He's impressive! As for the eyes: I don't think they're too big. His eyes are half closed, after all.
chizzie_shark such a handsome young man! I like the color choice and overall style very much. And wish you luck with choosing his name, for me it's really difficult part. MadamMauMau congratulations!))) He's very impressive. Cold, arrogant, self-centered and very strong-willed, as it seems to me.))) Forgive me if I misinterpreted. I didn't notice any unusual roughness, by the way. I have 4 dolls, made by Dollshe factory, and all of them have the same slightly rough surface. Maybe I'm just not so high -tactile person. Ah, and Walter:
You know how much I love Walter. He is the one who tipped me over to the Kuncci side. I have two other Dollshes from about 2008 and neither had that roughness. The only other time I have encountered it is in self-cast artist dolls, where I suppose it would be expected. Not a biggy but, as has been said in the main Dollshe thread, these cost so much compared to other dolls the same size that our expectations of quality are similarly high. And that is fairly close to his character. Certainly strong and powerful, but not cold. Fiercely protective of those he loves (he is the Ringmaster of my circus world. The patriarch of the troupe), but that sometimes unknowingly drifts over into being controlling. I will take a photo of him with his husband, once I have figured out how to enlarge his wedding ring so that it fits his new, super-sized fingers (his previous resincarnation was a Dollmore Model). I put this in the main Dollshe thread, but have it here. In his new Freedom Teller suit. And smaller wig. Much better fit.
MadamMauMau Wow, I'm flattered, really! Thank you! I see, he is The Master all right!))) Such a pose! And FT fits well. Will wait for the pictures, especially with the husband (if I'm not mistaken, it's Palladino, my favorite Bernard ever?). About roughness. No, it begun in 2010, when Dollshe opened his own production. My doll from 2010 was already with this surface structure. But I always took it as some improvement, it looks like real human skin. But I don't make the face-ups for my dolls, maybe that's why we see it from opposite points of view))) And sorry for my English, I know it's faaar from sufficient.
Séverin looks fantastic -- I love that relaxed, slouchy-but-commanding pose you've coaxed him into. He looks amazing in that suit! I'm amused at the coincidence of you mentioning him -- I had never heard of Charles Dance until recently (apparently, his productions weren't among the BBC pieces that made it across the Atlantic), but Lovely English Girlfriend LucyBond is very enamored of him, especially his performance as the Phantom of the Opera. She exacted a promise from me to sit down and watch his version sometime (which reminds me, we still need to do that!) Very much hope that my next visit will allow us to get together (and I promise to have a bit more notice, next time -- this trip was almost spur-of-the-moment, because I'd been waiting until Kira was medically sorted out and settled in school, and then bought the next ticket over!) 'Til then, I'll keep happily making admiring noises at your splendid Nachtzirkus crew! -- A
But...but...but, Games of Thrones. Isn't that as huge over there as it is here? I don't watch it myself, but I know he is in it. As I say, a dashing chap. And I managed to enlarge the wedding ring, by forcing it onto the shaft of a biro (which is the same width as a 29M's knuckles, for any others who need to know). I have glued the damned thing onto his damned finger as, when it is big enough to slip over his knuckles, it is too loose on his finger. There's commitment for you. XD And, yes, be great to meet up at some point.
I haven't been watching it -- I've read most of the books in the series, but found them more and more tedious (loved the first two, but my regard has been sinking ever since.) I don't watch much TV, so I'd rather hold out for something that isn't super-violent and depressing (since real life has been hard enough for the last couple of years, I'm going for entertainment choices that don't drag me down -- although the US version of "The Borgias," with Jeremy Irons as Rodrigo Borgia, is worth it!) I'm waiting 'til the series ends, so that I can see whether people were delighted or disappointed, before contemplating taking on the TV series *or* reading past "A Feast For Crows" -- the last couple of books were a letdown, so I'm holding out to see if it finishes well. That's wonderful that you were able to get his ring enlarged -- and gluing it on is probably a wise precaution! (Besides, he seems thoroughly committed, and I believe that both he and his charming husband would approve.) Can't wait to see more of him!! -- A (probably coming over sometime in spring, but I'll keep you posted!)
