40–49cm Dolls Dream Valley Fawna Box Opening turned Hybriding Adventure

Nov 29, 2024

    1. As a bit of an introduction, I bought Fawna back when she was released by Dream Valley (as well as a couple other items from DDE) in February; fast forward 9 months and she's finally here. I got her originally with a character plan in mind, but then like 2 days before she's supposed to arrive, I look again at the head I got and decided at the last second that I was not going to use it. :doh Well, with plan a out of the way, I immediately started thinking about my minifee hybrid with gem of doll where the body was completely the wrong color. That decision leads down a whole rabbit hole, but buckle in because it's time for this hybriding adventure to get started. We'll also have a surprise visit from my Coral Reef Feng who is going to get pulled along for the ride.

absolutely gorgeous packaging and beautiful doll. Dream Valley never disappoints. One this that I did not expect was that the torso and legs were strung separately. I've had fairyland dolls with this set up before, but they've always been much more floppy. SO, at least at this point, I was under the assumption that the legs were strung with the rest of the body.
But for now, let us just enjoy the beautiful sculpting.

This beautiful head already has a home and a plan for it. One of my friends will be taking it for a longtime project of theirs.
And here is where the box opening should, by all regards, end. Unfortunately - or fortunately for you guys coming along for the ride - this is far from the end.
Now that the body is unpacked, the next thing was to see if the NS pink resin would be a good match for fairyland NS.

honestly it looks pretty good! so I plow ahead with the hybrid!

this picture here is very deceptive in its simplicity. In truth, it took me over an hour to do all the restringing necessary to get this thing on. After I got the mechanism loose from the first body, I started to unstring the Dream Valley body from the hooves. It was only after I had both legs off that I made the realization that I mentioned earlier - the torso and body are strung separately. So all that work that I did to get the legs off was, in fact, all for nothing. But one misadventure later and she's together!

The resin match is pretty good, but for those of you interested in hybriding these two companies, beware the neck gap. I was expecting it since wonderful people on this website had mentioned it before, but I still wanted to give another warning for anyone interested.
I had bought a gorgeous Coral Reef outfit that was in stock at DDE at the same time as the body so I decided to start dressing her up and seeing how the doll looked all together.

And, I was really disappointed. Something about this looked wrong to me. This is where my Coral Reef Feng came to the rescue.
      To be continued....

    2. First mistake on my part was putting the outfit on my Coral Reef Feng. I was immediately in love.

Now, that's not usually a detail I'd mention in a box opening - but remembered how I mentioned that this was a hybriding misadventure? Well, this is where the real fun begins. This is when the little mad scientist in my head started speaking and said "you know- I bet Feng would look really good with those goat hooves."
I've done some hybriding of Dream Valley parts before. Last year I bought some Leopard legs and put them on two Aimerai girls to great results. Please excuse the lack of pics, I'm going to see if I can find some later on.

I actually worked out pretty well. The resin match is terrible, and the hip socket is very so slightly too big but it's not a problem for me. I think she looks great. I really need to fix the wardrobe malfunction going on with her top but that's a project for another day.

This naturally led to the opposite question - would the coral reef legs work on the dream valley body? Honestly I love the proportions. The hips are slightly too big for the socket, but its so small a difference that I'm fine with it.

and here they both are all together. I'm super happy with them both. now I just need to find my MSD clothes so I can give my Hwayu a proper outfit.
Hope you guys enjoyed the read! This was a super fun detour to have for me.

    6. Oh wow I really really love how this journey ended up, and I also find the proportions of the Coral Reef legs with the Dream Valley body sooooo darling! I have to admit I myself have been wanting to hybrid a Fairyland head onto a different body, and I adore Dream Valley's bodies so..... consider me inspired!

    7. I completely agree!! I love the creativity this hobby lets me have. It’s just so much fun to bring concepts to life!

Thank you! I’m really happy with how it came out too.
’ve been on a major minifee hybrid kick too. Apparently impldolls “real” resin color is a good match for fairyland NS so I know that’s what I’m eyeing next.
