Elfdoll 14cm TinyDoll discussion Part 4

Sep 26, 2011

1. Thanks for posting William1122 ! I'm waiting for a PN S body in white skin for my Bong head , it looks like the body will work just fine.

2. I'm glad it helped, Aeryn! It will work great! :)

3. Are there any actual WHITE skin bodies that would fit the Elfdoll heads? I was really needing to make one of my characters a whiteskin and I don't know if blushing a PN body will work, I've never tried to work with "normal" plastics.

4. I got a shipping notice today, my Bong head and Dami headback are shipped ! and the Picco Neemo body waits for me at the PO.

5. Awesome! Did you get blank heads or with faceup? I'm glad you are going to give the picco neemo bodies a try (get white for regular elfdoll resin)

LOL, GoodbyeKitty, I think she meant blank. Wish they would do a dark tan character! That'd be awesome! Of course they've done catsy :)

Thank you again so much! I'm so glad I was able to change my order to white skin! It looks close to perfect! I got my paypal invoice and paid probably within 5 minutes of them sending it to me, LOL. I just happened to open my email just after they sent it!

Gosh, I'm so afraid of painting my Bong! I didn't think about it, but she is complex! Ugh! I hope I can get a Jin some time soon, then I'll have all 3 sisters!

DanceCat, the plastic doll bodies from obitsu and Azone seem to be the same and I can say having an Obitsu, that they're very pale, yellowishy pink, but not white white, like many resin dolls :(

6. Bong is very difficult to paint but so unique that she looks good with any face up. The one I gave my Bong is not perfect but it still gives her personality :)

And about Jin-

There are actually 2 versions of Jin at The Doll Peddlar. The 2008 version with the two puffs on the top of her head and a yellow dress and the 2009 version with a braided wig, a softer and more detailed face up, and a dorothy dress. I ordered the 2009 Jin and she is really worth getting! And definitely order from The Doll Peddlar! She only came in 2 days and the price is better than Elfdoll's insane shipping.

7. Wow, I can't believe they still have her! I'm going to have to save up my money! My Min has a regular big boobie body, LOL, and my Bong will have the picco neemo body so having an actual sister with the proper body would be awesome!

Well, Hobby Search said they received my payment and that the items will be shipped out within the next couple of business days. I'm guessing that means Monday :XD: Really looking forward to having new dolls!

8. Hurray for the sisters!!!!!!! I can't wait to see your Bong girl. I was so surprised too that The Doll Peddlar had the two Jins from quite a few years ago. I knew I just and to have her because I have a feeling they will sell out soon. I really hope you can get her! Which one do you think you will get? :)

9. Wow that is surprising that the doll peddler has the Jin girls left. They will probably sell out now that more people know LOL!

GoodbyeKitty: It was a typo, meant to read BLANK heads not BLACK ooopsy :blush. I thought that the piconeemo X-cute dolls used the S bodies as that's what they all seem to list under body size. It wouldn't surprise me too much if they did come out with a smaller size for the full doll sets. They do seem to add in extras for full doll sets before they are offered as parts like they did with the large bust option for S and M bodies in the assault series of picco neemos.

10. I really wish they would sell the Assault series bodies separately because I would have no use for the fullset. If you guys are worried about the Jin girls being sold out soon I believe that you can do layaway so that you can "reserve" your doll. And Jin is a pretty underrated or a non popular sculpt so maybe they will have quite a few in stock. But I think that the limited 2007 version they won't have very many of. :)

http://www.dollpeddlar.com/conditions.php

11. What is the assault series?

I guess I'll see what happens at the end of the month, because at the moment, I've spent all my money again, LOL. I guess if I could choose, I would get the older one in the gingham dress (is that what you call that pattern?) and braids. I like her dress and her wig best, but I sort of like the faceup of the newer one better.

Anyway, I may not be able to do this, but I would love to if I can! LOL

My bodies are out of customs and I'm hoping they arrive tomorrow (jumping up and down) but I haven't started any painting yet! I better get on it. I hope my supplies are still good???

