I dont have a DOI myself but i think they fit fine in SD17 clothes :3

IIRC, SD17s are 65cm to 69cm tall. You would be better off getting 70cm boy clothes, I would think. I have a DoI Luke, and Tohma can fit anything (so far) that a Hound can wear, since they're also around the same measurements.

Here is a pic of Tohma I took when someone asked "how tall is 70cm?" He's wearing a Sabik-sized shirt and a pair of Tata's Paradise Hound-sized black jeans. (And for the record, I'm now on the 5th book in the series. )

Hey all, I'd like to echo the previous topic of companion dolls for DOTs. I'd love to see other company dolls full shots with your DOT size dream of dolls to see how they look in a 'family'. Because DOD sculpts look more stylised I was wanting some comparisons with other company sculpts and sizes. So consider it a photo request.

Hmm.... Thats odd.. SD17 clothes fit perfectly for my IOS70cm boy and DOIs are slimmer than IOS70 so i thought SD17 would be a better fit for them compared to 70cm boy clothes. I do however prefer my boys clothes to be form fitting tho.. so maybe thats why ?

Are you looking for DOT couples with a different company partner or DOT in the crew with other company's sculpts ?
I cant help with DOT partners but i can probably get a few shots of my DOT boy with other dolls

 

@Buzzibee: Fein is on DOI body, so I can't really show DOT size. I do have a Spiritdoll V2 Proud body to compare the both with, if you are interested.

@Ebzeee : It depends on different shop's default measurements of 70cm. I have a mixture of too loose and very fitting outfits from different shop's version of 70cm. DollHeart is a good fit. M3 Studio a tad bit loose and longer pants. I also researched different company's measurements of their dolls and found out DOI's shoulder is wider than some of the other company's SD17 while the girth of chest is not that huge compared to a 70cm.

 

I have spiritdoll proud and elegance, resin soul 62 and 70, minifee, angelstudio 72 (maybe it was Angels doll I forget, it's a cloze), a DZ 64, and a very modded girl body that i can't for the life of me think of the name of... oh fantasy doll. If you have an interest in a comparison with any of those bodies just let me know. Azriel will grudgingly oblige. I have other msds too but they are all around the mnfee size. I will get shots when I get home if you like.

 

The B is in his default outfit so thats made to fit him, 2 of my boys are in that group shot and they are in SD17 clothes even tho they are 70cm boys (from IOS and 68cm from Crobi), so i would say its safe to say that they can fit into SD17 clothes fine.

I actually checked it out with a friend of mine that owns a DOI and she said that they fit fine for SD17 clothes, cept for the pants' length which will be till the ankle of a DOI. So if you are looking for form fitting clothes, i would definitely suggest getting SD17 clothes ^-^ ...

 

xTempest - I'm looking for DOTs in a crew. I'd like my doll additions to look like they belong together.

KiAN - I'm looking at comparing heights of DOT with other company similar size ranges.

I don't suppose anyone has DOT with Iplehouse nYID. I'm also curious about DOT size and style comparison with Souldoll Double or Zenith dolls.

Well, if you're patient... I will order nYID Chris on Layaway, so it will take some time till he gets to me. Maybe someone else will be able to help you somewhat earlier.

 

I think that's where my head was. The clothes will more than likely fit, but may be short length-wise. Idunno, I don't really have any SD17s.

And for the record, Tohma has this outfit. The pants look amazing when he's standing, but when he sits in them, they pop open and also show buttcrack. I'm going to make him some of similar material that fit.

I suppose because I'm used to my three SDs, I don't find Tohma much heavier. I think I remember reading somewhere that they're like 5-6 pounds. I don't know offhand what that is in kilograms. For me, its the long legs that are a bit more to deal with, but again, I'm used to carrying a SD around. I prefer to use the "limo" (aka umbrella stroller) when I have him, but only because I'm taking more than one doll with me when he goes.

