The sofa was actually a gift from my daughter. It's in a slightly smaller scale than Catsy but doesn't look too off. We're going to have to make more posts now that there's a "thread 3"!!
That sofa was perfect for your little octopus guy, though, and it's very nicely done, phanuel! Yeah, just got the redirect to number 3 now. It's one of those love/hate things for me when they make us start another thread. On one hand, it's nice we've had enough posts to warrant it and on the other, some of my favorite pics were on the last one. Our first thread has disappeared and I wonder if number 2 will eventually follow suit. Anyway, I do have a few pic ideas for Catsy, but they'll require a lot of work to set up and I'm kind of in that "point and shoot" mode of just taking it easy and keeping it simple right now. Hope I can get up the energy to do more complex ones soon.
Yeah, I couldn't find the first thread either but I wonder if that was a mistake. Why would the mods deliberately post a link to nowhere? We could also gradually repost our favorite pics in context. Goodness knows there are tons of repeat posts in the game threads. I tend to take more pictures of my larger and/or latest dolls, but I still love my kitties and have so many props, I should make it a rule to take more photos of them.
Great pictures, phanuel (as always). "Boxcars" makes me think of the movie "Guys and Dolls" for some reason -- which means the octopus is singing "Luck be a lady" (a la Sinatra).
Thanks, guys, I was in a "Guys and Dolls" frame of mind! The hats are by Heidi Ott, but the one in the middle got melted by a photo lamp. I kind of like it that way.
Awww, found the new thread, and fab pics to kick it off phanuel! I finished a new bedroom for ginger catsy today - white catsy is hanging out there too at the mo...
That is a wonderful picture, shrinkomatic! Do you have any plans for other room boxes for your Catsy dolls?
Found two old wooden doll beds in an antique store today. Bedtime stories by Nadine, on Flickr And I thought of this picture while watching Father Brown last night. Father Purley by Nadine, on Flickr
Fab mini beds phanuel, and love your Father Brown - great outfit! And thanks all re the bedroom! They do have quite a few room boxes (it's the hobby that got me into bjds ... Here's a gratuitous pic of the bedroom in full: And here they are having a little drinkie, to welcome in the new thread
Wow- I'm gone a day and what wonderful pics you've both posted! Love those vintage beds, phanuel! What a great find and you created such a wonderful setting for them - it makes for such a charming pic! Love it! Great pic of Father Brown, too! He looks like one very serious chap! Your rooms are amazing in their detail and beauty, shrinkomatic! That bedroom is every girl's dream and the parlor, complete with bar, is so posh - just look at those gleaming wood floors! Who wouldn't want to have a "drinkie" there?!
I took the easy way out, although less easy than it looks, and just took this pic of my Catsy girls wearing Japanese school girl uniforms aka sailor suits. The difficult part was that I actually had to remove the heads on two of them to get those tops on them. Those two fashions (red bow and blue tie) were made by Azone for their 1:12 scale Picco Neemo dolls, which I have a few of. The other is also from Japan, but I don't know who made it.
Adorable outfits! Any photo with these critters standing is a difficult one. Those knees do like to buckle.
Super cute sailor suits - they look fab! And top tip re clothes that fit too Thanks v much both for compliments on the rooms too! I must try to get more pics of them in situ... In the meantime, they're enjoying a brief final burst of summer!
Everyone's pictures are fabulous! They make me miss my Catsy so much . . . will need more picture spam to help me cope!
Here are the photos I took for the "Elevenses" contest, dinner and dessert. I didn't win anything for this, but my entry was chosen in the "Hoarding" contest. Of course that wasn't even a doll pic, just eyeballs! Dinner by Nadine, on Flickr Dessert by Nadine, on Flickr
Thank you all for the nice comments! Much appreciated! Your patio looks just as wonderful as your inside rooms, Shrinkomatic! Such attention to detail! Can't blame your Catsies for wanting to hang out there, either - not only is it super pretty, but just look at that tower of cupcake goodies they have there! Yum! Great to see you post these pics here, phanuel! They are truly wonderful in their composition and color! You did such an excellent job on them - they're definitely winners in my book!
Thanks, Cattwo! I dropped out of the Triathlon after the first round this year. I hated to do it but my heart just wasn't in it. It did give me more free time for other doll-related activities though.
Another prop I found in Mount Horeb, WI, last weekend. Mount Horeb is Norwegian-founded and the self-proclaimed "Troll Capital of the World". It's in a really beautiful area and not far from Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. Medea by Nadine, on Flickr
Wow, a 3rd Catsy thread already?! Really beautiful pictures guys!!! Shrinkomatic, I love the bedroom scene!
Thanks very much guys re the patio and bedroom! phanuel, I loved your dining photos, they're fabulous - and the eyeballs pic too, congratulations! And your new prop too (poor mouse!)... I've been finishing a new conservatory / orangery for the little guys to hang out in - just completed today in time to get a couple of daylight shots in (definitely doesn't feel like summer here any more!)...
phanuel, as always, a great picture. Your Medea really does have style. The mouse doesn't look too pleased, though!
Thanks, spensers_mom and shrink! Love your latest pics, I especially like that lovely bowl of fruit. It feels like autumn here in Wisconsin too. I'm looking forward to our annual leaf-peeping tour.
You guys are all off the hook! I'm loving each and every photo. So much love, care, and attention to detail in each one. My poor Catsy spends most of her time in her box. I need to find her something else to wear. Any suggestions are welcome. She was wearing a Monster High top but I had to give that back to a monster. Thank you!
You can try Bratz Kidz, Picco Neemo (14cm clothes), some Kelly (Barbie), and there are some other small dolls that the ladies here can suggest. I don't know the names of the dolls.