12. The assault series ( I have NO clue why they are called that) are basically Picco Neemo bodies with more movement and a bigger bust. Oh and the one with the gingham dress and the braids is actually the newer version and the one with the yellow dress and the two buns is older one. I really hope you can get her!!!! :)

13. Oh, I forget which one came when anymore, LOL. It's been so long! Wow, I'd love to see the assault series! My M bodies just arrived! I don't have time to play, 'cause I'm supposed to go to a friends house 15 minutes ago, LOL, to help with their computer. But I have to say, they're adorable, the "light skin" which they call white or fair, or many other names, LOL, is a perfect match to fresh elfdoll resin (normal) I can't wait to take picture. I have a plan for the head attachement that really won't be hard, but I need to get a drill bit. Also for everyone, their clothes are made amazingly well! Seriously! The only thing to watch out for is the hems, they're very fine, and I can see tearing the fabric threads over time. So these are lovely great clothes that need to be treated well. No rough stuff! LOL. But the detail is amazing and well done! They have velcro for back fasteners but they keep everything as thin as possible so it doesn't look bad from the back.

Anyway, I had to report, I'm very excited! These are all going to be amazing! I think it's been said already, but the hands don't move up and down, they only twist, so getting the different hands is a good idea for posing different ways. Also, the feet, though they are detachable, they don't move at all. No pointing toes with this girl :) Otherwise, the body is great. Nice things are these aren't kicky, but of course a proper bjd is so much slinkier and there is something to a elfdoll tiny body that slinks in your hand, kind of like it's alive, LOL. But this is a super option for extra heads!

And if I haven't said it enough, if you like these picco neemo outfits, they're really awesome and pretty much the right size for elfdolls. I haven't tried any on my dolls yet, but I'm going to try to do so tomorrow and take my first dolly pictures in YEARS! Can't wait to post them for you all :)

14. Well, I modified the neck thingy for the elfdoll head, and took pictures! Photos 1, 2 and 3 show the modified neck pc. I outlined in photo 1 how the neck piece is two pieces snapped together at the ball joint. I hope you can understand that. It's hard to see in a photo, but there are two halves to the sphere and they snap together so that the top can bend down, forming an L if it wants to. I drilled a hole in the piece that would normally be stuffed into a vinyl head, and held there via the flaring out shape. I then drew a small silicon band, the kind that came from my daughter's bracelet making loom that are popular right now. I think these bands are also the same kind that you can get for your hair, about 1/2" to 3/4" long. Just take the two loops after drawing them through the neck pc. and hook them into the head cap hook and you're finished :)

The last picture shows what I tried before drilling a hole. I simply wrapped the band around the small end above the ball joint, tightened it, so that the bulk of the band was as small as possible, then shoved the band through the neck hole, grabbed it and shoved the end pc.through the head, lining up the bulk with one of the slits. This would have worked quite well (after pressing the head well on to the neck) except my band ended up too long and there was not enough tension to hold the head cap in place. I would need smaller bands for this to work :).

Hope this helps anyone fitting an Elfdoll head on a Picco Neemo body! I think it looks great and I'll get back with some fashion pictures :D

Edit: Now that I have my dolls put together, I wish I had slightly smaller bands, so try something smaller if you can for more tension :)

15. IngieBee: Great tip! Thanks so much. I can't wait to see you girls.

Just throwing a few ideas out there: Wonder if a home made S hook would work to hold the head cap in place if you threaded it through your drilled hole? Maybe make your own loop with elastic thread so that you could get it smaller and have more tension? I have no time until maybe next month to play and focus on my girls. I did want to try and open up Kai's eyes a bit before I tried a faceup on her.

PS: if you go here you can see the assault series bodies (only available as a full set) of the picco neemos vs the regular ones. Also if you type in picco neemo compariso you can see some other pictures.

16. Oh wow, that's cool! I think my bodies may be the same size as the big one. They end up being half a head taller than regular Elfdolls. I don't mind though. It's nice to have an option. I love their clothes, but so much of it is sold out on the Japanise websites. And if you go to ebay everything costs 2X as much! This has really been great because my daughter didn't get much for her birthday (just some clothes from grandparents and chocolate from us) So I used my birthday money from my mom (a month later) to buy these dolls. It's a little late, but at least now I can give her something nice :D I painted them last night and now I have to take pcitures for her. BTW, I'm not the best faceup artist, lol, especially on tinies, but did my best. Will try taking a photo a little later :) I can't wait to give this to her when she gets back from visiting grandparents at the end of the month! So excited!

Also, yes, stringing a shorter pc. of chord (tiny chord) would be a great option. I actually have some I found at JoAnn's and might give that a try.

