Dollshe Discussion - Part Seven

Jul 23, 2015

    1. @zekarmisama Body freckling is the best! Body blushing is pretty easy; just start light. :3

I need to get around to blushing Ronan as well. Pale dolls always seem odd with faceups but no blushing.

    2. Ah Ronan, you gorgeous boy! :)

    3. I started on the body blushing today. Areola are troublesome. But I love freckles.

    4. That looks really good!

    5. Ooh that does look good! :)

    6. Hi guys, just popping in to ask if anyone knows what size eyes are best for the SD Rey Lewis?

    7. SartoriaJ have some beautiful new clothes for the 28Ms in their Etsy shop; a black suit, a grey suit and a Victorian ensemble. I will also post in the "What fits" threaad, as it is great to finally have something in their size.

    8. Oh man I gotta get me one of those sometime. *_*

Aaaaaahhhhhhh I blushed Az more and only like five seconds later, I scratched his shoulder. oTL

Now to sew him some pink dress shirts because I always miss a spot when spraying sealant and will probably wreck a white shirt.

    9. Thorne and Thistle together in Thorne's nightmare. Thorne is a bounty hunter and Thistle is his prey. He never seems to be able to catch the guy and then there he is.

    10. @MadamMauMau - Ooh lovely! It's a pity Ragnar detests suits...perhaps I should get a Grant purely for the purpose of dressing him up in lovely suits. Thank you for sharing the link!

@zekarmisama - I did that with the scar on Ragnar's torso the moment I moved the joint once I put him back together. :sigh So don't worry, you're not alone. Az looks super cute with all those freckles!

@SteamWitch - Ooh cool! Thorne's the one on the left correct?

    11. Yes, That's Thorne on the left. Thistle is kind of an enigma at the moment, not sure if he is just a sleepy Thorne because he seems to want a personality of his own. Only time will tell. I made a really crude/terribly bad/ headback for Thistle to put on Hunter's body.
      Even Thorne is confused, lol

    12. Hahaha, that's cute!

    13. Just got this note from Dollshe, frustratingly typical.

We are currently making the silicon mold for Arsene.
As both 28M Pose Plus body and Arsene are being released around the same time, we are working on both dolls at the same time so the production time is being delayed. We apologize for the long wait.
We will update you the detail in April.

      April...

    14. But what about those of us with 35s's? That's really hard to shop for. I can't even get Freedom Teller to make something for me....waaah!

    15. I have not been up on this thread for awhile but has anyone heard anything about 35cm Rosa and Robin? The last I heard from Dollshe - first part of April...but my order shows still processing. (over 6 months now).

Madam Mau Mau - love the suit.

    16. According to the last update I got from Dollshe, the Rosa and Robin and the 28m Pose Plus body are both being worked on and supposed to be "ready" in April or May. I still expect it to be more likely to get my King Corey this Autum. But who knows, maybe they are about to turn a new leaf.

    17. @Therealwalter yes, I assumed I wouldn't see Arsene until May at the earliest, (for the same reason) unlike the promise of March mentioned in the news release.

    18. It's been six months already on the children. Why are we always disappointed? We know how this goes by now.

I have a mini Arsene on layaway and don't expect to see him until the autumn, which is fine.

I've got one of those SartoriaJ Victorian suits coming in. I will get a raft of pictures when it arrives. And Dollhausen, I suspect the 35 was never popular enough for anyone to make clothes for it. You might have to commission stuff.

    19. Actually, for awhile Dollshe was getting items out in 2-3 months. That was around the time I purchased my first Dollshe doll. Friends told me to expect to wait a year and yet I placed a few orders with much faster turnaround. I do think it would behoove
them to post more realistic wait times. If I am designing a kitchen for someone and promise I will have all my CAD drawings completed for them in a week but then I put them off for 2 months - how many customers do you think I would keep?

    20. He can get things out quickly. It just doesn't usually happen, particularly with a new sculpt. I suspect it is a combination of perfectionism and plain old poor workload management. Incredibly, and because of the beauty of the dolls, he maintains a loyal fan base. But we do get pretty damned frustrated on occasion. We are only human.

    21. I wasn't sure where to ask this, but I figured this might be the best place.

Does anyone have experience with Copper Oriental turning green? I took my Husky to a meet, where the sun ended up shining on the dolls for a few hours. Once home, I noticed part of his shoulder and back had turned greenish, though not the parts of his arms that would have also been in the sun. He's only three months old and was perfect that morning. My Pale Tan Rosen took years to start turning green, even with sun exposure, so I was kind of surprised (though I figured he would green some eventually).
Has anyone else had this problem?

    22. Damn, @LupusDarkmoon. That is bad news. I can't comment on Copper Oriental, as I don't have any. However, my old realskin Iplehouse Akando greened from an afternoon in weak sun, too. I could tell it was from then as the pattern of greening matched the areas exposed on that day.

As a solution, you can lightly dust a little red pastel on the greened areas and seal them. The green is because the red pigment has faded. Dusting some red pastel on effectively replaces it and counteracts the green.

