DreamOfDoll (Dream of Child) Mini DoC Old thread

Jul 10, 2005

    1. I wanted to share the sweet e-mail I recived from them today. I e-mailed them telling them to be strong even with all the problems and all the stuff ^^

      here is the reply:

      "Dear Cacau
Hello, thanks a lot for your mail,
I visit DOD Union once in a while,
and remeber your small website before DOD union and the picture of Cocoa's arriving.
I cannot forget that picture...a girl who lives in abroad looks happy with our DOD.

I also feel uncomfortable about authorization form situation I met this time,
and feels sorry for another customers who feels troublesome with all those documents.
And worries about if any of our customer gets angry because even we do send reply, it doesn't work sometimes..internet thing.
But I feel so happy that you encourage me everytime when we have difficulties.

I know that it was all your affect that you worked really hard with many DOD union people,
      appreciate for this a lot.

I hope you'll have perfect jouney

      with many kisses

      Sung Ran Lee

      DOD"

I cried ^^''' - I'm a bit emotional today. I'm back home after loads of wonderful experiences ^^

      Kisses

      .......Mod Note.....

This is a merged Dream of Child Mini (Dream of Doll) DoC Older thread

    2. I'm just wondering if there are any other companies that make shoes that would fit a DOC? (seeing as DOD is always sold out. :( ) I looked, (and did a search) for other threads dealing with this, and couldn't find any, so sorry if this is a repeat topic. (which it probably is)

I'm looking at the Luts site, now. Would the kid-delf boots fit?

Edit: Also, would the Kid Delf wigs fit a DOC doll?

      Thanks for your help!

    3. Most MSD-sized shoes will fit DoC's, just nothing that says it will fit Sharmin or Unoa. So yes, Kid Delf shoes will fit as should the wigs.

    4. I've got a pair of Narin boots that fit my DoD T.Too just fine.

Poshdolls boots are a wee bit tight, but they'll fit. They'll just make it a bit harder for the doll to stand in.

    5. Too & Bee-A have the same sized head, and wear sized 6/7 or 7 wigs; all the DoC's do.

I have 3 DoD (doc) wigs; the long center-parted wig (W-34) & the waist-length with bangs (W-01) wigs fit just fine & stay on fine, while the short fluffy wig (W-29) comes off too easily & makes them look like hobbits to boot (not their styles), but does fit the head.
The hobbit wig has been stolen by a different doll who wears the same wig size, and stays on with the elastic-band method.

CP Cutie Delf wigs fit on them, so do CH Little Jr. Ai/Petite Ai, Volks SDC (from the girls; Arashi has a bigger head), so do Poshdolls MSD wigs, thanks to their elastic.
I have some cancan j-series, and tokyo pop wigs, but have not yet had a good wig playing-with session since I received them.

      Ann in CT

    6. Too and Bee-A have the smallest heads out of the DOD bunch, so I wouldn't worry about the smaller ones not fitting! My Pitts, who has a much rounder head than my Too & Bee-A, came with a silver wig which actually looks better on Bee-A!

    7. Thanks so much ^^! I was really worried for a while, o.o I was afraid I'd spent all that money for nothing. I've just heard a lot about DoD wigs and a lot of people say they don't fit their dolls - mostly (Tender)Yen owners.

Is the elastic band meathod better? DoD sent me some yellow velcro with my last two wigs. Will that damage the resin or the wig, or even work?

I bought a can-can wig for an SD ^^ I don't have an SD yet though, so I can't try it out.

      Also, seeing as you seem to know alot about wig size, do you happen to know if Leekeworld MSD wigs will fit DoD heads? There's one I really want for my T.Too but I don't know if it will fit or not ^^;

Thanks ^^ I heard somewhere that Too's head was small but I didn't know if Tender Too's was too. (How many 'too's in that sentence? XD )

    8. I have velcro on my Brody's noggin... It does tend to pull the hairs out of FUR wigs, but not out of synthetic ones. I find that it's extremely useful. I don't put the other half of the velcro on the wig itself, though, because then it sticks TOO much for my tastes. Don't worry too much about the fit-- once you get your doll, you can adjust things to make it fit, and if it's too small (which I doubt it'll be, but hey!), you can always sell the ones that are small and get slightly larger ones on Ebay or here in the marketplace.