17. IngieBee; That is wonderful! I think I met you and your daughter at one of the Elfdoll parties in Glendale!

18. Of course I remember you Nancy. We haven't been active for a long time. Life just got too busy. My eldest is dealing with "executive functioning disorders" My middle boy is autistic and now has graduated high school, and so they are both needy. Neither can drive, so I spend my days taking them everywhere. I don't really mind, I love them so much, but it leaves little time for anything else. It's summer now, so I have a wee bit of time at the moment, LOL. Having fun playing with my dolls, though my partner in crime is away at camp ;)

So anyway, I got some pictures done! Here they are :) No eyes for the most part yet, I ordered some from Dreamingtree. I also have to dress them, LOL. You can see the color match is perfect, but time will change elfdoll resin, and then it won't match as well. But that's ok, it's still a great fit! BTW, that's the light skin body, or "white"

Do we have picture rules on this thread? Let me know, I'll put the pictures elsewhere if I should do that :D

19. Hey you wise Elfdoll tiny folks! I have a question: Do you think either a Kai or Lyn head would fit on the Doll Chateau Ada body (human)? I can't find Ada's size or measurements so I just hope they would fit together. It would certainly open up a new hybridization option because there are usually a few Adas in the MP. I hope someone can help me! :abambi:

20. Oh wow! I see you guys are talking about Pico Neemo bodies with the Elfdoll tiny heads. I ended up with an extra PN body lying around after my vacation (long story), and after realizing the clothes fit, I decided I'd try it with my Sylph's head out of curiosity. And now I see other people have done it, too! I think the body works really nicely, and I'm happy Abby can now stand. And I can't resist those adorable little hands. Also, with the option hands costing only around $5 for a set of five poses, it gives nice variety, too.

My head attachment is hardly as sophisticated as yours, but it works for now. I might set up mine similar to yours down the line. Also, Abby is a few year old and she still matches the body fairly well. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

21. Awesome, Edtel!

Going through my stuff, I'm realizing I'm an Elfdoll tiny clothing hoarder! Geepers, I have a lot of stuff for them (minus shoes :( ) I wanted to do a photostory with them once upon a time. Wonder if I'll ever get around to it, LOL.

I'm so sorry, Zomboid, I don't know that doll at all :( If you find out, please let us know! It seems, though, that the Elfdoll head would look a bit small on the body, which might just make it look like more real, adult proportions? The biggest question would be, will the neck fit the elfdoll head? I really don't know though??

22. IngieBee - I think your face ups came out quite well :)

Zomboid - They heads should look ok on and Ada body. I don't know how tall they are without the heads but I do know that with their original heads they are 17cm tall.

23. Thank you calliope13! I appreciate the kind words, now I have to hope my daughter likes 'em :D

Oh gosh, I'm such a baaaaaaad girl...er... lady. I just bought more picco neemo clothes :doh 2 of each so we don't fight, LOL. Sometimes my daughter is like a little sister, and she gets into all my stuff! LOL OK, all my birthday money is gone. That didn't last long at all :pout:

24. Thank you calliope13 for the confirmation, I think I will try this hybrid in the future. I think the DC pink skin will be the best skin option. I can't wait! :aheartbea I also love the Picco Neemo bodies but I just can't overlook the different materials of the body and the Elfdoll resin heads, I think this would drive me crazy. :sweat I also just really love strung bodies, they move so nicely and feel amazing in your hand. But don't feel discouraged, please!

25. I can't say for sure since I've sold my Ada but I can say that the wig that fit her perfectly is ever so slightly too big for my Hiro. The head sizes are close. Ada did have a very skinny neck so I suspect it might fit into an Elfdoll head without modding for size. I'm interested to see it if you do make the hybrid.

26. O.K.: So of all the people who have now tried the Picco Neemo body for their Elfdoll, apparently I'm the only DORK who can't get the peg to go through the head and into the neck securely... :doh

…It's just not long enough to go through the thickness of the resin sculpt and down into the hole in the neck. Did anybody else have a problem with this?
P.S.: This is Adel's head.

27. Ingiebee, your face ups look amazing! I especially love Bong :)
Oh and if you ever decide you have too much Elfdoll tiny clothing let me know because I would be happy to take some off of your hands
;)

28. Amanda- Maybe Elfdoll's older heads had thicker resin?
I know that this is the 2nd edition of adel so it is possible that they changed the thickness with their newer releases. But the thing that I don't understand is that an Elfdoll neck is about the same size as the PN neck so it's weird that it won't fit. Hmm. Maybe you could take an X-acto knife and very carefully open the neck hole a bit?

