Dollshe Discussion - Part Ten

Oct 11, 2016

    1. Oh ok. Thanx I thought they put something on their blog.

    2. Yeah, I'd realized that after I posted, and went back and added in the realization.:sweat

    3. Ikr, I'm a sucker for lovely exotic faces and his in pale was too hard to resist. I want to start faceups but I have a delayed cleaning up Christmas the mess to face. I don't have a clear picture of him or name yet, but he seems ethereal or ghostly to me.

    4. I see the faceup category but when I click on 28M fashion, the return webpage says "No products were found matching your selection"

I checked again. I do see face up prices for the Classic size dolls. I have no interest in that size so I did not look there first.

Here is the link to all the face ups Dollshe offers so far
Face Up Archives - DollShe craft
Oh gosh little Rosa and Robbin are so cute!

Maybe the fact that they are showing Rey Lewis fashion size with a faceup on his sales page means they will be adding faceups to the Fashion size line. That would make for some fierce completion in the resin fashion size doll world!

    5. Hello all,

I did do the face ups on Fashion doll Rey, Erica and the Rosa. I am currently working on getting photos of Robin and Aramis.

A lot of the Fashion dolls you see on the SatoriaJ site were also done by me, not all but most.

What happened was that Mr D. sent me 6 Fashion dolls to paint, body blush (ALL the parts and extra heads) for him to have for marketing purposes. I sent those dolls back and he gave a couple/few to SatoriaJ to have for photos for the clothing they sell.

He then sent me 6 more that are my payment for my work. Those are meant to be all painted as well (I had to make wigs as well) and photos to be taken for the site. That is where the Rey and Erica (the dark haired one) shots came from.

Now the white skin/white haired Erica is the classic one that Mr D sent to me to paint for Dollshecraft. The photos I sent him were to show him progress but he ended up using them...lol she will be going back to Dollshecraft when I am finished.

I pretty much add a bunch of photos and he picks what he wants to use ^^

I am slowly trying to get them all finished but it is a lot of work and I have a full time job and well Final Fantasy XV! I also have side commissions and my own dolls I'd like to work on. I have to finish 3 more Fashion dolls to paint for photos on the site, David, Grant and Amanda. I sent him photos of Fashion doll Ausley but he has not used those as yet.

After I send him photos of Robin, Aramis and the 3 Fashion dolls and send Mr D. back his Erica, I will de done until he decides to send me more or none at all...lol

The Classic Amanda was also for Dollshecraft but I think she is also in the hands of SatoriaJ.

I have been asked by Mr D to be the face up Artist for Dollshecraft in which I was deeply honored but with my work I just could not commit. Plus I could not paint the same face up even if I tried....lol

      I hope this helps a little..lol

P.S. I have my own Classic Amanda and Erica I am dying to paint but I want to wait until I finish my current Dollshe workload! I can't wait...squee!

    6. OMG I can't image all the work you do! So fashion Rey is a example photo only? Or do you think faceups will be offered for the fashion size by Dollshe some how?

    7. Oops...!

    8. Your work is really beautiful. I looked at your Flicker photos and they are just amazing. Did you do the face up for the Ausley Love with the red dress on the Dollshe site? If you did, I have you to thank for luring me onto this slippery slope. She's the doll that I saw and couldn't get out of my mind! I now have a Fashion Ausley after debating between a fashion and a classic doll, but still have a classic Ausley on my ever-long wish list. Congratulations to you on having the recognition of your work being on a bjd site for marketing purposes! That is quite an honor, and I imagine you have helped sell a lot of dolls.

    9. @mimi100 That's funny, me too! I looked at her over and over again. Finally bought her (on the old body) and now she's my most important doll. Really wish he still made the old 26F body. But I did order Diana so I'm excited about that. I also have a Saint and an Orijean as well but none of that would have started without those pictures of Ausley.

    10. I saw that Final Fantasy XV SDink! Imho that is the most important.

    12. I am on their site now - Chrome

    13. After some extensive testing, turns out it was the coupon causing the error. So checkout but haven't paid yet, waiting to get the discount applied first. I hope the order doesn't lapse...

It was difficult, at one point I had 5 dolls in my basket *_* but the coupon not working managed to reduce them...

    14. I couldn't resist and bought a Grown Saint (70cm) in oriental. Saint will be my first male doll so it will be excting when he comes in about a year xD

On the site it's said that Saint will be on the new mystic body but on the order it's on the pose body? Is there any difference?

And how long will the sale go on? Wasn't the last day about 1-2 days ago??

