ED Eye Group Order from November -- Anyone know what's going on?

Apr 30, 2007

    1. So...does anyone know what's going on with the Enchanted Doll Group Order that nikita was running back from November? I tried PMing her, but she's got her PM option turned off. And I can't seem to find her email (and really don't want to seem tooooo pestery)...

It's just that it's been close to six months since the order was placed, and I do know that they take a few months to make... But from the folks I've talked with, who have ordered eyes from them before, said it only took about 2-3 months for their group order. :\

      Buuu.

Mods, please feel free to move this to the appropriate category. I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the Marketplace, Group Orders category.

      Thank you!

    2. When I was talking to Nikita about ED eyes earlier in the week, she had mentioned in passing that there had been some sort of delay.

She's not online now but I will let her know about this thread so she can post more correctly what's going on. :)

    3. Thank you, darlin'! I was thinking that, too... Crazy ED! But I loves their eyes, and I'll wait years if I have to. XD!

      Edit: Buuu. Just got this PM from someone, regarding a previous ED order that was placed in January. ;___;

    4. 'Glad you made this thread... I'd been meaning to ask her about that for awhile now (I have two sets of eyes in that order, too-), but just hadn't remembered to do it yet. :doh

    5. Yeah...it's kind of weird that we haven't heard anything for a while, especially since Joann is usually on top of these things. :\ I tried to see if the old thread was still up, but it's been long since deleted.

I guess I'll go in with blanki next time. Maybe it's a language barrier thing with Joann -- I don't know.

    6. Bumping this in case nikita gets online today. Would really like an update. :\

    7. I emailed and asked again so as soon as I get a reply, I will post it in this thread. Sorry for the delay!!! :(

    8. Thank you, Joann! This is so strange for Enchanted Doll... :\

    9. Um.. you do know that Blanki isn't Korean, right? So the same language barrier applies. :sweat

    10. I could've sworn that someone said that Blanki could speak Korean, regardless of the fact that she's not Korean. I can't remember who told me that, though. X3

    11. I've had an order through Blanki take six months too. I think it is more a nature of the space, than who your middle man is. :|

    12. If this order was placed in Nov. and Blanki's in the end of Jan. this order should have been made first, yet Blanki's order was recieved already.
ED has some splainin to do.

    13. [laughs] Our order list probably got lost under a pile of paperwork on somebody at ED's desk for a month or two...

    14. Bump in hopes that we've got any good news. :\ I'm almost wondering if we should be asking for our money back from ED. This is really disheartening.

We are coming up on our six month, and there is no news in sight. I really wouldn't care if it took a year or two -- but news or an update would be welcome. Maybe a note that they're having problems casting their urethane batches...or something. But the fact that we're getting nothing is aggravating. Blanki seems to keep her threads updated and they're still up, even since February. The fact that the ED Eyes Group Order thread that Joann was hosting is now deleted really worries me.

    15. Bumping this again, because we still haven't heard anything re: the order... :|

    16. Yeeeeeah... :| I still haven't heard anything either.

    17. Hey guys,

Jo hasn't been on the forum at all since the day she posted the comment in this thread. I haven't seen her on messenger at all either. Not once. This is very unusual for her and I feel strongly that something is up -- like that she has been taken ill or has had something pretty serious happen in real life that has taken her totally offline for some reason.

I totally understand that you have very valid concerns considering how long you have been waiting, and I know that Jo is aware of that too. As soon as I hear anything from her end I will let her know that you are worried, and if I hear anything at all from her about the ED order I will pass it along.

I realise you have been waiting a long time, so I just hope that you can continue to be patient and understanding for a bit longer. :sweat

    18. At the risk of painting a big target on my head...

We've been patient for months, Cassiel, without word one on the status of this order... I think we have every right at this point to be both skeptical of excuses and concerned about the eventual outcome, especially given how difficult Joann's made it to establish contact. Being told to, esentially, sit down and shut up at this point is more than a little annoying.

Not to put too fine a point on it, if any other group order run by a "civilian" forum user rather than a member of the Mod Squad had run into this sort of situation with 1) a complete lack of communication, 2) no-show products after nearly 6 months and 3) a vanishing order coordinator, I'm sure it would have shown up as a bad feedback thread by now and you guys wouldn't be telling us to "be patient"... especially given the new Marketplace Communication statement.

