Dolpa 16 Discussion Thread

Nov 15, 2006

    1. Wow, cool Lizze!

And the Yo clothes left customs yesterday at 4:30 pm!

    2. Heh, well, my family lives in Buffalo, but I live in Rochester now. :) Awesome about the murals, Lizze; I haven't been to the zoo in forever, so I'll have to check when I'm there next.

And yay on tracking finally updated! It's such a pain sometimes, even though logically you know that the package is on its way to you, regardless.

    3. I emailed Volks about my tracking number that didn't work and they emailed back to say they made a typo and gave me the real one. It works now, but my package is still in Osaka.

    4. I got my package this morning!

    5. My Piccolo outfit should arrive tomorrow. The first info on it's progress showed up yesterday when it arrived at SFO then went in and out of Customs, and EARLY this morning left for Oakland.

    6. My stuff was delivered today!:fangirl: It's my day off and I have things delivered to my work addy, so guess who's going to be at work extra early tomorrow?

    7. Same here, and I called in today to find out my hours for Monday, and they didn't say anything.... Does your EMS report on the USPS site show it as delivered? Mine shows it's on it's way to/from Oakland, which mean it's on it's way to Danville next.

    8. Says it's delivered and that it was signed for by my co-worker Joan. :)

    9. My other two AE items from Volks have cleared Customs easily and will probably arrive tommorrow, but I still wanna know why they apprehended the h.Naoto outfit for 15 days!~ And I have to collet the outfit from the post office itself after it was supposed to be sent vis EMS!~

    10. Since I hadn't even gotten a shipping notice from Volks, I wrote them last night and heard from them this morning that the PO tried to deliver my package yesterday, so they should try again today. :)

    11. I had a super scare today... I got up early before class and checked my tracking number and it said "unsuccessful delivering, 2:52 AM Morganton, NC, item being shipped back to sender"

So I went WTFOX!? because that is 85 miles away from me! I called the post office there and the man working there was a major jerk and told me "Well, it was an unsuccessful delivery in Morganton because you live in Elkin." So I was like, NO FREAKIN DUH but WHY was it trying to be delivered there? Well, this jerk wouldn't take my tracking number when I asked if he could check it and said that it was probaby already heading back to Hickory.

So, okay, I had to go to the local post office to send out a t-shirt order anyways, so I asked them if there was an update on my tracking number. They go to check and five minutes later come back and say "Well, it looks like it is heading back to Japan..." O.O

So the postmaster gets on the phone with Morganton and gives them the scanner number for the person who stated that they tried to deliver it. Well, they have no idea who's scanner that is. They said that they have two packages from Japan, but neither match my tracking number. So, great... The postmaster calls Hickory and says she will call me with an update.

Well, turns out it wasn't in Hickory. By telling them the company name the package was coming from they were able to trace it. Turns out the scanner code was for Asheville, even FARTHER away from me! So the postmaster says they will get back to me with more information. When we talked just a few minutes ago, they said it was, for some unknown reason, in Asheville, but that they got it straightened out.

So, the Yo clothes are currently on a truck for either Charlotte or Hickory (They still don't know which!) and then it will be sent to my local post office where I can pick it up tomorrow morning...

Now here's to hoping no other bizarre occurance puts these poor clothes off the beaten path. x.x

    12. Piccolo's Yo clothes arrived at 10:15 AM today!!! Now just to wait for him to arrive next month!

    13. >_< Aaaaand my stuff still says its in Osaka. And that's using the Japanese EMS trace site, the usps site has no record of my items at all.

    14. Ohhh Kyrie Arashi The best of luck at getting your items soon and safely.... I'm sure all will be well by tomorrow though;)
      ~Anthony

    15. my Sd cute kurt also was shipped today and he has departed Osaka as of the last update! I am soooo excited because he will be my first doll!!

    16. A question to those with the SD16s and Kurt~. I was wondering if the KIPS is a clear, soft gel-like plastic between the joints? If so, then Williams has them in his arm joints (shoulder/elbow/wrist) and neck joint. I was undoing the bubble wrap from his hand and was wondering where this odd plastic had come from. xD; If that isn't it, they really do help in holding a pose!

I thought I'd ask before I went back to trying to pry the other eye from Volks' lovely hot glue job. My hands needed a break. DX

    17. I beleive those are the KIPS:D My SD16 Yukinojo has them, and they are a dream to work with. So did my SD16 Olivia......That is awesome, I didn't know Williams had them as well... Wow, Lucky you;)
      ~Anthony

    18. whaaat? Williams has KIPS? I did not know this. isn't Williams an SD13? does this means that Kurumi might possibly have KIPS in selected body parts too?

    19. Hmm...are you sure that the silicone discs are all that's involved with KIPS? I thought it had to do with jointing as well. Otherwise, any doll could have KIPS, as Volks sells replacement silicone pieces now.

