Dyeing Dyeing unoa faceplates

Sep 25, 2023

    1. Hello!

I've somehow managed to get myself into making an unoa hybrid which definitely requires dyeing faceplates. Now, the problem lies in the fact that the faceplates have nowhere to have a string tied to - especially for the sleeping faceplate. I've seen glimpses in tuts and videos where people use a sieve or a netting of some sort, but I've failed to find any info on the materials they're made of - perhaps someone knows what I should be looking for.

      thank you!

    2. I once successfully dyed doll parts by putting them in a thin rag (obviously the rag got dyed too). I held a single piece at a time and made a sort of very loose sac with the rag.

    3. Ooo interesting! Did you have any problems with unevenness in where the sac would touch the resin?

    4. You'd want a steel sieve. Steel is a nonreactive metal so it won't affect the dye. You also want to use a steel pot for the same reason. The sieves should be available in the kitchen section in most stores. I got a 3 pack of different sizes and used the medium one for dying hands, feet, and bits. It's the same kind of thing you'd use to dust a cake with powdered sugar

    5. Thank you! That's exactly the info I needed! I'll look for steel sieves :)