    15. The sale is supposed to be over now, it ended yesterday. A lot of things are no longer on sale, but it seems some things still have the discount on them - for now at least. Could be a glitch, or could be that he's decided certain things will remain on sale. I think it's probably a glitch/oversight though, the 28M fashion are split halfish between what is and what isn't on sale.

Then again... who knows with Dollshe? :D I'm waiting to see what will happen in February, which is his promised date for a lot of things. Almost everything is supposed to be shipping by then, the "final round" of the sales before a bunch of dolls are discontinued is supposed to happen then, and fashion Robin/Rosa are supposed to happen then. That's a lot to deal with and deliver on.

    16. Has anyone have an idea what happened to the Diana release event... The event was supposed to be from 12th December to 31th December but the discount is already over and it is still 31h Dec, even in Korea. I was planning to order her in Fashion size but now that the discount seems to be over and also the event why bother as I wouldn't get the gift vampire head anymore and would have to pay more to get less. I'm so upset right now and it doesn't help the situation that I also noticed my coupon is missing so I can't use even that anymore. And as it's the weekend I won't get any answers from Dollshe before next week and it will be too late then.

    17. You should ask to have your coupon reinstated, AnnieStar. That coupon is supposed to be good through December 2017.

    18. Julie M, I had the previous coupon, the one which was supposed to be valid until the end of 2016. The coupon disappeared once before from my profile but I got it back after I asked about it. I now asked again if I could get it back, but not very optimistic it will happen this time. Also asked about the early end of Diana event. Maybe this was some universal way to tell me I shouldn't order from Dollshe again or I'll end up in the 1-year club for the second time.

    19. I hope that you are able to get your coupon back, AnnieStar. One never knows with DollShe. This has certainly been an uncommonly chaotic year, even by his standards.

    20. Well I joined the possible one year club and ordered a Grown Saint in fashion size... I'm still waiting on another order, I wonder if they'll end up being sent together.

    21. Orijean gets to play a bloody ghost until I we figure out if it sticks or something else comes along.

    22. That's an awesome look! I haven't done anything with my Orijean yet....

    23. It might have been an oversight. The only thing thats still got the sale price is the 18m mystic body.

I know my order will not be in February, since I just bought my doll. But I really hope they will send the promised dolls in that time.
Well when are the supposed dolls be discontinued? Since they are still on the site.

    24. After the February sale. If you're talking about 28M/26F/8M/6G at least, maybe some of 18M including Arsene. All of those are supposed to be discontinued after a final sale in February. We've already had rounds 1-3, the final round is due to begin on February 25th, and is limited to 50 units for each line. It looks like round 3, which started in November and is still ongoing now, may have closed for some of the lines, since 28M classic and 26F classic are listed as sold out.

He's added so many new dolls since the announcement, that it's difficult to distinguish what is and what isn't supposed to be going, so here's a list of exactly which sculpts will be discontinued I believe (in classic and in fashion):

      Arsene
      Rey Lewis
      David Kunnci
      Grant Phillipe
      King Corey
      Erica Snow
      Ausley Love
      Amanda Beauty
      Robin
      Rosa

These were the sculpts available at the time of his discontinuation announcement, so I think it's safe to say that these are the ones that are definitely intended to be discontinued. He may also discontinue Michael Bowie, Owen and Angela, given that they are also part of the lines to be discontinued.

I don't believe discontinuation affects any of the grown dolls, the celebrity dolls, or Diana.

I hope this list helps. Things have got pretty confusing, this is everything as I have understood it. I may be incorrect though, so if anyone can correct me, please go ahead.

    25. I really wouldn't agonise too much about what is and what isn't supposed to be discontinued. The threats have led to the expected panic buying in the past, but have not led to permanent discontinuation. All you can do is wait and see.

What was the latest "estimate" on the Arsenes and has anyone got one yet?

      • x 1
    26. This is what Dollshe told me on December 6th last year:
      "Your Arsene is being produced.
We assume that we can send your order in one month.
If we can keep follwing our schedule without problem, you would get that between in December."

So, obviously no December shipping. I donยดt have high hopes for January either. Somehow I am losing faith right now. I hope I will get him before I die of old age (which isnยดt that far away anymore).

    27. OK. Well, that has clearly not happened. So, apart from a couple of full sized heads going out, no one has received an Arsene. Given the January release, that means the usual one year wait from grey. We really shouldn't be surprised at this stage, but hope springs eternal that he will one day get himself sorted out. Yeah, I know, I know...

