Dollzone Discussion - 60cm and 70cm - Part 2

Oct 31, 2010

• x 1
1. I just got through looking at the pics of Clare at the DZ website. I think she was definitely inspired by Clare from "Claymore", but really, they look nothing alike. The arms and legs on the 65cm body look really slender! And I wonder what they mean by "talent"? I'm thinking it must be her horns... which look like metal kitty ears with horns coming out of them.

Edward's white resin looks very warm-toned. Probably because he's wearing white.

I do like the look of the new 62cm girl body, I'd like to have a 60cm range girl with the double elbows and knees just like the 70cm guys.

2. I just wish they hadn't of photographed Edward in WS, it's just really hard to see details. I was comparing the measurements they had for Edward against the 70cm body and overall he's a little thicker.

3. Which 70cm body? b70-001 or b70-002? Both of mine are b70-001.

Linda S.
galatia9

4. B70-002. I can check it against the 001 body as well.

Edit: So I went ahead and put the body measurements side by side so everyone could get an idea. Although shorter then the other two bodies the new 68cm is for the most part a little thicker, which might help with other companies clothes fitting a little better. However it does seem to have longer legs, which could just be measuring differences between the bodies or the b68-001 torso is shorter.

5. Hmm, it's odd that the 68cm's legs are that much longer than the b70-001! And I thought my guys had REALLY long legs! And the 68cm's shoulders are quite a bit narrower. I'd like to see the 68cm body nude, as I want to get another DZ Yuu head (in white or normal yellow) and maybe put it on a slightly shorter body.

Thanks for gathering up the info, Cloudedmind! It's really helpful to see it side by side.

6. The nude pics of the bodies are up now. I am quite excited about Clare's body, it might be good for my incoming Oasisdoll Natalie head, although I agree with you galatia9 that her limbs are quite slim. I'd especially like her calves to be a bit beefier... and some high-heeled feet would not go astray.

How receptive is DollZone to requests for purchasing random extra pieces of dolls? And which is a better match for Elfdoll NS, Normal pink or Normal yellow?

7. I really like Clare's face, but I have to agree that her limbs are on the skinny side for my taste.

I do however like Edward's new body, and must say he looks more proportionate then the other DZ guys. I just wish they had kept the extra torso joint for both. I wonder why they went to a two part torso instead of sticking with three.

And your welcome galatia. I seriously had nothing to do that day. xD

8. Honeslty i like both body, even if the lower legs of female 65Cm body are too thin agree with you about feet.
For the torso joint, i'd rather prefer that also the female body have 3 torso joint insead of 2, and the torso joint of the new male body is simply hugly, i'm sorry to been rude but i really dislike it, i get why the went on this....
I don't know about proportions, but my DZ chen 71Cm body is quite proportioned.

9. Say what?I don't even notice the torso joint till you've mentioned it!!!
By the way i own a DZ 72cm and it's not unproportionate,it's just an impression, maybe due the shoulder line,i like so much that new body, but i have to admint that the absence of joint in the torso will makes me pass on it.
I don't like at all Claire body...

10. I am really impressed by this new body and it looks way better than the older bodies. I love the extra joints in the arms and the knees look improved as well. I love my 72cm Chen 1, but Edward is coming really close, love his hands and his feet seem more normal and not curled downward like my Chen 1 has. Great body all around!

11. I didn't think I would like them too much when I saw the teasers, but first thoughts:

I am surprised by how much I actually like Clare now that I've seen more pictures. =) But I'm going to agree with the crowd that her limbs are very skinny. Lovely torso, though. <3

And on Edward; his face doesn't grab me, but I really like that they seem to have amended the issue with their 70cm size dolls of being kind of emaciated.

12. Aesthetically, he seems to be a combination of the 70cm scale and the 65cm sculpt. I really like it! Just oh my, 70cm will always be on the tall side for a human doll for me.

13. I have a DZ chen with 71Cm double joited, and i like him it's just that you need to familiarize with that size,
yeah both body are awesome, i'm such sorry for the 2 torso joint of the male body..i'm not sure i can handle...

14. Yeah, I wish they had kept the extra torso joint, but overall I really do like the new 68cm body. And the more I see of Edward, the more he grows on me. And it does look like they changed their joints for these two new bodies. They seem more round as opposed to square when they bend. And at least with Clare you could mod in the extra torso. I'm not sure how or even if you could with Edward.

