Dolpa 19 discussion

Just to warn everyone, there is a chance there might be a recall on the boy Little Red Riding Hood outfit. I put mine on my Yo SD Kuuta (Kira) yesterday and it seems a bit small on him since the top button of his pants won't easily button, either that or he has been indulging in too many Frappucinos. XD;

 

Do we have dates/times for the After Event yet? And is the AE page up for Volks International yet?

I just realized there is an outfit my boys must have! *lol* Usually my girls do all the clothes begging.

 

Thanks for the heads up rkold - yikes! If one moved the button over would it work?? I have some Chibi blue velvet knickers that are way too big! But they are from a while back - I think it was something called the winter set?

One other warning about the after event. 2 or 3 times now I have tried to get the clothes during the after event only to learn they went on sale long on the international site BEFORE they were supposed to according to Volk's posted schedule; Sometimes 2 hours before the time. Also they seem to relase the items in small batches so if an item is sold out or won't load, keep trying.

Wait, at the after event, you can literally go to the store to purchase a doll or outfit if you couldn't win it at the lottery event? This is my first time, please excuse my ignorance.

 

The After Event takes place on the website and the Volks stores in Japan. This is in no way affiliated to the LA Sumika. The lottery is the only thing that they provide through that shop. If you lost the lottery, you may try going on the international website, but you need a really good connection and computer to beat the rush. Since you're in California, the time for it should be the same like the previous ones, 6PM for clothes and shoes and 2AM for all the limited stuff. Next time, please read a few posts before yours. Someone answered it earlier.

Also, I dont believe that anyone said anything about this, but VolksUSA will usually sell the same outfits at their USA store both online and at the store. This happens about a month or more after the online sale. Unfortunately, due to the many problems with the last outfit batch, I don't believe that VolksUSA will be selling any of them.

In Japan you can, yes, but it's also a lottery. I've done it twice now, successful once, failed the second time. The sumika in Japan are given a supply of dolls/clothes from the Dollpa and just like the actual event you get up really early and line up hoping for a good number. For some people it makes sense to go in person, sometimes it's better to try online.

For me it takes over two hours to get to my local Sumika so if line up starts at 8:30-9:00 in the morning that means I have to leave by 6:00 in the morning to make sure I get there. So yeah, sometimes better to try online.

Thanks for all of the info. The sad part is that everything is a lottery for LEDs and nothing is certain if you can purchase a limited edition doll if I'm correct.

 

OMG -- I was just reading through the posts about how the After Event works. Then, I realized my heart is racing and I'm getting all sweaty. I'm getting all agitated just reading about it. Yikes!!!! I might have some sort of breakdown during the actual AE!!!! Who knew that doll collecting was a competitive sport?? They could make a reality show about all of us and our quest. I think I'll have to give the AE a try just for the experience.

 

Everyone seems to panic when the AE comes around. It's quite stressful since they make people wait and wait and then when the items are ready to be put in the cart, they're suddenly "SOLD OUT."

I remember on the Kyoto Dolpa 5 After Event, a lot of people were stressed out because either the Volks International site kept freezing or they can't click on an item or LE Doll even though it's not sold out.

I see a good internet connection, persistence and patience can help you get the stuff you want from the AE.

 

In the After Event on the Volks International Website, the Limited Edition dolls are not lottery. You can actually just put them in your cart as and check out as fast as you can.

No need to wait whether you won the ability to purchase the doll or not. The only caveat is that there are so many people putting all the LE dolls in their carts and trying to check out all at the same time that the site freezes or crashes.

 

Oh yeah, I remembered the Kyoto Dolpa 5 AE. That one still upsets me since most of the items weren't available until like 4-5 hours after the time that they posted on their site. >_<

Gradually Volks seems to have improved their internet service - I don't get absolute crashes during the after events like I used to. One of the really amazing things about getting a doll at the after event is that it may arrive VERY fast. I won Amelia during the after event on a very late night of keyboard roulette. She arrived at home about 3 days later. I was totally amazed!!!
Now with the last one though (Kyoto 5) Volks warned us all that some of the dolls would not arrive for some time.

 

So, the AE still has the dolls, but you have to purchase it as quickly as possible. Are the dolls and clothes sold out in minutes?

 

Yes, but in a few seconds actually. The most popular dolls and items are gone in a blink of an eye.

 

Midori: Yeah, I was also frustrated because I wanted to get some SD girl boots but it was already sold out in a blink of an eye! T_T

Sheri: Yeah, I noticed that VOLKS INC site doesn't lag as much even with the large influx of people shopping at the same time during the AE.

It is true that you get your LE dolls and clothes faster than the lottery at USA Volks site--but you still got to have luck on your side as well as a fast internet connection (which doesn't really guarantee anything).

Hopefully, when I participate in this Dolpa 19 AE, I'll get that h.NAOTO SEVEN dress set for SD girls.

 

I'm still waiting to hear from Volks whether I won or not! Are they really going to make me wait until tomorrow? May 5th... I can't wait, and yet I don't want to hear that I lost. There hasn't been a day that I haven't thought about the lottery. This is pure torture and expensive too!

 

This waiting game does not get any easier regardless how many times I have entered.

I really hope that I get lucky this time and they started to send out notice earlier in the afternoon.

I have a long day at work tomorrow so that should help with the wait

for losers, if you're using a debit card, you will notice the amount you paid for the lottery will appear back in your account. they did not notify me anything. thats how i knew :/

 

It's only 7:30 AM there, and from what I understand, they don't notify until the afternoon at least ^^;

I think this chargeback applies to everyone? They only "take" the money to verify that you have that much money available. If you win, they'll make a separate charge.

example if they already taken 700 from you, they'll charge 700 more if you win?

this happened to me last dolpa for sdc renee. when i entered, i use a debit card and they charge 700 something. then after the dolpa it was returned to me, and they did not notify me anything.

 

The first "charge" is not a charge at all. It's a test to see if you have the funds in your account. That charge will expire for everyone, I think. It expired when I entered for both Papi a year ago and Cristal six months ago, but I won Papi and lost Cristal. You'll only get a second, real charge if you win the doll.

I do wish Volks would send emails out to people who don't win in the lottery. It would be a lot less confusing that way.

Anyways, I will be haunting my order page and this thread until I find out if I won Sweet Dreams Tae or not. But at least there's always the AE if I lose. I have better luck on the international site usually .

 

Oh, this waiting . . . it's good to know that charges on credit cards expire because I checked last night and again this morning and thought that it must mean that I had lost. So there's still hope! I'm glad we all have this place to wait together.

I really hope I at least get Maki, he's the one I want most. And according to the Volks site, if I do win him, he should be shipping out/arriving in time for my birthday.