    28. I am very, very close to asking Dollshe for a refund. On the other hand there is this magical "1 year". Which will be over soon. So I guess I can wait a few weeks longer. At least I still like the doll, it hasnยดt lost its appeal for me.

    29. Mr. Dollshe's New Year's Resolution should be to send out all the dolls that were ordered in 2016 and prior. >_>

    30. I had a promise (about the 6th time Dollshe has promised shipment) that Arsene would be shipped by the end of December. I emailed them around the 26nd and asked if he was being shipped. I did not get a reply nor did he ship as Arsene is still processing.
I am very sad that this method he has of not giving reliable shipping dates continues.

    31. I won't believe anything unless he decides to break the molds of these dolls, then we will know for sure that he means business.

      • x 1
    32. I asked right after xmas and was told Jan for Arsene (and 18ms)...

    33. @derilan85 with 3D scanning and printing even breaking the molds won't stop him from trying to 'create a better' past sculpt if he wants too, but I won't buy it.
@Ashemanu I am getting at the age where I don't want to wait months (much less a year) for a new doll. I don't plan on getting any new dolls but any new purchases will be second-hand.

      • x 1
    34. Steamwitch I agree. There is really no reason in this day and age you should have to wait a year for a doll. I've been wanting to order a Grant but frankly I'm just not interested in waiting that long to get him. I'm afraid my interest will have waned by the time he'd show up. Then what? Gah! :aeyepop:

    35. I just got a shipping notice for Amanda Beauty fun size. She's already in Chicago and I ordered her October 8.

      • x 1
    36. I'm feeling Gah! right now. I'm not sure how I will feel about him when he arrives.

      • x 1
    37. congrats on Amanda shipping. It is nice to see someone getting something in a timely fashion. Just hard to predict which dolls are actually being cast at any actual time.
      The plot continues..........

    38. Thank you! I am really excited to hold her in my hands! I think I read a post on the Dollshe site they can cast 3 Classic a day and 6 fashion a day. That seem pretty slow considering the number of dolls for sale on the site.

    39. I'd love to know how souldoll cranks out beautiful doll after doll. always bringing out new sculpts.
      pretty quick to ship, too.
Soom offers a few dolls for a few days at a time, so they control their production flow, but they got into trouble
a couple years ago when their manager was gone.
it's a balancing act for sure. one Dollshe has not learned. he just wants to make new, interesting things.
and we see only a few of the sculptures he works on.

      :hollyberry

    40. I can relate to Dollshe's quest for something new all of the time. I am that way too. He's a explorer, inventor, problem solver and once he's got it figured out, he wants to try something else. He is really good and he knows what he is capable of and likes a real challenge to keep his interest. He's good at sales too because he keeps us always thinking we might loose if we don't act now! He's very clever and nonchalant. I really hope he stays in the doll business but maybe he's looking out on the horizon.

    41. If he had a bigger production company to mass produce while he explored new creations we would see a lot more dolls shipping but since he has cut back his work force (voluntarily or forced, I wonder) the problem is likely to persist. I still look forward to his new creations eagerly so he must be doing something right (mind control?)

    42. @petiteballerine - Souldoll needs approximately 5 months or longer - thatยดs not exactly fast if you compare it with companies like Iple or Soom (they never took longer for me). With Souldoll I am always expecting a real long wait. But Dollshe really hits the pan.

    43. Well, I got notice some days back that the Aramis head I ordered was ready to ship, and just got the email with the tracking info. I wasn't expecting to see the shipment until at least late Jan/early February after following this thread, but I'm excited:D.

It really does seem like there's a lot of disorganization in Dollshe's production times. :huh?: Don't know if it'll ever happen, but hopefully one day he can get things more organized.

    44. tinyseams, I agree that Mr Kim is a talented sculptor, but disagree that he is an astute businessman. Read this thread and see how many people he has disappointed and alienated with his haphazard practice. He is only still in business because he is such a good sculptor. Anything less and we would all have steered well clear years ago.

      • x 4
    45. I said he was a good salesman not a good businessman, I don't see the two as the same. I agree the casting schedule needs fixing and I think downsizing the business by increasing prices will help. I think he has a lot more going on in the background than we know. I saw it took a long time to order non-established sculpts so I avoided them. Once I see a certain sculpt being shipped out then I will take a serious interest. Maybe that is why I am not too freaked out by the talk here when I ordered my Amanda doll. I was somewhat apprehensive but it worked out.

I am sympathetic to those who have shelled out lots of cash only to wait a whole year, it sucks.

