Dollshe Discussion - Part Thirteen

Aug 18, 2017

    1. Numbers in a hat mixed with quantum portals to keep things interesting when choosing what is next to be cast. I totally stand by that assertion of how stuff gets decided to be cast with Dollshe.

    2. Actually, I think they just play a game of Bingo with our order numbers.

    3. Another extension of the "Last Discontinuation Sale" ::head meets desk:: Why? :...( Can I please just have my orders :pout:

    4. I wish they would just reply to my email already. 3 emails over 3 months, ignored.

    5. @rianne - Oh he looks gorgeous! Copper Oriental is one of my favourite colours.

    6. Can anyone tell me which of the plastic cards goes with the body? Black or white? Thanks in advance.

    7. White goes with the body.

    8. Thanks. I wanted to be sure new owner got the right card.

    9. I bet this sale will speed things up for the current horribly backlogged situation. Nothing like being swamped with new emails to provide the focus Dollshe needs. I was tempted for about two seconds but since I have two on order I realized I would have to be crazier than Dollshe to throw more money at the guy.

    10. A new day, a new order to get picked out of their orders hat. :sigh

      • x 2
    11. The sale is tempting on the one hand but at the same time it screams "Run away!" to me. Taking on even more orders for products that you're currently having a difficult time getting out the door (and that have long been paid for in some instances) seems both foolish and irresponsible of Dollshe.

I may have points and a coupon but I'm not going to use it. I'll cruise the MP, thank you.

    17. Kilian and Nimbus found each other. They make each other laugh. I now have 3 official couples, who knows what goes on behind my back. :o

    19. @TMari - that's good news. finally! it's so sad that we're delighted even after fourteen months or more. we're all so freakin' grateful to get what we paid for
before we die of old age or lose interest in bjds. or marry and have children and are too busy. you can live a lot of your life waiting for a Dollshe doll.

    20. @SteamWitch 3 couples? My entire collection is made up of couples. That's why I have so damn many (or at least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it).

Out of 46 dolls only 2 don't have a partner. Naicree is waiting for the dolly gods to favour me and have Soom offer the Azur mer-body in an FCE (I'm not holding my breath on that). Cynara is basically a toddler so.... I've tried to purchase single dolls. It's never worked out and they end up demanding a partner.

    21. Have you considered fanfic? I'd totally read it! :evilplot:

    22. Amanda owners:

Wrinkled lips or not? And any regrets for decision one way or the other?

      • x 1
    23. I don't have an Amanda (or collect girls for that matter) but I've never been a fan of the wrinkled lip thing. I understand the desire for hyper-realism, but I'd prefer to have the look painted on if I wanted to go that route.

    24. Hello! Let me show you my beautiful girl, Madison

    25. Just make sure you have "the talk" with them. Safety first!

@AdamK I got my Ausley with wrinkled lips and I think the texture looks great. No regrets there. But it's probably more subtle with her than with Amanda's pouty mouth.

      • x 1
    26. She's stunning, I love the mood of the photo so much!

    27. I love the wrinkled lips on my Grant so got them Amanda as well, but I am hugely into the hyper-realism thing, as Iron _Dog called it!

    28. I can appreciate how life-like the sculpts are, especially some of the ones I've seen that are minimes of famous people. I'm wowed at what can be accomplished with paint/pastels. But it's not something I want for my guys. Then again, the majority of my guys are fantasy-based so the hyper-realism wouldn't work for them in my head.

      • x 1
    29. That makes perfect sense! And for me I basically put them on display, and plan on painting them very realistically (to the best of my abilities *cough*) and constantly change their clothes and hair, so my focus is flexibility. :)

    30. Since my guys are all characters from my novels, their hair/eyes never changes (issues with finding the right eyes/wig for some of them aside). I'm really lazy about changing their clothes, too. I'd probably do it more if I had them out on display but I have idiot cat and he firmly believes that several of my dolls wigs are his toys and he will steal the wig right off a doll if I don't watch him around them. To be fair, the wigs are either mohair or rabbit/fox/coyote fur so I can see where he thinks they're his to play with. Probably doesn't help any that I'll chase him through the house trying to get the wig back and he then thinks we're playing.

