Modification Dream Valley Eve Painting

Mar 16, 2022

    1. I ordered white blank dream valley Eve (sleepy eye) and a Bor (awake) dragons; and thought I would document the painting and customising process. As I have two, the thought of unstringing one was less scary as I would leave one assembled to compare (despite painting them both at once making more sense). Feedback welcome - especially as I will have another one to paint after this!

      My planned steps

Step 1: Unstring and organise parts (38 resin parts not including face - I will do the face plates last) DONE
Step 2: Seal parts (should I do this once piece at a time? I feel 38 parts would be unmanagable and end up with dust and accidents)
Step 3: plan and test blushing and paint (or dye); develop characters and names
Step 4: do blush and paint
      Step 5: re assemble
Step 6: Do face plate paint

Bor immediately stole my Tianba eyes!

    2. Step 1: Unstring and organise parts

Below are the photos I took during the unstringing; I had to cut the elastics as the knots were too tight to risk pulling through the tiny channels.

    3. I can't wait to see what happens next !

    4. I have a Bor, I thought about taking him apart to paint but most of my friends who are used to tinies said it’s very hard to put them back together. In the end I painted him whole. I need to redo his eye lines but he didn’t turn out too bad for my first attempt. You are braver than I am but lucky that you have another doll to reference when putting back together. I can’t wait to see how he turns out. I mulled a bunch of colour schemes for him, and without realising it he ended up in the same kind of green he would have come in as default. XD I might look around for ideas online to try again. Someone made theirs look like charizard. :)

    5. Oh my gosh, someone else with one of the lil dragons! I have a Bor (who is.. still in pieces while I wait for the humidity to return to MSC-friendly levels), but man Eve is also too precious for words!

Good thinking on the baggies, too - there are so many parts for a doll so small.
Quick question, how did yours pose before you unstrung them? Mine was pretty floppy and I'm just curious if that's the norm or just bad luck.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for these two!
