Wigs Dye bleeding

Mar 16, 2022

    1. I had someone on Etsy make a fur wig to match Jeremy's stock wig. I just received my wig today and while I was styling it, the black was bleeding on my hands and doll. I had black on my fingertips and anywhere I touched on my doll. I was misting water on my finger tips and working with his hair. Is this normal? Thankfully, the black come off him with a magic eraser, but I'm worried to keep using it.

    2. I make and dye my own alpaca wigs, and to me it seems they didn't rinse the fibers well enough after dyeing. After I dye fiber, I do around 5 baths to make sure the water is running clear. You can probably do cold rinses of the wig yourself (although it's good to check what kind of glue (if any) was used to make sure it can handle being submerged in water. Sorry this happened to you, maybe contact the wig maker as well and see if they have any tips

    3. it's just weird because she charged me a styling fee. Did I get ripped off? if she styled the wig, wouldn't it be coming off on her too? Sorry, I am a total noob.

    4. Honestly I would tell them about it since you were charged for a styling fee and it wasn’t even done properly. I would ask for refund on the fee.

    5. I’m scared now of the black bleeding into the white when i try to rinse it. It’s white with black tips. I’m not doing anything right now. I’ll wait till I hear from the shop

    6. This isn't normal or supposed to happen if you prep the fibers properly (this goes for wigs or anything you dye). I'd reach out to the seller first and let them know. Maybe they never realized or normally do wash the fibers enough and just forgot - it could be an honest mistake and it would be nice to give them an opportunity to fix it. If you don't get a happy resolution, I'd take it up with Etsy and however you paid. Your wig right now isn't exactly usable, and yes, there is a chance that the glue they used is water soluble and washing the wig again would end up with the wig falling apart.
