Hello All, There is such a wealth of information in these forums, it is truly fantastic! I did search for this topic, but found so many hits, but none exactly answered the question I have. I'm thinking about making some jewelry, and put some leather crafts strips in my cart. But it dawned on me that these colored leather strips might stain the Resin on the dolls. Does anyone have experience with this? If leather is not the way to go, what is the best option for jewelry making? Edit - I just noticed I was looking at Faux Suade Leather strips - but I guess the questions all still remain. Thank you so much group!
I have used a lot of leather in jewelry and haven't had any problems, but it does depend on how much resin contact there is. If it is a tightly laced collar or bracelet, you may get some dye transfer. It also depends on the leather, deep dyed suede is more problematic than something like high grade Greek leather cord, for example.
It depends on the Faux Leather. I've had zero problems with genuine Ultrasuede and Ultraleather, but cheap-ass pleather can stain.
Also faux leather may degrade and the surface flake over time (like so many of us have experienced with our expensive faux-leather dolls shoes), so might be worth going with the real thing if you want the jewellery to last. Teddy
