He is such a liar... 'I am committed to completing the deliveries for existing orders..' Umm? Really? So what about the people who ordered years ago? I still have in my mind the story where he tried to charge a poor girl twice by claiming he never received the money. It's unbelievable how he is still trying to run his 'business.' He should just simply shut it down, as he will never complete the old orders.
I wanted to pop in here and just discuss the grief (seems silly I know) about not getting the doll you dreamed of for so long. The girl I had ordered I made peace with the fact I would never get. Instead ordered a girl from another company to shell the character. How is everyone else doing are you in anger or grief? Just color me curious.
Didn't he brag about having bought a Ferrari at some point? I don't have any business with Dollshe but sometimes I check this thread out of curiosity to see if things are getting resolved, but it seems like it just keeps getting worse. Now it's 3 extra dolls to get the ones on hostage. Compare to Souldoll who got in a similar situation with delays getting out of hand, but closed their orders and took responsibility fulfilling the ones pending first. That's professionalism.
Not only do I have remorse...for ordering a Dollshe (I knew there was a risk, but the sale was very good and I'm not out the full price at least )...but I feel I always want to add a 'disclaimer' for any other Dollshe doll I own and photograph and post. I know it's not the doll's fault....but I don't want to promote his company in any way by showing nice photos of his dolls. This month it will be five years...and counting.
I do the same thing with my Dollshes!! When I do pics of any of them, it’s with the heavy disclaimer to only buy secondhand!!
At this point I really should just accept the fact that I won’t be able to get my dolls. I feel like I’m being punished for ordering from him even though no one imagined it would be this bad right after.
@Chameleon - Oh so glad to hear I'm not the only who now puts a disclaimer when posting photos of his dolls! It's such a shame to feel the need to do it...but it's essential, I believe.
I'm so sorry for ya'll, what a horrible situation caused by a greedy man. I got my first BJD from Dollshe, back in 2007-- I remember the doll being late and receiving an extra shirt and wig to make up for the late shipment. Wild how quickly he spiraled, in retrospect.
I ordered Dollshe Leo 11/10/2020 with a full payment via paypal, kept an updated address in paypal. I have never received ANY communication since they took my money for the full set. With this being the #1 factor, I cannot say that it's okay for anyone to order. I have accepted this was my loss. From what I understand, the English-speaking market was never a priority for any deliveries. The only people that MAY have received an order was not part of this market. I'd love to own this doll, and would still have interest in one second-hand. There is literally no other doll I would want to buy. I've not bought a doll in many years due to this. It's very unfortunate as I finally have the means to purchase anyone I could ever possibly want. I want Dollshe Leo, and that is all.
It is other firms and authors who prioritize fulfilling their obligations to customers, but Mr. Kim always prioritizes his own business and profit. Customers can wait. This is very annoying and discourages any desire to justify or support him.
The way my jaw dropped. I thought it was crazy that he (or anyone, really, finish your dolls first people) was posting so many actual pre orders for dolls that didn't even have real faces. It's bad enough with the 3D models, but the AI pictures are... mind blowing. The audacity.
I thought I was crazy while looking at the site. It boggles my mind that someone can charge hundreds of dollars for something with an AI image attatched to it. They don't even match up with the sculpts he's showing. That's awful. As someone who's new to the hobby, it's kind of crazy that Dollshe used to be a more reputable brand considering how it is now.
He shows the dolls hes working on, in AI, and when he made them finished, he shows the result. But if you want to order from the ai picture, its possible. Hes dolls is art quality. But know, its going to take time to get it. I waited for my Leo 70cm for soon four years. But, I got five of them home earlier. I love hes dolls.
Except for the times when he doesn't show the result, or at least doesn't update the listings on his website. Five of the Fashion Maxi size dolls are just 3D renderings of the headsculpt and I know that at least one of them has been cast and sold because I own a Marco head. His dolls that are made to resemble specific characters or actors largely comprise stills from movies or photographs of the actor in question.
How many do want to wait four years and never know if the doll is coming or not, do you think? Do you think I recommend it? I'm also sad.
I do not recommend buying from him! Not before hes company works fine again. Can take years, or never. Or if you want to risk the money, for maby get a doll at last. That how it is right now. I still love his dolls. I have five at home, I ordered in the pandemy. ( it was a way to survive it) I hope to get my last ordered doll from him, but Im not sure if I going get it. He is not sending them out without extra money, and he is not reading all mejl, or answer them. I hope its going to be better. I payed my doll four years ago, and still hopefully wait. I do not hate him. I understand that life can be complicated. I buy other dolls while I wait. I think we all is wise enough to choose for themselves, what we want to do. But we need fact. This dolls are not allowed here. Thats a fact too. I do not show mine. The two dollpictures that I have here is before the ban, and they was allowed to keep. Why don't Doa take away this disscussion? We are not allowed to discusse banned dolls. I should be happy to not see this tread.