If only I could afford DH clothes right now.... Hopefully sometime soon.

I have an SD17, but I have no DOI to compare him with. Everybody's missing something!

My old DOT weighs about the same as an SD13 of comparable vintage, maybe a little less.

 

It depends on the company i guess. DoI weighs more than a DoT but less than a Crobi B-Line. I got to play with a DoI about 2 sundays ago and i remember His owner whipping him out of the doll bag and handing me a naked The B... first thing i realised was that he was surprisingly heavy for his frame o.o"

Buzzibee I have thursday off so I will attempt to get everyone in some form of clothing and all gathered into some spot. I will warn you of the ones that are modded because their height relation will be inaccurate. I have two or three... or... wow maybe four or more at this point that I have rejointed for movement which alters their measurements depending on what I choose to do. I'm actually going to do that mod to Azriel as well because I know I can give him a lot more flexibility and it's really a rather simple mod. I want to make his arms work better too. The bindy shoulders thing is annoying. he always looks like he's asking me for something because he's so locked up when compared to some of my other guys and can only sit in a few choice poses with his arms and hands the way they are mostly palms up. If I want him to pick his nose I don't want him to argue with me about it... and incidentally I think he is asking me for pants. I won't have Gray for a while. I have discovered that I must move in between now and august, more in august, but I have to do the whole save for a roof thing which kinda is screwing my dolly plans -_-. I hate that. I have his hair, his eyes, the fabric for his clothes... I am only missing the hot chunk of resin that is him. It's really... really annoying.

Ryu do you sew at all? or any of you guys for that matter. I mean after I finish Azriel's clothes just let me know if you want me to share the pattern. I make them all from a convertable pattern that I made ages ago. I have a knack for making it fit everyone though. If you like what Azriel is wearing and how it fits, I would happily share it if there is interest so you guys can sew your own. After I purchased a couple outfits and found they fit no one I owned, despite they were roughly the right size, I got angry and made my own patterns and sew most of the clothes I have on my guys. Now I just alter it for each individual in my house XD so they all have the perfect fit.

Speaking of Azriel... I started his branding. When he was a boy, he was chosen to be the tribal leader's right hand. That choice was made by the men of the tribe, but he still had to pass a test to see if it was his fate. The mark goes up his left arm and down his left side. It passes over all of the veins in his arm and across his heart. I had to study Sumerian, Babylonian, and Akkadian in order to figure out how to make it so.... yeah, That is why I haven't really been posting my bundle of joy. It was meant to kill him or, if he lived, prove his strength. It managed in really pissing him off. He always took it as being marked as a servant or a slave instead of being given a place of honor.

 

Myrretah, I sew, but by hand so it takes me a while to make things. I love hand-sewing, its eally easy to undo when I make a mistake. I"m still working on Tohma's Sanji cosplay, I simply HATE sewing that collar on, its being SO difficult!

Your boy is really gorgeous, btw! Are his brandings carved on or sculpted?

Ryu they are both. That is the first step which is the carving. Then I will add to the edges where his skin would have bunched as they dragged what they used across him. It makes it look more realistic when you have the indentation as well as the relief on severe scarring like that. I have another guy that has extensive non-healing wounds and they turned out really well so I was confident doing similar work on Azriel. I'm excited to finish them but I am so a point were I need to shove his pelvis in the freezer to pry out that annoying plug thing before I can continue. I want him functional so I can eliminate those few choice rub areas and protect my work, as well as his midsection.

I have a digital pattern for the pants already in my computer, so once you see Azriel's, just let me know if you want me to email it to you. It is super easy and it won't leave anything exposed that you aren't happy to see. I admit I like hot guy plumber's crack, just a touch when they sit.... it's sexy when they aren't 20,000 pounds and coated in fur.

 

Ive got the picture on my laptop at home (am stuck in the office at the moment -_-) but i was too sick to get outta bed yesterday T_T ... Will post it tonight when i get home!!