15. I feel like the torso on the new female body is really pretty, but her limbs, both arms and legs, are too thin.

I'm not impressed with the new male body though, I'd like him better as a three part torso.

my two cents ~_^

16. I agree, Cloudedmind, I prefer the new Edward body over the 65cm boy body. But I like the previous 62cm girl body more than the Clare body. The three part torsos give you better mobility, especially if they turn nicely at the joints, but the two part torsos may look a little more natural.

I prefer it when the double jointed knees and elbows hide the "peanuts" when the limbs are straightened, though. The floating kneecaps and elbows kinda bother me. And I prefer the torso joint on the girls to not be directly under the breasts, but in the midsection. The newer 62cm girl torso looks more natural than the older 60cm girl torso to me. I like the hips better too.

Linda S.
galatia9

17. I never tried a body with hidden joint-nuts- but the ones more visible, even if less beautiful, are better for posabilty, IMO the new 65Cm female isn't bad at all, but upgradeble, i found the lower legs a bit thiny....my point
About the new 68C body i prefer 3 torso joint i have no interest to buy a new body and then mod, as this sevice take a lot of time and just few modder are skilled enoght to do it....

18. I, personally, love the long and thin proportions of the new girl body. She puts me in mind of Impl's 60CM girl body, but she's thicker and shorter in her torso (plus) and she has really gorgeous hands. I love Clare's face, too. Compared to most dolls, her angry pout has manly quality. I like it. Good thing she isn't LE, or I'd be crying!

I actually prefer joints that have some sort of cap verses the "hidden" peanuts. It's the one detail with DZ that has constantly held me back from getting one of their dolls. Even though the pose amazingly well, I don't find it attractive at all to have that gap when a limb is bent.

19. uhmm maybe you're right, reminds me impldoll female, that's maybe why i'm not impressed that much about DZ 65Cm body....
i simply dislike Impldoll female sculpt body,
as for the double joint are useful if comes visible, hidden dosen't hold pose as well as the standard one, beware to put the estetics upfront the mobility, i will cry if DZ one day done some body without double joints....

20. As $avage i really dislike the impldoll style of joints under the breast,in this way the breast is more likely two swollen water balloon,so innatural...better for a classy joint in the middle of the chest/rib cage.Again i feel no simpathy for the new female body...even the hands have somthing weird to me...:sweat

Yes..but DZ besides the female bodies never used hidden/inner joints..it's usual that the male body have instead the visibile/oiuter joints,i don't see any problem with that, these newer ones are really smaller...imo DZ yet sacrificed the torso joint at least they opted for more posability in elbows and knees...just my two.

21. Actually, the b70-001 male body has the hidden/inner joints in the elbows and knees. He's double jointed.

22. I actually like that they moved the torso joint for the female 65cm body to just under the breast. I think her breast look more natural compared to the 62cm girls body. Granted I have no idea if the posing is better this way or not.

I also know that not everyone is going to want to either mod or pay someone else to mod an extra joint in, but this might give me something to do.

23. Me the converse,i don't like either the new Supia Dollz double jointed body just for the breast nor the Impldoll or angelheim, the breast shape isn't in my tastes, honestly.
About the male 68cm DZ body if someone buy a body for $390usd for sure don't really wish to spend other extras in modding,if you know what i mean.

galatia9 i know that the older 70cm DZ male body have yet the inner double joints, but believe me if i say that the newer from 2008 DZ male bodies,71cm and 72 cm,poses exceptionally with the outer joints,so the outer joints gives more posabilities.I can say for sure since i own a DZ 72cm double jointed body.

24. I'm sure that the newer 70 and 72cm bodies pose better. But I'm happy with the posability and the look of the b70-001. The taller bodies are too thin for my taste.

My first BJD was a Volks SD13, and because of him, I usually prefer heavier doll bodies. Just speaking for myself. :aheartbea

25. Speaking only in regards to the female bodies, which is what interests me from a collecting point of view — I have never owned any DollZone products before, their female offerings have not really appealed to me, but this new 65cm body is a step in the right direction. As I mentioned before the calves are thin, but I think it looks more severe because the thighs are so thick. I am a big fan of the Feeple body although it has some shortcomings, and Clare's body reminds me a lot of the Feeple, although it is clearly a design of it's own. I do prefer my dolls to be double jointed, but I also need for those double joints to be looking neat, which they often don't. I am looking forward to being able to buy this body, but am sadly dolly-broke at the moment.