I asked a few questions on the other Dollshe thread. I did not know about this one. For those on both, I just never paid any attention to these dolls, never new about them and all of a sudden I love the 28m dolls! One question I asked on the other thread was about Freedom Teller clothes 70m size and it looks like they fit these guys. I even wrote FT and left them the meassurements to make sure. Now my real question is something that was mentioned on the previous page and that was about the roughness of the Dollshe resin. So which one is smoother, the honey or the pure? I plan to order Grant in 2015 and want to get everything set up. Thank you for your help!
dollswest, The Freedom Teller EID model size clothing fits the Dollshe 28 guys pretty well. Freedom Teller is supposed to start doing clothing sized specifically for the Dollshe 28 size. The last 2 LE sets they did (Javier and Jean Valjean), you could choose Dollshe 28 size as an option. I'm guessing that means if you email them and request that you would like something made specifically to fit the Dollshe 28 body that they would accomodate you, but you could post a message on their Q&A board to ask. I have used the EID model sized clothing on my guys so far and for the most part it works.
We have a whole thread on what fits the 28Ms. If anyone has any other finds to add, do stick it in there. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?630332-Dollshe-28M-fashion-show-What-fits
Thank you for the info on the clothes. I did write FT and gave them the size of the Dollshe 28m. They have made me custom clothes for my Iplehouse nYID so I know they are very accomodating. Love their stuff and I do sew. Just not that fond of tailoring men's things. I will knit for them, but sew...well. Anyway, my other concern..the rough resin on these guys. Which is the best one, honey or pure to order? I want to order one, probably Grant, after the first of the year. Thank you again!
I ordered the pure, and I should be getting my Grant in the mail sometime next week. I'll post blank pics if that will help with the resin questions. :3
dollswest I've got a David head in Honey resin as well as a Saint in Pure resin and to me there doesn't really seem to be a difference in the roughness of the resins, though I suppose if I had to be picky about it I'd say the Honey resin is only very slightly rougher. Both are still beautiful quality.
Oh gosh, he's amazing JinCIncy. Love that wig! Grant here can't seem to keep his shirt on. XD grant by 木漏れ日, on Flickr
Woah! That is one epic outfit! He's stunning JinCIncy! rianne - with a body like that I don't think he really needs a shirt...
JinCIncy- Dang. Great outfit. He's got an Anne Rice vampire vibe to him. rianne- I'm with Quiet and Insane here. With a body that nice, no shirt is needed! Beautiful faceup.
Haha, you guys are awesome! These 28m abs are a thing of beauty. Managed to get the shirt on but not buttoned. XD grant by 木漏れ日, on Flickr
You probably already know but I was reading this thread to find out if an Iplehouse head would fit well on a Dollshe body and I saw your comment. Dollshe have recently released a smaller size of both David and Grant, as well as Amanda and Ausley. And they're on sale! For another few days anyway. The boys are 44cm and the girls 41cm. So I just thought I would you know...
rianne - They are indeed. Dammit. Now I feel a mighty need to get a Grant. But I still need to buy my David a body. D: Why does money not grow on trees?
Sorry for interrupting you so late but, the Iplehouse EID body you have, is it a Super Hero EID body or a Model EID type? I couldn't find that information back in your pictures >-<
Oooh, forgot to add the picture I took of my three Dollshe boys; Séverin, his cousin Demian and his husband Palladino. Very different styles of face, but just similar enough to work together. But, yes, the new, realistic sculpting style is starting to make the classic sculpts look old-fashioned. Saint and Bernard still remain two of my favourite BJD sculpts of all time, though. And I am a fussy bugger.