29. Thanks, William!

GoodbyeKitty, Only the cylindrical part, the first part goes into the head (and not all the way at that). the head rests on the ball, which doesn't go through. I drilled a hole through the section that goes in the head to thread a band through. The cylindrical pc. that goes through the neck hole needs to go in at just the right angle, but all my heads were able to accommodate it, but it's not always easy to get the right angle to poke it through. Need to wiggle and finesse it. My silly Kai's head actually had the largest hole, and the round part pokes into the head, not something I want. This causes her not to have the range of movement I'd like her to have. The head should sit right on the ball, then it will have good up/down movement :)

My problem now is that these girls have such small feet, they don't even fit Kelly shoes! I just looked up Mimi'sstuff and she isn't around anymore :pout: :...( She made the most amazing clothes! And boots/shoes as well! So sad!

Anyway, gotta find some shoes.....

30. @ GoodbyeKitty173 Oh sad to hear you have trouble with the peg, I have just received my Bong the head fits perfect on the PN S body I stuck some putty between the faceplate and headback and it holds :) . I like the body its very posable.
@ IngieBee I got some tiny 2 cm shoes and a pair of boots for Middie Blythe from Mimiwoo they are too big for her teenie tiny feet but proportion wise they are oke and look adorable on her.

31. I also did not have a problem with the head fitting and the post going all the way into the neck. I tried something different with the head cap. The hook was actually touching the post, so I pulled it out, hollowed the placement spot in the head cap out a little with a dremel, and glued magnets - one on the post and one in the head cap. I used strong glue and it seems to work fine. I learned a lot by reading this thread. Thanks. I never would have bought the head if I had not know about the Azone bodies. I agree that the feet are very small. I have some Heidi Ott shoes that may work with socks. First attempt at posting a picture...

[IMG][/IMG]

32. It could depend on which head???
I got the body and put my Lyn head right on, fits perfectly.
I loathe the tiny feet, it's already a pet peeve of mine that doll feet are unproportioned but this takes the cake for sure!

Anyway, Lizzy thanks for sharing the tip on adding magnets! Love that!

33. You're welcome, DanceCat. I wasn't sure I could drill through the post without the drill slipping. Plus, on my doll there was no room at all between the hook and the post for any size rubber band. It really does depend on the head. I had the magnets on hand so I gave it a try. I have the Bongsunhwa head.

34. :aheartbea Thank you, everybody, for the help & info about the neck-peg :aheartbea

Lizzy1912:
That's a great idea with the magnets! Heidi Ott child shoes might indeed fit the Picco feet. I remember that they are definitely too small for my PukiPuki, but then again they might also be too wide. I don't know if socks will help fill the gap…?

One thing I can help you guys with is info on shoes – both for Picco Neemo and Elfdoll:

• Azone (who makes the Neemo bodies) does make shoes for their Picco dolls! PiccoNeemo shoes do fit Elfdoll Tiny feet, but it is a tight fit and I was afraid of getting the feet stuck inside permanently. Also: Midi-Blythe shoes fit Picco feet, but they can be expensive because on eBay they are usually sold by private collectors looking to make some cash by splitting up the pieces of original outfits and selling them separately. Some Etsy sellers have listings for Midi-Blythe shoes at competitive prices.

• Ruby Red Galleria sells "PukiPuki" shoes that are actually a bit too long for Puki feet – which means that they DO fit Elfdoll Tiny feet, even with socks.
I mentioned this tip earlier in the thread, and some of you expresses reluctance to try it, so here is my Kai head on Hiro's body in R.R.G. shoes:

35. Yes, and I have some kelly shoes that look great with socks, they even stay on OK (with socks) BTW azone picco neemo socks are great for elfdolls too, and rather cheap. You get 2 pair for like $4.75 plus shipping (not bad if you buy a bunch o stuff) "three fold socks" Just be careful with the shoes. type D shoes is for their more cartoonish bodies with big hands and feet :)

Wow, Lizzy, that's a great idea! I really like it!

GoodByeKitty, I really love those shoes! And the Dodo outfit is one I will forever pine for. I just love overalls and coveralls. It either represents a farmer or machinest to me, things I love, LOL

36. OMG thank you WinterMonkey for sharing this link! That's exactly the type of body I've been looking for! :aheartbea I saw that MoC carries Xagadoll but couldn't find this tiny doll over there so I hope they will eventually carry it. That little face and the hair options are sooo cute, too!

