Dollzone Baby BB 23cm - 29.5cm discussion part 3

May 22, 2014

    1. IzabethS, Blossom looks wonderful! :love

Love her fantasy face-up :aheartbea So pretty!

    2. @nattherat - thank you! Originally I wanted her to be more spring and flower themed, but this works great too!

@Rabbit-moon - thank you! I’m glad I gave her very subtle blue and purple freckles under he pink fantasy elements!

    3. Oh Iza, she's so cute! I love how she's turned out! :D Her colour scheme is super pretty.

    4. Hey y'all! I've been mulling over a 1/6 Dollzone for some time now, and was wondering if anyone has purchased the Black Cat / Pink Bear dolls at all? The character I'm trying to shell has a very weird face, so I'm thinking the more cartoonish look will work in my favor here.

Basically, if you have either one, I'dlove to see how you've styled them! :)

    5. Hello fellow Dollzone owners.
I have been waiting for the actual arrival to post here, but I am now the owner of one YO-sized Carter.
I am super exited. I have two Carter minis and have wanted the YO sized one since his release. I generally miss out on the second-hand ones... either I don't have the cash or (more usually) they aren't WS and I only wanted WS. But I found this sales thread and pounced and he's here!! :D

    6. @VampireAngel13 Ohhhh, congrats! I bet they all look awesome together.

    7. Congrats VampireAngel13! Yo-sized Carters are such cuties! :D

Looking forward to seeing pixs of your little guy!

    8. Oooh how exciting! I do love Carter. Such a cute sculpt. :)

    9. :D thanks all! He really is so cute!

I'm exited to.....so something with him XD I'll figure it out. He'll need to be wiped, and maybe restrung if I have small enough string for him. And then I will have to decide how to do him up. I don't really have a concrete plan beyond "Oooh, Tiny Carter!!" XD

Here is his official arrival pic

and a spoiler of all my Carters (one of is technically off topic due to his body being off topic, but he's fine with the other two)

    10. Ahhhhhh they all look adorable together! :D

    11. Thank you!! :aheartbea

    12. Awe, he looks so cute with his elder Carters!

    13. @VampireAngel13 So many Carters in one pic:D I love the clown/pierrot aesthetic you've given them, your faceup skills are amazing. I'm looking forward to see what you'll do with the little one^^. Also now I want to know what that awesome, OT skeleton body is, DZ Hermit body?

My Carter twins seem to be strangely... orally focused>.>. Every time I pose them with that bunny plushie it ends up looking like one or both of them is chewing on the poor thing, which is actually pretty in-character for them I guess... Anyway, I reposed them so that Jinx has the plush to himself (partially needed to repose them because they're sitting on my nightstand on my Volks girl's lap and sometimes they slip away a bit) and between their arms always snapping up and Jinx inevitably slipping down between the two SD's a little because Komori's lap isn't wide enough, they ended up like this. I swear only thing I did was place that ear properly in Omen's hand. I guess if Omen can't take his urges out on the plush because brother refuses to share he'll take to another rabbit ear...

    14. Yay! VampireAngel13, Your new little Carter is adorable! :fangirl:

It will be interesting to see how you design him to fit in with your other Carters. :thumbup

      (BTW, awesome collection of Carters!)

    15. All these Carters make me so happy!! I’m waiting on an open-eyed Carter girl right now I’m so excited.

The real reason I’m in this thread though is I’m torn if I want to get a Pink Bear fullset (have ideas for) or grab a Yo Carter while it’s still available... *_*

    16. @Kurr I vote Carter...for obvious reasons. But really if you have ideas for Pink Bear maybe go for that instead? I am helpful. XD

      He do, thanks! :D

Your Carters are so cute!! :D
And thank you!! And also yes, it is the Hermit body. I did nothing with mine for so long, I'm glad I tried this hybrid (he's a little bobbled, but he's also a skeleton so y'know. Still works.)

      Thank you! :D

    17. Well everyone I solved my problem with deciding between Yo Carter and Pink Bear!!
      .......and just bought both.<3

      Tightening my purse strings now!!!

    18. This thread is quiet so here is my Sybil (Candice) and Merlin (Mann)!

A little blown out/hypersaturated due to the sun, but... whatever! I'm always enamoured with them. :D

I hope DollZone release more 1/6 soon. They've discontinued so many that there are very few left, and I'm itching to see more! I'd love a boy version of the B27-010 body too, the one Milky Tea and Honey came on. It wouldn't exactly be much different I know, but I'd be interested to see it anyway. After all, there's a surprising amount of difference between the 004 and 005 bodies, instead of the usual hip piece swap that most companies do.