Also, many years ago, I had a good friend who sanded epoxy off his repaired sailboat and became very sick from it. He died from cancer shortly afterward so my sympathy to goes out to anyone who is sick from toxic chemical exposure.

    46. I believe he has eczema, which has many causes and provocations.

And I am not even sure he is a good salesman. How many times can you induce panic buying by holding a discontinuation sale before your customer base loses trust?

Anyway, cautiously hoping we might finally see the Arsenes this month, at least the large ones. Do we need the One Year Club badge out again?

      • x 4
      • People who ordered Arsene officially start making the one year club JAN 11 so I would say yes.

    47. Out of curiosity but Dollshe will stop production/manifacturing during the long wave of Chinese New Year Holiday? If the reply to my enquire is YES, well i think that Arsene dolls won't hit the owners till late March, am i wrong? :huh?:

    48. Yes, I want a one year badge.
@$abbatha you may have something there since it falls in January this year. Now I'm traumatized. :...(

    49. I ordered Arsene on February 6th, 2016. While I understand the frustration, too, folks, you do have a few choices here. You can just set it from you and stop angsting about it, or you can continue fretting. But if you do, do yourself a favor and refrain from ordering from DollShe again.

I don't like it any more than you do, and after all of these years, I finally have the feeling that I will hit the limits of my tolerance of bad business behaviors fairly soon, but being frustrated and sending notes doesn't get any of us anywhere.

We can't control the piss poor business practices -- but we CAN control how we react to them and what we do about our frustration.

    50. Julie, I think Mr Kim needs to read how his long time customers are feeling. GREATLY DISAPPOINTED.
Yes, I have told Mr. Kim that this is my last doll although it saddens me greatly. I am in my 70's and although none of us know when our life ends I can tell you that I become more sensitive to the grim reaper each year I add.
And I believe it is only Dollshe that has this habit of year waits for shipments. And as I said - when I started ordering from Dollshe (maybe 2012) for some reason he had his shipping schedule better organized. I was only waiting 4-6 months.
Also, it is the promises that he keeps making - it would be so much nicer to be honest with your customers. He needs to remove that false promise of a 3 month wait on the web site ASAP. Be honest with your customers and for those of us who have had months of promises - I think we have the right to express our disappointment.

    51. I can understand waiting for one year for doll who is being made and adjusted etc. But waiting 6 months for doll they already sell for many years.. Thats crazy. Why Amandas and Davids and such can be shipped within two to three months but old Saint cant?

    52. @margitan I think it's supposed to be something to do with casting in batches. I think it's easier or more efficient (in terms of mold-use) to cast in waves of a certain amount, rather than cast every doll individually once the order comes in. Or at least that's the impression I got from one of his posts about it - that they wait for a minimum order number before casting.

That said, I'm sure the Old 18M sale would have ensured a minimum order for any of the sculpts, they all seem to be quite popular...

    53. Notice that limited dolls, order made bjd and bubblebat Molly all excluded. So that doesn't really leave much, now, does it?

    54. Jo, I understand you entirely. I am in my late 50s and recently lost my dad. I purchased my first DollShe doll in 2005. I, too, am profoundly disappointed in his business practices which have, if anything, become much worse over the years rather than better. And certainly, it can be therapeutic to vent annoyance. However, annoyance and downright angst are two very different things. I am simply saying that it is either better to vent, get it over with, and let it go until -- miracle of miracles -- the doll one ordered eons ago suddenly arrives, or resolve not to put oneself in that position again. Right? Draw the wound and let the poison out.

    55. I agree @Julie M I'm 65 (in excellent health thank goodness) and didn't realize that I could/would join the 1 year club. I was shocked that I got the August pure body so fast after I asked for a refund. I'm too far in on Arsene so I will wait. My complaining will end and I will cheer on every new arrival, but I won't order from them again.

      • x 1
    56. I didn't get an e-mail about the extension of the 30% thing for some reason. Had to navigate to the site on my phone because my work computer keeps bombing out when trying to connect to it. The mobile Dollshe site is a pain, at least for me, kinda clunky and impossible to get at all the menus in one accessible central location. But anyway, apparently they had to increase staff to fulfill the holiday orders? Ho boy, I wish them luck in cutting back like Mr. Dollshe said he wanted to later on this year.

    57. But what is meant by the "limited dolls" anyway? The 28Ms and 26Fs have the big Limited stickers on them, but the only one with the word "limited" in his link is Vampire Khan, who is also the only one that shows up within the category of "Limited Edition Classic".
