Oh my god yes. That's the problem I had with the arms I got when I ordered Renata! First I got the wrong arms, I ordered girl arms...But I only noticed because I put the arms on and they kept flipping to the back! I switched them around too and they're fine. I thought it was because they were boy arms on the girl body but I guess if they're all like that....

I need to go check my boy body now.

Good news! The woman from whom I'm buying my DZ Hid is going to get a shipping estimate on my boy. Depending on that (and how much of my b-day money I want to put down on him), I'll either have him paid off on October 11th or October 25th

And Ian's a total cutie! I love his little boxers. Where did you get them? And what kind of horns does he have?

 

Still wondering if anyone has a side by side comparison of the old double-jointed body (003) and the new (009)?

Heh, I thought the same thing when I was messing with the girl body and boy arms (which was already frustrating anyway). Not crazy at all!! I looked at the body that came with my Ro which is newer than the more-than-a-year-old boy arms and it's also wrong (his left arm is labeled R)....
This is a good thing for everyone to know for when they tackle restringing these guys!

And even though everyone beat me to it, here is my Pado in the Carter fullset with Ro hanging out in the shot as this is a DZ thread and a DM one XD
It was quick and dirty shot, Boo's shirt is messed up and my recycling bin is in it >.<



I love this outfit, I bought some Dollzone clothes back in the day for my third doll who was a Shoyo and they were not great quality...DZ has really stepped up, the last two outfits I got from them have been amazing. The crown is missing because I don't use it...I don't really know where it is either XD It's either in Boo's DZ box (which is home to their shared wardrobe) or in the hat drawer.....or god knows where....

I really need to do a comparison shot of all my minis, Pado's arms and legs are too fat for the cuffs of the coat and pants to be snapped XD I don't remember the Dollzone arms being that skinny!

 

Hey guys, my boyfriend made a post in the waiting room about the whole Tan Skin situation that was going on. Long story short--DZ finally emailed him back with a response saying they've updated the tan after being told that it was not tan at all. VampireAngel13 - I love your Ro!! I am deciding if I should go with this mold for a character I have. The mold seems perfect, but I have no seen too many shots of the head. Would it be too much to ask to see a shot of him straight on with no wig and a side view as well?

 

Thanks BeePrince for that. The image does look like the "new" tan skin is richer in colour. Or should that be second new tan skin. It is a shame if they have changed the tan again for those of us who already have our "tan" dolls from earlier in the year. I'm hoping they release more MSD sculpts that I might want to order in the future as I'd definitely order another tan and compare the two; that and I wouldn't mind one of the newer bodies to compare with the old double joint I have.

Oh, that's good news, BeePrince! Hopefully they've fixed the issue. I really wanted a tan DZ boy, but after I heard that their tan just looked like their normal skin.... ehh, I was really worried.

I think I'll wait a little bit before deciding if I should actually get a tan boy from them. I want to know that I'm actually going to get what I'm putting my money towards.

I'm considering it, I think he said he emailed them to ask if there was anything we could do about replacing the doll we have (heck I'd be more than happy even with some kind of discount if possible). We'll have to wait until later to 'fix' him, though, since we're kind of unable to spend that kind of money right now, so unless DZ feels super sorry for us lol

Buuh. It's always sad when you get tons of new doll clothes and NOTHING fits. Wow. And earlier in a previous thread it was said that K2 pants from MoC fit. Well the plain black pair do not even come CLOSE to snapping shut. LIEESSSS. They're also so tight around his thighs it looks ridiculous. OH WELL. I suppose he's getting handmade clothes. I better work on my sewing skills >A>

OMG story of my life. I swear I ended up with all the dolls that don't fit in clothes. The shorts Boo is wearing had to be altered to fit him, so don't trust Dollmore clothes either...

