Hmm. Buying from Taobao, you usually need some agent.

 

Did you use Google translate? If you are using Chrome as the browser, it should work, but only for the text not the pictures.

You'll most likely need an agent to do the transaction for you if you're buying anything on Taobao. I have no experience with this because I send it to my uncle, and I've never bought a doll from Taobao yet ^^;

I can translate Ygritte's page for you. It'll go from top to bottom, but my Chinese is a bit rusty, so I can't guarantee that the translation is 100% accurate. This post will be very long xD

肤色 means skin color, in the selection box it gives you two options for this: the one on the left is pure white skin and on the right it's echo color (based on picture). It basically means normal skin, and there's a skin comparison on the bottom of the page with DiM where Echo is on the left and DiM on the right. Echo normal skin has a pink undertone, so it'll be on the pinker side of normal skins (pretty much when compared to Volks). The photo was taken in natural light.

Underneath the skin selection, it's the payment. There's two part to this, kind of like a layaway? On the left is the first payment and on the right is the second/last payment. I don't think you'll need to worry about this since I'm assuming that you're using an agent. So I'll just translate the important parts to let you understand the gist of it.

Total fee: 1780 RMB
Fist payment: 500 RMB
Second/last payment: 1280 RMB (pay before they ship the doll)

The price includes:
One nude doll
A pair of glass eyes (random color)
A pair of heel feet
An Echo box
A serial number (One serial number per doll)

Takes 45 working days to be sent out.
If you need make up, it takes 7 more working days.

*The alpaca wig is grown in a natural environment, so it's quality isn't stable, we decided to stop giving it out as a gift (for orders after August 31, 2016), we'll gift a heat resistant wig that was tailored for our ladies' head circumference, please wait for it's arrival.

*If you need faceup please buy it in a separate listing, adding faceup will extend the wait time by 7 more days (If the faceup gets dirty, simply take it off, and it'll return back to normal.

1. After each doll comes back from the factory, it'll be sent to be sanded (seam sanding?), then assembled, and other jobs like restringing. Each doll will be checked before shipping.
2. If there's any questions concerning the quality, it includes but is not limited to cracks caused during shipping, and obvious holes (bubbles?), please contact our customer service after receiving the package within 7 days to solve the problem, we won't take it after seven days.

The photo of the measurements are pretty self explanatory so I won't translate it, but I just want to add that the feet length is 5.5cm since it's not int he picture.

@Chamalam You're right! The style really reminds me of Popovy, Serenade, and many other artist dolls. It's simply gorgeous Shopping through Taobao seems pretty easy if you find an agent, otherwise not many people would buy stuff there internationally xD There's many guides for Taobao too, so check out some Youtube videos since they might be able to help.

Stacey's Pink Ocean is now an official Dealer for them^^ They cost $392 USD plus EMS shipping and ship wihin 3-4 months of production time. I want to know if they'll sell the body separately eventually. :'D

 

Sorry to butt in here. I've been eyeing Aya since I discovered that Echo Town was offering preorders a few months ago. After looking around it seems strange to me that these lovely dolls are going for as low as $195 to as high as almost $400 on several different sites now. Previously I could only find her on Taobao. Maybe it's newbish of me, but is there a reason that her price has inflated so much through the dealer? I know most dealers have a certain range of markup that they can or will do on company dolls, but this one seems crazy steep.

 

Really love them, especially Aya. The body reminds me of popovy a bit, but I am guessing this style is kinda popular now. I may order it from Taobao at some point

So Stacey's replied to me about the body. They do not sell separately, but they also informed me that the proportions are not that of a normal 1/4 doll AT ALL and putting an msd head from another company on one would look very off, so they warned me against trying.

 

I wanted to see what they look like compared to other willowy bodies, so I made a small collage here, for anyone interested.

I myself have been eyeing Ygritte. Not sure why there is such a difference in price on between taobao and Stacy's.

I have messaged the artist myself and spoke to her about buying directly from her.
She takes paypal and the price of the doll is $380 usd + shipping. I have yet to hear back from Echotown regarding payment plans and such~

 

Not sure either. On taobao the doll seems to be about $240, not including shopping service fees (which is about 10%) more, plus shipping. I would guess it would be about $270 in total, plus shipping to me. Since Stacy's is also located in China, I very much doubt I would save on shipping by ordering from them.

 

I caved in and ordered one. It will take a long time to arrive, now with the chinese new year, but I will post pics when I get her

I couldn't find this info anywhere, but I compared her head circ and eye ratio to some other dolls, and I'd say they look like 10mm. I could be wrong though...Both her head and eye socket are so small!

 

Actually, I just remembered a conversation I had with @fansea, they are indeed 10mm

 

I received my Ygritte yesterday!! She is absolutely stunning! The resin is weighty and smooth. No seam lines. I can't say enough good things about the posing ability- she holds all poses and stands like a rock (even in heels). She fits in well with my other slim minis even though her head size is smaller.

I'll get around to taking a few photos of her today, once I decide to stop fiddling around with her

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that there will be new Echo Town dolls next month. I was scrolling through instagram and stumbled upon the artists page. He updated the body over the summer and he is coming out with a new mold as well!

