Here are some photos of my recent arrival, a Dollshe Neo in fashion size! He is my first blank doll. I admittedly felt a bit uneasy about getting him due to him being blank, and because of various issues concerning the maker. But, now that I have him, I do not regret my choice! I adore him very much despite some "flaws" I've noticed. First, the box: I was too excited to take him out that I didn't take a picture of him in the box. So, I have to be honest and say that I was a little bit disappointed he didn't get his own collectible box. My first doll, from Dollmore, came in a nice solid box with cushions. I guess I assumed that every doll would have their own box, which is apparently not the case here. I think even my doll is a bit sad that he only has a shipping container for a box. Regardless, he came well packed in form fitting foam and arrived with no damage, which I am grateful for. And here he is with all the goodies! I must say that I really like the way the body looks aesthetically. He has a very lovely, and delicately sculpted abdomen, which is what initially drew me to this doll. I've found that in comparison to many muscular male dolls, including Dollshe's newest body sculpt, the muscles are a little bit "too much." I absolutely love the different expressions! I'm definitely going to have fun with all of these. Now, as much as I love the body, there are some little things that bother me, mainly the hands/wrist joint. Here's a photo with my Dollmore boy for comparison. His hands are huuuuge~! I really didn't like it at first, but the sizing has since kind of grown () on me. The character I intend to have this doll represent is a big boy, so it fits. There's just one issue... His hands are too massive for his wrists... and then this happens. With my Dollmore boy (and most dolls, I imagine) the wrist is a perfect sphere joint, so the hands look nice in every angle. Unfortunately for my Neo, he's really only intended to look good with his hands in one default position. I'm hoping this can be remedied somewhat with a bit of sueding. Then, there's the feet... Welp, all I can say is that it's a good thing I'm committed to making things for him, including shoes for them chonky 7cm by 3cm feets Aside from these issues, I'm really loving him so far! I received him almost two months ago, and yesterday I finally finished sanding his seam lines! I'm really excited to get started on faceups and body blushing, but that is still a long way off. But, even though he is blank, he is absolutely mesmerizing to me~
Congratulations on your new arrival! As the dollshe situation has become I'm glad he was delivered to you! He's really beautiful. Dollshe was always known for good attention to detail in the sculpts. It's a real shame on the wrist design though! I'm a bit surprised that was overlooked. I hope you have a ton of fun designing his clothes! I think that although very odd sizes can be a challenge it's satisfying work too
Thank you! I'm really looking forward to making all the things I think I may have too many ideas... I want to make his 'default' outfit, numerous stylish suits and accessories, and some fun/silly things too, like a catboy outfit because reasons It's difficult to stay focused, ehe.
Now there's a handsome lad, congrats on his arrival! Even with the hands being so large, I think that could work in his favor since they have such nice detail. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the future!
Thank you! The hands are definitely unique and have their own charm. I'll post more pictures as I progress on his customization
It's definitely uncommon for a bjd to not have a branded box... this is my first time seeing a legit doll that comes without. But, knowing Mr. Dollshe's reputation, I am not surprised. A box like the one Dollmore sent you is definitely the norm! Thankfully, your handsome man arrived, and unbroken, so the box ended up doing its job Good shipping box! You pointed out the sculpting on his tummy, and I agree! Strong looking abs without looking like he's always flexing Very nice. Beautiful feet and hands, shame about the wrists. Those multiple faces are beautiful, looking forward to seeing your new guy come together! Also, +1 vote for a catboy look in his future With that mischievous expression, it would be a crime not to let his inner cat boy shine!
Yeah, I'm still bummed about not having a box. I was browsing the Dollshe waiting room and some people's dolls weren't even strung when they arrived, so I feel lucky in that respect. My friend says I should try making a personalized box, so I've been looking around thrift stores to see if I could find something large enough to work as one, then maybe decorate it with fanarts and stuff to make it 'his.' Yesh! More catboys, I say! I have an idea of using the sad/angry (I think it's called 'Serious Expression') head as 'cute' embarrassed kind of face and giving him anime style blush marks on the face up
Those are both amazing ideas, a custom personalized box and a cute shy face with blush marks Hope to see your ideas come to life!