      :)

    9. Well, the elastic band is easier--try it out & if you don't like it, just take the elastic band off again, no problem.

I think the Leekeworld wigs for the Leeke dolls fit, rather than the MSD sized wigs. I do not have any Leeke wigs, so I can't tell you from my experience, but only hearsay. Try a search for 'what wigs fit' and limit it to the Mini sub-forum; there have been lots of threads.

Volks MSD & some other mid-40 cm dolls wear 7/8 sized wigs.

DoD, Volks SDC girls, Cutie Delf, Unoa, CH Little Jr Ai & Petie Ai, and I think several others (CP Fรฉe?) wear 6/7 or 7 sized wigs.

Wigs with sufficient elastic, such as Poshdolls, go either way.

Besides size, shape of head versus shape of wig can change fit.

The DoD dolls have a tall and rounded headcap, which I think is the same across the DoC range. Too & Bee-A have longer faces, for their slightly more mature look (my pair is 15-16, for example); Twing-Key, Zen, Yen, et al have shorter faces, but I think they're the same through the headcap.
(Goes to stare obsessively at the blank heads in the DoC section--again.)

If you can get to a meet-up with a bunch of dolls & wigs, perhaps the owners will let you try various wigs on a DoC doll, if there's one there. Look in the Meet-Ups section for a meet local to you.

      Good luck.

    10. Wigs--Cutie Delf wigs fit.
Which is good, because my Cutie Delf has not much interest in most of her wigs.

Shoes--MSD shoes fit fine in my experience.
My DoD have worn Poshdolls (Michel (Too) won't take off his sneakers from Poshdolls) shoes & boots :),
juju4dolls (?? Sorry, i don't have have her id memorized--a zillion diff. colors of Maryjanes & several of laced boots),
SDC Kurenai's boots--until my Kurenai found out  ,
      cheap msd sized sneakers,
      Dollheart shoes & boots :D

Some are a little big, but not clown shoes or falling-off too big.

      Ann in CT

    11. I've heard that DoC heads wear about a 7, so some can fit into the 6-7 wigs, and others can fit into the 7-8 wigs. A lot of wigs that fit onto other Mini's are too large to sit comfortably on a DoC head, which is where the rubber-band method comes in handy. 6-7 should, in theory, fit most of them, provided the wig is sized more towards a 7-inch head.

      Again, that's only what I've heard - I don't have the experience to say one way or the other ^^;

    12. Hanako fits in his Kid Delf boots just fine. Even leg length wise they're great :D

    13. sorry if this has been posted before, but the search function here hates me, so i couldn't find anything.

i was wondering which of the LUTS wigs, if any, fit the DOD minis? specifically too and bee-a. LUTS doesn't list any sizes, only in relevance to their dolls, so it makes it a little uncertain. thank you!

    14. Cutie Delf wigs are the right size to fit Too & Bee-A.

My Too's short 'default' wig is a Cutie Delf wig.

      Ann in CT

    15. are the kid delf wigs really too large? i know that it says the size of the kid delf heads are 7.5inches, and the general consensus seems to say that anything over 7inches is too big for doc's. but i really liked one of the kid delf wigs for my too-to-be.

    16. The long, straight black Kid Delf wig (W-25, I think?) is a perfect fit for my Too. It's not elasticised, but is a snug enough fit that it stays on by itself of with a bit of tape if he's going to be handled roughly.

    17. I tried putting my old DOC Bee-A in my Kid Delf Wig and it really is far too large My best bet is the cutie delf wigs

    18. do too and bee-a have different sized heads? or are wigs of the same size just... differently sized? o_O

    19. Theres a pair of Luts Kid delf hand that i would like. ^^

Does anyone know if this works? Please let me know. Thank yoiu so much!

    20. I don't know about the fit.

The resin color will be off; DoD has very pale resin, and not only my CP (a Cutie Delf Mary), but other CP's that I've met at meets have more colored resin, and the white resin is Too white.

You might consider a white set of hands & blushing them, if that's within your comfort zone.

      Ann in CT

    21. [IMG]

Here's a pic of a DOD boy circa late summer, and a CP Kid Delf normalskin hand circa December (I'm mentioning the dates because, of course, resin does vary). It's actually not a bad match -- I put Gav's DOD head on a CP MNF body, and it really isn't noticeable with a wig on.