Btw, I love the branding on your boy!! its really pretty!!

Well, he might not totally look like he "belongs", because he's the only tan vampire elf in a pack of NS humans... but if you overlook that little detail, he fits in just fine. Size-wize & style-wise, I think DOT fits well with Volks dudes (left to right: SD17, SD13, SGraffiti).

 

Oh, I'm just curious as to how the scarring is done. I don't currently have anyone that actually needs it. I think that its just so cool that you were able to do that! I'm kind of following your progress, so if you have a thread that shows how its done, linkme to it, okay?

I do think Severin fit into the group well because of the overall style.
Azriel's branding looks really good. I really like the patterns.
xTempest's crew is just beautiful.

 

So I have good news and bad news and good news. Good news first: I got a small group shot. It consists of three of them together, all undead... all in varying stages of personality. Bad news: it took forever and is with my stupid cell phone because I don't have a lens. Good News: A lens for my rebel is on the way and then I will get a proper group shot with more of my crew in it.

Who is in the shot from left to right: Andreus is the blond and is also the character with the unhealing wounds that I had mentioned. He is so modded that his sculpt, both head and body are pretty much unrecognizable. I have a better picture of he and Azriel interacting a bit more if you want to see more of him. Azriel is fascinated by him. In the center he should require no intro. Azriel does believe he is the master of all of this... whatever this may be. He doesn't need clothes or a body blush to be perfect. Lets see what he thinks when I put his pelvis on ice. And Nicky. Nichodemus is the only doll I have that remains in his original unmodded unsueded glory. He behaved so well out of the box I just haven't touched him. I will probably suede his shoulders so he doesn't grind down his registration, but otherwise he remains flawless, well almost. Nicky has a piercing. I can't post it... it's... in a rather sensitive spot. Anyway, he would rather be anywhere but close to Azriel so what you see is the result, true unfettered disgust. Yanno, sometimes that punk looks like he's smiling but here.... nope. Andreus and Nicky are both sporting variations on the pants I'm going to make for Azriel. Azriel is holding the material that will probably make Nicky's vest for his gentleman's suit. Nicky is not amused, but Andreus thinks it's hilarious.

 

Thanks JennyNemisis. I looked at Volks when you posted that shot of your crew previously. They have limited sculpts? Is there any difference between their USA site and the .co.jp site? The SD13 section I looked at only had a couple of boys and they look very "young" to me... They don't draw me in like DODs, but it may just be that volks shows them in the bare minimum. Cause your boys look more dynamic.

That's right, I forgot I had already posted the same picture the last time you asked the same question! My brain is old and full of holes, I always forget who asks what.

Anyway, yes, those three Volks guys happen to be all LEs. Most of their dolls are LE anymore, and require chasing down via lottery events or secondhand auctions... they've got very few Basic models at all, and those that remain are pretty old-school designs. Volks & DOD were both around in the old days (i.e. 2005 ^^), when the prevailing BJD style was all big eyes & pointy noses, and their sculpts used to go quite well together. The old DOT body was deliberately made the same size/shape as SD13 for clothes-sharing.

You're right that they don't always draw you in-- Volks is known for having such blah sales photos that everybody is shocked at how cool the IRL doll is. ^^ If you can see through the styling that they put on, the dolls're full of possibilities. For example, the guy on the far right was originally a warlord, SDGr Masamune Date in a hakama & sword. But when I looked at him, I saw Fetish Queen instead of Warlord. xD SD13 Tony was a teenaged Harajuku-hipster schoolboy before I got hold of him. SD17 Hikaru Genji was an 11th-century Japanese noble man in a fabulous Heian-period costume, but I dress him in PVC. Almost none of my Volks boys are recognizable as their default sets.

Severin always seems recognizable as a default set, though, because he happened to come with a fabulous sexy leather getup, and I have LOTS of other fabulous sexy leather getups to put him in. I think he looks most chummy with Laika, the blonde; they have those unwholesome smirks.

