Dream Valley Athos, Aiden II Boy & Wolf arrive

Aug 5, 2020

    1. It has been an exciting few weeks as suddenly packages are liberated from various shipping points.
Long awaited 1/3 sized Athos, and diminutive 1/6 sized Aiden II Boy and Aiden II event wolf have all arrived.
All are Dream Valley's white skin, and the pet wolf is factory blushed.

Methos as always, is on hand to help new arrivals out of their boxes and welcome them to the crew.

^^^ Athos' box was much worse for the wear after taking two trips to the airport.
Somehow he was returned to factory, and so was posted again but without re-packaging the outer box. His S hook broke through both boxes and was somewhat gouged into the neck on arrival. Fortunately that is covered by the head and no other damage observed despite the ridiculously tight stringing. If the head was not separate, we might have a different story to tell. The small box in the right hand corner is the event wolf, and two pairs of extra feet are wrapped and near his arms. *note: backdrop is faux fur.

Athos is out of his box and finally home. He truly is a beautiful sculpt with long, lithe lines.

Athos with a temporary look, extra feet and a little wolf-in-a-box.
The feet have magnets, and his do not, so I will be finding solutions

Athos holds event pet wolf Aiden II, and Aiden II boy is nestled in his travel box.
I really like how the pet wolf fits in his arms perfectly. He looks so poised and graceful.

All together now; Athos, Aiden II boy & event wolf Aiden II. A bit of a family portrait parody just for fun. Aiden boy's little monster hands are really something with their sharp, tiny detailed claws. His ears have heavy duty magnets, but we will see how they hold up with a wig soon enough. Somehow his spiky mace and extra hands to grip did not make it in the shipment, so hopefully they are on the way separately.

    10. Thank you <3 they are so beautiful in person, the texture and weight, and how they pose, it is all very well done. I'm still missing a few small parts for the wolf boy, but hopefully they will come in soon :thumbup

    11. I am in love with Athos. Body, pose, hair, everything. Really curious what you'll end up doing about the extra footsies! It is very odd they sent them without a magnetic joint.

Do you find poseability differs a lot between DC and DV? Also, weird question, but would the extra DC joints fit the DV body? I have some... ideas brewing.

    12. Hello @mxwutter *waves*
The extra feet i bought go with the B56 bodies (60cm) and those have magnetic hands and feet, which i sort of knew, but thought they would send the magnet joint with them. I'm looking for some joints of the right size i can put magnets in. I mostly wanted the heel feet for posing with a demi pointed foot, and potentially for heeled boots so i'm not too worried about him standing properly in them.

Posing: i feel like out of the box, the DV is more stable, especially to stand. where I put his arm, it stays, things like that. the DC ones i will have to tighten elastic, suede & wire. None of my DC have been able to stand right out of the box. I do like how the DC make relaxed poses and slump though, so it is a trade off.

i've not tried the extra joints in the DV body, but i can line up the bodies to see how close the diameters are. Athos is strung tight enough i'm reluctant to take him apart, it will be so difficult to get him back together. the DV body is so realistic, you will sacrifice that appearance with the extra joints.

    13. Hey @Grimalkin *sweats bc of terrible manners*

I also was looking to get the extra feet, specifically for posing.

Oh definitely wasn't asking for you to take him apart, I can only imagine the pain that would be. A side by side would help tremendously, I eyeball most things anyway. DV is very realistic in comparison, and yet I've been having such a struggle choosing between a DV and DC, despite the obvious differences between them. That is probably why I'm so intrigued by the idea of mashing them together in a sense. It may end up being horrible, who knows, but I love experimenting.

Budgeting forces me to go for 1/4, which is why I became more attracted to the DV, which does have double hip joint I feel I desperately need. Seeing your Methos though has made me want DC more once again. I must choose! (but how ;-; )Side by side, it feels the DC is more fluid in its posing. I don't know if that can be borrowed with a bit of hybridisation, or if I will be forced to rethink the project altogether.

    14. no worries, seriously :aangel: i mentioned it because felt bad too since it's no problem with some of the others to take apart, but the last round with switching out hands on my DV was quite a struggle, stabbed myself something unholy that time when my wooden stay snapped in half. :XD:
i should do a little vignette for you with my DV & DC 1/4's since they are different from the 1/3's :)

    15. Thank you, I just assumed all bjds are a pain to take apart and it is thus an endeavour not to be embarked upon lightly. I am now afraid of wooden stays and wish to purchase a carbon steel one to avoid injury, as I have a dangerous tendency of hurting myself on innocuous objects that mean me no harm. But my clumsiness knows no bounds, so, in other words, I am a danger to myself.

      Again, thank you <3

    16. I can't wait to see how they look all done up, Dream Valley bodies are probably my favourite.
