Dolls you love that you missed out on?

AlisonVonderland, I remember when the disaster of nDoll folding happened. I think it was maybe 2011 or 2012, I'm not sure.

But, I was just about to order an nDoll Aki. I had debated and debated with myself, and finally when I decided to get him, nDoll crashed and burned. I felt so bad for everyone who was adversely affected by their sudden disappearance.

Even after all this time, I still think of that boy to this day, and wish I'd been able to get him when I had the chance.

 

CP/Luts Dark Elf Soo. The first doll I ever wanted in high school, and one that I thought I was done with after three years of pining, taste changing, and many more years of other things taking up my focus. But recently I started looking at photos again, and dammit… Something about her still has a hold on me. I’m considering putting out a “want to buy,” but there are so many for old CP Delf dolls; I don’t know if I would get a bite.

- Luts Kid Delf Ani
Kid Delf Ani from Luts was the first doll I ever wanted. It was the doll what got me into this hobby. Luts is still selling Ani but they have little bit change it, I would really like to have the old one what I missed on.

- Marmite sue/ Resin Menagerie Dentelle
I love the Dentelle doll, but those are not sold anymore. I even participated on a contest to win one but I was not lucky enough to get one

- Triffony art work Sphinx

- Peaks woods FOF Rabbit Goon

- Luts Kid Delf BORY UNICORN CENTAUR ver. - MOONLIT SONG Limited version.

I would love to have these but most likely never will but I can still dream

 

I just purchased a doll that I loved from the moment I saw him when he was released in November 2019; RingDoll Ksitigarbha-The Virgo. RD had 2 in stock (sleeping head) with the default face-up as part of their Black Friday event and he was 45% off! He is my only Xmas present this year and I'm totally fine with that. 5 years isn't the longest I've waited to catch a doll I missed out on (7 years for both Impl Miguel The Demon Hunter and Unidoll Ark) but I'm very excited to have finally purchased him.

 

Several:
Dream Valley Qing 60 cm girl in her assassin outfit. When she was re-released, I should have gotten her and 3D printed those swords. Now, she's gone forever...
Impldoll White and Black Alberta. I'm not too sad, because she is fairly similar to other Impldoll sculpts I already own (Leona, Sicily, Lydia), but still. I loved that face.
And then there are the companies that went out of business before I started collecting. The big one for me right now is Light Limner. I found a secondhand head, bought it on a whim, and OMG. OH MY HEAVENS. Stunning, beautiful sculpting. Absolutely 100 percent my aesthetic. And now available on the secondhand marketplace only. Man, I wish someone would bring those dolls back.

 

@MaleficentMrsofEvil Isn't Light Limner the old name of R.Dean (Fulled Heaven x Sealed Heaven)? She's still going!!!!

 

Oooooh. Looks like she doesn't make girls anymore, which is too bad. I love those severe cheekbones.

The one I'm most upset about is DC Jodie. I ordered him from DC (through their site) and got confirmation and an estimated production time, and THEN they suddenly told me he was discontinued. I was so upset... They gave me most of my money back (not a refund, but a payment, so I ended up having to pay the PP fees - to add insult to injury) but only after pestering me for days about accepting a replacment doll instead...
I've been trying to find one second-hand ever since, but no such luck.

 

That's such a bummer. They should have definitely finished their pending orders regardless of discontinuations.

I don't really feel I missed out and I accepted it, but I had DC Gladys fullset on my "one day" wishlist, and one day she was gone. Still I understood that dolls don't wait forever.

 

Doll Family-A Aoli and Maggie.
They popped up on BJDCollectasy and Alice's Collections one day, stole my heart and then, after a short time, just disappeared from everywhere including the official website without further notice.
I had both of them on the top of my priority list.
What a bummer. They were supposed to be my first BJDs.

 

I would have to say a noble dolls raspberry because I was going on hiatus from bjds when I discovered them then there was all the drama I missed when I came back and now I cannot get one for the life of me. I also wanted a villitunes but they are seeped out in drama as well.

 

I've missed out on souldoll linsey and Dollzone Feather Fox last year, waited too long for a lot of reasons, and just remembered them when both order periods was over. was really bummed that I've had missed them, and have been looking for them ever since..Lucky me, Last week the fox head came for sale second hand, he is now on the way to me and linsey that I thought would never get, just got her on layaway from DDE. - so im glad is missed out, because I then found out how much I wanted the dolls.

