MikaRen, I adore Mina's outfit! She looks like she's really getting in the Halloween spirit! .. And when talking about Halloween. Anyone who's decided to dress their DZ babies up for the occation?

 

oh, a brand new thread... that sure needs some spammage (although Schirrú is the only one on topic, hehe)

 

@Zerelixon: I might plop Mukuro into his cosplay outfit since I haven't dressed him up in that for the longest time, but other than that, I got nothing really planned for any of my dolls for Halloween. xP;

@anninke: Lovely group photo you haz tharr! Schirrú looks awesome!

 

New thread already? Wow they're on the ball of threads getting large, I remember when the discussion threads got into the 100 pages before the mods made a new thread. We weren't even to 60 pages yet.

Mika: Where'd you get her stockings? I want some!

anyway... i feel i'm such a good-for-nothing doll owner. on tuesday i had a little time before my finnish lesson, so i went to a park to take a few pics. the whole trip turned out totally disastrous - i got a cold and - what's FAAAR worse - Schirrú fell and hit his head and now his headcap is chipped well, i'm still really grateful it's only the headcap. guess we've got more luck than we deserve... and for all that only two pictures were of any use...

I've just swapped his eye putty. The blue stuff that he came with is so horrible - little bits are sticking everywhere in his eyewells . Now I have some yellowish stuff that is much less like chewing gum.

He has also become rather floppy, but I'm scared of restringing so I'm putting that off for a while... It's not as if I can't handle him anymore, so, not urgent yet.

 

Annike: *huggles* If it makes you feel better Yuuma has two chips in his head cap, one of which happened only about a month and a half after I got him, imagine how I felt? Stuff happens, Reino has a chip on his actual head, right below his headcap but still, it's from the first time I tried to get inside his head without unstringing him, his s-hook caught and took a bit of resin with it.

Sigune: restringing's just one of those things you watch someone do it once or twice either in person or on youtube, then you just have to grit your teeth and do it, once you do it you'll see it's really not that scary.

Sigune, I say the same as equine on the restringing matter. The first time I did it with Clovis, I was so scared I wouldn't be able to put him together or ruin him while I took him apart. But it was much easier to do then I thought it would be.

And when talking about Halloween, Clovis is definatly ready for that! Finished his Halloween costume today, so now we're all ready for a trip to the neighbour country for good times with friends and other dolls in the weekend

 

Sigune Restringing is pretty easy once you've overcome the fear of "oh my god I'll never be able to assemble him/her again" - and then it's pretty funny to do xD

 

anninke you already know I adore your boy... xD and all the spam of him... but you know that from FB

 

IT'S RAINING! Used to be this wouldn't be a big deal, but I've forgotten what it was like to NOT be able to take the dolls out b/c it's raining LOL. I was thinking of taking them out today, oh well, I'll just go sleep instead. Driving around in the rain and seeing the wet "severe drought: Conserve water" signs cracked me up a bit, of course we're still in a drought, will be for quite sometime.

I just noticed, maybe b/c they all commented in a row, but we've got quite a few people in here not from the USA, Canada, England, or Australia. I think that's awesome, I'm actually jealous of people that grew up in a country where English is not their first language, I would love to be bilingual, working on it with German, but defiantly not even close yet. Anyways, that's a bit OT, but I just noticed and I found it interesting. What I would like to know, is where do y'all get your dolls from? I might be moving to Europe, for at the very least a year, after I graduate, and I'm not familiar with European Dealers.

Snow? I'LL TRADE! Apparently it snowed in Amarillo today, but it was too warm here.

MikaRen: awesome, and haha no worries about that, that peacock is pretty sturdy.

 

Muuuu, I don't want any snow, even though Plum has her coat ready for it! I wanted to come home earlier to my Plum, but I couldn't because the police had my area blocked off for a manhunt.
Old Plum spam, and then off to bed. I miss that wig so much. O_O

 

breezy brite Thank you very much! It's blurry because my camera's broken so I have to use my phone to post pictures. It's not an SD shirt, it's actually a dress I made for him. I meant it to come out kinda flowy and pretty but instead it came out huge, heehee.

 

Pandy, That dress is just adoreable And I can understand why you miss the wig. It looks great

 

I'm Belgian. My country is officially trilingual - we have Dutch, French and German speakers and I have learnt those languages at school - together with English of course. If you want languages, come over here! Mind you, we have people here, like anywhere, who don't see the point of learning another language, which is something I can't understand, personally. Ah well.

I got my own dolls from Angelesque in the UK. You'd think I would have been better off buying from Think Pink! in the Netherlands, but for some reason shipping from the UK is cheaper by 12&#8364;! That, and Angelesque is smaller than Think Pink! - Carol answers any questions quickly and she's very helpful. I also buy from Winddolls in France (they have Alice's Collections eyes, clothes and shoes, among other things) and I have bought Leeke wigs through a German dealer called Sweet'n'Honey. You see, I'm using all my languages ! But the shop owners also speak/write English if you like, so nothing to worry about.