(PS. Yes, shopping from the Volks Japan vs USA stores often yields different results.)

Right now, Tohma is kind of holding in his lap my newest resinoyd, Noriko who is OffT for this thread. Once I'm done with my latest sewing project, I'm going to start off his homemade wardrobe by making him a vest. He's eventually going to be somewhat steampunk when he's not being a rock star.

So I have been busy. I just wanted to pop in and say hello and post a visitor I have here. His name is Michael. I just finished some work on him. I love him so much. I'm so glad to have him here for a bit. It's funny because I thought the Camin was always a little too wide eyed and looked pretty startled all the time. Now though... he looks much older, not so innocent, and Michael himself is a rather snarky guy so he has this attitude. I love how his piercings came out. They suit him. I have been looking forward to having him here since I met his mom, so I'm super thrilled. I'll post more pictures of him when I can.

I've been out of this thread for an age, but finally getting back into it! Erynn is having some changes to her character at the moment, and I started with her wig. I used a second hand one a friend donated to my doll pile, a little trimming and braiding and it is sitting reasonably well - I am going to have to get her a nice new one as soon as I can afford it!

Hello guys!

I- I have a small problem. Maybe someone can help me? You see, I disassembled my DoT boy but forgot to check which parts go right and which left. I noticed that some parts have 1 dot and others have 2 dots marked on them. Do you know what goes where? or could someone check for me on their boys please? They are marked on the front of the ankle joint wall, on the walls of the wrist at the joint, and the walls of the elbow on the joint.

I have a photo of my DOT with a few of my other dolls mostly as size reference for a friend of mine.



Left to right and ignoring the Tiny which is a Ndoll Pan with Soom hooves (27cm), Migidoll Miho on a DIM body (60cm), Angelregion Diana (57cm), Luts SSDF Aragorn (70cm), and of course DOT Camine (65cm)

As far as similarly stylized I'd say my Luts is closer to DOD's style without being the same company. Migidoll is a bit more 'realisticly' styled and Angerlregion is kinda more stylized. His eyes are HUGE (20mm! and I thought Camine had big eyes) and his nose its pointier than a CP. Overall I think they all fit together pretty well though. If you want any photos of the others with Carmine specifically let me know.

 

Hehe thanks - I am thinking of getting her one in a similar style that doesn't have braids (you can't see them in the pic, they go behind her head), and maybe a little darker. And a new wardrobe! I'll start sewing that as soon as my current project is finished!

 

I haven't taken apart Tohma, my DoI Luke yet, but I'd recommend putting all the one dot parts on one side and the two dot parts on the other, and seeing how the fit/work/look.

Anyone else ever take apart their doll/s?

Cough... yes. I have taken mine... apart. And everyone elses' since Micheal is currently a head with a large pile of body parts next to him. Two dots go on the right when they are facing you. it would be their natural left.

 

I have taken Severin apart before, yes, and I don't think I even noticed there were dots... I was concentrating too intensely on letting absolutely nothing happen that could possibly cause a scratch or chip or gaaaaaah on an OOAK body.

I just make two piles! The old-style DOT body isn't terribly complicated (no double joints or anything), so there's not a lot of room for error anyway. I've dismembered a great many 60cm dolls in my day; it gets fairly instinctual after awhile. ^^

But thank you Myrretah for the tip-- just in case I forget myself next time, now I know that 2 dots = doll's left.

 

No worries at all. I use the piles too, and the thumbs and toes method... but I am always nervous I am going to derp and so noted about the dots.

