Dollshe Discussion - Part Ten

Oct 11, 2016

    1. @sno4wy It's not just you, the mobile site is terrible, and a nightmare to navigate!

I think only dolls like Khan are meant by "limited dolls", even though yes, 28M and 26F have those labels. I think they're only "limited" because of the intended discontinuation.

I hope the increase in staff helps push Arsene through - obviously for personal reasons (if I could get mine before mid-Feb, that'd be awesome. Probably unlikely though!) - but also for the sake of those in the one-year club!

    2. I have been checking and almost everything is "sold out" so not sure what sales he was promoting with that email.

    3. I wish I had read this thread before I ordered from them because now I see what an awfully long wait I have! At least I found out now so that I'm not waiting and wondering :huh?:
Does anyone know though if the optional parts for the 28M and 28F will be available agaim? I understood that many dolls are being discontinued, but I thought hands and feet would still be available. I ordered Grant and Ausley, and I didn't get the extra hands and feet that I wanted, because I just figured I would get them later, but now I see all those parts are "sold out". Does anyone know if they will be available again? I feel stupid for not ordering them at the same time now, I just thought at the time that I'd pace my spending.

    4. Ahhh ok... I guess they are unpredictable on every front :S

    5. @direpoodle On every front except quality. Mr. Kim does a magnificent job with sculpting -- and the finishing is lovely.

    6. That's very reassuring to hear. In the end I suppose it's the only thing that matters, but I think it's such a shame that such talented work is not partnered with reliability. :s He would probably benefit from someone else running the business end and keeping things on schedule while he gets to do the creative aspect.

    7. Is anything on sale actually available for purchase on the site? It looks like the only dolls that are listed as not sold out are the order made bjds and Amanda Beauty fashion full set, which don't have a 30% discount.

    8. Not yet, this new 30% sale is from the 5th of January to 5th of February. They probably update the prices then.

On a positive note, I got my answer on the missing coupon issue. They had some technical problems preventing some people to use the coupons. But now I got it back and I can finally use it. Yay! I'm planning to order Fashion Natalie as I can't resist of owning my own little Padmé.

    9. It wouldn't be the first time that Dollshe has sent out an announcement before updating the web site. Of course he'll get everything available again and then announce the sale is over. Then he'll discontinue everything. Then he'll bring it all back at full price. Then he'll have a sale. Lather, rinse, repeat.

      • x 2
    10. According to the new sales announcement,it doesn't start until January fifth, and goes till February fifth. That's why there isn't anything for sale yet.: it doesn't start again till Friday.

    11. Thank you, AnnieStar and MAITALIA, for the dates of the sale. I'm new to the ways of Dollshe, so I've been bummed that I couldn't buy some dolls I wanted that were on sale, before they were discontinued. I'm glad there's maybe a little more time to get a doll at the sale price.

    12. @mimi100 -- If you go back through this thread and the ones preceding it, you'll find that Dollshe does this fairly frequently. By "this" I mean announce that things are going permanently discontinued and that IT'S YOUR LAST CHANCE TO GET IT!!!!, as well as the LIMITED TIME DISCOUNTS!!!!!. So, tl;dr version is that you have more than a little more time to get the doll you want at the sale price. When and how frequently will you have that chance? No one knows. :P

    13. Hmm...well hopefully he shows what the Grown Saint will look like before the next lot of sales end. I'd love to buy a head or two if possible.

    14. I have a bit of a puzzle here that I hope you guys can help me out with. In early September I ordered a 26F body in fresh skin. She arrived with all option hands, legs, etc. In late September I ordered a 26F body in Oriental skin (fresh skin didn't match). She arrived WITHOUT the option hands, legs, etc. The price was the same and the orders were only a few weeks apart.

I contacted Dollshe about this and they said the option parts only come with full set dolls with a head and that the first order was a mistake since they included them. But I swear I saw in this thread other people getting high heel legs and such with bodies. And they are in the picture at the bottom of the listing for the 26F body. So what's the deal?

I'm SUPER bummed. The high heel legs were the main feature of this doll for me, and I basically can't use her without them. I guess the option parts will go back in stock soon and I can order them, but uuuugh I want her to be DONE.

The good news is I spent a long resin-dust-filled day modifying the Dollshe neck to fit my Elfdoll Hazy head and making all her seams disappear. She looks AWESOME. I will post pictures once I blush her.

    15. Allurose:
Last fall Dollshe announced that he was eliminating the full packages, where you doll order came with all the extra hands/heads/feet available for that doll for one price.it was in October or November,I believe , and gave a few weeks to order the full packages before they were discontinued. After that, you could still get the extra parts, but had to order them separately, for an additional cost.

That's why you have seen people get their dolls with all the extras , at the base price.
Perhaps,Dollshe meant that your order was processed as a full package, after the option was discounted.

      Hope that clears things up^_^

    16. What happened to Dollshe Discussion - Part Nine? It has disappeared, there is no link to it.

    17. Well that SORT OF makes sense, but considering I placed both orders in September I still am pretty grumpy about it. At least I can get option parts once they are back in stock.

