Resin Comparison DZ Peach VS Doll Leaves WS or NS?

Sep 17, 2021

    1. Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone had comparisons of Doll Zone Peach resin to either Doll Leaves White Skin or Normal Skin? I've not been able to find a comparison of these resins directly and I'm looking at the Doll Leaves MSD Version II boy body for a DZ head I have. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

    2. @huzangkor None of those are DollZone Peach sadly, and after having owned a DZ peach in the past, it very much is different from their white and normal skins.

@MonochromeNocturne I'm sorry this is just my memory, and not an actual photograph, but I remember DZ peach as being lighter and more saturated than my Doll Leaves Normal Skin. DZ peach is like DZ white, but with a pink undertone instead of a yellow undertone. I think it wouldn't match either DL normal or white, but you're probably better off with DL normal skin because at least then they will both have the pink undertone, and should photograph closer. You'll likely need to blush the DZ peach a tad darker though. (second disclaimer that this is my memory. I've since sold my DZ peach skin doll)

EDIT: actually this picture might slightly help. It's DZ peach and DZ white. That should show you how they're the same lightness but one is quite pink undertoned and one is quite yellow undertoned. You're going to need to blush, but as the owner of these plus a DL normal skin body, I reckon you'll have the minimum amount to blush if you match peach to normal skin.

    3. Hmmmm, do you think body blushing could potentially make the WS look closer to the Peach? I ask cause my DZ Benjamin is going to be an albino vampire character, I'm worried the NS body would look too dark for the character.

    4. I found that picture when I looked online before I made the thread, but since Peach is a newer resin DZ offers and Doll Leaves' ones might have changed slightly over time (that picture is from 2012 according to Flickr), I figured to go ahead and make the thread anyway. Thank you, though!

    5. Oh I see! I think it depends which other dolls or backdrops you have it up against. DL Normal Skin (and DZ peach) is still incredibly pale, but if you have it next to similarly pale NS dolls then it wouldn't look albino in that context. Against darker dolls, it will. Most doll company's "normal skins" are almost snow-white, they're so light.

The problem with the pink or yellow undertones is that you can't bodyblush your way out of an undertone. It's too prevalent. You'd need to cover the doll via spray paint or dye, and even then that would likely also have a different sort of undertone (speaking as someone who also has dyed and spraypainted dolls!).

In addition, you will have noticed from that picture that their white and peach are the same lightness. Or in other words: Dollzone's white is darker and more yellow than other company's white skins. They changed their formula in I believe 2015, and their white skin has been yellow-cream ever since. So you won't get anything lighter from DollZone going the other route and trying to exchange the head.

So I really do think your best bet is still to match DZ peach to DL NS. If you try and match resins with a different undertone together, they're going to react very differently to light and it'll be extremely obvious. Sadly I don't think there's an ideal solution to what you're trying to do.

...With the exception of buying a DZ body in peach of course. Which would definitely be the ideal solution.

    6. I can't help with DZ Peach, but DL white is very white. So if you went that route, then airbrushing the head to match (or using many layers of pastels, a pain but can be done) would be your best bet. If you're worried about the NS being too dark for your character, then I'd suggest going with the WS body and color matching the head to it. If it helps, I could try to get a pic of DZ white (2021) next to DL white (2020)?