Anyway... given that we're long past the point where PayPal disputes or credit card charge-backs would do any good at all, all of us involved in the order are basically out of luck if ED flakes out on the order or if anything else has gone wrong... That's even more annoying than being kept in the dark.

    19. I've sent Jo an email and I hope I'll get a response from her soon. Undortunately, I do not have her phone number, but I'm trying to see if I can track it down so I can give her a call if I don't recieve an answer via email.

In any case, I am also concerned about her and this issue, and as Cassiel said, you all do have very valid reasons to be angry and concerned as well. We're certainly not trying to make this seem like less of an issue than it actually is, and I completely understand how frustrating it is to ask for patience, but I think that until we can get in contact with Jo, there's really not much else we can do. I do admit I am biased on this, as I do consider Jo to be a very good friend and trust her a great deal, but it's unreasonable and unfair to expect all of you to have the same level of trust in her as I do. For what it's worth, Jo would not be a mod if she hadn't repeatedly and consitently prooven herself to be an honest and trustworthy person.

Unfortunately, while getting angry is of course a very natural reaction, it won't do much to help the situation. I am going to do my best to help in any way I can, and I will definitely keep everyone updated with anything I find out.

    20. Moderators, like regular users, can easily be considered very trust worthy and nice and wonderful and honest, until they are not.
I think the point that BF was trying to make was that just because she was a moderator should not mean that she receives special priviledges because her name is a different colour.

    21. I completely understand that, and I'm not saying that we won't take appropriate action if we can't get some answers for her soon. (I also have eyes coming from her as well, so I can also understand the impatience and frustration that I'm sure you all are feeling.)

    22. My order with Blanki took at least 6 months as well. I did get quite a few updates though, so I knew what was going on.

    23. I am going to agree with Hitasura that this is highly unusual for Jo.

Just so everyone knows, I do live in the same city as she does, and in fact just a few minutes from her house. If it comes down to it, I can go there if I have to to find out what's going on for everyone. I've called another DoA user who does have her phone number, and as soon as I get some information, I'll let you know what's going on.

    24. Exactly. My concern at this point is getting answers... and with luck, eventually, Crane and Tsung-Li's new eyes.

I knew going in that these eyes weren't going to arrive quickly, and I don't mind a long wait. But there does comes a point when you have to wonder what's going on... especially when there are no updates, the order thread has been deleted and the person running the order vanishes completely right after being paged. 8P

If I didn't have considerable trust in her, I wouldn't have joined the order in the first place, but we've all see normally trustworthy people flake out time and time again in this hobby... I really hope Nikita isn't one of them, but it's natural to be skeptical when friends come in with the usual round of "But they're not like that!" and "Be patient. I'm sure something's just come up".

It's unfortunate that we have to be doubtful... but it's par for the course at this point. :(

    25. I'm part of this group order as well and have 2 pairs of eyes on order.

      I just thought I would mention, I emailed Joann on April 5th about the order and she responded super fast. I've not contacted her since, as it was Passover and then I was going to Japan. ^^;

I was told in my response that the order was placed the last week end in December and that at that time she had not heard from the eye maker. So this means the order was actually placed about 4 months ago.

I don't know if this helps or hurts things, but thought I ought to share.

I feel sure we will eventually get our eyes, it just will be a lot longer than anticipated. (And in the meantime I found a pair of glass that were exactly what I wanted for Lux, so one of the pairs I no longer need I think. >>; )

    26. It's nice that she replied to you quickly and offered an update... But it would have been even nicer if she had shared that same same information with the rest of us as well.

    27. I wonder why people haven't previously just emailed to ask an update? (maybe they have??) I also emailed nikita a month ago to ask, and she replied quickly saying she still had no update from the eye maker.
how often should someone update when they have no information to update? (perhaps more than she did, but how much is reasonable?)