Speaking of feet and shoes... so her feet are 8.5 long and 3cm wide. I am thinking about giving the following shoes a try, since the measurements are close or slightly bigger. If anyone has these shoes and wants to save me some trouble, I would really appreciate it knowing if they fit!

      SoulDoll Zenith girl size:
*Special ball jointed doll for you, SOULDOLL*

      SoulDoll Tera-Zenith size:
*Special ball jointed doll for you, SOULDOLL*

      SD17 boy size:
      FS000026 [FS000026] - $44.90 : DollHeart, by DollHeart.com
      KS000032 [KS000032] - $42.90 : DollHeart, by DollHeart.com

    18. I would love to see that. Post it on the Elfdoll discussion group too.

    19. @allurose ask to Dollshe if is possible to buy now separately the missing parts, from what i understand optional hands and heel legs/feet, in that way you will have a close match, i'm sure that as dollshe has still a queue of orders for 26F classic body will not refuse, take note that ordering later may leads to a mismtach with your actual body, finger crossed for you.

    20. Thank you I will! It is a little scary to modify a doll neck, but it isn't as hard as I thought before I did it. I even made new places for the Dollshe silicone kips. Hopefully I can blush her this weekend.

    21. Thank you that is a really good tip. I do want the parts to match!!

    22. Locked threads gets continuously cleansed and removed from DoA, so it has probably been deleted :)

As for my Dollshe Aramis, I'm still so motivated to get him home, even after these... er... five months of waiting. It's a good sign, I feel, since the last doll I had to wait for over five months for just popped its head out of the box before finding a new home again. With that being said I wouldn't mind getting Aramis home today rather than in a month, but yeah... Too much to hope for I reckon x)

    23. Help! I'm trying to checkout my order at Dollshe, but the page just won't redirect me to paypal. I'm on chrome, does anyone know if another browser might work???

Turns out I could checkout the order without the coupon applied. I wrote to dollshe and asked for the amount to pay with the coupon applied, I hope they will get back to me soon. I'll wait with the excitement until the first payment is made!

    24. Got the same issue with the coupon. Wish there was a better - or should I say, easier - way to use the coupon, but oh well. Add me to the list of people waiting for an updated total.

On a merrier note, my 18M replacement bodies are here! The bodies themselves are perfect, but for whatever reason both of them are strung with Oriental tone elastic. One of the bodies is in Pale tone, and man, it looks so off. Can't change it either, the replacement elastic given with both bodies is in Paletan!

    25. I also got tan replacement elastic for a lighter skinned (Oriental) doll. She's strung all right though. He must be running low on the lighter colors. :T

    26. That ain't right. Five, Six, Seven and Eight are still there. Why would Nine be singled out for deletion? Also I thought the point of this endeavor was to have a searchable dialogue of information.

    27. Yeah what @dollhausen said. ??? Oh no, maybe it fell into a blackhole due to all of the weird space/time Dollshe rift references.

    28. Yay!

    29. Look like dollshe got a new UK dealer!
I wonder if I can move my order to the dealer from Dollshe so I don't need to pay customs. Since Dollshe is in Korea and customs are expensive here in Sweden.

    30. Quick, before we trigger Article 50!

    31. *groans* @MadamMauMau please don't remind me. :sigh Looking forward to living with the consequences of all that... (not, obviously. Ugh!)

    32. Tell me about it... Actually, don't. The ever plummeting pound is reminder enough.

    33. That was the good thing about Dollshe's "discontinuation" announcement mid-last year for me personally lmao. If I hadn't panic-bought my King Corey before the June crash, I wouldn't have been able to buy him at all. I'm so glad I did. I'm all the more grateful for my small BJD crew now, knowing that there's no way I could afford any of them again if I had to buy them now.

    34. I bought the extra parts I needed for my doll today, along with a ton of other loot from Iplehouse and a few other places. Maybe I'll do a bit of a fashion show when it all arrives. Goodbye money!

After a lot of thinking, I've decided to mod one pair of her feet to fit into standard SD shoes. I figure if I can mod her neck, I can reduce her foot size, Cinderella-style. Wish me luck!

      • x 1
    35. Is it gross that my mind goes to the stepsisters in the original tale that cut off their toes and/or heels to fit into the tiny shoe? Ew...
I would just buy some feet that sort of fit her, but also fit into SD shoes. As they will be covered regardless, they don't have to match...and they can be temporary shoes.

      • x 1
    36. I do understand your fear, but after working so hard to match the resin of the doll's head to the body, I don't want to worry about testing out feet of different sizes and colors. And they will show with at least some of the shoes I want her to wear. Don't worry, Dr. Allurose has yet to cause a casualty! /dremel noises/ :P

    37. Dollshe replied to me today, turns out that the coupon could be applied to one doll only and I had two in my cart. Which is a bit of a bummer for me, but I still decided to order both dolls in the end. But good to know for you out there who think about ordering more than one doll!

    38. Good Luck! Since my Ausley is on the old body I'm SOL on extra parts. Luckily her character tends more toward goth/biker so over-sized boots aren't too unrealistic.