    19. Hello, I've commented here before but must have gotten lost in the responses. I'm trying to find clothing for the B27-004 body in both masculine and feminine styles before they arrive home but having a difficult time doing so. Any ideas on what I can do or what may fit this doll that fits other dolls? I didn't see my Pumpkin's sculpt listed but the body measurements were in the BB section so I assume this is the correct thread for this question.

    20. @FeiyaAshcraft They have kind of unusual bodies that are bottom heavy. Barbie clothes and clothes similarly sized will fit the top of the dolls generally, but the bottom of the doll is too wide and short for the same brand. Ken clothes will fit the bottom of the doll often, but legs will be too long and if they are not elasticated then they might not make it around the large rear these dolls have. The newly released Rainbow High doll line may fit in the top.

Normal YoSD clothing will be very loose. I have my girls in normal YoSD clothing because they are intended to be children and looking a bit swamped is more thematically appropriate. If you buy any generic items labelled YoSD, you will likely have to alter it to tailor it!

There isn’t an easy answer though, due to the unique body sculpt, sorry! More options are starting to appear but they are still limited. Your best bet for tailored quality stuff is some official Barbie stuff and bespoke doll clothes tailors who work with Barbie size. Even then, this is more applicable to stretchy fabrics. If they have no stretch, it might be too difficult to get the doll into it.

    21. This doll is intended to be a gender fluid child spirit so baggy isn't a problem. I have a mix of form fitted and baggy in mind but this is still more than I had to start with. Thank you so much! I'll keep this in mind when I try to find something that may work for their style :D

    22. I went shopping for my boy b27-005 (Pretty sure their measurements are very similar). What I figured out from comparing measurements on Alice's Collections is that their bums are MSD and their tops are YOSD.

I bought him a pair of MSD shorts and a YOSD shirt. Dresses should also work fine on her as long as the waist isn't too low. A-line or puffy dresses should work.

b27-005 has a 15cm hip width, while the 004 body appears to have a 16cm hip width. MSD bottoms tend to start at 17cm, but honestly, that is SO much easier to take in and fit to size than letting out a pair of YOSD pants. Course, I'm not 100% on whether it'll work, but hopefully the shorts fit him okay.

    23. Yeah, even finding items that are close enough is better than nothing. I was thinking it'd be nice have atleast something for when they eventually arrive. I'm 9 months in currently with no real eta from Bjdivas

    24. That's actually why I went through Alice's. I was reading all the feedback and wait times from BJDivas and I'm like... uhhhh maybe not. It sucks because I had to wait for the money to clear on my end to make sure I had enough for bills and I was two days late for the sale. Paid regular price for my Black Cat (with boy body, no wings). 204 instead of 173. aaaargh. But the free shipping made up for it.

    25. Yeah I wasnt sure what my wait would be to start with. My friend had no problems with Bjdivas but that was before the pandemic.

    26. I've taken to using a certain Youtuber's work-around calling it the Backstreet Boys Reunion Tour but yeah.
Sucks that THIS is the year I finally had the money to replace my doll. But he'll be worth it.

    27. aw that sucks, hopefully the waits will clear up soon and we can all get our stuff in a more reasonable time lol I know some companies have some crazy wait times without pandemic issues.

    28. Congrats on your new boy, @ashbelEro ! I saw your mockup art and I know he's going to look fantastic! Have fun getting him sorted, but he's super cute just the way he is now!

    29. Thank you! Now that I've gotten most of the materials I need to do his body, I'm having a hard time getting his clothes... oh well

    30. Hello, anyone with a Honey or Mint Tea to show ? I really love their body and style, but it's hard to figure their size in real... Dollzone 29cm bodys are about to bring me back in the hobby

    31. Hiii, I am new to this thread! I'm normally exclusively for Fairyland dolls, but the Peach YOSD fullset spoke to me so much and...

Ooops! She is so much bigger than my Littlefees, which I wasn't expecting... but I love her so, so much. Now I want a Jojo as well oh noooo.

    32. Congrats on your DZ Peach! She's super cute

      • x 1
    33. I love your little Peach @lilibet ! Her wig and outfit really suit her well, adorable! Jojo is another good one. Dolls have a tendency to fine a great home and start inviting friends to move-in.

      • x 1
    34. Aww, she's so cute! Out of curiosity, how much bigger than a Littlefee is she? I always thought of these dolls as being quite small. (But then again, I've never owned a Fairyland doll, and all their sizes confuse me).

      • x 1
    35. I can answer this! The difference is quite a bit, like almost 5cm!

      • x 4
    36. Oh wow, I didn't realise the difference was so big!

      • x 1
    37. Thank you everyone!

And - yes she is so much bigger than LTF, I had no idea. & thank you for the comparison, Iza.

I extra want a JoJo now for size buddies... oops.