I worry that people are jumping to the conclusion that nikita is "scamming" people, when in reality, these eyes take this long regularly. It's extremely frustrating, yes, but other than perhaps update her buyers more, what else can she do?
These eye orders are such a hard thing, because with almost anything else, if it'd been 6 months, you'd have a total right to be really worried, and in fact, you'd be stupid not to be worried... but it seems like a regular occurance with almost all of the eye manufacturers of this type.
Last two times I ordered these type of eyes (with a different person each time, btw) I had to wait this long, or at least 4 months. I can't stand it, since I love love love eyes and want to see them.....
but I don't understand the assumptions that it's other than the eye maker. Ie, there is no proof that this is a bad transaction on nikita's part, it could be (and probably is) solely an issue of the eye maker not being done with the eyes yet, and not having told her anything.
I dunno, maybe I'm off base, but that's my two unofficial cents. *_*

(and btw, I'm waiting for eyes from this order also.)

    28. Well, having nothing to update is one thing of course, but as rkold stated, she had an update that the order was not placed until the end of January, which would have been worthy of an update.

Second thing was that there was a later (January?) ED group order that people have already received, so to have no update on this order is slightly suspicious, or at least very unusual.

Plus, thirdly, I think there are some people who are worried about mod favoratisim. Since it seems if a regular user had done something like this, their marketplace priviledges would be removed, as per the new announcement.
      Especially
considering her PMs are turned off.

But, that's just my observation :daisy

    29. I understand what you're saying, and how it would be frustrating if you didn't know another way to contact her.
I somewhat frequently have pms turned off though because even when I'm taking a break from moderation (as noted by my status) people still pm me with tons of moderation-related stuff. It can get overwhelming (like say you go out of town and have 60 pms about so and so's thread). So the pms turned off thing isn't nessesarily related.
it's easier for me to be calm about it since I have her email, I don't know off hand whether other people did have it when they ordered, or what-have-you.

if she really is scamming people though, it's not like we're going to turn a blind eye. I'm just saying, lets not jump to conclusions when we don't have any information to go on.

    30. I think with the recent increase in scammers and problem transactions people are a little more on edge and more wllling to think the worst in people. :(

But, having her PMs turned off because she cannot deal with modding should not affect her bussiness. There needs to be some sort of happy medium; and this applies to all mods and not just Jo.

    31. Perhaps, to prevent people from jumping to conclusions in the future, group order organizers should take the initiative to stay in touch, as is normally expected of them when they are not moderators.

Inactive or active, mod accounts and the posts made with them carry special weight and influence with other users. That makes it especially important to set a proper example when using them.

I am very disappointed to see the defense being provided in this thread from mod accounts, considering that regular users have consistently been told not to comment in "problem transaction" and "paging" threads unless they are involved in the same transaction (noted, Hitasura is involved, in this case). If I were a more timid person, I would find the multiple mod posts here telling people to, essentially, "back off" very intimidating. I also wouldn't appreciate the insinuation that the lack of contact from a group order organizer was somehow my fault because I didn't pester with emails for one.

Whatever is going on in Nikita's life right now, this situation deserves to be taken in the same serious manner as it would for any normal user. What we have here is a six month wait with no additional contact since the order was placed -- when the original order thread has been deleted, PMs are turned off (and have been for a long, long time), and other orders submitted after this one are being filled. No wonder people are questioning the situation.

Mods, please deal with this in the consistent and appropriate manner in which I know you are capable. I'm sure we all appreciate any additional information you may have (not speculation), and any assistance you can give regarding getting in touch with Nikita. But I'd like to make a personal and respectful plea that you please be careful not to "break" the Marketplace guidelines you just so recently changed for the better.

    32. I wasn't commenting as a mod, I was commenting as member of this order (I ordered eyes...) but I've already said what I had to say. :\

as a moderator, we are trying to contact her, yes. We're not going to turn a blind eye just because she's a moderator.

    33. That's good. And I hope she's okay and just a little too swamped to pay attention to the on-line world, or something. No one has accused her of being a scammer or doing anything underhanded. We just want to know what's up...

      BUT.

Being told, even in a round-about way, to just shut up about it... and the implication that it's somehow OUR FAULT that things are muddled, because we didn't all flood her private email account for updates, is just silly. It isn't the responsibility of the order participants to chase down the coordinator for details. Keeping people informed, even if all you can tell them is "Yeah, still no word from the eye people. 8P", is one of the jobs that comes along with running a group order. If someone can't handle that, or doesn't want to be bothered to, they shouldn't try to run the darn thing.