Thank you! I'm going to try my best! I tried doing a faceup for the first time on a practice head yesterday and it was... disappointing I'm going to need a lot more practice to figure out stuff. I underestimated the difficulty curve for painting on such tiny heads.
Don't be hard on yourself, it's a lot more difficult than it seems, right? But luckily, you can repaint over and over until you get the hang of it and end up with something you're happy with
It really is! Those tiny eyebrows! Tiny everything, really I need to remember to be patient and seal often.
Congratulations Sanar on your new arrival! How exciting! It's always so nice to see when collectors receive their Dollshe bjds. I hope that the wait was not too long. Mr. Dollshe makes beautiful boys, and there is so much details in the sculpt. Nero is anxtremely good looking young lad. Looking forward to see how he looks with a faceup and body blushing. Years ago Dollshe used to ship dolls with these beautiful presentation boxes that were specific to the mold. Over the years the Dollshe branded boxes were downgraded to a generic Dollshe box. As other people have mentioned, many other collectors have reported their dolls arriving unstrung and in a small box.
Thank you! Thankfully he shipped in four months, so the wait wasn't too long. I had emailed Dollshe before making the purchase because I have another Dollshe boy (Saint) on order from two years ago that still hasn't shipped yet. They assured me that the Limited BJDs would not be delayed, so I took the chance. I'm happy I did, but I hope my other boy ships soon... I sent an email last week to check in and I haven't received a reply yet =T That's sad about the boxes too.
Sanar, that's wonderful that Dollshe shipped Nero within 4 months. It is great to hear that you didn't have to wait so long. So many people have reported two to three year old waiting time. I sincerely hope you get your Saint soon. The 18M body is tall and lanky and perfectly captures that teenage boy look. I took a risk as well and placed a few orders with Dollshe, so hopefully they won't take three years to arrive. lol
I hope you won't have to wait long either! From my understanding/opinion based on website posts and correspondence with Dollshe, they will prioritize the Limited and Joseon Dynasty line of bodies, and aim for wait times of five months or less on those lines. Any of the popular classic maxi and fashion maxi will be eight months or longer (ideally). Once I received Neo, I was excited and decided to order a Diana Fashion Maxi on sale at the time. I expect the wait for her will be around a year at least. I don't need her right away, so if I get her in a year I'll be happy. However, depending on how the situation goes, she might be my last direct order from Dollshe. It really isn't fair to keep others waiting
From looking at the Dollshe site, I got the same gist as you. Although Mr. Dollshe is saying the regular classic and fashion lines take around 6 to 7 months to produce. Realistically, I agree with you, I think those will take at least a year to produce. Maybe Mr. Dollshe will pleasantly surprises us. LOL! During the last sale, I ordered a Diana, Lisa, Rosa, and Robin. I wonder if the Jeokwoo and Sunwoo sculp from the "Limited 100 Idol line" has the same body type of the Neo "Supermodel Limited 100 line". The Supermodel body looks a bit more muscular, than the Idol body, albeit both are very defined.
I think the Idol body would probably share similarities to the Supermodel model body, such as the large hands/feet and narrow wrist. The Idol body definitely appears more slender overall though. The neck circumference looks like it might be smaller than Neo's and the abs are much more defined. I kind of would like to have Jeokwoo, but I'm waiting for Dollshe's reply on the status of my Saint.
Whenever I see such hands I inevitably think 'Yaoi hands'. I can't help myself... Also, is that a jointed peen in the extras package??? Dollshe dolls sure are something. I can see why people like them, if only Dollshe had a baseline of reliability.
'Yaoi hands' ... I can't unsee this now And yesh! There do be a jointed eggplant! I don't know of any other makers aside from Dollshe that make them for dolls in the mini/fashion range. I appreciate having the option, ehe. It's really a shame Dollshe's reliability is poor. I really hope it improves so that long time collectors and newbies like myself can continue to enjoy these dolls.
Thank you! Hopefully I'll have his faceup done soon so he'll be even more handsome! I'm hoping I'll have something I'm satisfied with by next week, buhh that's probably too optimistic