It's not a *perfect* match (DOD resin is paler and doesn't have the more golden overtone of CP resin), but they're certainly not bad at all. And they seem to be the right size, too, the ball of the CP hand fit into Gav's forearm without a problem.

I *swear* there was another topic here that asked this same question, and I know I posted the same pic in response, but the search function hates me. If you can find it, will you please post the link? I'm pretty sure I had more pictures/detail, but I'm currently feeling rotten and not up to fighting the search anymore.

      HTH!

      -- Andi <3

    22. Nope, that's the one I found, too -- somebody had posted asking about whether DoCs could use Kid Delf hands, and I responded with pictures, but maybe it's been deleted or something, because I can't find it for the life of me.

      *kicks search function*

      Thanks, though!!

      -- A :>

    23. Hm, I got Shin (DOD Si) a white fur wig off ebay and it fits great! The wig is soft and you can style it in many ways.

I am not sure if the style is to your taste but the seller I bought it from was "hamutie28"

    24. DoC are the same head size as Cutie Delf, not Kid Delf.

They are 6/7, as also Volks SDC (the girls, at least), CH petite & little jr., Leekeworld Sweet et al, Unoa, and doubtless some I'm missing.

Poshdolls MSD wigs fit ok, since they have elastic.

MSD wigs in general, and that type, such as Kid Delf, tend to run big, as they are 7/8 size.

      Ann in CT

    25. With just a little bit of help (a rubber band in my case) I can get just about anything to fit on Ryuen (my DoD Si), though my current wig of choice for him is one from DoD because I just like it, but I've tried the wigs of my other dolls on him and some of my friends' dolls' wigs as well and don't really have much trouble.

    26. Their heads are smaller? Really? My DoD has never had trouble with the 7-8" size. She wears easily all my wigs (Ajumapama, Leeke, Souldoll and DoD). I actually find most of the other wigs sit better on her head than the DoD one. She's a MUTANT. o_o

    27. Oh....I was told Kid Delf's were almost exactly the same size as DOC's?
I thought cutie Delfs were a lot shorter and stumpier (cuter, hehe) than Doc's?

    28. Well, yes, but my Cutie Delf Mary's primary wig is the hobbit wig (short wavy brown wig) from DoC. It doesn't fit the DoC's very well.
And she can play Rapunzel in my Too's knee-length blond wig from DoD.

It's just the head sizes & shapes that matter with wigs, not how big the body is. ;) And the style of the hair, which influence how the wefts are sewn on & may distort the wig cap.

The DoC have fairly tall heads, especially Too & Bee-A, while the Cutie Delf have shorter, rounder heads.
The SDC have also round heads, but narrow to an adorable pointed chin.
I didn't notice anything particular about the CH little jr.; he shares wigs with the rest and the CH site says he shares wigs with the CH petite line.

      Ann in CT
time to play with dolls' hair, i think

    29. I hope this is the right place for this question ...

Does anyone know if HappyDoll MSD-sized shoes (particularly female ones, if it makes a difference) will fit a DOC foot? It should, right? ^^;; I assume that even though some MSDs are slimmer than others, the foot sizes are all pretty much the same?

There's a particular pair of HappyDoll shoes I want for my DOC Si ... :sweat

    30. most of the shoes on happydoll are dollheart shoes, so should fit DOCs I should think

happydoll msd size is quite a bit smaller than doc msd size, so the other shoes would not likeyt fit

      hope that helps!

    31. Would MiniFee clothes fit DOC dolls?

    32. yes. because the clothes fit my AR and AR and DOD have really close proportions. the shoes, however, i can't say.

    33. I know there is a post on this somewhere, but for the life of me I cant find it! >_<

I'm after the size and a shop to get some small S-hooks for my minis hands. I've looked all over, but I cant find anywhere near me who have them that small. Anyone know where I can get some in the UK?

      Charlie*^_^*

    34. I'm acctually wondering how the clothes fit, as the mini fee are thinner than dod

so I guess only the looser stuff(and elasticated stuff like the underwear) fit?
cause otherwise I'd like to know how people can get their dolls in smaller clothes

    35. As far as boys go:

Their size *REALLY* isn't that different.