37. I really like that xagadoll body too! I still have the open eyed Dodo head that has no body and I like that one better than the pico neemo for her. Do you think there are any other dealers of xagadoll that would have her?

38. My Rovena has got a new wig!

39. Wow, amazing, I love her! all of her! How much is that in dollars? LOL I mean, is that 512 yuan? Or 51200 yen with an odd . placement (you never know as in Europe they use . instead of , for their placement - opposite of us in the US) I suspect it's about 500 dollars, Ugh! That would just be too rich for my blood!

Nalufel, I love Rovina's wig, did you make it? Where did you get it, or how did you make it please :D Lovely!

40. I think it's 516 Yuan because if they used the dot like us Europeans 516.00 would make no sense because there are only two zeros after the dot. 516,00 would be how we would write 516 Yuan. :) This would make this little doll about $85, not too bad! I seriously am considering this. Now I'll have to research the resin match for Xagadoll...:XD:

41. Hello! :) New to this thread :P
I recently got an Elfdoll tiny Kai, and hybrided him with an Obitsu 11cm body. It fits really well!
But I'm having a hard time finding the right eyes. Does anyone know what size of eyes they can take? It looks really small!

42. Kai's eyes are extra small. they are a 3mm iris and 6mm size. The place to go for eyes for Kai is Dreaming Tree Studios on etsy. She can even make ones just for you and they are very affordable.

43. Ooh wow, those are really small then. Well thanks alot Teseya! I will go check them out!

44. That is such a cute picture, Stille! :D What a perfectly scaled skateboard. I just love that little cheeky face, hopefully Elfdoll will sculpt more tiny faces like that in the future! Does anyone know the status of Elfdoll? The website hasn't updated in a while and it looks like they are throwing everything out for an "end" sale. :pout:

45. Zomboid, thank you! It's actually a fingerboard, it's very beautiful and detailed, and suits her really well! I love Bong very much for her frisky expression.

46. Hi guys! I have been away for a while (twins!) and haven't had time to craft and sew in forever! Love all the pics, keep them coming.

Where might I find these fabulous Carla Benham clothes? I tried searching on DOA but I didn't see a sale thread.

47. thanks DanceCat! Wow her etsy page is empty. Wish I had that problem with my custom stuff!
Playing around with some mini Disney dolls. As you can see from Kai's expression, she does not care that Anna is out of a dress.

48. Anybody know if the tiny bodies will be restocked? Was thinking if getting an Olivia head and see if someone could give her eyes, smaller like Kai. Anyone know a good customizer for tinies?

49. Several of us have asked Elfdoll what their plans are and if the sale is a permanent discontinuation but they claim not to know where they're headed. Leave it to Elfdoll to put us on the edges of our seats.

50. I've just put a second-hand elfdoll tiny on layaway, but I'm thinking about getting a head and putting it on a picco nemo body once I've finished the layaway.

51. Hi Everyone. I have adored Bong from afar for six years but amazingly never bought her. Now on the day that I decide to check her out and see if I can do a layaway I find out that the site is in a 'closing down' kind of mode with only limited parts available. The thought of never being able to have a Bong is more than I can stand!! I am thinking of buying a Lynn head and looking at the replacement bodies that have been suggested here. She is too good a price to ignore. Any Lynn spam?

52. Lyn spam? I'd be happy to! Lyn was my second ever of 6 Elfdoll tinies that I have.
Here she is playing Arietty the Borrower in a photostory I did.
I made her wig with mohair glued onto the headcap like in Rainman's Tutorial. She is on the immature body (or Monaemi body; I like it better)

53. Thank you so much for this! She is adorable. I love how petite and perfect these dolls are. Can't wait to have one in my life.

54. OK, I must be blind or something but I can't for the life of me find any information on what size wig to buy my incoming lynn......Help!!!! I don't like my dolls to arrive without a wig to welcome them ;-)

55. The Elfdoll tinies are an odd size. They are about 2.5". You might be able to find wigs on Jpopdolls or you could look at the Monique website. That's where I found many of mine, but most of those don't have elastic. I use white wall putty to keep the wigs on. Also, there are mohair and fur wigmakers on DoA and otherwise that will make Elfdoll tiny size.

56. Yeah, and some (like Kai) have smaller heads than others!