      Good luck!

    23. That's a bit concerning @LupusDarkmoon. I have a Saint in copper oriental. He's about a year and a half old now and I've not noticed any greening, though I haven't kept him in direct sunlight for more than a few minutes at a time.

    24. I have a Van in Copper Oriental as well - I haven't noticed anything myself; though he is always wearing long sleeves, and legs/feet are always covered up, and he hasn't been in direct sunlight for long, if at all. He does have his face and neck uncovered though, so I assume if he were to green anywhere, it would show up there.

How old is your Husky @LupusDarkmoon ? My Van is from early 2015

    25. I need help with the authentication cards, I have a Bernard and two Aramis and I've accidentally gotten the cards mixed up. How do I figure out which card goes to which head/body? I'm assuming the white card is for the body (I only have one DS body)..? It says there is a BI tag on the back of the head, but the headback just says Dollshe on it.

I saw this on the website, but it doesn't give any information on where to type in the numbers. (Or do I email?)

I'm sorry, I'm just so confused.

    26. @LupusDarkmoon I am so, so sorry that happened to you. I have an old head from another company that I pastel matched to be less greeny/yellow and it did work beautifully. I wish you luck in recovering his color.

    27. Thanks so much everyone. I'll definitely try the blushing @MadamMauMau suggested. He'll also have tattoos, so I can probably cover some of it with one.

@AirimirOfGondor he's only 3 months old, arrived January of this year. I'm hoping I can get a good enough picture of it because I plan to ask Dollshe about it. Every company yellowing/greening test I've seen it has taken much longer for tan to green, so I almost wonder if he's from an unstable batch. I really just want to find out if it's normal for that color to green so quickly in the sun. It's a good thing his character isn't that interested in the outdoors...

    28. Does anyone have any boys in modern grey or Orijeans they could show me/cheer me up with? I'm going in to month 7 with no shipping notice and I'm starting to lose hope u__u

    29. Let us know what he says as, if the red pigment is fading fast from the Copper Oriental, it will also fade from all other colours that have red in them.. *Throws a black cloth over growing pile of Dollshes*.

    30. Yea, if he's that young, I would definitely ask Dollshe. I have never heard of them greening that fast if they are from a stable batch.

    31. @LupusDarkmoon Just be aware that Dollshe plainly states on their website that the dolls should not be left in full sun for any length of time.

    32. I will let you guys know what they say. Took pictures of it last night, so I'm hoping they turned out okay.

Oh, I know. It's just disappointing and seems like it happened in a ridiculous amount of time (especially since my Pale Tan boy took years to green, even with sunlight exposure). This is the only tan doll I've owned that has turned green so fast, and it wasn't even on all the places the sun touched.

They also mention a yellowing test on the website, on the page with the different colors, though I didn't find any picture results. It said after a month there was minimal change (testing honey and pure), so I would think 3 hours shouldn't have done much damage. I think I'll also ask them about that test, since I know that information is old as it has been up for a while.

    33. Ouch. I thought he'd caught up with the standard boys. Maybe send a quick email and see what he says?? 7 months isn't that weird though. I waited about 6 months for Erica Snow. Folks waiting on the fashion dolls were a year in before they shipped.

    34. Has anyone got recently in touch with DollShe? I've written them an i never got a reply in an entire week..

    35. Well, I do know that I got an email from Dollshe, about how they were no longer going to cast dolls for artists. They are apparently backed up as they had a pretty large number of artists working with them. If they were as swamped as it seemed, I would not be surprised in the least if they were behind with emails/Q&A board too.

    36. @AirimirOfGondor thanks so much for the informations, i will not write them again cause i guess that if they are swamped as you said, it's better to wait patiently till i get a reply from them.

    37. I would definitely think, if they don't get back to you by the beginning of next week, it might still be OK to email them again (or write on the board again). There is always the chance that they just missed your message! :)

    38. wait what??? :aeyepop: I was just talking with them last month about their casting services and just have to finalize the sculpts and make the masters to move the process along? hope there's some sort of grandfather clause!! :(

    39. They said artists whom they'd been working with in the past can still get casting services done or have their master copies sent back instead. That might include yourself but I don't know how far along in the process you'd have to be for them to count it. @_@

I'll send him another email, then. I sent one back in February and was told "next month" but that came and went pretty quick. They've always been fairly decent on order times with their standard boys, but according to DOA's waiting room at least, I'm the only one left who hasn't gotten their standard yet. u__u

    40. Thanks @Zest for the details! That's good they're not completely stopping the service. Whew. Hopefully, the start of any process counts as the sculpt revisions/adjustments to fit their requirements has been patience testing. :-P Does give me much greater appreciation for their dolls though and I'm now much less impatient about Arsene's arrival than when I was waiting for the first fashions order. Anyway, hope you get your standard boy soon!!

    41. @AirimirOfGondor i got finally a reply from DollShe, they told me that for some unknown reasons they never got my messages..:|
I guess that something isn't working properly onto DollShe web site. Thanks so much for the help anyway.:)