BeePrince I'm happy they're dealing with the tan! I would really like another boy in the future and I want him to be tan. I don't mind light tan, but I don't have a lot of tan dolls, it would be nice to have the older, richer tan back.

when I first got him he had this outfit, and I was struggling to get it on him and I basically panicked thinking he was going to be naked until I could get him new clothes, but luckily it did fit him, the poor tights just couldn't handle his beauty, though. u w u

CuriousRaven, you should totally get a Hid! Hid is my second most favorite sculpt EVER, after Mo. Hid is a great sculpt and of love to see him as a girl.

BeePrince, yay!! Hopefull you guys can get Prince all sorted out. It makes me sad that it's causing you so much grief. At the very least, they could give you a discount on the tan price so you pay the base price for the new doll. I really hope it works out... (partially because I'm selfish and I want to see a REAL tan Hal!)

VampireAngel13, omg, if I had Boo, I'd just display him naked or in undies and stockings! The girl body really is gorgeous... when do you plan to mod his bewbs off? ;P

The Carter outfit is perfect for Cordiel, especially with the 009 body... grrr... why does this darn hobby cost so much money?
(I guess everyone has to have a money-sink hobby, though, be it amateur photography, cosplaying, music, art, or dolls...)

I have to admit I like the actual tan even if it's on the paler side... I didn't expect anything else...

And I just ordered some parts in tan, if they change it it will be a problem for me :/

I know right? It's such a pretty body, the only reason I didn't sell my Renata when I first got her (I was put off by the head) was because the body was so gorgeous! The boy body is just as nice, which is again why Ro stuck around...so glad I kept them both >.< Though I did sell the Renata head. And now the Moon and vine arms are in a box waiting for a new body which I haven't ordered yet. And a MNF breakaway is on the boy body....but still!

I did mostly mod the boobs off already. I had to quit half-way through because I only have finishing sandpaper and was tired of sanding and getting nowhere (and my dremel wasn't working either). I need to get more sandpaper, and then it'll be a matter of minutes til he's done. He's mostly flat-chested now. I need to get on that, I'll have more bewb-removals when my DC body gets home....

I do think I'll redo his faceup....I want to go lighter...

CouriousRaven- Your Jade is such a cutie! He look so sweet in that pose! how odd about the arms. I don't recall the older body being marked.
I'm considering that If I do get Carter, maybe he'll be on the old body. I like the new body, but I'd like him to be able to share a wardrobe with everyone else.

VampireAngel13- Your boy Boo is amazing! How long does it typically take to sand down a chest? I always had assumed that there was some special tool to carve off a chunk first and then it was sanded down.

 

It depends on how big it is! lol. There is a tool, you can use a dremel piece to saw parts off, but the dremel I have isn't mine XD I don't have that part and don't know where to get other ones. I don't like it much either because the attachments don't stay put so I have to keep turning it off and on...I also tend to slip with dremels and leave gouges....which is why I'll never do mods for other people lol

I figured since the DZ body has a small chest it wouldn't take long...but I also thought I had rougher sandpaper :P

 

*sigh* gorgeous dolls - this thread is so interesting! I want Carter's outfit, although I have no boys and no MSD sized dolls yet - it's so lovely!

ForeverVirginia's Urban has pushed Zo to the top of my wishlist now from nowhere! Did you mod his bottom lip much though? I'm not into modding - too scary as I know I will mess up, which is why I always get company faceups nowadays too - I'm fairly useless!

I love all these fantasy parts too - horns and bunny ears and stuff - it amazes me the artistic potential of bjd - mine are all just straight, regular dolls in straight, regular clothes *yawn* Oh speaking of clothes - Did you all see the new stuff at Alices Collections this week? TONS of new top, bottoms, coats and outfits for BOYS at last - I was so wishing they'd sell more for boys! I don't have any boys except an impldoll tiny at the moment, so now I am REALLY looking forward to getting my Jake - and when I can afford him, his dear friend/brother Zo - Although Zo's hips may cause problems with AC clothes, at least Jake will fit them as he's on the 003 body!

oh and that is so interesting about the tan skin too - I wonder when they will start delivering the new colour - it really will cause problems if you've ordered parts though

I gotta say, I'm not one for enjoying my dolls without their wigs, but I thought I got a couple good shots of him bald!

