eBay BJD Photo Backdrops from Yomidoll, RaiHing World, etc.?

May 2, 2011

    1. I've noticed some eBay stores selling printed backdrops for BJDs, in various sizes, and featuring various scenes. The sellers currently offering them are Yomidoll and RaiHing World. Just curious if anyone has purchased a backdrop from either of these sellers, and if so, what the quality is like? Did they actually work well as doll photo backdrops? I'm really curious about these, so if anyone has any information, please post it here. Thanks!

    2. Bumping up - anyone have experience with these backdrops?

    3. well. I never order backdrop from either of the two ebay shops.
But I have some backdrops from an early group order with my friend. One of the backdrop I have has the same design as one from.. Yomidoll I think, so I assume mine could come from the same manufacture as Yomidoll's.
I personally like the quality of my backdrops. I've seem some really bad ones with terrible noise, but mine are fine.
To be honest, backdrop are 2D images. No matter how "real" the backdrop looks like, when you take doll pictures, the backgroup will still be pretty fake. but of course if you have some props or furniture which will work with the design of your backdrops, that will help to bring the picture to life.
So this is just my personal opinions and experience, hope they will help.

    4. wow, these look awesome!

    5. I have seen these and wondered are the foldable? can you make them into room box scenes? does anyone have pictures?

    6. If they are the same type as the ones I've seen used on Y!J and IRL, they are rolled cloth. You hang the dowel up and let the "poster" trail across the ground where the doll is going to stand to make the floor.

    7. i have purchased backdrops from the ebay store RaiHing World several times, and have never had a problem. they are prompt in both communication and shipping. the backdrops are made of fabric, a thin muslin i think? and they come rolled up in a tube container. they are photo/computer printed, and the quality is pretty good. the image is sharp, and the colors are bright. my advice when shopping, be mindful of the size you are ordering. they offer different sizes from SD17 to 1/6 size doll. also, you need to purchase by BIN, but there is no way to indicate which one you want. so after purchasing the size you want, contact the seller and let them know which styles you want. they're definitely a fun alternative to a piece of fabric.

    8. There are a few local collectors in my area that have Yomidoll backdrops. They're pretty nice from what I've seen! They seem pretty similar to the RaiHing ones Miss Ally described - printed on a fabric that's rolled into tubes for transport.

You can see pics of dolls with the backdrops in a couple of the recent KC meetup galleries:

I think all the backdrops shown are Yomidoll... I know for sure the "gothic mansion" backdrob from the Feb. 26th one is from Yomidoll.