      • x 1
    38. Yeah, LTFs are really small, but they are cute and full of personality. I think I have more Dollzone tinies than Fairyland though...
You're welcome! I just grabbed a bunch of different YoSDs off my dresser. I have a few more body types I didn't include, but that's okay. I just wanted a few to show their differences!
And definitely get a Jojo, so we can live vicariously through you!

      • x 1
    39. Thanks for the comparison photo, IzabethS. Wow! I had no idea that the DZ tiny was so much bigger than the standard YOSD size. I'm not a big fan of the wide hips on tinies trend. Doesn't that make finding pants that fit difficult?

Mollym: OMG! Isn't that the truth! :doh

Lilibet, your DZ Peach is adorable! :D

    40. I am now a proud owner of my first YoSD. :whee:
My Pink Bear came in and I am so in love with her. <3
Here is a quick snap I took after dressing her completely:
      [IMG]20210520_152416 by keliyara, auf Flickr

I'm always amazed how smooth Dollzone's resin is. All my other dolls are a bit "rougher" to the touch.
Her wings seem to be a bit too heavy for the little magnets, they wont stay up. Anyone who owns her (or a similar doll) have any tips on how to change that?

      • x 9
    41. Congrats on her arrival, she is super cute! What I did to get the wings to stop drooping is add a very thin layer of hot glue along the magnets in the wings. That’ll give them something to grip and prevent the sinking/drooping.

Here's my Miss Kitty, Charlotte! :aheartbea

She's my favorite doll and I love her to bits (she is also my only yosd size).
My husband and friend gifted her to me many years ago, however I was too skittish to do much with her for a long while. They got me the full default set, but I did change her eyes and wig. Aside from her default outfit, she has another DZ dress, and this outfit here in the picture (and of course those are the default shoes).

My husband's recently ordered her a nice casual outfit from Etsy, and I am making plans to create some fabric ears and a fabric tail for her so that she won't be so floppy and top-heavy. Not sure if I want to get her a friend or not, maybe a little baby? We'll see, I just sold two dolls a while ago because I feel like I had too many to manage. I'm also considering giving her an entire shelf to herself, to decorate like a bedroom.

    45. Onigirlkiri, she's adorable! :D

Fabric ears sound really interesting. Curious to see how that works out.

Rabbit-moon, thank you! She is my baby. Here's a better picture that I just took. Sorry to post two in a row. Really excited to be getting back into the hobby.

I've seen a few tutorials for those 'nekomimi' sets for the anime style dolls using minky faux fur. I'll be basing her set off of those existing tutorials. I'm not sure if I want to attach her ears to a headband, sew them into the wig, or do magnets... I'm leaning towards the headband. I'm all about keeping things easy to manage, and I feel like that would be the easiest to fix when fiddling with her. She's so tiny!

    47. @Onigirikiri - Aww, she's adorable! I like the idea of making her a little bedroom-shelf! :D

    48. Sorry to reply here once more, I have a question this time around.

Does anyone know when Miss Kitty was released? I was trying to pinpoint a date for when I got my girl, but I didn't post for her arrival. My older posts have me claiming that my husband and friend gifted her to me on pre-order in 2013. Does this add up?

Thank you in advance, and sorry for the question. I can't seem to find any info about her initial release date.

      • x 2
    49. Miss Kitty was released in December of 2012 according to the BJD Collectasy article. It makes sense to me, as I got mine in a trade in 2013 after the first owner didn’t bond with her.

      Miss Kitty & Mr Bunny

    50. Thank you for the info! I think they did get her on pre-order for me, because at the time she was a Christmas present but would be arriving late. Thanks again, I appreciate it! I forgot all about Mr. Bunny, oh my goodness. It's been so long!

    51. Crazy to think how time flies with dolls. All the iconic older sculpts...(am I still pining for a Nyu?...perhaps :sweat)

    52. Hello again!

Does anyone here have any suggestions on where to get these cuties some shoes that aren't made by DZ?
My husband got me this little brown yosd pair off Etsy, and while they technically fit they're too big.
It's okay with some socks on and I think it looks pretty cute, but, you know.

My Miss Kitty is my only yosd size doll, I had no idea just how much skinnier/smaller she was overall!

    53. Sorry, Onigirikiri, I'm not going to be much help. I love the look of big ol' shoes on my tinies. I stuff paper in the toe of the shoe to make the fit more secure, and punch an extra hole in the strap. I think it looks adorable. :chibi

That outfit is too cute! :D

      • x 2
    54. Thank you :aheartbea I thought she was so sweet in it!

Oh hey putting some material in the shoe is a good idea! Thanks for sharing that tip. I don't mind the look of the shoes being big at all-it's cute! But they kept falling off lol. That actually will really help.
