N/A - don't have a doll, or multiple lenses. I'm planning to get a zoom lens soon but it may have to wait until I get a doll. Unless my parents spring for it.

All sorts - portrait, night, light painting, etc. At first I was put off by the 6.1 megapixels but from what I've learned, too high a MP count can actually result in grainy or over-sensitive pictures, especially if you shoot JPEG instead of RAW. (RAW is the best file format to shoot - but not all computer editors are built to handle it and it will take up way more room on your camera. I shoot high quality JPEG). I really like the way it picks up light and the customizability. I've had equal luck with default modes and with programmed-in settings.

Obviously I love soft focus and shadows, but hopefully you can see from some of the shots that you can get really nice clear photos too.

How do you classify yourself in photography:
Intermediate, I'd say. I don't think I suck or I wouldn't have picspammed you but I know I could get way, way better.
Have you taken photography classes/training before?
Yes, several black and white photography classes that teach basic composition and how to develop. Most of my digital I've learned from books, online and most importantly just doing it. Experimentation is the way to go, I've found. Honestly, with composition that's true to. The rule of thirds is great but if you find, "Hey, I really hate the rule of thirds, I'm going to center everything cuz I LIKE IT" or "what happens if I cut off the edges of the subject and have lots of negative space?" that's up to you and you'll only figure it out by doing it.

Yes. The kit lens is quite a good one actually although the D40 body does not contain a focus motor; this is in the lens instead.

3. When did you purchase your DSLR? It was more of a gift. Well, school equipment that my mom gave me. I was gonna rent one of the school cameras, but the one they gave me was busted. Next thing I know, Mom's handing me this really nice camera that I now lovingly refer to as "Donny".

I started with traditional film cameras so I feel more comfortable with those. I still have been lazy and haven't cracked open the manual to figure out where all the features I'm used to are hidden. overall intermediate.

My Tamron 70-300, although it can shoot Macro, its focal length is too long and the other two lenses are better at shooting landscapes​

I'm better at shooting scenery, landscape, animals, and nature pictures than dolls and portrait (such a shame -___-;; ). I also shoot macro sometimes...but am having trouble with a meter focal length of Tamron 70-300 so I wish to save up for Nikkor 70-200 VR...
I'm really sucks when it comes to indoor shootings, portraits, and night shootings though >___<.

I use both of them, one for a close-ups, another for a long shots. Also, I think that wide-angle one is good enough to shoot SD dolls, but for MSD I prefer to use macro.

Note: I couldn't recommend Canon EF 50 f/2.5 Compact Macro, unless you're ready to shot only with manual focus, 'cause it has some problems with auto focus, some things with pointing.

My 42 It allows for alot of range and depth and isn't too cumbersome. Great for upclose shots.

Portraits. I have nothing to show just yet I have only had it a few months.

Advanced Beginner in photography. I was very into it for several years, and did alot of photography. But I wasn't able to have my own dark room so the cost to develop got to be too much. Only recently was resparked by the chance to use the DSLR. With DSLR I am a baby beginner, I'm still learning how to use functions and often make it still nearly 100% manuel for settings because i'm familiar with it.

Not formaly. My grandfather has 30+ years of photography and he taught me alot about the mechanics of it.

Advanced. While I still don't shoot as often as I could, I have decent command over the technical aspects, including flash. I use Lightroom 4 for post (local adjustments are so good). There's a big difference between advanced and master though.

EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 Telephoto Zoom Lens -- it's a pretty cheap but adequate zoom/telephoto. Probably would have looked for a better lens second-hand but I wanted a zoom ASAP before going on vacation.

The kit lens is a better focal length for dolls than the zoom, so it's the one I use for dolls, but I'm planning on getting either the 50mm prime lens or a macro lens for doll photography as my next lens purchase.

I lugged it on vacation so I've been doing a lot of landscapes. I also like taking pictures of animals.