Because it's needed for people, who are not aware what a dishonest person he has turned out to be. BTW, The dolls are most likely NOT coming. Waiting 4 years is outrageous, but if you want to wait, that's your right, but I don't think most people think like you do and are upset, which is their right to be after being scammed out of their doll. And it does feel like you are defending his way of doing things, which are not the proper or correct way to do business.
Also, while there's some overlap with another waiting room, people can still be waiting for a Dollshe doll they purchased second hand. I am.
No, hes way to do bussiness is not the right way. He have problems, and can not give us all the doll we paid for. Its not okej! I'm sure he knows it too. But this is how it is now. And I hope it changes. For him, and for us.
Hopefully it's okay to post here, despite not waiting for one of his dolls. Earlier this evening I found a Japanese wiki for BJDs and have been poking around it much of the night. Eventually I came across the page for Dollshe (translation - original) and it turns out that the massive delays are not just affecting orders from the English site. This wiki has some big red letter text on the wiki warning people not to buy from him. "There have been cases in South Korea, Japan, China, and other regions where orders have not arrived for over five years." There is also a bit that mentions the ban of his dolls here on DoA. I've seen it mentioned both here and elsewhere that he's only been scamming people who have ordered through his English site and through dealers in the west. This very much seems to not be the case.
@Leenah, thanks for sharing this. I admit I'm among those who felt that Dollshe was deliberately scamming Western customers, happily exploiting our weakness when it comes to half-price sales. It's a little cold comfort to see that he's an equal-opportunity scammer!
This is an old post but... I'm one of the lucky few who managed to recieve mine (which I ordered in 2020) in 2022. However... I have such a weird feeling of guilt that mine arrived over people who didn't recieve theirs, and all the drama around the doll (plus being banned on DoA now). I've done literally nothing with her in the 3 years she's been here. But I also don't want to sell her and give up totally on the plans I had for her. It's such a weird feeling having physical space being held hostage by a doll in a box that I neither want to work with, nor give up the dream of. It's the worst thing I've experienced in this hobby since I started. I think you're valid in your feelings and I am proud for you that you were able to move on in some way.
Yeah, this situation quelled enthusiasm for the hobby for me and it just hasn't been the same since. I waited years for a body that would need extensive tattoo work. Spoiler alert, the body never came, but I could technically have tattooed a body I already had back then even though the colour was off. I could then have gotten on with several more photostories I had in the works requiring the doll be fully finished. But I didn't want to put in weeks of work on detailed tattoos when the 'right' body was "shipping any day now". Been sitting with that thought for six entire years now. So, in addition to being out the money, it also feels like he stole a lot of time and progress on other hobby goals. I'm having a hard time recovering from that.
I working on a portrait of my siblings, and a brother never came. I still have hope, but many years is gone.. He came home this week! Leo! So now I have my hole family in dolls!
Is there any other way we can get legal processes for this? Emailing him is no use and tbh I have lost almost all hope. He is still actively making new sculpts as we speak...
There was a legal suit started by one of the vendors that sold for Dollshe (and whose orders Dollshe did not fullfill either). However, there have not been any updates on this in a long time now.
Let's get something straight - trauma is not colloquial. And neither is fraud. Let's not use such wordings for either.
I’m in that Discord for the Diva’s lawsuit. I bought direct from Dollshe, so I can’t be part of it, but I stay in there just waiting to hear the day he goes to court and karma serves him something hot and rank. There haven't been any new updates for a long time. The last legal update was from September last year. The lawyers have the info they need and are preparing accordingly. Other posts were made but it’s more along the lines of keeping track of what he is putting up on his website, any new emails he actually answers.
He answered our email, and sent the doll recently. We did what he wanted us to do. I waited for it 4,5 years. Its on shipping in Warsaw now. Half way. It is not at home yet. I'm waiting hopefully. I also bought a second hand old head with some years old faceup to it, painted 2017. Very good faceupartist. One of my favorite. So I can show it on Doa in some weeks. Old orders and old second hand is okej to show, I read.
