Dolpa 16 Discussion Thread

There was a trick we used to do with Barbie clothes that stank. Put them in a small container with baking soda on the bottom, a paper napkin over that, then lay the clothes on the napkin and seal up for a week or two. Some people did the same thing with those scented dryer sheets as well.

 

I had the same problem with a black vinyl pair of poshdoll or some other brand msd pants. They stank SO BADLY it would fill my entire room and drift into the hall. I tried baking soda, Febreeze and washed them several times to no avail. Eventually I just hung them up from the rafters in the basement. It took a couple of months(!) but the smell eventually faded. They still stink if you sniff them, but it's not overpowering.

 

They ARE gorgeous, aren't they? I ordered the brown short boots and have decided to get the black taller boots as well. Hubba hubba! I've now gotten all four of the items I ordered from the Dolpa after event -- didn't want to risk the shopping cart problems and so ended up having two separate transactions and having them shipped. I've got Yukinojo's new outfit with the military-style jacket, the embroidered girl's outfit with the cream skirt with black embroidery, the boy Chibi outfit (cute cute cute) and those drop-dead gorgeous boots.

Oooh, baby!

You're telling me. x_X I tore apart my whole apartment trying to find the source. I blamed the cats, I bleached the drains to death, and only when I happened to be picking the doll up did the smell hit really close to home. ><

I love the brown short boots for the SD16 girl and the bondage pant set for SD13 boy and the knit hat. I love that little hat for some reason I can't name. XD

 

So if they are getting the Dolpa items and selling them on February 17th, does that mean they will have our dolls and be ready to ship by then?

 

hmmmm maybe for those who didnt get sato-gaeri services. But probably not. Although they did say "Mid february" right? and 17th would be around mid +shrugs+

Does anyone have either of the two wigs yet? Id love to see them on a non-SD16G before I decide to buy them or not ><;;

 

i have a couple of observations/complaints about some of the dolpa items that i feel people need to know:

White Lable MSD Caplet set: although the button down shirt (secured with hooks!) and the faux fur caplet are of impeccable quality, the skirt comes undone pretty easily because its put together by snaps. that just doesn't make any sense to me since just about every dolly skirt i own is secured with a zipper. there's hardly any allowance for the shirt to be tucked in (like it was designed to be worn) without the skirt's snaps flying open.

Black Lable MSD Sweater set for girls: does NOT include that cute flower belt the model in the picture wears. i bought the outfit under the impression that this accessory was included (since the boys set includes other metal accessories). i will say this though: the rest of the outfit is really well made.

 

i don't particularly agree, but thats my own feelings. mine are all factory strung (volks).

That's interesting. I don't think I've seen those before. Thanks for pointing it out, I misunderstood your question.

Also I didn't mean the way they're strung, I meant the tension. When I first got Isabella(my Anne) she posed really strangely and then got super floppy. And that was directly from them. Thankfully I live near the Torrence store and was able to get them to adjust her.

I didn't buy the disc pack. I don't know if they have the tiny size for Yos included..in that pack. But I got some extra smalls elsewhere for Yo. The discs help hold the pose. I had a wobble neck Yo and the disc fixed the wobble. The disc help give a grip to the limbs.

My Yo was strung well..but the head still seemed to wobble. The disc fixed that. The doll doctor also fixed the wobble in one of my MSd heads with a medium size disc.

 

I got a shipping notification from Volks for my SD16 H.Naoto boy outfit from the lottery! WHOO!

Uh...anyone who got the Anarchy set who doesn't want it, I'd love to buy it from you. :heart:

 

I got my shipping quote for the h.Anarchy outfit, but there's no way I'm planning on parting with that any time soon~

It's supposed to arrive on Valentine's Day, how sweet! Next week may be a very good week for my guys.

Mine has been shipped but I'm so confused!! The first e-mail I got said I won the SD13 boy outfit but the shipping notice said the SD16 boy outfit >.< I have no clue what is going on. I'm wondering if I should e-mail Volks or just wait till Monday (thats when it should arrive)

 

I just got a shipping notification for my SwD Anne and Piccolo from the US Lottery, but not Kurumi... I guess she's coming later? I didn't pick any services for her...

 

If you still have your order confirmation emails, it has a link to the status of your orders, which will have links for your shipping tracking. My tracking updated waaaaaay before I got my email from Volks. It's possible that either they just haven't sent your email yet, or your Kurumi is shipping tomorrow, etc.

But if you want to know for sure, you can check your order status. :3

 

I know what your talking about when you say you love that little hat. I just looked at and knew I needed it.

 

I personally went and picked up the doll and I'm in just floored by how awesome the outfit is!

Ohhh Don't feel bad, I won the VolksUSA Lottery for Amelia and the SD16 Girl outfit, and I still haven't heard anything about my order shipping or the order status on my Order reflecting a tracking number yet.... I guess I'll give a call over to Volks in a little while to see whats up though.