They just have thinner arms from the elbow down, thinner hands, thinner legs from the knee down, and thinner feet:

Thier legs (and maybe thier torsos too) are just a bit longer, so they are a taller mini.

The boy mini-fee clothing I have so far (The striped sweater and the leather pants) fit on my kid delf (though the pants are a bit too long). Most boy clothing I would imagine would fit other MSDs, unless its made tight in the arm cuff or the ankles. Usually clothing won't be tight there because then its hard to get over thier hands/feet.

I have seen boy mini fee clothing on Long-legged Volks MSD, a Bluefairy boy, and Kid delfs, and it fit all of them.

As for girls, their body is very diferent. They can fit into Unoa and Sharmin clothing, and thier clothing seems to fit Unoa/Sharmin. I would guess that the unisex clothing (like the kitty-ear hoodies) would fit most MSD boys and Girls, but things that are tight or form fitting are not likely too.

For Shoes, mini-fee feet are the same length but narrow. Most MSD shoes look too big on the mini fee. I would assume shoes are not interchangable.

    36. I have a MNF-body girl and a DOC girl . . . they do trade clothes, although loose clothes look *huge* on Ivy (MNF/Ttory). I have the MNF "Vivi Set", and the skirt *just* fits Gin (TBee-A). I also have the striped knit sweater (not the one that came with the set) on my TToo :)

I'm not sure about the dresses with very close-fitting waists or sleeves, though, since the MNF are more slender in the waist and have slim arms and small hands.

Here's a picture post with a body comparison between my SSIN Hoantaru (similar measurements/body to DOC) and my MNF-body girl, so you can see the similarities/differences.

Anyway, thus far, all the MNF clothes that I've tried on my DOC girl have fit, although MNF are closer to Unoa/Sharmin in terms of which clothes fit them best, so keep in mind that MNF-specific clothes may run a little small (although the MNF are actually a little taller than Kid Delfs/DOCs).

      HTH!

      -- Andi :)

    37. My sisters Mini-Fee clothing fit my DoC, That was one of the first things I did when she got her doll was try all the clothing she got him on Ayumi! lol

    38. just a question> is there any advantage to use s-hooks?

    39. DoC hands are MUCH easier to change with s-hooks. Their hands are attatched with a string, which DoD ties several times to make sure they don't come off. Its a pain to undo them to change them, atleast I think so.

    40. It is a pain!
And I have also found that they have very little movement in the hands as well.
I know my MSD is made diffrently, but he has so much more movemet then my DoC. I was hopeing S-hooks would at least help a little.

      Charlie*^_^*

    41. Maybe you could try getting some wire at the hardware store and bending it into an appropriately sized S-hook? The don't carry such small sizes at any store near me, so that's what I did with one of my MSD bodies... I'm not sure if it would work with a DOC, but it worked with my Volks doll rather well. ^_^

    42. Charlie,
I've been thinking about this problem, because I've wanted the tiny S-hooks for a long time. I wonder if the restringing kits from Volks had the hooks? Or if we can ask Volks to sell the darn things......boy, that would be helpful. ^^

    43. Cinnamon ~ I did think of that, but I wasnt sure if it would hold under the string pressure. What thickness of wire did you use?

oriscany ~ ohhhh good idea! I have no clue if you get them in the kit or not, its a shame you have to buy all the other stuff to go with it, tho spare string is always good! I wonder if Volks would sell them?

      Charlie*^_^*

    44. dod/doc hands don't have much movement anyways. the old hands anyway. but s-hooks do help out when restrining. my boy's s-hooks are made out of paperclips. i just bent them with pliers into the proper shape. I was afraid they wouldn't be strong enough, but you'd be surprised. ^^

    45. I've poked around and I can't find a thread on this myself, so if one already exists I would love it if someone could point me in that direction.

I'm looking for help restringing a DoC, specifically, removing the head from the body. I can't get the s hook/elastic knot out of the neck hole *feels stoopid* Is there a guide out there for this? I'll lvoe you forever if you could point me at it.

    46. Oh, God.
Removing DOC's head is hell. It took three of us (three!) to remove Ichiiro's head, and we still lost the second string, which means ... restringing. They're strung really, really tightly, which means pulling those strings up over the S-hook is a bitch. It can be done, it just takes some time, effort and brute force.