You are lucky. I tried emailing him last time, asking for an update. He has not responded until now. Oh actually he has. Two days ago. I can't believe I missed this. He said this: " Dear [my name], I believe I have explained this several times before. Currently, customers who are receiving their BJDs are doing so through the **deposit-free pre-order system**. We do **not take even a single dollar in advance** — orders are accepted first, and payment is made **only after the BJD is completed and ready for immediate shipment**. The BJDs being shipped now are sent **together with delayed BJDs**, made possible through **additional orders**. Without an additional order, there is **no way to cast and ship** the delayed BJDs. Realistically, it is **impossible to ship** the delayed BJDs without new orders. I am truly sorry. Best regards, Sculptor DK 2025년 10월 22일 (수) 오전 1:00, “
He’s such a liar I can’t even stand it. He’s the owner of the company, so he ultimately is responsible for what happens within it. Don’t blame your contractor/staff for leaving. Don’t blame a website that doesn’t want its members to give your scam a platform (which happened AFTER he was already not shipping orders.) I don’t know the exact number of dolls he has backlogged, but I would bet its hundreds, which equals thousands of dollars - going back YEARS. Then he wants to blame his customers for not wanting to wait YEARS with no transparency on any kind of timeline of arrival. YEARS. Who would go into an agreement with paying hundreds of dollars for something knowing it's going to be INDEFINITE YEARS before you get it? And then to offer getting the dolls he is holding hostage if you order more dolls??? Really??? Reality - HE JUST STOLE OUR MONEY. I ordered and paid for one doll. Because I only wanted ONE doll. I didn’t sign up for any “BOGO” (or should I say BODGAUYBM - buy one don’t get any until you buy more.) I already know that if his stock sale inventory posting was correct, HE SOLD MY DOLL. So where’s my refund?????? He doesn’t even have my product anymore. Legend_to_none’s screenshots show he told imaginary_vacui to just email Dollshe Craft to cancel your order. Notice it says cancel your order, not GET A REFUND. And I have sent him MULTIPLE emails saying if it is not possible to ship my PAID-IN-FULL doll by xyz date, I wanted a full refund, including the shipping. CRICKETS. He’s a thief and a liar. As I see it, he messed up running his business and rather than taking care of the issues while it was still manageable, he let it go until he was over his head and it will be almost impossible to fix the damage. And rather than do the responsible thing and focus on refunding people their money (as he claims all his new ventures from his immense talent is bringing in) he’s just ignoring us… until he has to wave off an email or IG post with a lame response that blames anyone but himself. He’s not taking care of older customers who he has a responsibility to first. He’s sold/tried to sell stock that was already paid for and belongs to someone. He’s clearly not making an effort to even look at past orders and trying to match them with inventory to fulfill what’s already been bought. He’s not looking at any of the mess he created. He’s just swept it under the rug like it never happened until someone says they will give him more money (read as jack up the price on a product you already paid for.) That’s illegal. That’s irresponsible. That’s unprofessional. That’s a scam. That’s thievery. If we were all in the same jurisdiction to sue him, he would most certainly be in jail right now. His sculpts are lovely, yes. That’s why we are all here in this thread. But that skill alone does not absolve him of his illegal acts and I will be glad when he is held accountable for his actions. I live in the US and have enough dealing with lack of accountability from my own lame government right now. I don’t need his BS on top of it.
MODERATION NOTE All dolls associated with Dollshe made after November 8th 2023 are banned from the forum. That Dollshe is requiring the purchase of a banned doll to ship old orders cannot be discussed here. If you have purchased a banned Dollshe doll, all we ask is that you do not mention it on DoA. We also ask that if you have decided to transact further with a banned brand, that you keep that private.
I got my last order Leo sd +pose home the 3rd of nov 2025, last week. Leo was ordered 2021-3. Now I got all my ordered dolls from Dollshe since 2021. All ordered directly from Dollshe. I have no more orders at Dollshe now. I'm happy now, so I leave this tread. Thankyou, and god luck to you all. ⚘️
Welp, I just bought an old school Bernard here on the DoA Marketplace that I have been hoping to rescue from dolly oblivion. He's at least 12 years old, so way before the shenanigans of the DollShe outfit started. I awoke this morning with thoughts of my Bemann and his new buddy Bernard meeting up soon, lost brothers! So, I thought I'd take that excitement, even for an 'oldie-but-goodie', and tack it to the end of this waiting-room/ rant-room, because the excitement of receiving this little lost boy is no less real, hehe! He is on a one month lay-away right now, as doll buying was not on my horizon, but I knew I would be full of regret later if I didn't take the plunge. He's gonna feel right at home in my mostly old school collection! I already have some pants and a wig for him, but he'll need shoes eventually. I'm gonna hand sew up a turtleneck sweater to keep his long neck warm and crochet a beanie for his winter comfort, after a gentle spa treatment and re-stringing. He has a very early AngelToast face-up that I will be keeping as her work has become a part of BJD history that he bears example of, and makes him even more of a treasure, in my opinion!
Back for my yearly damn-you-Dollshe complaint. It's been over five years and my poor floating head still doesn't have a body. I'm trying not to be bitter towards the dealer I purchased from, but it's frustrating to have lost a good chunk of my fun money.
21-03 ordered 25-11-03 delivered , years of waiting for him , until he arrived. Now he is stringed. Got all my dolls from Dollshe now. Many years waiting. Not going to buy more from him.
Yes, I love hes dolls more than any dolls, and Im' very happy for the final result. They are home now. But it was a pressure to not know if he was coming or not.
He is breathtaking tovej! So glad for you, you finally got all your dolls at last! And seeing your final boy here reminded me again what special dolls they are and how gutwrenching it is things turned out this way with dollshe, I'm so mad at him, it's such a loss. I don't think I'll ever love other artists dolls as much as I loved dollshe's.