26. I'm coming around. While my first reaction was 'that body has too odd proportions' I'm really starting to like how its different, almost more anime like.

27. Same as me,i mean we share same experience:
my very first bjd was an Hong DZ 72cm skinny body,he's heavy, poses like a dream,my second was a MD soom female, and i wasen't pleased at all nor in posability nor in the weight of the soom body itself.
I do undestrand what you say X3

28. I'm a fan of the old b70-001 body as well. The tall, newer bodies are just too undernourished  for my taste.

29. I know that if I did not have my Chen 1 I would be all over getting Edward. Of course I do want to re-shell a character I have here now, and this could be the guy. Need to think about it some more and see owner pics.

30. Yeah I'm hoping someone buys him so we can see more pictures. I'm also hoping DZ will put up pictures of the blank heads. And just to let everyone know the DZ fairies are now considered on topic as anthro dolls.

Edit: They have put up the blank head pictures of Edward and Clare, and Edward is reeeeeeeeeeeeally starting to grow on me again.:fangirl:

31. Hello~ I fell in Love with Joe and I was wondering if his head could fit on other bodies because the size of it is 9.7cm and I was looking at another body but I don't know if his head would fit on any other dolls.

It'll be great if you could help me out. I've been meanning to ask this question for a while now but I just didn't know where :?

32. It'll depend on the neck size of the doll body. So you could always check the neck size for the body you're thinking about, and many companies will tell you on the page with the body.

33. Me too!!! I love the old body <3 X3 I'm joining this thread a little late but yeah, I was kinda disappointed when I found out the new 68cm. body didn't have the three part torso :P Ah wellz...

34. I'm really loving the Edward sculpt. He's the closest thing to perfect for a character of mine. However, I'm not sold on the 68cm body. Not only is it pushing my size limit (I have a 63cm Ringdoll and I don't want anything larger than a 65cm) but it doesn't have the chest joint that I love in my Ringdoll.

Do any of you have any experience with the DZ 70cm heads on the 65cm body? I'd like stick to a dollzone body but if that's not possible I'll have to start looking at resin matches for the normal pink or white skin. Ugh.

35. Can't say that I do cyranstar. But yeah after seeing Edward's blank head I have to say I'm really in love with it. So many things I want to do now. Hopefully I'll be able to pull it all off.

36. XD..i've choosen the newer body of 72cm skinny body just fro this..Genzo is just like that!!!

37. I hope you guys don't mind me joining in with some questions. I'm looking to buy my first doll and after a year of consideration, have decided on a Dollzone 72cm. The 72cm body really fits well with the character I'm making but after they came out with Edward, I'm no longer so sure. I was originally going with a Ying head sculpt, but I'm liking Edward more and more for my character.

Does anyone have any ideas whether the Edward head with fit on the 72cm body? Looking at the measurements, it would seem that it should, but would it look strange/disproportional? Thanks.

38. I'm currently reading through the first dollzone thread, but I was wondering if anyone owns a Hong? I'm really liking his sculpt but I'm having some difficulty finding pictures of him other than the ones on the site. Also, are dollzone boys easy to find clothes for (compared to say, Iplehouse)?

39. I have a normal yellow resin Hong on the b70-001 body, his name is Maxim:

He has a default faceup, but I removed his eyelashes because it was difficult to see his eyes. He's not difficult to find clothes for. Mine wears 4D SD17 or 70cm items, and he also has some clothing made for Hound that fits him very well. He can also share some shirts and shoes with SD13 boys.

Also, check out the Hong database thread here...

40. It might be difficult to tell unless someone has the Edward head and the 72cm body and puts them together. But since we've seen the older heads (like Hong and Yuu) used on three different types of 70-72cm bodies, I would guess that the Edward head could be used on them too.

I am wondering about the shoulder width on the 68cm body, though. 11cm seems really narrow, and I'm thinking it must be a typographical error. His shoulders don't look that narrow in the pictures.