    47. I think the Si head has more character than the girls' heads and still looks soft enough for a girl, just more life-like, not so dolly faced. Whaddaya think?

    48. Yes, there's been a few lovely Si girls here on DoA! With the DoCs, as far as I can tell, all the heads fit on both the boy body and the girl body.

    49. It should work since Zen can go on both boy and girl bodies ^.^

      If that's not true my bad >_>;

      ~Dottie

    50. actually~ this info would be SOOOO helpful

i cant even take off the headcap from my yen ^^:; so changing his eyes was a bit more difficult (i have big hands, and therefore not so delicate fingers)...........

      i cant imagine trying to re-string him ;0;

    51. When I got my Bee-A (who is my best stander) I took pictures of how she was strung. She is exactly like Luts and they have a pictorial stringing guide on there website. I must have pretty strong fingers as she was easier than my big boy. Hemostats really help and I use either smallish ribbon or this cotton tape I have around for bookbinding stuff which is also used to tie up books when their covers start to loosen. I thread it through the body (again hemostats help here) all the way to the feet, tie the elastic with a single knot and pull...the knot does slip once in a while but I'm not hot on purchasing something I know I'll break (like the stringing tool).

The headcap is a pain but I got used to messing with my El's head that the smaller head was easier - I can't stress how hemostats really make this easier and I found mine at Michael's Craft Store (and I think the A.C. Moore may have them too). So far I have yet to knick anyone either.

    52. When i got my DoC Wi last week, me and my friend had to take his head off to paint his face. I agree, it was really difficult to undo the knot. But with a little playing with you can undo it, it just takes pulling of like.. one bit at a time XD!

To loosen the stuff up, have you tried taking off the feet? It's easier to pull the feet out then the head and you can loop a ribbon through the foot string so that when the string goes up into your dolls leg, you can easily pull it out again. Once you get the feet off, the stringing should be really loose. It'll be tons easier to get stuff off of the S hook and get the knot undone too. Be sure to stick a pencil or a pen through the string at his kneck before you take out the knot. It'll keep the string from going into the body.

      Good luck!

PS: me and my friend didn't use any type of restringing tool. just 2 things of ribbon and a pen/pencil.

    53. Baru > I dunno about the guardian boys, but the old DOC kids are strung with their feet right to the elastic, no little S-hooks or anything. Removing the feet would require unstringing him entirely, anyway.

    54. Exactly my point-all dolls are different.

I thought a databse or a Sticky would help us recognise different strining techniques and how to unstring/part-string our dolls.
Im terrified of trying to work that headcap off....the sight of straining elastic brings back memories of having elastic bands flicked at me as a child, lol!

    55. Oh ok then. I didn't know :P Maybe it's with the newer dolls then? Cuz my boy has S hooks for feet and a magnetic skull cap. I'm not sure if that applies with everyone's doll at this point tho o_o

Oh well, you can always try what i did if you have the newer body.

    56. Unfortuately I'm working with a Tender Too, and he has the older body. Going at it from the feet would probably only prove to be more difficult XD but I am determined to do this, because I also have a tender yen that's going to need restriging soon as well.

Rosa : I'd love to see those pictures if you have them available. It would probably help quite a bit.

    57. Here's my crappy pictures link - they probably won't be much help...she's secondhand so I don't know whether she's been taken apart previous to me. I didn't have to loosen any elastic knots either - but I cut the strings for her hands (replaced with thin white ribbon). I'll probably but ribbon on her hands for the S-hooks (when I find them) at some point.

Mine has no magnetic headcap or s-hooks in the feet - giant s-hook in the head, resin places for elastic to catch in feet with little toppers to go over...I pulled the head up enough to get my hemostats in to clamp, then strained and got the headcap off. I think that's the hardest part.

      http://www.rosapalomino.com/crafts/abjd/bee_a/stringing/stringing.htm

    58. baru > yeah, I have DOC Zen I ordered October04. I have no idea if they've updated the feet & headcap of the non-Guardians.

    59. Thanks so much for the pictures Rosa. When I get home, I'll give it another go.

Meep> I have a Tender Yen I recieved in October of 2005, and they have not updated them to be the same as the guardian boys.
