does anyone know where I can find a white button down collared shirt that doesn't look like
its made for a child/young msd that will fit MO?

 

Alice´s Collections? Have one commissioned or make one? Tatabjd.com (soms of it is shown on DZ boys)? Etsy? I just have no idea if it would fit. I tend to like shirts to leave plenty of space for posing - and then have a form fitting vest or jacket.

Oooo...shiny new thread! Sadly, I'm not at home, so no spam to add.

It appears that DZ had put more dolls on the chopping block. Five minis made the list: Fei-2, Yuri-2, Yume-2, Ray, and Nina.

I have to admit that I've considered Ray in the past. I don't know if I want to spend money that I really shouldn't be spending at the moment. Even just getting the head at the discount might be more than I should do for now.
But...I do kind of like him.
Does anyone out there have one? I don't think I've ever seen owner pictures.

I saw a Ray in person once, but I have to admit, he fell off my list a while back in favor of other dolls. T^T

 

Seems like they're weeding out the dolls that aren't big sellers. Glad I have my little Yuri, even if he's still currently faceless.

Noooo, I want two Yuri's actually. Might have to see if I can scrounge up the dough to maybe put just the two heads on lay-a-way through MoC or DDE. Ohhh, I like the discount they're offering for the discountuined dolls though, might make this possible.

Nikki: They should, I know Nyco bought a lot of stuff from nine9styles so you could check with her about fitting on doll-zones. I haven't bought anything from them yet, I just window shop and drool.

 

Nine9Style has way too many pretty things (I'm actually planning on dropping some money on them in May) - no clue if they fit DZs though since I don't have DZ bodies in the house.

 

If these heads get put on lay-a-way which is a very real possibilities my dolls aren't getting anything new for awhile I don't even have a job right now, it's why I still only have 3 dolls. But I do agree nine9styles has many pretty things.

That's the good thing that comes from not studying but having a job: money for doll clothes XD
(I hate having not enough doll clothes for my dolls, that's why I mostly end up pushing new dolls aside in favor of getting more clothes /is weird)

 

I did it y'all. I put a Yuri-2 entire doll and Yume blank head both WS on a 6 month lay-a-way. They'll be home in September if I don't pay them off early. I can't wait for the discount to kick in though, it'll make this a lot easier.

I have the opposite problem. xD;; I always want more dolls before the dolls I already have get a decent wardrobe... I am trying to clothe them better now, though. I've forbidden myself from buying new resin until I get proper clothes and wigs for everyone I have.

 

haha, that's going to be my problems with the two I just ordered lol, proper stuff for them, however I have 6 months to find stuff for them.

 

yeah i think i might have tyo do something about it... i am in love with the rosemary face... now im rethinking my ray plans...perhaps i will do rosemary and ray...no one ever said they needed to be twins to be siblings...

 

I've had that problem at first but I realized that a doll for which I don't have "enough" clothes ends up on the MP sooner or later b/c it drives me nuts. So I changed it and now it's clothes forst and then the doll (if I have enough money left, that's it xD)

 

Muu, I've been doing better about having things for my dolls since I started the hobby. Now my dolls have too many shirts and not enough pants. I am on a summer clothes kick now though, so all I want to order are shorts and shorts forever! Except all the nice boys' shorts I've seen are from expensive places, like TTYA. >_>

 

I know that problem - I have like five pants but roughly 1200$ in frilly dresses (yes, I keep tabs on that, at least the dress/outfit sets, not the spare bits'n'pieces)
TTYA has lovely things though, I adore the jeans I have from them *w*

 

DollZone's getting me worried with all the sculpts they keep getting rid of. I don't want any of the current ones they're chopping, but a Luke is on our wish list and I'd be super sad if they decided to stop making him. Dollies are such stress inducers.

 

I'm not surprised with all the discountuines considering all the new sculpts they've come out with lately. You should defiantly get a Luke if you can Capistrono, &#8203;my Luke didn't work out but I still like the mold;

 

oh, uh, about the nine9style stuff, it fits, but the sleeves tend to be a bit short. But in the torso, it's fine. Well, for the old bodies. But it doesn't look like there should be a problem on the new bodies, just for pants because of those hips. But yeah. Sleeves are kinda short. I'd stick with short-sleeved things or, what I did: roll up long sleeves to the elbow to create the illusion that they fit perfectly.

 

equine I don't want to miss out on a Luke so I'll keep an eye on DZ and if they start discontinuing more sculpts then we'll probably make a move.

Also Errol got another pair of kitty ears. I rather like how these ones turned out, so hopefully they'll last longer than his other 5 pairs did.

 

cute capi. I was just looking at the housing situatuion around here, looks like Yuuma's going to have to share with his sister when the twins get here. No reason my yo needs an entire cubby to himself.

 

Homan, Plum stole a pair of TTYA jean shorts from my cousin's dolls, and now I'm sold. They are really well made, and fit so well. I am really hoping the pair I want to get fit Moment-Ji or at least my other boys.
Speaking of my boys and Plum, I have some crappy spam. I just got off work and it's cold outside, so I decided to not try and get a good picture, and just go for just a new picture. Here's my Plummy with Cricket and Crow. She wants them to know who's really the boss around here.

 

So, I got chloe but have had some issues removing her stupid old face-up. Have any of you had any luck with something specific to get rid of the DZ face-up's that won't do bad things to my new girl's little head. I've had her soaking in alcohol and made some headway and the magic eraser, but some of this is so stubborn. I want magically off in an instant, LOL. Anyone know any tricks, . this is better than the resin soul face-ups though. The eyebrows always stain the resin on those.