That UK dealer must not have read these threads.....otherwise she'd be very afraid.

    39. I think maybe she should read these threads, so then she cam give an honest delivery estimate...unlike dollshe directly. Also, this will save a lot of customs fees for all the European collectors. So it can only be a good thing.

      • x 1
    40. Do you suppose Dollshe will announce when Arsene Classic begins to ship, like they did with Rosa and Robin?

    41. I should imagine that, when someone finally gets their shipping notice, we will hear it shouted from the rooftops. No need for a formal announcement.

      • x 1
    42. I know I'll be shouting. I look everyday to see if PROCESSING has changed to something else.

    43. "That UK dealer must not have read these threads.....otherwise she'd be very afraid."

@dollhausen - That's the truth. Being a dealer for any bjd company must be fraught with peril, but Dollshe.....aaaaagh!
just dealing with customer questions would have me in tears.

    44. I have written a polite, but very frank, correspondence to DollShe today. Doubtless, he will disregard it.

      1. I have suggested that if he cannot see his way through to ensuring that production and shipment meet the guidelines he has posted on his website, that he take those guidelines down -- because he will hurt any potential relationship with new customers when he is perennially incapable of delivering timely.
      2. I have indicated that dolls should not be put up for sale until the design work is complete, the molds made, and the sponges manufactured ... evidently, I am a heretic. I've noted that he can definitely tease us through posting pictures and commentary on blogs and/or Facebook, but that dolls should not be offered up to sale until they are ready to be sold and shipped timely.
      3. I have pointed out that although we are sympathetic about his painful skin condition, there is great confusion even amongst his faithful when first he says that he has reduced the size of his staff, and then says that he is looking for a vendor to sell his new designs.
      4. I have posited that he will cause problems for such a vendor when he is not capable of timely delivering products for which they have taken money.

I have said that although his designs are still amongst the most beautiful and nicely finished, his chaotic business style is alienating even his most faithful and that while we are grateful for coupons, they amount to little if he is unable to get dolls out timely to those who have purchased them.

Sound business practices, organization and timeliness featured largely in my (hopefuly polite) missive.

I fully expect that if I get a letter back at all, it will be the typical shuffle shuffle cough cough, plus platitudes.

    45. I ordered an Amanda, an Arsene and a fashion Saint. I was told that Amanda and Arsene would ship first and that the new Saint would be done in two months. By the sound of things in this thread, I won't be seeing my dolls for a while yet at the earliest. :(

    46. Has anyone here asked in the last days if he intends to ship Arsene this year? (sorry for sounding cynical). I would be very interested in the answer - not that it would be a reliable one. One should think that by now he would be tired of all the customer nagging and finally ship the darn thing.

    47. I'm not sure how doll dealerships work, but I think maybe the only way it would work in this case is for a doll dealer to say, "send me what you have" and then sell whatever dolls arrive when they have them in hand. I don't think orders would work at all. If someone wanted a particular doll, perhaps the person could get their name on a waiting list, and if that particular doll ever came in, then the dealer could contact the buyer to see if they still wanted it. That said, I think Dollshe dolls would probably be good for a dealer to sell. Having them in hand and ready to ship would be a big plus.

    48. Very good list of our concerns and recommendations @Julie M. I wish that we could add our voices to it.

    49. considering the complex choices for body parts, pose plus configs, resin colors, I don't know how a dealer could stock dollshe dolls without ending up with old ones sitting around. most would have to be preordered.
maybe some copper oriental best sellers to have in stock. big & little Amanda & Grant.
it will be more As the Dollshecraft World Turns for us to watch.
      :XD:

    50. I've come to the conclusion that what I really want is for Dollshe to cast for more small companies/artists because I love their resin so much and it seems like the casting service side of things is run on a more timely schedule (or am I just hallucinating that part?)

    51. I have heard that casting quality for Dollstown dolls has taken a dip lately, with thinner resin and a generally lighter weight. I don't know that it was to the extent that parts were breaking, but that is a rather worrying development.

His sculpting has always been his selling point, So, I would rather he gave ALL casting to someone else to do and focused only on a sensible schedule of sculpting. That is never going to happen, though.

    52. Has anyone asked Dollshe when the new grown Saint's faces would be shown on the website?

    53. It wouldn't do any good  it will be there when it gets there - in Dollshe time.*_*

    54. @MJKKJM
I asked at the end of the month if production was on schedule since there were no pictures yet (and added on option hands) and was told that he was in production and would be posted this month. Not the most specific promise, but I didn't expect much, haha.

    55. I did!

      "Dear Agata,

Grown Saint and Bernard will be released in mid-January and we're doing our best to start shipment on schedule in February."

    56. :( I have a note that they will finish shipment before February.

    57. Dollshe told me:
"It takes 2month to produce the Grown Saint & Bermann.
After complete the doll, we’ll inform you before to start shipment"

    58. Is there really any point asking when things are going to be ready? I am as keen as anyone to see the doll I paid for with my hard-earned cash, but any estimates given are going to be a work of fiction.