    34. I'm sorry if something that I said gave the impression that I was telling people to "just shut up about it". that wasn't my intention at all. So if I came across that way, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to say that this is the fault of the buyers in this order. (and again, I'm one of them.)
My hope is simply that people will not jump to conclusions about it until we have more information. Because it is "sounding" like people are saying that the 6 months is somehow her fault, rather than the fault of the eye maker, even if that's not what people are intending.

10 days ago she responded saying she was asking the eye maker again and would respond when she heard from them. As far as we know, they might not have responded. That' being said, we're still trying to contact her.

    35. It seems more like it is the lack of communication that's bothering people. I think people understand that ED takes a long time, but not hearing anything from the person taking the order and then having them totally disappear is going to make people jittery.

    36. That above is really my issue. I already told Jo that I wouldn't mind waiting a year or even more -- as long as I could get an update. With all of my group orders, I let everyone know that even if there is no news, that I'm still checking up on the order every other day, if not every other day.

I also supply them with a confirmation number, the date the order was placed, and all the information they need to check up on the order themselves if they so wish.

None of this was supplied by Jo -- not even a note on when the order was placed. I was, of course, under the impression that the order was placed in November, when in actuality, it sounds like it was placed in January. The fact that I don't even know when the order was placed is disconcerting.

Thank you, zalem, for speaking soundly from the side that most think is biased. What you stated in just a few simple sentences is really the sum of the matter.

    37. Just a little heads-up: we've put the original preorder thread back up (which contains Jo's email address, in case anyone didn't have it).

    38. Thanks Rhian and zalem -- that'll definitely be good to keep.

    39. For the record, I do have Jo's number now, so if Pancake is unable to get a hold of her I will be trying to call her. I'm going to move this to the feedback section for now, and in accordance with the feedback forum rules I'm going to ask that no one post to this thread unless they are involved in the order.

I'd also like to say that I do take this issue more seriously because she is a mod rather than less, because yes... Moderators are expected to set a good example for the rest of the membership. Once again, I'll let everyone know with what I learn when I hear back from Pancake and/or try to call her.

    40. Ummmm I said end of December, not January, and I admit at the time I was a tiny bit miffed as I had been told I needed to pay by the 12th and finding out the order was placed 2 or so weeks later was quite vexing.

I want to stress that while I do think I will eventually get the eyes I am also not really pleased and will probably not order Enchanted Eyes again. One pair was a late Christmas gift and I had hoped to have them for my friend's birthday at the end of March.

      Unlike most other participants, while updates are appreciated, I had thought 3 months was about how long these eyes took and had I known it could take upwards of 6 months I would not have placed an order at all, as I was planning to go to Japan for GW. I think if there was a risk these eyes could take this long to be made, participants should have been warned beforehand. I'd only placed orders before with Ginarolo and for Eye Candies, and they came exactly when they were supposed too. ^^;

      I'm really hoping I can find a doll to use the pair I ordered since I bought new eyes I adore for the doll I'd planned these eyes for. ^^;;

    41. Just for the record, when I put in my 2 cents earlier, I also am in on this preorder AND have also ordered from Blanki. My comment was only meant to give perspective. The mods are being very proactive about the situation, and take it very seriously for the benefit of all.

      ;)

    42. Just a small update, I did try to call Jo but did not recieve and answer. I did leave a message so hopefully I'll hear back from her soon.

    43. Okay, I've just had a long chat with Jo on the phone.

Unfortunately, she is suffering from a health concern which affects her eyes and that is going to require surgery. It's quite difficult for her to stay on the computer for very long as it hurts her eyes - this means that at the moment she can't get online to respond to your emails.

Furthermore, it turns out that for some reason the ED eyes order did not go through successfully. Jo is very apologetic about this, and of course will be refunding everyone their money. She said she will have it to you by the end of the month. She'll be getting her sister to help her with emails and says everyone should be hearing from her personally by the end of this week.

This is an unfortunate situation for everyone, and Jo apologises profusely and will be doing her best to remedy the situation.

In addition, because she feels very responsible for all the problems that she has caused, Jo has asked us to remove her moderator status, so we will be respecting her wish and doing so shortly.