 

Thank you so much. I was honestly a little afraid to try anything more harsh than the alcohol without taking something that was recommended and has been tested airing on the side of caution. I have a stiff bristle brush I have been using. I hate company face-ups... I use three coats of MSC under mine so I am not worried about it doing this, LOL. I'm no wus, but I hate the thought of wrecking her too. She's just too.... pink right now. Chloe is not a pink girl. The pink has got to go!

 

90% Rubbing alcohol is what I use to get faceups off. Slightly warmed and with a tooth brush and a q-tip

 

She's been soaking in rubbing alcohol for two days now. The brush I have been using is gentle, but stiff. I didn't have these issues pulling the face-up I did off of my first doll, but I ordered him blank so I knew I would be able to get it off. This is so frustrating. The scrubbing will continue. I want to mod her face a bit anyway, but I really did not want to scrape it all up first...

 

Hmmm That's odd what kind of Rubbing Alcohol? 70% or 90%? the percentage really makes a difference...

I've never had an issue with any company face coming off clean with Alcohol.

 

Oh good! I'm not the only one that rubbing alcohol doesn't work for! I swear that DZ uses super glue to coat their dolls faces!

What I use is a non-acetone nail polish remover and paper towels. You'll still have to work at it a bit, but it shouldn't take more than a half hour. Make certain to wash it well afterwards.

 

What I have is 90 but it has been sitting for some time. I didn't think that would really change its strength though. It's going to have to wait until after dinner at this point either way. I'll get her clean, LOL. I can't wait to share her with you guys. I had wanted to take some pictures of her before I stripped her, but the pink was just, gha.... I guess I'm not a pink person either.

 

I use pure acetone. I've heard other people have used it, but most people just tell me "oh no! That's so bad for the resin!" I'm not sure how long those people work with the acetone, but it doesn't take me more than a few minutes. It really works like a charm, though! A dab on a cotton pad and it wipes almost completely clean on the first try. Of course afteward you should wash it thoroughly with water, and soap (without moisturizers or other additives) if it needs it.

 

It's funny you guys are talking about how hard it is to remove DZ faceups, because back when Errol had his default it chipped soo easily after having him for a few weeks. I am a bit rough with my dolls though, so that may have been my fault.

 

I second the Winsor & Newton brush cleaner- that stuff is magic in a bottle. Works wonders. I use it to get my super gross and sticky model car paint out of my brushes and my fingernails, and it's amazing.

 

I like Windsor Newton as well. I never had any luck with even 100% rubbing alcohol, and I was always nervous about acetone. I've soaked a doll once for days in W&N and it didn't hurt it, so that's what I go with from now on. I am switching to Purity Seal now though, and I am interested in seeing if it removes that as well now too.
Although, I have to say, W&N not only stripped the sealant off of Plum... but it also stripped the finish off my gramma's nice table. >_>;; Also the lines off my cutting mat! I highly recommend using it next to the sink. I didn't because I'm OCD about things in the bathroom, so I don't ever take my dolls' heads or leave parts there. O_O

Oooh new tread. I've been so busy lately that I didn't even notice.

 

YAY for windsor newton. It worked wonderfully and now chloe is not only stripped, but I modded her earlier too. I keep saying that but I don't think I explained what I was intending to do. I shaved between a 16th to a 32nd off of each cheek. It's just enough to age her but not so much to alter the innocence of the sculpt. Chloe is about 16, a young 16 but even so... looking 12 and being pink was not working. I did enough to alter the agles of the shadows and lessen the round of her cheek subtly. I love her now. She's perfect. She looks just right and once I wetsanded her, you can't even see where the alteration begins.

Nyco I have been meaning to tell you how much I love your lill guy. I get drawn into your avatar of his gloomy little face. He has just the right amount of F U to make me smile, LOL. Sorry, twisted goth girl here. I may have pom poms, but damnit they are black with spikes on the handles for bludgeoning. My sense of cute and sweet are just a touch... past left field.

 

@Anninke: Whoa~ I feel like it's been a really long time since we've seen Schirru! He is looking amazing as usual.

I finished Mori's faceup the other day, but it's been raining and I haven't had a chance to take any decent photos of it. Still bald, though... I've given up on the wig thing for a while.

He got a new shirt and some new boots in today, I'll post a picture up later. Seraphine's been very reluctant to let go of her teddy bear these last couple of days, I think she's sulking that Ces gets all the new stuff!

@equine: Hmm, not really, since he's a host and all. There's no plausible reason for someone like Mori to shave his head. I'm pretty sure he would lose a lot of requests if he did. Baldies aren't really too popular with most young ladies and the only bald kids you might really see in Japan would be monks.

Anyhow, here's Mori's faceup. I went a lot easier on the blushing this time; the color looks even more natural than before and blends well with his NYS.

We had some pretty crazy rain today and Errol, being a cat, does not like the rain. He hid under the covers during the entire thing, though he'll deny it if you asked him.

 

I didn't mean to make his expression sarcastic, but I suppose with the Hid mold it's kind of inevitable... I was hoping for more of a neutral/gentle smile.

Teehee~ that Errol~ It's been raining a lot over where I am, as well, and my roommate's cat doesn't handle it very well, either. xD

 

I see a generally Mori-like neutral expression, with the right angles being a soft smile. :> I don't see sarcasm ..at all ^^;;

 

I think it's the position of his eyes that makes me think he looks sarcastic...the way they're up so much. Maybe moving them a bit would make him look more gentle? Of course if you like his look right now then it really doesn't matter.

My real cat hides everytime it thunders or rains, it's cute but makes me sad at the same time. I don't mind when Errol gets scared, it's the only time he isn't being snarky at me.

 

xD Yeah... Hid eyes are actually sculpted slightly unevenly (the left eye is narrower and the right eye is slightly rounder), so it's been hard for me to get his eyes to look juuuust right every time, especially with the faceup. Right now I've actually moved his eyes so he's looking slightly to his left. :>
