Hi guys, So here it comes- my first doll... Sort of. I have sculpted before but this is going to be more serious. I don't think that this lady will ever be produced or anything; I just wanted to experiment a little... Hence the body shape as well. I intend to change it a bit but for now, I'd like to show you what I've done so far. There's many more photos on my newly started blog if you fancy seeing some more: http://dollysimmo.blogspot.com/ All advice welcomed! Thank you for looking
Yay! Another dolly maker from London! Good start so far. The last picture doesn't seem to show up for me so I looked on your blog. Did you make straw cores for the arms or are you planning on drilling them? Also, out of curiousity, how big is she going to be? ^^; I'm guessing atm as tall as your Enchanted Dolls.
They look so silly at that stage, when they have stick-bit limbs... Looks like a great start, I like her low-balanced body, this seems to be a big failing of the mass-market BJDs, none of them have really voluptuous hips, because they're all made in the image of society's dominant aesthetic.
I see you've already taken some advice from your other topic. It is so difficult to start on such a complex project. You have started! Well done! I've taken a look at your blog, and will be following your progress there, as well as here. I'm hoping you'll be following Martha Armstrong-Hand's tutorial, since you own the book? This is so exciting.
A bit of progress... Thank you! Some more WIP on my doll... Still such a loooooong way to go but I'm loving the process! This forum is a wonderful help. Thank you so much guys!!! My first doll- WIP by cureilona (www.lightpainting.co.uk), on Flickr More on Flickr or here: http://dollysimmo.blogspot.com/ Many thanks for looking. EDIT: She is 25-26 cm tall at the moment, she will be smaller when (if) casted. I use aluminium foil for the core and/or wire or straws for limbs. I'm planning to cut her up when she's finished and installing ball joints. If she doesn't break or has to many cracks...
She is still in a rough stage of development, but I really like her, so far! Thank you for the links to your Flickr and weblog sites! I'll be following your progress with great interest. You are following Martha Armstrong-Hand's tutorial, in her book Learning to be a Doll Artist, aren't you?