    20. From what http://www.superdollfie.net says, Kurumi & Williams do not have KIPS

    21. My Kurumi has those too. They are really helpful in her posing ability:)

    22. Yeah, They aren't always right.... They also said Spring Stroll Liz came with a "Super Dollfie girl body" not the "Super Dollfie girl Swarrico body" which she actually came with;)
      ~Anthony

    23. You think they would be more correct with what they say -.-;; oh well, had I known she has KIPS I might not have gotten her sueded

    24. OMG YOU GOT WILLIAMS:D Pictures Please:shudder Pictures PLEASE PLEASE:love

AND KURUMI:love !!!!!!!!!!!!!! please Pictures PLEASE I BEG OF YOU PLEASE PICTURES:shudder

Although, coming to think of it, it is very Odd for Volks to have missed mentioning this on all of the Limiteds Descriptions:roll:... So I don't know, I'm totally Lost.... maybe it is like Junkets said, and KIPS are a combination of Joints and the Silicon Discs.
      ~Anthony

    25. Hey congrats!!! Your FIRST BJD!!!! Alex

    26. Don't worry, your items have probably already reached US customs by now. I dunno, when I ordered a Kun from Volks, she got all the way to my door without updating, and it STILL said she had only left Osaka until 5 hours after I picked her up, when it suddenly updated with every stop she had and declared her as delivered. @_@

It seems like EMS doesn't really update and/or scan during the weekends. :/

    27. I do think KIPS is more than just the disc things, which I think I noticed when I needlessly disconnected Kurt's hand and then lost the string down his forearm and had to take that off too....Yeah. XD But! I think it's also the joints, especially for the elbows and knees. They can bend so that, like, Kurt could touch his shoulder without the ball popping out of the joint, because it's essentially double-jointed. I think it's just for the elbows and knees, though.

      I think. XD

    28. depleti: Well, I was wondering because Kurt is the only SDC so far to have the KIPS in place. If his body (aside from those webbed hands XD) is actually a different mold from the other SDCs, then it would be a joint+disc system. The SDC I used to own could do those poses as well without popping out the ball joint, but he didn't have the discs. But I don't know! XD;

Junkets: As I said, I was asking, because this is the first time I've received a doll with the discs on the joints. I would think that with time the discs would wear out for those dolls coming with KIPS, so it would make sense that they make replacement ones. Did they just start selling them recently, or has it been an ongoing thing?

BriarRose: You answered my secret question. I wasn't sure who was getting a Kurumi here or if they received her yet. :D

Anthony: I'll take some fotos on Wednesday when I'm off from work!

    29. They just stated selling them after Dolpa16

    30. Yay I can't wait to see.... I think I may be falling for Williams as well:love Lord knows I have WAY!!!!! too many girls... Can't wait to see Pictures of Your Gorgeous young lord:D

    31. they better start selling these discs separately!! :")

    32. After a long journy around the state, my YoSD boy and girl coat sets arrived safely. XD Now just need to not go insane waiting for them dolls themselves. x.x

Edit: Are KIPS only for SD, or will the work on YoSD as well? Or does anybody know if Yos pose fine out of the box? And what does KIPS stand for? o.O

    33. Yay for bodiless clothing! For Yo posing, my Rengemaru posed absolutely perfectly out of the box, and has never needed restringing since I got him at the AE. I'm guessing that the silicone discs that Volks sells are sized for the larger dolls; you could always hot glue suede for much the same result.

And you know...I have no idea what KIPS stands for. *puzzles*

    34. Is everyone receiving their dolls which they ordered from the Volks USA or USA retailers? Or are all these dolls coming from the Japanese Dolpa?

    35. Just from the After Event ;) Unfortunately the rest of us have quite a while to wait!

    36. Yes, it's a sad state of affairs for us who ordered through VolksUSA... Or, at least it is for me. :...( Kurumi~... :(

    37. There was an ad for Yukinojo...but I can't find it. Kinetic integrated posing system? Volks was patent pending KIPS so I think it's more than discs.

BTW. I have extra Yo size discs if you need any.

    38. Keep It Posed System (no joke!).

      :)

    39. does anyone know how well the discs might work on a yo? cause i'd consider if it meant it was easier to bend the limbs.

    40. I always thought that kips was the actual joint system on yukinojou and on SD cutes. It DOES look different though I don't recall seeing any discs....

Yo-SDs pose great on their own as long as they're strung properly. Even in the worst pf cases, a little sueding will fix any posing issues you might have. *huggles her Yo*

    41. I got my SD16 Passion Dream Set today!

It's beautiful, but kind of a letdown. What was Volks thinking when they figured the sizing on this outfit?? It is sooooo incredibly tight that the hooks on the corset keep popping open in the back on my Amelia. The included bra in the lingerie box will not fit on underneath the ultra-tight corset either.