No worries! It's an old-style Model body. If you're wanting to put a David or Grant head on an EID body, the newer Model body is slimmer and the head might not look so disproportionate. I've put a newer Model body on order, so when that comes (in a few months' time) I can take photos, if you're still interested.
Mitya6 Really like your Walter! JinCIncy Your man is aristocrat as always! rianne Very interesting make
I've only ever handled a David head, but I don't think it would work. Aside from the huge difference in neck circumference, the David head is big enough to fit like a creepy helmet over any Super Gem head. The proportions are just too different.
I am also going with no. I tried it on a classic Dollshe body, which has broader shoulders than the SG body, and it was a big nope. It is a pretty big head. It just doesn't look it on that beefy 28M body.
Hey been a long while since i postedon DoA. After waiting for a long time David has arrived, i have yet to unbox him due to exams, but I'll be doing it over the next few days. My main question is where can i start looking for clothes for him.
We have a thread here for findings. Do feel free to add any discoveries you make. Dollshe 28M fashion show - What fits? | Den of Angels
Joining this thread because Rey Lewis just captivated every piece of me. But I think I won't be seeing him in months. Still, I wanna see your glorious 28m dolls!
thanks for the link. on impluse i went and bought him iplehouse stuff, seemed to fit really well, now looking @ shoes
David and Grant Philippe are awaiting the arrival of Rey Lewis. I, too (from long experience) fear that he will be quite a while longer. Still, that might give me time to finish the Regency and Victorian suits I've got going for these young men.... I will post pictures once I have Grant Philippe (who has only just arrived home from Helene, in Australia) dressed.
^____^ love seeing all the 28 M boys! this is Heathcliff, my Dollshe David getting ready to do a photo shoot with one of my BJD headdresses. in this case a bloody deer headdress for a berserk ceremony.....
You know, I think this is the first time I've ever looked at Heathcliff's eyes close up - they're such a pretty colour!
Saint is one of the discontinued sculpts so for now it is "permanently" sold out. Which is Dollshe speak for probably will be available again but at random intervals. You can find out if any are available now by emailing Dollshe directly at . We are not supposed to give prices on the discussion threads, and Dollshe prices fluctuate a lot due to frequent discount promotions, plus this thread is for the 28m line not the 18m line which is what Saint is. And Dollshe dolls can very by several hundred dollars depending on the different colors of resins they offer.
Popping in to say my Kuncci arrived at his aesthetician a couple of weeks ago for face and body blushing. Phase I complete. For those who were tracking order-to-shipment time, He was ordered July 27 on layaway at the tail end of that big clearance sale of the old body, and shipped New Year's Eve.
I will soon be the proud owner of my grail doll David Kuncci, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what size shoes I would need to buy for him. I always make sure my resin family have warm feet But I have no idea what shoes will fit him. Dollshe's website is very confusing to me so I thought I would ask the people that would know..... This forum
@OneDoll4Now, we have a "what fits" thread here. If you make any other discoveries, please do add them. And congrats!
So, here's my life story. When I first discovered BJDs a year or two ago, Dollshe was one of the first companies that I found, and it's hard not to fall in love with those boys, but after considering it for a while I decided to go more in the fantasy direction, and also more in the skinny as a rail direction, and then it fell off my radar. But I was reminded of it, and noooow I'm kind of thrilled with King Corey. But I don't know about the pose or pose plus body. From the photos, I feel like the difference in appearance is really large, the pose looks so nice and sleek, the extra pose plus joints really cut it up; and it is really important to me that he look good unclothed. But it's also super obvious that the pose plus adds a loooot of posability, and it's really quite unique in it's capabilities. So what do you guys think about the pros and cons? Also, someone above just said the price of the dolls varies wildly and there are lots of events and discounts -- It seeeeems there's an event going on right now? Is now a good time to get one? And is it actually still the case that if I buy him now I will also get all those hands and feet? Or it that over? Mixed messages on the web page there. Thanks guys!