Linda S.
galatia9

41. Thank you for the reply. I guess I'd rather not risk it and go for the Ying, maybe wait to see if anyone already with a 72cm doll will get an Edward.

11cm would be the same as the 58cm girl right? That does seem a little too narrow when looking at how large the head is compared to the shoulders on the girl. (Though there isn't really an indication of how wide a head is except for eye size.) The two newer girl bodies have even narrower shoulders (8.3cm and 9cm). It does seem like an error compared to the 65cm and 70/72cm male bodies' shoulders but maybe the head's just smaller?

42. The shoulder measurements usually given by DollZone does not include the arms/shoulder balls. Most likely Edward's shoulders are more like 13 or 14cm including the arms. 11 cm is just across the torso itself. I would expect Clare's measurement to be at least 12-13cm as well.

43. When I look at pictures of the other bodies they seem to have wide shoulders, but I think that may be because they have narrower waists. But as galatia mentioned the only way to know for sure is to actually have an Edward head and one of the other bodies. But it may work. I believe I came across a thread by tehbunnehfoofoo who had asked a similar question about the 65cm heads on 70cm bodies. I'm not sure if they ended up going that way or not though, but you could ask.

44. It seems possible that they measured only the torso width at the shoulders for Edward's body. The b70-001 body has shoulders that are 16cm across including the arms, and is listed as 16cm on the website. And the b60-002 girl's shoulders measure 12cm across including the arms, and is listed as 12cm. Those are the only two bodies I own that I could check.

Linda S.
galatia9

45. After looking 60cm head on 70cm bodies, I'm starting to wonder again if I should go ahead and try the Edward head on the 72cm body. Edward's neck size is 10.5cm when the body's is 9.5cm, so it should physically fit on? The Edward head is around the same size as the 65cm heads but I can't seem to find many head comparisons of the two.

Sorry I'm a completely newbie at this, has anyone else tried Cosmo or Brant head on the (new) 70cm or 72cm body? From their pictures, it looks like tehbunnehfoofoo went with the 65cm body.

46. More then likely you'd be okay with putting Ed's head on a 70cm body. 2cm isn't that big of difference when it comes to proportion, especially considering Ed's body is wider/thicker over all. If it was a little smaller on the 70cm body I don't think it would be so noticeable to look off.

47. Thank you very much, and thanks to others who replied to me. I'm sure hoping this is the case.

48. So on the heels of Edward and Clare DZ now has two more sculpts for their new bodies. Aurora and Alpha. I have to say I like Aurora. That girls got some ears on her, but she has this stuck up pouty face look that's kind of endearing. XD

49. I really love Aurora makeup, her lash makeup is very unique looking and I love that outfit she is wearing! Edward is still my fave.

50. Yeah I really like her hat and skirt, she almost kind of looks like she was made for Edward, or at least to go with Edward.

51. Oh wow.. @.@ I really love Aurora's look! DZ have really taken a different route with their sculpts lately. I admit, Edward was kind of a disappointment for me. I really hate the eyelashes that they chose for him. xD I think that Aurora would look great as a male though.. hm..

52. Whoah - the two new sculpts Aurora and Alpha came right out of the blue - was not expecting that. Now I'm wondering if they are more coming. Dollzone have really stepped up the releases of new dolls. I was really thinking of ordering Clare but I like Alpha a lot. I love dolls with big noses and pouty lips. Hmmmm... What to do?? Maybe wait to see if there are more coming!!?

53. Aurora is lovely, so far one of the most interesting female sculpt from DZ!Also the outfit is amazing, the hat is quite impressive!

54. He was for me at first to. But now that I've seen his blank head, I like him a lot more.

55. yay progress for me! I sanded my boy's neck down today and prepared the head for a faceup, and started roughing in the blushing and the eyebrows, whoot!

I had envisioned him being softly smiling, but as of 10pm tonight he's looking rather....suave? Like, a womanizing grin kinda. maybe in the morning I'll get back his innocent soft smile.

56. Agreed! I am really impressed by this new sculpt. I am also in love with her makeup and styling!

57. I love Aurora! Do they have face pics yet? I can't tell if she has pointy ears or not.

58. No not yet, but in one of her pics you can see her ear on the right and it looks a little pointy. But that could just be because of the angle.