The skirt is a joke. The zipper only comes down a couple of inches so it's absolutely impossible to slip the skirt up over her hips. I even tried putting it over her head but it never got past her shoulders. I had to disjoint one of her hips and slide the skirt up over one hip at a time to get it on. And it just barely zips up! There is no space between her body and the top of the skirt. It grips her hips very tightly and wants to bunch up.

The high heels aren't so great either since they're sling backs and don't stay on her feet so easily. The outfit looks wonderful on her, though. As long as I don't look at the back of the corset. Bah...I think I'll complain to Volks.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    42. I hadn't wanted to say anything, but the knickers in my little boy's set will not pull all the way up with the stockings on underneath -- they bind at the calves -- and the waist is way too big. I can wrestle them up, but as soon as he sits down, he's got a bare bum.:sweat

    43. Yeah I had this problem with my Passion Dream set too:roll:.... I got mine from the Initial Thanksgiving day release. And I was so Super ampt to get it since I fell in love with it during the NYC Teaparty when I first saw it.

But my bigest disapointment was that I couldn't for the Life of me get it to look all sexy and short like they had her displaying it:(.....

It was a bit hard to get past her hips, but that wasn't impossible.... It's still a good set though, and I thought greatly priced for all the stuff you get with it;) Though I didn't like the Heals either from the Get go, so I didn't even try them on:sweat
      ~Anthony

    44. I wonder if your earlier dress had a better zipper length, then. There is NO WAY my skirt could be pulled up her hips without popping one out and really tugging. It's practically MSD-sized.

And yeah, it's hard to make the skirt display her legs or look sexy. It just kind of hangs there and won't cooperate. They must have pinned it for the pic.

    45. My yo girl outfit fits perfectly, but I would be super angry if it hadn't. These aren't cheap outfits, and since it was meant to fit a Volks doll, they should have known better. I would send an email if I were you.

    46. For fair warning, the Non-label Hip Hop set for SD13 boys requires decapitation if wanted to put the top on. There are no button backs, and the material can stretch slightly, as in an inch or so. To add insult to injury, they aren't edged either. I guess the material won't fray? :o

SO beware for dollie owners who can't decapitate their dolls!~ :sweat

    47. Yeah, I've dealth with cutting, hemming, and adding snaps on a couple shirts before. However, if I hear anything about the h.Naoto outfits, specifically the SD13 boys outfit, having issues I will not be happy. So far though I haven't heard of anything so here's just looking forward to the outfit's arrival.:aheartbea

    48. The h.Naoto outfit for SD16 is amazing!~ :D I haven't have anything to complain, just that it took forever in Customs, and they don't come with socks and underwear like his previous USD2XX outfits

    49. Now I am worried... Why would Volks make outfits that don't even fit their own dolls? We pay an arm and a leg for clothes and when they come they don't fit right? That is just sad. I would think there would be some sort of quality control or something...

Edit: Just realized that it is February first... :dance Short month lovin'!

    50. I have read this before in the past normally on more complicated higher end sets.

      :(

    51. Well it could actually be that some of the outfits fit and others do not. For example at a store like Old Navy they will allow up to around a half of an inch in difference in stitching.. so some shirts in a medium may be bigger then others.

Most companies want their garment close to be as close to all being the same as possible but since these outfits are sewn by people on a sewing machine they cannot all be EXACTLY the same and so some probably fit better the others. The outfits Volks has may fit perfectly but the outfit you got may be a little too tight since when sewn it was stitched slightly closer. It usually isn't noticable but on a skin tight outfit made for a doll it may show up.

I'm majoring in Textiles and Clothing so we learn about this stuff :P

    52. It took a bit of effort but I did get the dress over the hips and the corset did hook up on mine but I had to ahem manhandle both to do so - glad it just wasnt me with my clumsy fingers that had problems - Alex

    53. I have always had this problem with volks cloths. No big deal to me, sure they run small. I like the effort in putting them on. It’s like a workout lol. I won't stop buying cloths from them because of this. I just think there really fitting clothing and tuff to put on.;)

    54. I haven't received my SD16G Amelia yet (I won her in the VolksUSA lottery) to try them out on, but the SD16G boots I received (SB-SD16G-002 and SB-SD16G-003) are absolutely stunning @_@

    55. I know this probably have been asked, sorry, I am too lazy to scroll back and read the previous posts. Just found out that Volks charged for the doll and outfit I won from the lottery. Do you guys know when they will be shipped?

      Thanks.

    56. Yeah, I was charged for my Lottery winnings about 2 weeks ago:sweat.... Volks said all Volks USA Lottery Items should be shipped out at around the end of feburary;)
      ~Anthony

    57. For what it's worth, the La Parsonal MSD outfit for boys, the one with the scarf and mushroom appliqued knickers, fit my minis fine.

I just wish it didn't reek of rank sewer water. >< It's bad. Like, can-smell-it-from-another-room bad.

    58. Thanks for the reply Anthony. Wow, the end of the month my pricess will come! :D

    59. O_o... That's really really odd.