The 28M body is so darned heavy I'm curious how well the new more jointed version poses in practice. I'm pretty happy with the old 28M body. It does enough poses for me. My dolls aren't really action heroes or anything. Just 1920s college freshies laying around smoking, getting drunk, and rowing boats....... well, less rowing because I'm not gonna buy another 7 dolls to fill in the coxed 8 they have in the story hahaha.
Whether you go for the body with the minimal cuts or the body with enhanced posing is a matter of personal priorities. I find the standard body limited in its fleixibility, so I would go with Pose +. But that's me. And the listing for King Corey says composition is. OE Head + Body + Hand parts for clothes change purpose + Resting Hands + Smoking Hands + Holding Glass Hands + Hands placed around the waist + Comfortable Feet + Flip Fop Feet There isn't an event on atm. He is at full price. Or perhaps the event is the inclusion of the extra hands and feet. I lose track.
King Corey is currently at full price as Max says and is a full package with the extra hands but only one head as he has no SA version. I am banking on the Pose Plus being as great a poser as the promo pictures so have 2 on order. Pose plus is still under production which means God only knows when he will actually be ready to ship. Of course the company says it will be ready " in 2 months". Now is that 2 months from last December or 2 months from next September?
It really depends on how much pose-ability you'd like your guy to have. I have a David on the regular 28M body and he tends to do a lot of standing around scowling at people (oh yeah I gave him a new face up which I'll have to share at some point, but I digress). When he sits, he leans back a lot. Almost at a 45 degree angle depending on the pants. That's another thing, his large member creates issues when sitting in pants. When he's nude he'll sit quite well, but having a doll hanging around in the nude 24/7 might not be everyone's cup of tea.
Thanks guys for your advice! I didn't realize nobody had the pose plus yet. Yeah, I saw that it said that about the package, but also in the same section it says that the event ended already or something, so I didn't know what that meant. Ahaha, unexpected problem. Maybe Doll Chateau's jointed business down there is useful after all.
The removable and jointed genitals do increase pants options especially sitting, but the 28m is one of the most beautiful mature male bodies in existence IMO.
OK, I have just placed my order for a Rey Lewis with Pose Plus body in Copper Oriental....*phew* Only got a little Rey only a couple of days ago, but that was it...knew that a big guy had to come home too. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for the serious enabling and drool worthy pictures in this threads
@Marjie - I have a RingDoll guy with jointed bits, and he sits incredibly well thanks to that. @Therealwalter - I totally agree with you! @StrontiumDog - Ooh, congratulations! New face up for Ragnar (I'm pretty pleased with this second attempt, but it's still far from perfect): IMG_8437 by Liz, on Flickr
Ragnar is looking ruggedly hansome. Me likey. And I love the braided hair. I am still struggling to tame the wild flybies on the Mongolian sheepskin wigs I tried to make. Do you have any hair care products you used or just talented?
Why thank you! Hah, talented? No, I just used a lot of the Sea Spray hair mist from Lush...I did use regular hairspray and the wig ended up oddly shiny. I figured I'd give the Lush spray a go given the fact it's the closest to going out on a sea voyage he'll ever get. (I do not like boats in the slightest).
Thank you Quiet and Insane. I see Dollshe are now offering us the option of different combinations of Pose and Pose+...they're calling it L1, L2, L3 and L4. At first I wasn't too sure about the joint at the base of the neck on the Pose+ body and wondered if Dollshe would let me swap the upper torso for the regular Pose version. Think they might be open to doing that now. What do owners of the current Pose body think about the mobility of the head? I know it's not brilliant on my little Rey..is it similar on the 70cm guys? Ragnar does indeed look great. Like the look of his Celtic tatts
Wow so many options. Hummm, I actually wish I could get the neck joint but not the hip joint. No luck on that account.