They wooooould!!! I thought that when you posted him in the old thread (I think you need to post more for the new thread!). Plus I'm dying to see a Carter IRL and I seriously doubt anyone in my area will get one.

 

Damn distance, your photography is beautiful as well and I bet we could make a really beautiful but spooky shoot to put them both in SIGH, I'll just dream about it haha! I'll definitely post more of him here, I just feel bad since it's all repeats of what I post on my Tumblr but here's a couple of him I didn't post in the last thread. elve - I didn't mod his lower lip a terrible lot. Just a few scraps up with the exacto knife and a rub of fine sandpaper. He looks totally fine with his regular lips really.

So... after an afternoon of several epic fails I finally made a shirt that Urban doesn't completely despise. It's nothing too exciting (and I got a little carried away with the sleeve length *wut?*) but with a few tweaks I think it's a keeper! BTW, the stringy scarf isn't attached, just sitting on top.

 

Haha, I love everyone's dolls! They have so much personality, and it's fun to see what everyone does with them. I have to say though, it would be amazing to see Boo and Morgen together, although it would also be a bucket of wants. Waaant. I saw a Carter once in person, and he really was an amazing sculpt.

But hey! I have some sort of spam offering. Someone was asking for the old double-joint body next to the new one? Now that my sister and I live in the same house, it is slightly easier to take pictures with her boys. However, there's no where in the house I can get good pictures, so I had to lay them down on a board on my bed. T_T You can see how the head sizes get smaller over time though.


Is it just me, or do Lock's legs look like they need the calves switched?

Thanks for the comparison!! This is what I thought... That the calves on the newest body were very thin by comparison. I wish they would combine those sweet newer abs with the narrower hips and beefier calves. That would be my ideal right there!!

 

I'm always tempted to unstring our boys to see what kind of body hybrids we could make out of them. However, it alarms my sister, who knows too well that, if I was allowed to do so, I would make Lock the perfect hybrid, and leave her boys with his parts. >_> This is how younger sisters do things sometimes. :3

 

LOL! That's me to a tee. Except in my case the victims belong to my DD. Just the other day I swapped her magnet feet from her Chicline boy with my MNF girl's and then back again before she got home from school. I got a teeny bit of scratches on her boy's heel but she didn't really care. I guess it helps that I gifted him to her back when I got the itch to rehome him! She can't complain, right?

If DDE or MoC had an in stock Normal-Y double-jointed boy I'd buy it in a heartbeat and totally rock that hybrid body. But alas, only white skin.

 

Wow, the difference between the DJ bod and the new one is incredible. What a different direction! I am 100% biased, I like the new one completely. I also kind of like the old old one better than the DJ. I was never a huge fan of that lower torso joint. It takes so much away from the lines of the body...

Thanks for that comparison Pandy. I didn't realise the DJ and the new body are very similar in height. I really adore the curves and lines of that new body.

The only thing I am finding a pain with the DJ body I have is that separate piece that goes inside the chest. It keeps coming out of where it sits and rattles around inside the body. Haven't got around to gluing it onto the other piece yet.

Love that top you've made for Urban ForeverVirginia - I was trying to figure out how to make a hoody but really a teeshirt with a cowl/scarf thingy would look just as good - and easier to sew!

On the good side, alices collections stuff will easily fit him, but on the downside I might end up with a rattling chest piece inside him.....and it's not such a pretty body - although he will be well dressed so I guess that's not so important (unlike the impldoll gladiator I have on order, who will be half naked eye-candy LOL)

Beeprince, Morgen is lovely and creepy at the same time - I love him! Still, I do hope you come to terms with Prince... He may be a pale tan, but he's quite perfect in my eyes. Possibly because I love all Hals with a passion :P.

elve, my Gwalchmei is on that body and he doesn't have a rattling chestpiece. So I guess that sometimes this thing happens, and sometimes it doesn't :p.

