Dragon Con 2015 BJD programming + Meet-up

    1. I am happy to announce that I just got back the schedule from the Art Show, and the Painting BJDs panel will be on SATURDAY at 2:30PM, in Hanover Hall. This panel will be covering Do-It-Yourself for Face-ups, sueding, wiring and mods, maybe some very basic pattern drafting, with Q&A. This is all about enabling other hobbyists to do their own work for their BJDs. I'll also be doing a giveaway. See everyone there!

      If you are running a BJD-related panel or have a time suggestion for a meet-up, or multiple meet-ups at Dragon Con, please post and I'll add it to this post.

      Blakrose will be running a general information BJD panel on the Silk Road track, 11:30am on Friday.


      Thurs:
      9:00PM- Meet-up Westin Lobby

      Fri:
      11:30AM - BJD Informational panel run by Blakrose on the Silk Road track.
      3:00 PM- 6th Floor Hilton Meet-up

      Sat:
      2:30PM- Specifically Face-up and other aesthetic panel run by Buff on the Art Show track
      4:00 PM - Meetup downstairs in the Hyatt. The lowest floor at the bottom of the escalator, there is a big open spot near the bathrooms. We can just hang out and play for a little while.

    3. Dragoncon is less than a month away and no one else has started a thread so I thought I would. Thursday evening seems to be the con meetup time with the best turn out. Many people come in on Thursday (to avoid the horrendously long lines on Friday) but other than a sometimes few filk band concerts not much goes on at the convention on Thursday. 10th Floor of the Marriott is no longer an open space free for photoshoots and meetups so perhaps the Westin lobby (it has a lot of seating and isn't as crowded as the Hyatt or the Marriott) at 9 PM on Thursday.

      We usually have several meetups during the con- both for people who can't make it to one and for those that just like to socialize a lot with other people who have bjd while at Dragoncon. Anyone who wants to post other meetup times during the con please do!

    4. The 4pm on Saturday sounds good so far. Have to see when the full schedule comes out to be certain. But count in myself and two others. We missed last years and were sad pandas for it.

    6. I know in years past there have been impromptu meetings on lounge floors of the Hilton, and even one on the 10th floor Marriott.
      Are there any plans for those this year?

    7. Hilton has open (free) space on 6th floor and 19th floor, so if people want to have quick meet and greets and swaps and such there, I'm game. :)

    9. I saw the Friday 11:30 one too. Sadly myself and two others can't make that one. I hope there is still one for Saturday. Buff, are we still on for that?

    10. If you want to schedule the meetups during the con: Fri-Mon please do. I saw no one had posted a thread yet at the beginning of this month so I posted a Thursday meetup place and time to get the ball rolling.

      So we have Thursday, September 3rd at 9 PM in the Westin lobby

      And I would suggest the 6th floor over the 19th at the Hilton for any Fri-Mon meetups, the elevators are so slow during the con (worse than even the Marriott's)

    11. We can do that. (Though I always end up on 27 or 28, so I'm used to the wait.)

      So... 6th Floor Hilton, Friday at 3pm?

    12. If I'm not at a panel or photoshoot I'll be there. (For me during the con usually just evenings- after the panels are done- are good for me, except for Monday, then as soon as the con ends- around 5/6 PM) But maybe other people will show up. :)

    14. There is a thread, here, http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...n-Con-2015-BJD-programming-Meet-up?p=11669695 which I started a long while ago under 'conventions'. Its awesome to do a few meetups! There is one set for Saturday 4PM in the Hyatt. You certainly do NOT have to go to the 2:30 Face-up Panel, but it'll follow that. Which means anyone that is coming from that panel will probably be there earlier than 4, by some amount. Basically, from the Art Show level of the Hyatt, there is an escalator that takes you down to an open space, with rooms branching out in hallways to either side. We'll just plop down in the open space there. Its a large space. We won't be in anyone's way. HOpefully I can make these other times too! SO EXCITED! EEEE!

    15. Sounds like its perfect, with one Thursday night, Friday, and Sat, hopefully everyone can make it to one of those. Thanks for posting the link to that. Thanks so much for clearing the panel time up. She sent me a message that it was Sat, :( I'll fix that right away! But I'm glad its Friday, actually...means I can go!

    17. Thanks about the link to your thread, it had apparently fallen into the void by early August and I didn't see it! I didn't make my post in the Convention folder because the description made it sound like it was just for ABJ specific conventions. Thanks for the list of panels, I checked a while back and hadn't seen any ABJ panels in the schedule. I'll have to look at the panel schedule and see if I have any conflicts. If I don't have a panel or a cosplay photoshoot to go to I'll be there.

    21. It's my 12th Dragoncon, and I drive down. :)

      In my room in the Westin and never seen so tiny a bathroom- the doorway is barely wider than me, and the door almost hits the handle of the shower door!

      To make it clear what lobby in the Westin we'll be meeting tonight at 9- it's the one near the hotel reservation desk, there's a Starbucks in the hotel that is facing that lobby. Not in the Starbucks seating area, but the seating area with couches and chairs across from it. If you are coming from the Hilton, etc and come into the Westin on the Peachtree Street side take the escalators down one floor. The lobby area is very close to the escalators.