I got an email from We Love Dolls on Thursday stating that the dolls will be shipped to them on Monday and they expect them in the following Monday. You are supposed to call them and give them your credit card number again since they don't keep those on file.

 

Ah ok, I ordered through Kerby Lane but it seems like they would get the dolls at the same time. I guess I'll go ahead and give them an e-mail and see what's up.

 

Let us know what you find out. I put my deposit in via check and was hoping I could do the same for the rest of what I owe >< the the email I got was so un-clear!

I'm a little sad that I didnt get the SD13 outfit even though they said I won it but the SD16 boy outfit is beyond words! I think I might have to steal my mom's boy. The words on the boots are beyond funny XD they are just random english words but they boots are crazy amazing!

That made me freak I out! I went scrambling to the site to see if the chignon wig was instock but it isn't.

 

I just got my H baby rockers outfit today. I love this outfit, that I might never take my yukinojo out of it again. I can't wait to see pictures of all the dolls coming in.

I got my Dolpa 16 outfits over a week ago... maybe you should check with them.

About shipping:
I had asked them to combine shipping but they didn't. I have heard of them doing it but I sent an email that went unanswered and then the 2 packages showed up. It really adds to the cost! Plus they add a handling fee which is about as much as the shipping cost. Yikes!

 

My girl, her chingon wig, and black strappy sandals all arrived today. Not feeling the wig or sandals though. I'm definitely going to sell the sandals, not entirely sure about the wig yet. It might actually work for the 19th century Civil War day dress I want to do or the Victorian outfit. *ponders* I wish I'd been able to get those brown boots - they'd be perfect for both planned outfits!

 

PM'd you about that awesome wig! o.o Yeah, I wanted those brown boots too but I ended up with the black SD16 boots instead. I was also not thrilled with the black sandals. They match...nothing...

My lottery order is supposed to arrive Thursday. *dies of anticipation*

 

The black and gold sandals, correct? I wasn't impressed with even the promo pictures of them but knew I would beat myself on the head later on if I didn't get them too. I mean *something* will eventually match, right? *^^*

 

the other SD16G wig came back in stock a day or so ago, but I actually decided against placing another order since I wasn't really wowed by it. I was actually able to get a second default Amelia wig off Y!J that should come in handy when the first has seen better days.

 

Yeah, those are the ones I mean. I felt the same way. Hope Volks releases some new black outfits soon for SD16. It's so annoying, I hate that she can't seem to wear SD10/SD13 clothes. It's like I'll have to buy a whole new wardrobe for her.

I picked up my Yos over the weekend. I'd planned to use the Piccolo head on Anne's body because I wanted a girl and liked the Piccolo head faceup much much better than the Anne faceup in the photos. But when I got the dolls, I actually like the Anne faceup more in person... I think partially because it goes better with my other kids and it's very subtle/not as visible in photos. Hope to take some photos of Emily (Anne) soon. I really love her! Hopefully poor Piccolo can find a new home :/

 

I the default Amelia wig. It's the softest wig I've ever held! It's almost like human hair! I wonder if it's actually a mohair wig. *edit* Just re-read her description. It is mohair.

 

Well there was the FDQ exclusive outifit was was available a few weeks back, but maybe you already snagged one of them?

 

Volks always seems to put out quality wigs, especially for their limited editions @_@

 

When I was at the Volks Halloween party Mrs. Shigeta noticed that my girls were wearing mohair wigs and seemed really interested. I have a feeling that they were already thinking about giving one of their next girls a mohair wig. I can't wait to see someone's Amelia in person!

Any chance you could post pics of the wig on a doll other than an SD16? I'm thinking of getting one for my Kurumi

 

I think my F-08 and my F-16 have heads that are way too big for that wig. It might fit on my Kohya though... *snerk*

 

hmmm too big? I wonder how large a Kurumi head is...It looks rather bulbous..

 

Kurumi's head should be fairly small/average sized? Her default wig is sized for DD which is smaller than normal SD wigs. ^^; I figure her head is probably slightly bigger or the same size as my SD Mika's head.

 

Ah ok, I forgot she wears a DD sized wig....but her head just looks very big and round to me... maybe because allot of the owner pics I have seen have the wig up high on her head?

 

Perhaps it's just because her face seems so far down on her head? It does seem like she has a roundish head, but I actually really like it. Sakura has a similarly shaped head, as does Eva (my MSD Mika). In fact, her head is VERY alien like. XD

It doesn't bother me one bit, though. ^.^ I like that you can get a lower angle on Kurumi and she still looks great in the pictures.

 

No, I didn't like it so I didn't buy it. The gold on the sandals woudn't have matched anyway. Neither would have the H.Naoto Jelly and Honey set which I also didn't like.

And oh, about the Amelia wig, how do we care for it? Dare I use Volks wig oil on it? I wonder if it would ruin it.