Oh wow! This is the first time I've seen a neck that could move! The new modified body does look gorgeous!

 

It looks like the updated bodies are on sale in Stacy's Pink Ocean site! The only thing I'm not sure about is what head goes with the basic doll. At the bottom is shows all the heads that are available but there are no options to choose which one you want. I'm torn between Aya and and Pepper!

 

Holy price increase Batman! I don't know about spending close to $500 on an msd. I mean, I'm sure they're worth it but.... Wow.

 

xkelpiex What were they before? The price is good though compared to the other msd dolls following this aesthetic. I just discovered these lovelies today and oh my, I am sooo considering one.

@xkelpiex No they are MSD actually. The Popovy is even on the smaller side of MSD (39cm I think).

Yes, they make me think of Popovy and Tender Creation, too. The new body is lovely, and the faces are quite charming (especially Ygritte).

And I think $500 is a good price for this type of detail! Other MSDs of similar high quality - Popovy, Tender Creation, Ancient Tales, Pasha Pasha (although she's technically an SD at 54cm), and dolls from smaller companies are closer to $800+

My only wish is that she came in white skin! However, I'll keep an eye out, and maybe she'll be available in that color in the future!

 

I just saw the ad on SPO. Oh, she is lovely. Love that style of body and the faces are very nice. She would be nice in white skin. Might wait for shoes.

 

Well, yes, it is Popovy Sisters and Tender Creation (could not find the link) I was thinking of. Both difficult to get and very expensive, So 500.00 for this gal seems like a deal to me! Pretty much this body type/aesthetic started with Enchanted Doll, which of course are made of porcelain and only to be admired from afar...by me anyway. At one point she offered a resin version but that was long ago and didn't work out too well.

Other dolls along these lines are the Oasis Doll Miss Porcelain collection--which I would not want to have--way too fragile. If she ever did a resin version i would get one as i love her style and am a fan. And there are some artists on Etsy that are making dolls along these lines and the prices are pretty steep.

I am considering Delores...will have to ponder a bit more.

 

Does anyone think this Argodoll + Echo Town hybrid would work?

The Argodoll "Ifit" face is one of my most favorite faces ever, and I think her body is lovely and natural, but I already own a 1/6 full Ifi (which I want to replace with the larger one) and while her posing range is amazing, her joints feel "loose," not smooth and secure like those of my Ancient Tales doll, or like those of Popovy, Tender Creation, etc. I also like the Echo Town neck joint, and how elegant the hands and feet are.

I don't know if I can buy Argo doll heads separately (but Lany let me buy a lot of extra heads with my 1/6 dolls, so she might be willing to sell me one!), and I am quite sure I would need to buy a full Echo Town doll.

The heads are very close in size (Argodoll 14.5cm, Echo 15cm) and although the Echo neck is slimmer at 6cm (Argodoll's is 6.5cm) I think it might be possible to make that work. The Echo Town heads look a bit large on the body to me, anyway.

Argodoll Normal Pink is a very pale, natural pink. The resin also has a light, almost papery texture.

Anyway, what do you think? (I took these photos from Stacy's Pink Ocean and the Argodoll website and did a little Photoshop magic - the Ifi head size is approximated in the middle photo):

@StellaMarigold- there isn't enough difference that some slightly modding (head opening), wig (noggin size), or minor possible shading to get bodies to match. Resin difference might be a slight issue? That might depend on finishing spray, tooth? It sounds close enough to try.

Recently stumbled across the Echo Town dolls and think they're incredible. Really would love a Delores, but am going to have to wait as really can't justify buying any more dolls right now!

 

xkelpiex SPO is a re-seller and does layaway so there's that. Have you ever used Taobao? I've only been part of group orders for Taobao and it was just for clothes and shoes, not a doll.

Vanytie I can't justify a doll now either, so I won't even try, hehe.

 

Honestly I would be cool with the price rise if it was a decision made by the company itself.
However the price on their Taobao shop was increased only slightly and there's a difference of about $150 between it and the SPO's one.

I'm still wondering if actually buy one of them as I already have too many dolls, but in case I would probably go through a Taobao dealer or directly from their Taobao shop if it's possible.

 

I believe EchoTown are a similar size to Dollzone MSD girls

 

I am very interested in buying one of these dolls and too would like to buy from Taobao at their reduced price but figuring out the website is a bit scary. I tried Google Translate but couldn't figure out where there is a faceup option, etc. Hmmmmm.....

 

Taobao isn't very scary at all if you use an agent! I've ordered clothes from them with no problems!

I'd love to get one of these girls eventually, but I'm more interested in the first two releases. I'm waiting for another head sculpt now!

eta: I found an agent, TB Sourcing Service.
According to my conversations with them after much back and forth the difference between them and SPO approx. $35-50 more than SPO, so not much. This is for a doll with faceup, pink skin and both flat/heeled feet comparison.

 

I am super tempted to go the Taobao way because I really want the body. If anyone cares just for the head let me know

 

Does anyone own Echo Town doll in the light tan skin? I'm so tempted to buy Pepper in this skin but still not sure that this skin has orange undertone or not. I just ordered Delores in the pink skin and hope to receive her soon. I can't wait to see her in person.
