Sewing Easy stretchy hat made with socks - Any size

Apr 15, 2020

    1. Hello!

I've found some baby clothes that I've never used and I decided to give them a second chance. This time, I did a beanie hat for my YoSD as the socks I've found were for 3mth old baby, you can use adult and children sized socks to do a very simple and cute hat for your dolls.

I recommend taking your doll's head as an idea of the sock size you'll need. In my case, for my YoSD I used a 3 months old baby sock, but a 6 months old will make it too (but not any smaller)

This is a perfect tutorial for beginners or people that have very little time to sew. Here's a pic of Ignis wearing it

You can also add a pompom if you'd like!

And make two for matching hats!

      Let's start!

First, we'll take your preferred sock size and we cut it as close to the heel and as straight as possible

Turn it around, and start sewing it using zig-zag technique in the opposite part of the elastic end

Once you have all the seam done, pull the thread gently to make it all round. Sew both ends together to seal the thread and turn it around

      Now your hat is done!

Optional: You can also add it a pompom using wool thread and a fork. Here's the video I've used as a guide

      Hope I made myself clear!

      Thanks!
