Lost/Damaged DollZone Tan Resin Warning

Mar 1, 2011

    1. I really hate to do this but, back in 2008 there was a thread that was opened up to warn future customers of DollZone's tan resin. I thought that after a few years the problem would be taken care of, but none the less it has not.

I got my tan 1/4 Mo on January 20th, 2011 and after a staining issue I had small white patches started to show up after I only used just water,

worried I contacted DDE this is what they told me
First of ethyl acetate is very hard to find, but as I found out it's used in thinners for paint and nailpolish and you have to go to either a beauty supply store or model kit store to find some.

In the meantime little to my knowledge there was a growing problem on my Mo's bottom half, until I went to change his pants, his whole lower half has been covered in this discoloration and I haven't even touched it with water, cleaning sponge or anything, he's been in undies the hole time.

Well I was able to finally get some and tried the above remedy on him and to my horror this is the results.

I have now contacted both DDE and DZ with the above picture. This is a RAW image in natural daylight so what you see is what I saw when I pulled him out of the fridge.

I am up set that this is still going on with DollZone but hopefully this will give a heads up to future DZ tan owners or to let other owners know that they are not the only ones experiencing this problem.

If anyone had found a remedy, that does not include mascara cleaner, please post here and to anyone who is also experiencing this problem please do post here. I'm really hoping that this time DZ will get the picture and will work to solve this from happening permanently.

    2. ooh my you havent had him long either.im so sorry you are having these issues. i have a couple tan dollzones, i will have to keep an eye on them

    3. from what I understand there are two things that will make you safe from this, one is if you haven't seen it by now you probably won't (lucky you :)) and two if you got your doll before 2008, when they started using a new tan, then you should be fine :) Also it seems like a hit and miss kind of thing because there is someone in the DZ mini thread that told me that they got there tan doll during 2009 and nothing has happened to them thus far.

    4. looks like i may be safe then, but that doesnt help you or others with this problem. i would have thought dollzone knowing this to be a problem would have returned back to their old manufacture way - and advoiding this for their customers

i do hope there is a fix and your doll will be ok

    5. DZ sands their seams don't they? The discolouration looks like the overall sanding to get the colouring even, and then perhaps they spray a layer of colour over that to make it the original tan colour.

I know alcohol can make a white bloom on tan resin, so perhaps the ethyl acetate did the same? Maybe it'll 'dry' out in the future?

      Sorry I can't help too much :(

    6. I was wondering that as well. I don't have a tan doll, but DZ seems to religiously sand their dolls. My NSP boy is smooth all over. Perhaps they sanded his bottom a little to vigorously.

    7. Holy crap O_O

Yumeko has a few spots on her that are a tiny bit lighter due to the sanding of the seams but you have to hold her in the right light to see them. I haven't gotten her wet, but after seeing your pics I'm kinda afraid to now! Guess I'll just have to be careful! I'm sorry you're having problems with your Mo!

      EDIT: Okay, took off her jeans and examined her, and her butt seems to have some problems with lightening, but nowhere NEARLY as extreme as with your Mo. And granted, I was examining her under harsh kitchen florescent lighting. Though it could be just from DZ's thorough sanding since I could see faint scratch marks. Still, I'm scared now ;_;

    8. Sorry you guys that I haven't been back with results but this thread is going to change I have an update and it's not a good one either, I'll post back in the morning

update: found this tonight, which is quite scary if you ask me :(

    9. Moonlightangelbaby have you contacted DZ again and told them your problem seems to be an on-going one with other dolls, and that people are having genuine concerns about the doll changing colors or lightening more like it? This really looks like something they need to address on their end with whatever their using to color the resin. I've been thinking of buying a tan Yue in the future but am rather hesitant if this is what might happen after just a few weeks.

    10. That looks like sealant that someone didn't bother to clean off completely. I found similar on the secondhand Vesuvia I've been giving the spa treatment to.

    11. what are you doing to clear it up?