I have a really dumb question for you guys... maybe you can help me figure this out. I finally finished Azriel's pants so he won't look so, greek and togaesque all the time... and I posted it to flickr so some of my friends would see the work I did because I liked how they came out. They are a little baggy for my taste to be honest, but the silk is nice and they fit him really rather well. Anyway, all of that is beside the point. I posted the picture and then my phone started to go fruity. I was excited, yanno? It's flickr and a pic I took was getting hits so I clicked to see what picture and that's when I started scratching my head... It's this picture:



Like I said I love the silk and I lined the vest. I tried. It was my first time making anything that was lined but I liked the swirling material. that still isn't the point. Why is a picture of Azriel's crotch, that I put no tags on at all, the most popular image I have ever posted on flickr. I hate to say it but most of my other guys are even better hung. I don't get it. Why this picture? I love him to bits and I really did try hard... but I'm sorta freaking out because it is literally had 5,000 views since I posted it yesterday evening. I'm not even playing. HALP me understand. Do DODs have magical crotches or something? I am not a popular person at all. What's going on :whines:

I'll be honest - I like the lining and the way you've laced the pants XD But I am a seamstress so I don't think my opinion can count for the rest of flickr haha.

As for the restringing question, I haven't restrung a DoT before, but when I restring my RS girl and my MNF (who has a BAJILLION parts) I usually lay them out on a tray/table and stick them down with eyeputty/kneadable eraser to stop them getting lost. If I have to stop halfway through, I string them together with ribbon in a loop, so that all the pieces are in order for each 'bit' (arm, arm, torso/body, leg leg) cause it keeps them all together so I can do it when I have the time.

 

Yah, I'd guess the abs too. Enjoy the attention he's getting. Nice sewing, btw!

I bet some people think he a humanoid, and NOT a resinoyd!

I'm glad you guys like the sewing. I'm alwaya a little worried that I have made some tragic mistake. I had wondered if maybe people thought he might be a real boy too, LOL. I get pictures like that sometimes. I like it when I do and I will more often now that I have a better lens (or a lens at all) for my camera. I'll have to take a picture of him standing in the pants so you can see how they fit him. I like lace up pants a lot. I kinda made a pair for most of my guys, but Azriel's have those little fasteners. Now I just need to make him a dumb shirt, huh? Or maybe not with how many hits his crotch got jeez.

 

@Myrretah: That looks really good! :B It also might be because people love looking at DOD crotch and abs. Also, that smooth and beautiful skin... *ahem*

Does the new head have teeth. He looks like a ducan with an open mouth, eh? I think I like him. I certainly don't have a fear of a doll with an open mouth, I've even done the mod to open the mouth and teeth when they are called for, even though I don't yet have many that I post. I'm steadily saving for my Orrl though. He's the one I will order from them next and though that little one is tempting, he would sit in a box no matter how cute he is and I fear that He would just be an empty shell in my hands. I have something similar that I love so it would be a waste :.

That is a gorgeous picture of Fein. I love the pipe. I can almost smell the hint of smoke.

Well, I asked them twice this year if they might re-release him, to which they had replied that, yes, they will. I almost wish they would have done so later this year, I am really out of money (and next on my list had been a female doll... UH. I'll be having an SD sausage fest at home!) but well... that's what savings are for @_@

On another note - I really do not like the new dream heads. And additionally, they look way too similar?

 

I was really wanting a tan from DOD too. But I promised my floating head a body first! I have a Code and love him dearly, but was hoping for a different boy tan sculpt. I'm also not sold on Talia as a sculpt, I feel like she can't express too much emotion because her face is almost too perfect, too symmetrical? But but tan skin!!! Gah! @-@; Sigh

Should probably not order anything this event and just hope that they do more tan releases in the not too distant future. Also hanging out for a grey skin girl, that'd be awesome!

I agree Kazegoroshi that this event's dreams do look very similar. Not sure how I feel about them. They look like they have sneaky/sexy eyes...

Mm... the release of Black Code 2 could NOT be any worse T_T ... Code2 has been on my wish list for forever and the tanned one just looks so perfect >.< ....

Why is 02 DOI size? I did not want a doll this big... but I think I will have to get him. I wrote a mail asking about a DOT version, even though it's most likely futile.
