Dragon's Shell Doll Minis

I am almost done with the faceup on my smaller 4-5 size ferret/Connor from Detroit:Become human! Here is a picture of him blank, but I am hoping to finish him really soon. Just painted his eyebrows last night.

I finished him! Well his faceup anyway. He still needs his wig, better eyes and maaaaybeee outfit. We shall see. I am just glad I was able to blush the pale pink normal skin to match Dollshe oriental.

 

Thank you! His face looks a bit more yellow toned in the photo than irl, but the body is newer so it should look better once the resin mellows.

The instructions also include a way to have the LED through that metal ring so the wiring follows the stringing into the chest. I just haven't tried it. I like having quick access to take the battery out, though.

 

Oh thank goodness there's a discussion thread for DSDoll now! I have a ferret as well, just finally got his eyes in today! Think I'm going to break down and order him a custom wig, just haven't found anything that quite suits him yet, including this new one here :P



It looks like DSDoll will be releasing the msd version of pitbull here soon too, I'm so excited! Anyone else planning on pre-ordering one? I know I am!

He's on the Nidum Dolls body that they offered with their pre-order. I like how elegant it is, though I've been struggling to find decent clothes for him XD Luckily I finally found someone on Etsy that sells Iplehouse FID clothes which SHOULD fit him, but we'll see!

 

Oh that's who I bought from on Etsy too! I compared the measurements of FIDs vs the Nidum body and they matched really closely so I am hopeful! XD Got him some shoes and 6mm eyes from there too since I misordered on his original ones and got 8mm >_>

 

Hi! I just realized a thread for this size is here. Here's my Ferret with a faceup. I'm also in the group waiting for Sartoria J clothes to arrive. Has anybody tried 5-6" wigs on them? How do they fit? I bought the oval glass 6mm eyes from BlueberryStyle.



I've named him Nikolai.

 

Adorable @davri ! As for wigs, 5/6 has worked out well for me overall! Still trying to find the perfect one, but as far as the actual size go, it definitely works.

I'll post pictures this weekend, but my Sartoria J clothes arrived...

It's a bit of a mixed bag. The pants fit well around the waist, but are really, really long. Shirts are the same way. Pretty good fit around the shoulders, but the sleeves are really long on him. The boots I bought are huge for his little feet, but don't look too bad. Like army boots, oversized but not hilariously so.

Not bad, but if you are looking for perfection it will drive you insane.

Haven't found a wig the right size I like yet. Might have to try doing one myself. Eek.

 

My SartoriaJ clothes finally came in the other day! Sadly, the pants are way too big in the waist, but luckily you can't really tell thanks to his shirt XD That's a little long in the sleeves, but not in a bad way. I'll probably just look up some tutorials on how to take clothes in *strokes chin*

 

Well, my cruise I had planned got cancelled due the the recent craziness. Boo, no vacation. But hey, I get a full refund! So I'll have plenty of money to commission a wig for Nikolai!

 

I'm thinking SophyMolly on etsy. They have a couple of styles I like, but not the colors I want, so... commission.

Eeek! I am so, so very tempted to order Dog! Last pre-order wasn't a good time, money-wise. Neither is this time, for that matter, as I ordered another doll the day before yesterday.

I'm wondering about the skin colors, @skyealloway. Does your Dog head not match the body's color? From your Instagram photos I thought the head looked a lot paler than the body.

I'm happy to see that these guys look good next to Creature Doll girls. The minute I saw Ghost, all I could think was how much he looks like Creature Doll Karin. If the elf ears are available for any of the guys, he could be Karin's twin. But I don't know...I still love Dog. What I don't love is the idea of another hard-to-dress male. I suppose I could make something, but man, I hate dressing guys.

 

Yaaas I broke down and ordered Pitbull in the Deep Normal resin color, I'm so excited! Somehow wound up managing to order two dolls yesterday which is a first for me >_> But Dollshe was having a mega sale so what else was I supposed to do, lol.
The Nidum Dolls body can definitely be a bit hard to dress, though, I'll admit. I'm breaking out my sewing machine today to make some masks anyways so maybe I'll make a stab at some simple pants or something while I'm at it XD
I would be curious to find out how these heads work on a FID body... does anyone know?

 

Well that's good to know, I'll keep that in mind as I shop for my boys!

 

Thanks @skyealloway - that's good to know. If the head is slightly less pink than the body, I'm sure the faceup will take care of it. I'm so close to pulling the trigger and ordering: Dog or Ghost? Ghost or Dog? Can't get both.

 

@vermont chick - if it helps make up your mind, my vote goes to Ghost, personally XD

 

One vote for each. Gee, that really helps nail down my choice. I want both, but I absolutely, positively can't afford two. To make matters worse, another company is bringing back some tinies I want. It's not fair!

 

My thinking is that by buying heads only, I can get both Dog and Ghost. I suspect/hope that they will fit on a Luts Model Delf boy body, but I have some other bodies that might work.

I never used to buy floating heads, but now that my collection has outgrown the space I have for it, heads are looking like a very viable option.

 

It all depends on the size of the neck. I have two Model Delf boys, both normal skin but one is a little older and he has mellowed a bit, so I don't know if he'll match even if the head fits. I don't have the neck measurement. I never know exactly where on the neck they take the circumference so I don't know where to measure. Still, the price is right so I'm willing to get both heads and experiment with my various fashion male bodies. Something's gonna fit, right? I'm assuming pale normal will be my best color option.

Iplehouse JID boys are a similar size, too, with the right size neck. I don't know how they'll look with a tiny head, though.

 

I did it! I ordered Dog and Ghost heads today. Now to check my email to see if I've been invoiced yet. Can't wait for them to get here. It will be interesting to see whose bodies they manage to steal.

 

Thanks! I paid this morning, so all I have to do now is sit back and wait. How many months it will take is anybody's guess, but I imagine she won't make anything until the end of the pre-order period.

 

I sure hope so. Not that there's any real rush, I just want them in time to do faceups before the snow flies.

 

Yeah if I remember right my ferret shipped a month after the pre-orders closed? It was very fast.

 

That was probably before Covid-19, right? It may ship quickly but then it may get hung up somewhere that still has a quarantine in effect.

 

I really like Pitbull, but the head is bigger than my Dollshe Fashion boys...but then again I have an agatti Edmund/Edmund Vampire on the way who also has a bigger head than my Dollshe boys. I guess I should just bite the bullet and get him, huh?

 

@redmaiko - You should bite the bullet and get Pitbull. I have a Dollshe Fashion Saint whose head is smaller than all my other fashion guy heads. No matter which fashion bjd you buy in the future, I have a feeling it will have a bigger head than Dollshe's.

 

It was, yeah, who knows how that will affect shipping *sighs* at the very least, though, the actual creator does have a history of getting orders out in a timely fashion so that's something.

@redmaiko I'm pretty sure fashion Dollshes have pretty notoriously small heads in general, so if you ever want to own another doll not within that same line I think you're going to have to bite that bullet regardless XD. I would be curious to see just what the difference looks like, though; I've got a Fashion Dollshe Maxi Grant Phillipe on order myself.

 

Yup, I just went for it. I prefer the smaller heads, but yeah. Every other company/artist gravitates toward larger msd as you guys mentioned. So he is ordered!! Thanks for the nudge guys! lol

 

Way to go @redmaiko! I don't think you'll find his head too big. Dollshe fashion heads are roughly size 4-5 while other brands are size 5-6. It's not a huge difference. Congrats!
