:EDIT: HIS NECK ISSUES WERE BECAUSE I'M DUMB, AND FORGOT HOW TO PULL UP THE S HOOK. HIS NECK IS FINE. DX Well, except for a small imperfection during casting, which personally I don't care about. Thanks everyone, I didn't realize I was supposed to pull up, I thought the short-side of the hook was the right way. >> I'm still kinda doll-new to this sorta thing. Firstly, some fun box shots. My other 2 dolls were camera shy, so Ciel is here again for this box opening too! I guess this is tradition for him now. And also my rats Coconut and Aperture say hello! I've never seen a doll box so big in my life. Even when the twins came together, stacked one on top of the other, the box was not this big. This is cray-cray! Because he came in a jumble, and I kinda straightened him out from his packaging, I didn't get a shot of him in his foam. XD But here he is all laid out! He has a tiny dark spot on his belly that came off with the magic eraser, so no big deal. His neck has an imperfection. But I don't care! I got him all sat up with his lil dragon friend. Who came perfectly, by the way! My doll came with a similar card, and it's the neatest certificate ever because it allows you to name your own doll on it, a mistake I made with Ciel, my first doll ever. I marked his name on the card when it was meant to be his sculpt..... XD DV actually lets you name yourself! That's all for now guys. In any case, time to get him dressed. I lost his eyes (I'm so frickin mad) and the wig was junk (ouch) so after I get him set up, I'll take owner pics of what he looks like customized up. I'm sure someone will beat me to the punch by then - I'm flat broke now. XD Thanks for lookin! :EDIT 2: I got him in a basic outfit for you guys to see. .)
Wow! That neck gap is terrible. Could the head be modded so the neck hole is bigger? That said, I love the look of his body. It's lean and elegant.
That is... really strange. I'm having a hard time understanding what's even happening with the engineering to make it behave like that... It's a shame, because it's a really beautiful body. Still excited to see what you do with him, though! Your ratties are so cute, btw!
I don't understand your red flag. Of course you can just sit the head on the neck without pulling the s-hook through. That's step one of attaching a head and obviously the slot has to be large enough for the hook to pass through. After you sat it there did you pull the s-hook up through the head and twist it to sit in the notches on the sides of the head's slot?
The way it looks is that it may have just slipped out or possibly was not attached during transit (I have seen some DV dolls sent this way to avoid breakage). I think if you tried to pull the head up, it should be fine. ^^ Some dolls may have some bigger gapping like that to allow for better mobility - if it is an issue, though, maybe try some sueding around the inside of his neck hole, that should help with any posing issues. I hope that helps! He is a very lovely doll, though! Congratulations on your arrival~~!
as @scripple said i believe you just need to pull the s hook up and twist it into its proper grove inside the head. if the elastic is very tight this may require using a tool to get a good grip on the hook, or put a ribbon through the s hook so you can hold that to aid in pulling.
Oh man I love the aesthetic but a head not fitting on the body it's supposed to be for is a bit of a yikes.....is that neck damage on both sides or just one? Also how is his posing? Sometimes dents in the neck like that are because the body is too tightly strung and the s hook is digging in....I'm awfully sorry you got him like this I'm a tad nervous for my boy.... I hope you cand find his eyes and get a good wig too ;v; Gary looks awesome blank! Edit: i agree with posters above about trying to pull the s hook up through the head. It's worth a shot! ^^;
Congratulations! I'm happy that you got the doll you love! I've always admired big Dream Valley boys! But to be honest, I'd be quite disappointed. There are too many flaws for me. I'd accept the neck imperfection (it's easy to fix), but lose head isn't something I'd tolerate. Maybe you could try a rubber joint pad to make it better?
There's nothing wrong with just being able to sit the head on the neck without yanking on the S hook...but did you pull it all of the way up into the open space of the head and then turn it sideways, finally lowering it to fit into the notches after that? Sorry if you did and it's too obvious a question, but I can't quite see what's going on in there, since you didn't take the second picture until after you filled the area with putty. Looking at the first picture, though, it just looks exactly like a standard head should look, and I can't understand why it should be loose and wobbly. He's a gorgeous sculpt, in any event - so congrats on bringing him home!
UPDATE - I'm a dumb newbie n forgot that you had to pull up the rope and twist the FAT side of the S hook into the nook, not the small side..... >> His neck is completely fine minus the casting imperfection! Thanks for helping me fix that. ;c; N00b mistake. I've only ever restrung one doll and it was a nightmare, that came out floppy. I totally forgot to twist it UP. >> I edited my OP! Thank you all!
Don't worry I'm just a dumdum...... I didn't pull the S hook all the way up into his head. >> He's fine, just the neck imperfection!
Omg he is gorgeous (and so is Ciel tbh), I haven't heard if this brand yet and he is just so lovely and delicate! Definitely adding this sculpt to my wish list, congrats!
Oh, that's good to know! He is a gorgeous sculpt so it's great that everything works fine. Congratulations on getting him!
