Dree, first try sculpting something

May 28, 2012

    1. Well, as the title says this is my first try sculpting or modeling something, I've worked with Super Sculpey and now I'm fixing and retouching with Milliput.
I started in... january? but I'm a slow worker and it still needs a lot of work :o

This is a sketch of the head of Dree

I just started with the arms and one hand the other day and I'm having a lot, A LOT, of problems with the joints D: she can barely stand and I don'k know how to fix the knee problem.

    2. She's lovely! I love that pear-shaped shape.

Could the standing issue be something to do with where her centre of gravity is over her feet? Balancing someone on hooves that small is going to be difficult, never mind balancing all of the joints onto them. That said, it looks like you've really got the joints down right - They look very solid and well-fitted.

    3. Wow. I really like the proportions on that body. XD It looks especially nice in that last image, being held.

Very impressive, especially for your first time sculpting something.

    4. I agree with Devilfloss. The problem with her standing is most likely in her feet. They're just way too small. Thats why most hooved bjds have crazy big feet. I made a robot doll with tiny feet and he was really hard to stand even though his joints worked fine. Imagine yourself trying to balance your whole body on two little "knubs" of feet.

She's looking really good so far! I'm terrible at priming, so good job for priming as you go.

    5. Thank you very much for your comments and advices :]

I'll re-do the hoof-leg joint, so as I'm doing it, I'll do the hooves bigger :]

    6. I like her :) but maybe i´d make her shoulders smaller? :) just an idea <3

    7. Yes, I thought that too, but I don't know how... should I make the breast piece narrower? or is an arm problem?

    8. It looks to me like the arm joints aren't nested very deeply in the shoulder sockets, which is giving her the appearance of having very broad shoulders. If you narrow her shoulders, or widen the sockets so the arm joints sit deeper, she should look less broad-shouldered.

I love her pear-shaped hips! And I am seconding widening her feet. I'm working with Super Sculpey on a similarly sized project, and it's a very heavy clay. It makes getting dolls to stand up much more difficult. So she's going to need bigger feet to help her stand up with all those lovely curves. :)

    9. Sorry for the late answer Cyrrus25 >.< I've widen the shoulder socket, but I don't think it's enough >.< and I've made bigger her hooves bigger, but it's not helping, it's a joint problem >w<

Well, so much time since I post here!
I've fixed some little details, I've made her hooves bigger and modificate the joint, but I can't with the real big problems, the leg/arm joints.
(Badly put horns, just to see how will they go, more or less)

Here you can see legs joints, they completely fail, and I don't know how can I fix them :dead

I have to fix solve the broad shoulders problem too, but first, and more important are legs.

I really need some help ;___;!