    31. Oooo novels! (I'm currently writing paranormal romance indie, so if you're willing to conversation your books - but no issue if not, I understand online-identity protection - I'd love to read them!) That's an incredible way to do it/source for personalities.

Heh I'm actually pretty concerned about that, both our boy cats are baaaaaaaad and scampy as hell, although at 16 they've luckily slowed down quite a bit. I think I've found a spot on the wall for these floating shelves I found that they can't get to, but of course, when it comes to cats, where there's a will to destroy, there's a way.... *looks at our sad, savaged air plant garden that Bingley traumatized to the point where they're slowly dying off even after we moved them out of his way, sighs*

    32. Ok here's another question:

Has anyone tried to shorten an Amanda (or 26F) neck? Or enlarge opening in head?

    33. I'd love to talk books/characters. PM or email me (silverirondog at gmail dot com) and away we go. I respond very promptly to emails since that's always open even at work. PM's tend to be a touch slower as I don't always sign in to DoA at work. Do be warned that I'm quite chatty about my novels. I used to be with a publisher but they imploded in a very messy way about 1.5 years ago. I have all my rights back but that took months *sighs* and then getting my books taken down from the various websites where they were still being sold (and the former publisher keeping all sales *grrrrrrrr*) took another couple of months. I'm checking out self-pub but haven't put anything out via that means yet. I do have stuff that I post for free-reads though and I'm a guest author on a website so I am still writing. I'm actually working on a story, The Dire Heart, that is fricken eating my brain right now. In roughly 2 months I've written 110K on just that story alone.

As far as Dollshe boys go, Wu-Tyr (Orijean) is one of the gods from my Divine Worship world. I was supposed to start his and Yalaren's (SD Ize) story, Rolling In The Deep, next but Ondraeden (Soom ID51 London) and Valerian (Iple FID Claude vampire) are the characters of the story eating my writing life. Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled that I'm writing so much but I had Wu-Tyr/Yalaren all plotted out and ready to roll and... yeah. Writer brain took a hard left on me and refuses to be pulled back on course.

    38. @AdamK - I've got wrinkled lips on my David and Grant and they're really quite lovely. They don't look too crazy and they're barely noticeable unless you're up close.

@Katushka_Nitok - Oh gosh your girls are absolutely gorgeous! :D Their dresses are wonderful!

      @Noelblue - Another writer! Woo! :)

    40. I think I'm leaning toward wrinkles. I agree it adds to the realism, which is one of the things I like about Dollshe. I wish her neck wasn't so long though. Kind of reminds me to Igor Pantuhoff paintings.

    45. @Katushka_Nitok - I just realized that I have one of your Etsy outfits and another on the way. You are an excellent seamstress. Here is my IH girl in one of your outfits. Will add small photo as this is not a Dollshe girl.

    57. @rianne I like how you did the face-up on your Arsene. I always think that sculpt, even blank, looks... worried. It's nice to see one that doesn't look like he's waiting for something bad to happen.

    58. @brichu I have my fingers crossed for all of you lol.

@Iron_Dog Thanks! Yeah, the brow bone definitely encourages that direction. I like his funny puppy face, but such detailed sculpting can be limited in its own way. I've seen a few that compensate in the opposite direction and make him brooding with down-turned brows (which is neat but not what I wanted), so it was a challenge to find an in-between place that allowed for a range of expression.

WELP. I ordered a Michael Bowie through BJDivas. Here's hoping that his lack of popularity actually makes the wait time reasonable.

    59. I have a couple of "frowny" dolls where they have sculpted, drawn down brows but their characters demanded that look and it's not a severe look (the frown could probably be down-played with creative painting). I think companies take a bit of a risk in doing sculpts that have a very definite expression as opposed to the typical neutral look. The one that springs right to mind is RD Mona who is sculpted to be crying. I think it's neat that they tried that but I wouldn't want a doll that is crying. The expression is too extreme for me.