Also, if anyone in the order has an important matter concerning the order that they'd like to bring up with her, please PM me and I will most definitely pass it on to her.

In any case, here's to Jo's speedy recovery and to everyone receiving their refunds soon! Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

    44. So, she didn't even check to make sure the order went through back in December.... O_o

Just how long was she going to wait to check up on things?!

I'm sorry she's having eye trouble. It sounds like it really sucks... But that's just... unbelievable. To be perfectly honest, her irresponsibility about the order really surprises and disappoints me.

Aside from that, thanks for tracking her down and getting some answers, Hitasura. Even if they're not the answers we wanted, it's better than being left wondering.

    45. I hope JoAnne recovers from her health problems soon. I can see how not being able to use a computer is extremely unpleasant.

However, on a personal level, I can't say how extremely disappointed I am by this turn of events. While getting a full refund is better than nothing, after having waited for so long it's incredibly frustrating. There have been 2 other Enchanted Eyes group orders as well as a Dollflower group order, but my money was tied up in this order instead. As stated before, one of those pairs was a Christmas gift for one of my closest friends, and now I need to start afresh on her present.

So we should expect a full refund by June?

    46. I assume she's just having to wait to get the money for the flubbed order back from ED, so yeah... That's probably the way of it. I'm sure it'll work out eventually.

    47. Thank you Hitsura for the update on JoAnn.

It's unfortunate that the order did not go through as I know JoAnn went into this venture with the best of intentions, but I'm glad we'll be getting refunds.

Perhaps when JoAnn is feeling better (and here's to a speedy recovery!), she can let us all know the details about the order - maybe a timeline of some kind. We don't know all the details just yet (and I understand the temptation to jump to negative assumptions), but I'm confident she'll fill us in when she's healthy and able to.

    48. Ummm so am I the only one who has not received an email yet? ^^;

    49. I'm also on the waiting list for the emails to be sent. I'm sure its going to come, and considering the situation, I'm sure she's doing her best. It's also hard when you haven't heard from the actual company either. <_<

Either way, I hope we'll all find out what is going on soon. ^^

    50. I haven't received an email either. Have emails started going out?

    51. Yes, they have. I was told by Nikittin that she received one last week.

I'm sorry if I am coming off as a bit peevish in this matter, I'm just very very concerned. I feel bad for Nikita, but it also really bothers me that when I wrote to her in April to ask about the order she didn't check on it and just assured me it was placed and I needed to wait. :(

    52. Don't worry, you're not the only one who is more than concerned. I'm going to try emailing her myself.

    53. Those who haven't recieved emails yet , please let me know in this thread or PM me. I'll give Jo another call in the next few days to check up and make sure things are being taken care of.

    54. I emailed her as well earlier... still haven't heard anything back. :\

    55. I haven't heard from her yet, but with a list as long as I suspect this one is I figured it would take awhile to sort through everyone.

    56. Still no word from Joann on my side. I emailed her several days ago... Didn't she say she was going to have her sister help with her emails since she was going to be out of commission from surgery?

    57. Cassiel did talk to JoAnn yesterday. Just as an update on her condition, she did have a biopsy done and is waiting on the results so that surgery can be scheduled. Her doctor has instructed her to spend as little time on the computer as possiblel only a few minutes each day so she will not be able to respond to emails proptly. I'm not sure where it stands with her sister helping her with this, but she has set up a way for me and Cassiel to help her answer emails, so we'll be working on this and sending them out as soon as we can.

Thank you all for your continued patience; I know you're all eager to hear from her!

    58. Umm not to be rude but does this mean our refunds will not be coming by the end of the month then? ^^;

I do understand that real life needs to take precedence in this matter and we all hope Nikita recovers quickly, but the fact remains that she does have at least $60+ from us and has since around 12/12, which was nearly 6 months ago.

    59. I'm well aware of the amount of time that has passed, but I'm afraid I can't say exactly when the refunds will start to be sent. I'll be calling Jo this weekend to talk with her more about this and help in any way I can. I don't know if the surgery will delay the refunds or not, but everyone will be getting their money back.

    60. Some good news! I just got off the phone with Jo, and she'll be able to get back online and address everyone personally by the middle of next week. ^^