There are quite a few good online shops in Europe. Belgium, sadly, doesn't seem to have its own doll shops, so I get punished for living here with shipping fees and waiting times .



-I'm loving the Halloween costumes! Now I'm thinking if Gwalchmei shouldn't actually have one - his people to celebrate Samhain after all...

 

I need to re-take French... 6 years of learning it has pretty much fallen from my mind.. I can read it better than speak though! So I could still point at signs and be like " OK we're going this way " and I can still order food... O-o;; i'd manage... barely...

Sigune: Interesting, I spent a few days in Belgium and I only heard/saw Dutch, French, and English, so I was unaware y'all learned German there as well. And thank you, that information is very helpful, I'd most likely be in Germany, I'm looking into an internship over there, I loved the three weeks I spent there over the summer, and if I can handle a whole year over there I might just look into moving over there permanently, so I really was very curious and were I could buy dolls and other doll related things while I was over there, if this pans out Airi, Reino, and Yuuma will defiantly be coming with me.

Hypercurve: I've been to Berlin, not my cup of tea to live in, but it was an amazing place to visit. If you go to my DA I have pictures from Germany and Belgium in my gallery. I love Europe b/c it's so easy to get around in, and most of their countries are smaller then Texas, so it doesn't take long to travel from country to country, and unlike here were you need a passport to go to Canada or Mexico, or in your case from Canada to the United States, you can go to any country that's part of the EU without a passport. I didn't even know when we crossed into Belgium. Getting my dolls over their is going to be interesting though, I'll have at least 4 by then, maybe even 5.

 

I'm from Germany (in a small town near Munich, Bavaria :B) and I mostly get my dolls directly from the makers. The most well know German doll dealer is Manu&#8217;s Doll Shop (mostly for Chinese dolls) &#8211; we also have the shop Sweet&#8217;n&#8217;Honey but I would stay far away from her, she is known for little to no communication and a generally not stellar customer service.

As for other doll things: DoA MP, Taobao, Mandarake Japan, Yahoo!Japan, eBay and so on - you get used to fight with customs over each package pretty fast xD

As for speaking more languages, I theoretically speak French (had it for five years but I never understood the grammar) and English (since nine years and if I'm allowed to say so myself I'm fairly good at it xD)

 

So...it's freezing out and it seems like my time left for outdoor shoots is running out.

equine, the German-speaking Belgians live in the south-east; they are the smallest language community in Belgium. But German is one of our official languages .
As far as dollies are concerned, Think Pink! is a dealer for many, many companies, so you'll be hard-pressed to think of something they don't have. You'll be quite safe in Europe, doll-wise !

 

zeralexion: Right now Texas will take any mositure it can get, which is right now in the form of rain since it hasn't dropped below 32 F/0 C yet this season. I'm not sure if over in Norway y'all know about the terrible drought the southern United States is in right now, but it's not good, fires all over the place, trees dying left and right, anything that's not getting watered by humans is dead, makes it hard to do photoshoots cause all the vegetation is brown.

sigune: OMG BELGIAN CHOCOLATE! *drools* I should have bought more, I'm out. And ah, ok, that explains it I was only in Brussels and Brugge. And awesome, I so hope this pans out, I want to go back to Germany so badly! I can live without Rootbeer.... I think. And my dollies didn't get to go with me last time and I saw so many places that I wanted to take pictures of them.

Silver: T_T It is....this time last year I was walking around at night without a jacket...today, I'm having a hard time not freezing to death while being bundling up....*looks outside* It's currently sleeting...*sigh* I chose a bad time to start my photostories xD They are currently taking place in the spring so.....yea! haha

yeah its the camera ;-;.. It has no card in it atm.. i managed to get it to take 4 photos before dying on me again just not ( not battery ) but the dolly is OT for the thread... xD it's my LTF in the snow.

Yeah, it is my favorite as well. I have been really lazy about re-braiding the front. I tried to give it to Breezy to do it for me, but she's not having any of that. But it's still at her house with another wig, because even though I'm too lazy to do it myself, I'm not giving up on trying to get someone else to do it.

We had a hailstorm earlier. I guess it was cold enough to freeze the rain, and it was all slushy for a while afterwards. Plum has her coat on now, she's ready for the winter!

And on the topic of languages, I took two years of Chinese, and I wish I kept it up. I want to go to Beijing! T^T I can still manage a very basic conversation, as long as we're talking about how I'm a student and how I study art. >_>

Anyone think (or hope) DZ might do Christmas outfits again? I'm not sure how often they do winter things but i think they did Santa outfits one year. *forgetful*

Hope everyone is having a great Halloween, for those of you that celebrate it!

Luckily the sleet Pandy was talking about was the worst of the weather so far. I don't look forward to winter weather, although it can be pretty. I'm trying to hold off on wearing my jacket, but it's starting to make me look crazy because I'm always rushing inside to stay warm.

I'm feeling impatient for my doll head to get here so I can start spamming my girl. Hopefully she will get here before the snow.

 

@Ellanie: That's a lovely name for your Aimi! Although being the giant nerd that I am, the combination of the colors and the name made me think of Pokemon...
