DreamValley Bone Mermaid Liliya Fullset

Jan 18, 2025

    1. She was ordered on June 3rd, 2024 through Alice's Collections, and arrived on January 15, 2025.
I had been considering adding a mermaid to the collection for many years now, I had been eye-ing DollZone's mermaids some ten years ago, but then somehow wasn't the time.

Liliya was the first doll I ordered in over 4 years, even if a later order beat her arrival. I fell for her clear resin tail, as clear resin to me is always so magical and beautiful, and for the fabulous fish bone skeleton inside it.

I figured I would splurge and get her as a full-set, fully painted and blushed. Without further ado:

Beautiful Dream Valley box, even it the lid's edge there a tiny bit torn in its long journey:

Her amazingly beautiful tail. I tried to capture all this in daylight to give as true a representation of her coloring as possible.

      Continued in next post!

    2. Freed fins and arms! Her delicate webbed fingers are lovely.

And in all her glory! With her very lovely face-up, and her fin-ears beautifully blushed as well.

On the special stand I had gotten for her:

Trying on the blue wig and eyes I'd gotten her ( she comes with a blonde mohair wig and brown eyes):

She's so beautiful. Something must be wrong with me. Because we don't click. And I don't know why.

Here she is in her full-set wig. Her upper body poses very well, the tail part is more limited, but I expected that, with those heavy bulky tail sections.

I am shocked at how this gorgeous girl is not sparking the joy inside of me that I had expected. Perhaps it is her size, I have lately enjoyed my large SD girls so much. I have tried eyes and wigs and posing, and am not feeling this lovely baby. Crazy. I'll be thinking on what to do. Thank you for looking, everyone! And for reading my conundrum!

Adding the link to her box opening album in case pictures don't show for people!

    3. Her tail looks amazing. I love the transparency + bones effect.

If you just got her maybe just give her sometime to adjust and get used to her?

    4. The resin encased bones are so cool ^_^ I also like the drip effect that's on her tail & fins. I hope you're able to connect with her!

    5. I have been thinking and fussing around with her. I think I need to ditch the whole idea that she needs a wig. I think she needs something more amazing to crown her little head maybe....
But, do I feel like giving it that time and energy investment, hmmmm....

I'll let her grow on me a few days. I am thinking that maybe she needs a little cap sprouting a few iridescent tendrils with some beads perhaps. I feel a wig on her is just so "heavy", it overwhelms her too much and distracts. And competes with that tail which should have all the attention. It's a process, I'll let it percolate a bit. She is truly very pretty, and maybe adding my own touches will help. I normally don't "do" full sets, for a reason, I am finding out, with this mermaid girl.

    6. Maybe she just needs a shorter hair cut...or maybe one that's complimentary to her tail, orange, or maybe a pastel coral type color. Her tail is he most vibrant part of her, if I had a thought, I would go with a really pale wig that might have some shiny ornament or something. I like her default wig, but I can see it being too long and kind of getting caught in her pelvic fins there. She is lovely and really interesting to look at! I hope she grows on you over time!

    7. Yes! I was thinking this as well, some short, wispy hair that's barely there . I am also thinking now that perhaps her eyes should be pale, as well. Perhaps even pupil-less. I so appreciate all the input, thank you!

Looking at the photos I posted, I like her so much, up to the last photo of her on the stand, just her, no eyes, no wig . I am thinking I need to use that as the starting point for bonding, and for working on her styling.

    9. Ooh! Ooh! I have a guess!
She needs a big mermaid friend!
She is lovely and so tiny! Such a pretty little jewel.
(My dolls have their own dolls, so... :))

    10. She’s a lovely little jewel! I think, perhaps, a head piece like this Luei Water Crown BJD Accessories or some other clear accessory might bring up her clear resin to her head which could add more cohesion to that area.

    11. I think the pale eyes would work well too. Especially with the whole bone thing going on. She's sculpted to look "dead" already, so pale eyes would leave her in that theme, without being overwhelming. Maybe some with a tinge of blue would look interesting. Honestly, I think "finding the character" in the doll can be just as fun as already knowing what you what when they arrive. My oldest doll has gone through a lot of changes as I looked for "her" in various styles. It is as much fun as just instantly loving a doll right out of box! It'll be interesting to see what her personality has to offer as you get to know her better!

    12. Oh my God she looks gorgeous! Her tail is AMAZING!! Maybe the more she sticks around the more she'll connect with you? Possibly because she's smaller it's harder to find that connection!

    13. She really has a presence! The more I look at her the more I love her.

    14. Haha I love the dolls with dolls idea!! No more doll buying for me though for a while!

Wow, that is an amazing suggestion, thank you for that, I LOVE those crowns! Seriously love! Wondering if I should get a small one or a 1/4th that could maybe fit her whole head rather than just perch on top......

Yes, I ordered some pale eyes as well, to see, on Etsy. Thank you for the wise words about discovering her :)

Hoping so too, and I keep telling myself that really, she is not that small, she's like a 1/4th doll's height with that tail, even if her top part is 1/6 th !

      Thank you !

    15. The clear resin is amazing, it looks like glass!

    16. @tanjalalie
I actually ordered one for an off topic doll of mine in the 1/4 size. It just came yesterday and has a diameter of 1.5 inches. There are three spots on the inside of the crown that have little teeth to catch on a wig.
