Quiet, you! No, no, the yo's are STUPID! AWFUL!!! um, um, um, if you try for one of them you'll get herpies and dropsy. (translation: SSHHHH!!! I REALLY REALLY REALLLY want both of the yos and if you are all distracted looking at the big dolls I have a better chance.)

 

This is a really stupid question but, if you live outside to CA do you have to pay the sales tax?
X3 I almost have enough for Kurumi and I even got a job (I think)!!
I have no interest in the Yo's this time ^.^; I'm so happy with my little Yuki.
Its so weird saying 'Williams' it makes me think my brother has a doll (his name is William)
I'm really looking forward to the wigs and the new clothes. I'm in love with the blonde wig that is in the picture.

In a way I'm kind of hoping that we get the go-ahead to pick her up that same weekend.

It would be great since that way I'd already be down there and I wouldn't have to make two trips.

@Kiss - Yes, so long as the store is located in California, all states need to pay the California sales tax.

I work for a locally based clothing store at the corporate offices.
I basically take people's catalog orders at the call center.

Everyone pays the sales tax.​

 

So is the price for Kurumi going to be $935 + sales tax + shipping X_X That pushes her over $1000 for sure. Hrmm..maybe I should just try on the international site.

 

That's why I'm going to pick her up.

If I can at least avoid the shipping cost, that would be great.

Well, you can still get the swarriko body second hand, and they're not that much more expensive than the normal SD10 body, or an SD13 body. :3

I have ordered stuff from Volks USA from WA state several times. {Eeek It has been a year since I got Toppi for my daughter!}

Anyway, no sales tax was charged for online ordering. I know there is some proceedure or paperwork that allows people from Oregon (where they have no sales tax), to avoid our sales tax when they visit up here. Wish I knew more specifics for you. I will try to figure out how to look that up - hmmm what to google....

Currently information is at a standstill like the Japanese site, but we get to see faces now Only Kurumi's price is up

Kurt looks so evil, and Amelia does not look like Olivia (I could be wrong)

 

Seeing half of Kurt's face on the internation site has cemented my need for him, I think. I want to name him Blaine, after a certain character in Stephen King's Dark Tower novels. I am doomed.

I'm glad I don't like Williams all that much... but Kurt looks VERY promising. As does Piccolo SD... he's too cute. T0T I may have to start saving...

 

Yeah - Amelia and Olivia are different. I can tell because the eyelids are noticably different. Great.... just great. >_<

not stupid question imo.
no you do not have to pay the tax if you are buying from out of state. its why some cali residents last dolpa tried buying from other sources like kirby lane to avoid the sales tax. its high in l.a. county!!!
by law, if you are buying out of state you should not be charged tax.
however, that does not mean, if you are not a resident and physically buying (or shipped) w/in that state you won't be charged the sales tax. i.e. if you come visit, you have to pay the tax. another example would be buying policies on sites or auction listings that include the clause that residents of such and state have to pay the tax. there may be some avoidance in different states for visiters but thats something one would have to check in to.
i don't know how to explain onihime's response, but the company shouldn't be charging buyers tax if they're out of state unless that company also has residence in those states as well.

this does not apply internationally by the way. it varies. i know in japan whether you buy w/in the country or outside of the country, you have to pay the 5&#37; sales tax no matter what.

 

Now after seeing Kurt's face, I don't think I'm gonna get him. I don't like the proportions of his face. Yay, more money saved!

 

Volks either does the 'You pay the tax for what state you live in' or they do the 'You pay tax if you live in the same state we do.' I won't get charged tax either way because I live in NH, so I couldn't tell you which they do. ^^;;; Either way is legal for online ordering.

I'm definitely getting Williams. My Lenore (Cyndy II) has told me that he's the perfect mate for her. How can I disappoint her?

 

Oh... Will is so gorgeous. I am falling in love with him so badly. I was thinking that I will like new SDC- Kurt but now I know that he has something wrong with his face's proportions. Maybe when they will give us full size pics I will change my mind but actually my favourities are Will and Kurumi.

I just notice that when I get their total, there is some sort of tax applied.

I was thinking, I love the jacket that the SD16 boy is wearing in the following pic. Think it would be possible with a bit of re-hemming and taking in the seams for it to fit a SD13 girl?

 

does that coat go all the way to the ground? if not then i think i might be getting it for a sd13 aswell , some of the coats on the volksusa site say for sd13/sd16 so i think it will work

 

I have a question about the lottery, when you win, do you HAVE to buy the doll? Like if you put in for more than one thinking you'd only win one of them or if a friend puts in for a doll to help you get it.

okok i posted that last post in a rush when i was omw to the doctor.

I Assume its a SD16 outfit because I "think" its that SD16 boy modeling it (see image below). The coat looks like it goes to the ground but I could allways hem the bottom of it.

I cant tell what the front looks like but I assume I could take it in under the arms (it has no sleeves that I would need to fuss with) But i wonder if it comes with the pants and what not... I wouldent have any use for those...

I think it might fit a SD13 boy if you alter it a bit. From what I can tell the main difference between SD13 and SD16 is height. clothing can allways be hemmed and if its too wide around you can take it in on the sides too. atleast with guys clothes their bodies are more square than womens clothes, you dont have to worry about the odd seams that go under the bust in alot of womens clothes and the fact that their waists are smaller than their hips (i'm talking about real life clothes too)

(please note I dont own any dolls yet so i'm just making assumptions about altering the clothes. It may be harder than I think but i'm 99% sure its possible....though i dont think any amount of alteration will make SD16 clothes fir a MSD ^^;

 

h.Naoto clothes are collaborations, and I'm sure their price are sky-high

 

Hmn, Kurt looks a little TOO evil imho. Maybe better pictures will make me change my mind but I dunno. I think I'll have to save up for Williams though. He's so manly... And he makes me think of F-16 a little :3, but manlier.

o and going back to the length of that coat, i really think its like 1.5-2 inches off the ground judging by where the arm hole is and what not (i do alot of sewing and look at random stuff like that...)

Yeah, depending on the outfit it might work. With a coat its ok it if looks realy big, if thats the look your going for.

Now that I look at it your right. It will look nice and long on a SD13 girl!

Sooo anyone have any idea on how much these clothes will cost? Are we thinking 100ish or 200ish? I'm fine paying 150 but much higher and I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Ohh, that little Kurt is wonderful! He looks so otherworldly!! All the previous SDCs looked so much alike, I've been holding out for one who didn't look related to my Arashi... *whimper* I'm hoping that when I see clearer pictures, I do NOT lose my heart to this impish little bugger. He's sure got that spark of "I just flushed your keys down the toilet again, Mom".

Also very curious if they've made any new innovations to the SDC Boy body. Let's see the next generation of poseability! More pix, Volks! *begs & does cute tricks on coffee-table*

...And I needn't even repeat that those Naoto boys' clothes are the bomb. Like, H-bomb magnitude! Oww. I'd sell somebody's soul if I could have EVERYthing that Tony & that Yukinojo are wearing.

Last two lotteries I took part in, no, you don't have to-- you just win the chance to buy him. If you don't want to buy him after you win the lottery, you just have to say "no thanks", & not pay. They'll happily give up your chance to the next person in line. (And a good thing too, otherwise I'd have After School Shiro triplets now. XD)

Also, about that hideous TAX they include: It's California State sales tax, which sucks monkey-nards. It's ridiculous. Sometimes it's cheaper to pay shipping from Japan, than it is to buy from L.A., if you live in-state! If you're physically present when you buy it, I think you still have to pay tax. To squiggle around it, you'd have to order & have it shipped to another state. California life has many perks, but sales tax is NOT one of them.