I have noticed the narrow wrists of the newest body without actually owning one. The buttons of the Carter outfit don't close around my slender little Doll Leaves Vivian's wrists, so... I was quite amazed when I noticed that.

Oh Dollzone. My first three dolls (minus one head) were Dollzones, and after that, I thought I was more or less done. But recently I have been wanting more DZs... There is a 16 cm baby on the way, and I want one of those cute BBs, and when Freddy gets here... Well, I'm thinking that instead of hybriding him with my Doll Leaves boy, maybe I should get him his own 009 body (because it looks so niiiiiiice) and make him Gwalchmei's younger brother (who is taller than Gwalchmei, so that would be perfect!).

It seems like I am unable to stay away from Dollzone too long...

Meanwhile, I'm thinking of redoing Gwalchmei's face-up. Don't know when I will actually get round to it, though... Here's an older picture with his current one.

 

Shylnn, YES. Clothes that don't fit suck. He's just too curvy for clothes apparently. Luckily, I can return most of it and get a full refund minus shipping. I'm hoping to get his face-up done once I get sealant. So hopefully you'll get to see his sleepy face all finished sometime soon >A<

oninochi; It's the thought that counts! Unfortunately I'm in eastern Pennsylvania so even considering 'making a day of it' to visit for a photoshoot wouldn't be likely haha.

Still it can be a dream, Boo and Morgen can be long distance photo pals, perhaps. I always thought it would be such a cute notion for dolls to be 'pen pals' and send 'gifts' and 'letters' to one another in character. (Example being Morgen might buy someone a few bones as a gift and send it to said doll's house lol with little letters too). And then to do photostories with just the single doll but make them fit with another person's photostories.

Since all of us DZ lovers are so awesome maybe we could make something happen someday!

Hello everyone~ ^ ^ I'm a newbie here~ just ordered my first Dollzone boy -who also happens to be my dream doll~ He's a Hal and I wanted to ask a question of you all that might own one (since I'm seeing so many beautiful Hals in this thread already!!) What size of eyes do you use for him? I'm looking into buying my boy a pair of eyes but would like to know how he looks in 14mm and 16mm eyes respectively if you can show me! c: Thank you all in advance~

 

I suggest 14mm for Hal unless you want the big doe-eyed look. I had 16mm in Prince but prefer 14 for him--just need to get a new pair.

I think I have 12 mm eyes in my Hal.

 

I have 12mm in Phineas and I'd never go bigger b/c it leaves not enough white showing for my taste.

 

Hal is such a cute sculpt! I'm loving seeing all of the different versions!
How has DZ come up with so many wonderful sculpts is beyond me.

I love the idea of bjd penpals o u o that's an adorable thought. You made me think of Morgen sending bones to someone who gets scared about dead things, and I just laughed very loudly at them panicking as they pull out bones from a package. xD

 

Lol Shlynn, Morgen is a bit awkward about that kind of stuff so he totally would send along bones thinking it was all good and everyone liked those things (right???) and his horrified penpal just staring at the open box from across the room like it's a rabid animal or something. He means well, he really does, he just likes unusual things.

I do think doll penpals would be fun though, even if gifts aren't added into the equation (cause I know I for one am incredibly strapped for cash most of the time haha) but I have all kinds of cute stationary and no reason to use it :c Maybe we could all set something up some time, for those who are interested anyway. Plus getting snail mail is so fun sometimes~

 

So... I decided to try the new event head "Freddy" out for my other "big" guy character. It will be a long time before he arrives of course and I might end up modding his eyes more open but I just couldn't resist those beautiful LIPS!! I'm such a sucker.

 

I have no idea what's going on in here anymore......Sorry for kind of falling off the face of the planet. I kind of took a hiatus from BJDs for a bit. My babies haven't even been out of their boxes in like two months. I miss them though so I'm going to try and get back into the hobby once i'm back in Texas next week.
