I was thinking, wouldn't it be better to have one thread for DoT and one for DoI so the info doesn't mix up? o_o;

 

WARM WEATHER IS AMAZING. I'll hopefully have my Ducan and Camine's new faceups done by Tuesday, life permitting, hehe.

 

I think a combined thread is fine since it is so quiet. I don't have a DOI myself so I guess we could get their opinion if they want to make their own thread or not.

 

Hi all. ^^ I have a character, Seto, who was going to be a Ringdoll Grown sculpt, but Ringdoll's having problems and it just may never happen... So I've been looking at other sculpts and the DOI boys are really growing on me. I think Kellan might fit him quite well.

Picspam of DOI guys would be appreciated if anyone feels up to sharing. I'll go see if the old thread here is still viewable, too.

 

Hello, everyone! I'm pretty new to this world and I thought I'd introduce myself to you guys.
As you can tell by my signature, I am currently saving for a D.O.I. Kellan. I'm really excited.
I have everything possible already planned.
Technically, I have enough for him, but the other money is supposed to be my car fund.
Haha, I don't even have a license. (Maybe I can convince my parents to let me get a doll before a car.)
I have a bike I can ride.
I'd appreciate knowing anything and everything you could possibly tell me about Dream of Doll and their D.O.I.s.

 

One thing I really want to know is if you have seen any converse-type shoes that would fit a D.O.I.?
The character I have in mind for my Kellan defintely wouldn't wear the type of shoes that they have on their website.
I do love their shoes, though.

But now I have a dilemma. I have to choose between Homme Ducan, Tender Shall, Code No.02, or Calla. Help! D:
Or maybe a DOI instead?
And I need to choose a face-up for whichever sculpt I end up picking, too. Why does DoD have so many amazing dolls?

I can't wait to see some owner pictures of Ives and Kellan! It's always exciting when DoD reveals a new doll. They look like very interesting sculpts.

 

@The Mitten King: The sculpt & face-up you choose would probably have to depend on the character and personality of the doll you have in mind. I personally find Code No.2 to be one of the very few sculpts which look masculine. Most boys are very pretty, at times too pretty for my liking. Hope you get what I mean ~

Currently I'm waiting for the arrival of 2 boys, Sha & Code No.2 and 2 floating DreamHead4 (one with and one without scar)~

 

I know exactly what you mean! Problem is, I tend to develop the character after I get the doll. I do like the masculinity of Code No.02. It' a nice change of pace from some of the other sculpts. And congratulations on your Sha, too! I'd love to see pictures of them~

 

Wow! You're awesome to be able to do that! I can never do so; I would probably be stuck with a sculpt which failed to develop its character...

Yea, 9 weeks and I'm still waiting waiting waiting... Even if they arrived it would be another couple of weeks before my boys are ready. Sha needs a pair of elf ears and Code No.2 needs to be scarred. So many things on my mind, clothes, accessories...etc

 

Ahaha! I guess that's true, too. I just find it easier that way because I don't know what the doll is going to look like in real life until I have it in my arms. I mean, sure, it takes work, but most dolls do. And it's totally worth it.

How do you find the quality of Dream of Doll clothes (specifically DOT/DOI)? I've considered getting an outfit from them but I'm not sure.

 

DOD's outfits are nice quality and I'd imagine they'd fit their own dolls better than anything. I love the default outfit on my bf's E-an, but it bugs me I don't see much I like for the boys on the website. : [

 

I'll have to take a look at what they have available...

 

I think they have an interesting style. I've heard a lot of bad about Homme Ducan's default outfit, though.
And I really wish you could buy the top hats that come with some of their outfits separately.

 

Regarding the fit for the clothes, I did get Ducans default with him. The problem with it is the pants. He can wear them fine standing but he cannot sit in them without them opening up and going halfway down his butt.

 

Yeah, that's what I'd heard. Seems strange that their own outfit doesn't fit too well. Do you think they've fixed it since then?
Though I don't think I'll buy Ducan's default outfit when I order him, anyway.

 

I've noticed from the latest clothes I've gotten from DOD that it seems they've fixed the pants problem they had in the older clothes but if you buy one of the older outfits they have not fixed the problem.

 

I have another of their outfits and it fits perfectly. They can sit in the pants without them falling down. (this one)

 

Well that's good to know. Their outfits really are nice. My boy could use some real clothes.

I've been looking at their clothes, and they do indeed have nice stuff. I might pick out a pair of pants to order with Kaji when I have the money so he'd have something I know would fit. It's good to know the newer things fit.

 

I'm considering maybe either a DOI A&D or DOT Homme Ducan. Does anyone else think they look similar?
I also really like Tender Shall, U-i, and Code no.02.
And I've heard that the shipping cost of DOIs kills, but I have no first-hand experience. Can anyone who received a DOI from Dream of Doll back this up? In your opinion, how big are DOIs compared to DOTs?

 

I'd like to know what the shipping for DoIs is like, too... I'll need to know how much to save.

If you're planning to buy directly from DoD, you can always place a mock order. You can put everything you want into your cart and move through the order process until it asks you to select your shipping type and zone, then click next, at which point it will tell you exactly how much your shipping cost would be. :3 Then you can cancel the order instead of moving on to the last step.

I'm really hoping to get an E-an soon, so I've done the mock order a couple of times to check shipping, and the cart is user friendly; the order steps are clearly labeled, so you can cancel before going to the last step and avoid accidentally placing a real order.

For what it's worth, though, my estimated shipping for E-an was about $68, and for a DOI (without anything else in the cart), it was only $76.

HI!!!! Ok sooo i been reading through this thread and been seeing what it all about. Ok so i own a DOT Camine (Wolfgang) and a DOI Luke (Titan) aaaand the Code No. 2....who i ordered only to have the new boy body and switched the head out wwith Wolfgang. I love both my boys and they are so cute together. I bought a lot of clothes and wish i had a computer to upload pictures i have but cant at this time. Ok so not to have favoritism, but i enjoy Wolfgang a wee bit more. Again he is wearing Code No. 2 body s keep this in mind while i talk about him. So yeah he is a mit more muscled and and defined while Titan is of course BIGGER but more lanky. Also, i have a bone to pick! Although Wolfgang has a great face and awesome posing abilities, Titan is a bit harder to get right. He has this thing where his head is made weird or sumething so he cant look up or keep his head in certain positions. Welp lemmie kno what is up later. =)g

@racoondevil: Sounds like it might be his tension is off? Have you looked to see if the elastic is twisted?

Also, I have a question~ Does anyone have a Code 2 body and the Dream Head 4? I'd really like to see what the size comparison is on that. I know the Dream Head looks a little funny on the normal DOT body sometimes. Would it be any different on the DOT type 2 body?

I have to say, I'm becoming more and more impressed by how stable DOD is for posing. It took me forever to get him to stand on this complicated dance shot, but it was worth it.

Oh yes, very true. That pose was a nightmare to get. Once, I thought I had managed it and then got my camera. As I was getting down low on the floor, OMG there he goes! I managed to catch him by the leg before anything hit the hardwood.

Yes, the lesson with the big DODs here is that their tight stringing makes it so that they can stand in unique ways. Their tight stringing also makes it so that they can start falling down very rapidly.