Great find, phanuel! Really makes for a wonderful pic - so cute with that mouse, too! Okay, so I have to ask - why is Mount Horeb called "Troll Capital of the World"? My DH and I have a collection of troll dolls. They were some of the first dolls I collected after I got married - the vintage ones from the 1960's - so I'm always interested to know more troll trivia. Looks wonderful, shrinkomatic! Another beautiful job on this one! Great pic of your Catsies enjoying it, too!
Well, there are a lot of troll statues around town and the Grumpy Troll Brew Pub and Troll Inn, they call their Main Street "The Trollway", there's a Thirsty Troll Brew Fest, etc., etc. If you're ever nearby you should check it out. It's close to the Driftless Area--the only part of Wisconsin that didn't get flattened by glacier, just gorgeous. And to keep this on-topic, I saw a lot of great doll props in the shops!
My photos are for crap. But at least this is on topic. Here's Nola with Sasha Groove Kiki (off topic). IMG_4484 by Alpha Mayday, on Flickr She's no baby, but don't they look so sweet together? I know Kiki is female but since she's dressed in such manly garb I've decided he's a boy.
I think it's great pic, orinoco_flow! I have some of those Sasha dolls from Groove and yet never thought to take a pic of them with my Catsy cats - I think they look very cute together!
I like your picture orinoco_flow. I love the outfits . . . I teach 18th century studies at the local university, and your doll looks very much the Napoloeonic gentlecat!
Orinoco, your kitties have similar faces, they look great together! Today was National Reptile Awareness Day, one of the cats' favorites. Phaedra celebrates with some friends. Happy National Reptile Awareness Day by Nadine, on Flickr
Congratulations, Hamadryad! So nice to hear that you found yourself a Catsy! I hope she arrives safely! And quickly, too!
Catsy arrived today! She is so small and delicate. She also seems to be angry about being stuck in a box for a week!
Yay! Congrats! Catsys do tend to look perpetually peeved, that's part of their charm. She makes a nice handful, doesn't she?
Congratulations on your Catsy's arrival, Hamadryad! She's purr-fectly adorable! Her attitude is par for the course, as these cats tend to be on the grumpy side, even when they're released from their boxes. But they more than make up for that with their cuteness!
Can anyone share a link to clothing options for Catsy? I thought it would be in the 1st thread which seems to be missing. ETA: I have already found a mention in this thread, but wondered if someone had done a database type entry.
I don't believe there's a database type of entry, Hamadryad, but here's a quick run down for you: Catsy can wear some Kelly aand Chelsea clothes by Mattel, some earlier Bratz Kidz clothes, Heidi Ott dollhouse minature girl clothes, Azone Picco Neemo size clothes, clothes by DollinStyle in their "tiny bits" size and of course, outfits sold for her specifically by Elfdoll, which can be difficult to find these days. DollinStyle clothes are available from Denver Doll Emporium and Doll Peddlar DDE The Doll Peddlar Doll Peddlar also has a few older fashions that were once offered by Elfdoll, too: The Doll Peddlar For Kelly & Chelsea stuff, eBay is usually the way to go. Look for Kelly dresses that are longer or like gowns on her - they'll be the perfect dress length for Catsy. Shorter dresses would be more like a shirt. The tops, skirts and shorts usually fit fine, but may be a little short sometimes. Tommy's stuff works, too. Pants will be short on a Catsy, though - more like Capri length. Chelsea's clothes work even better for Catsy, since she's a touch taller and slimmer than Kelly. Most Bratz Kidz stuff works, but again they may be hard to find now that it's been years since the original fabric clothing versions were available. But again, you may be able to find someone selling off a bunch on eBay. Azone's 1:12 scale Picco Neemo dolls have some nice clothing made for them that Catsy can wear. Those little Japanese school girl uniforms my Catsy cats are wearing were made for those dolls. But you would have better luck finding those overseas, in Japanese shops. Places to try, that ship world wide, are AmiAmi, Hobby Search, and Hobby Link Japan. Things show up on Mandarake, too. Don't forget checking out dollhouse stuff - most of the 1:12 scale items work well with Catsy, as far as accessories go. I've even found a dress or two I was able to pouch off a dollhouse doll that fit well, but that's always a bit of a gamble as to whether it will work or not. As far as footwear goes, Catsy can wear some Kelly shoes, almost all Chelsea shoes, some Heidi Ott shoes (the softer lady ones are best), and Picco Neemo. There may be others I'm forgetting. I've taken a lot of Catsy pics over the years. If you check out my Catsy album on flickr and spot something that interests you, feel free to ask me what it is and where I got it: Kitty Korner Good luck in your building up your Catsy's wardrobe! It's a lot of fun shopping for her!
Saw your picture on flickr, Cattwo, it's gorgeous! Love the colors, a touch of frost to a rather warm winter.
Thank you very much for your nice comment, phanuel! Much appreciated! It's been unseasonably warm here, too, with 75 F expected for Christmas Day. So the only "frosty" thing around here is that Catsy pic.
The Catsies of Catton Abbey - the early years: Just a little tribute to one of my favorite shows ending soon, "Downton Abbey".
Thank you very much, phanuel! I actually meant to post another of this pic (on Flickr) in sepia, but totally forgot - will try to do that, as I think it would be pretty cool looking, not to mention more period purrfect! Here's your sepia, phanuel! Thanks again for mentioning it! As soon as I read your post, I decided I had to go do that as soon as Downton Abbey was over last night. I actually thought it was to be the last episode, but thankfully I was mistaken and I have one more to look forward to watching. I added the ornate frame to make it look more worthy of placement in Catton Abbey - lol!