 

Hujoo Freyr and Freya were some of my first BJD wants, but I was unable to get them... I've also missed two DollZone Yin Long releases, and despite being out of my doll budget at both times my heart hurts knowing I missed him twice!!!

 

I had two heads that came out before I started collecting that were love at first sight. DiM Fenris (from dragon age 2), and Doll Chateau Dennis. I never expected to get my hands on either of them, but put want to buy posts up on this forum just for the off chance that I'd get lucky.

I brought Fenris home earlier this year, and Dennis is on his way to me as I type this. They were the closest things I've ever had to grails, and I'm so so excited that they get to be part of my collection!

 

I didn't know there was a Fenris doll head. Thats cool.

Chiwoo for me. Any of the sizes. Just didn’t have the money back then. He still calls to me but I can’t find him anywhere. I would really like to own a Minifee Chiwoo someday.

 

Irrealdoll Ringo I love Irrealdoll's aesthetic but all of their more recent dolls are way too small for my taste. I love Nur too, but I really can't stand single jointed bodies... Ringo was nice because it was just a head so I could just choose a more articulated body.

I've only seen 1 on the secondhand market though, and at the time I held off because I thought it was "too expensive" at like $200. Now I'd happily pay that price for one

 

I actually owned Hujoo Albu and had to sell him at one point for funds :,( I miss him dearly and want him back!

 

Dollfamily-H Plume... She was the last addition to their 1/5 line and none of the shops I frequent carried her, so I learnt about her way after they had already cancelled their whole 1/5 line
I doubt I'll ever even see her for sale 2nd hand, since the 1/5 size isn't very popular and I'm not sure she was ever for sale on any 'global' shops. (Can't be sure though, she was released just as I was getting back into the hobby and wasn't actively window shopping like I am nowadays)

 

Fairyland PukuPuki line. The size and head sculpts available were so cute! It's a shame that when I finally plan to get one, they have already discontinued the basic line and has been gone ever since.

Adding also to the mix are the first releases of Soom monthly dorries such as Beryl and Onyx.

 

I hope you find Phoenix. I have Blue Blood Draven

 

There's a lot, but I think the biggest ones for me are Volks Lieselotte, Charlotte, and Lucia from the 2021 A/W preorders, and the Pink House Yumepi in particular (BtSSB release is cute, but makeup doesn't fit my collection.)
I see them all secondhand from time to time, but the prices are so much higher than the original releases that I still kick myself.

 

For me probably Luts Delf tan Chiwoo

 

I keep looking at the display listing for DollZone YanYan and regretting every day I didn't get her.

 

I didn’t think I really had one of these, but alas, I definitely do. For me it’s PathosTale Pan. I didn’t get her because money was limited, and I thought her face looked a little young, but those big beautiful horns? The hooves? I’ve literally never seen her for sale secondhand either—the people that have her are the people that want to keep having her haha.

To a lesser extent, doll chateau Kevin/Zenobia (I owned a Zenobia, but I sold her and only kept the wings, which, to be fair, are the parts I really wanted). Doll chateau Mephisto.Pheles also has amazing horns and doesn’t seem to come up secondhand. And the engraved bodies—Christina and I think it was Dolores’s bodies—also would be perfect for a character, but I didn’t get them while I had the chance!

 

Dollzone black rabbit and white rabbit. I've never fallen in love with a doll faster. I only saw them after the order period had closed

 

The one that immediately comes to mind is Elfdoll Hazy. I actually saw one a year or two ago on Doll Peddlar, but I couldn't buy her. Instead, I just kept looking at her page until one day it was gone. </3

 

My big miss was a relatively recent one, Dream Valley's Apocalypse Horseman. I'd been on a doll hiatus that entire year and hadn't been checking what companies were releasing. I didn't find out about it until almost a full year later. I keep hoping they'll release him again since they've released past sculpts more than once but it hasn't happened yet.

The only other really big one for me had been Souldoll Harace who got discontinued between when I found out about BJD's and when I actually entered the hobby, but I was able to find him second hand eventually.

It's Dream of Doll Ducan, Dream of Doll Ives, Dream of Doll Code 2 .... and later Doll Chateau Lance and Dream Valley Athos for me.
In all cases I was terribly broke at those times and couldn't even do it with Layaway.

I regret that I never thought of getting just the heads of Lance and Athos back then, at least. That would have been manageable. Meh.

 

Sartoriaj Jude in msd size!!! He was available for ages before he was discontinued but I was being sensible with money and didn’t get him and then suddenly he was gone!!! I do regret that one. Unfortunately that has lead to me impulse buying other limited dolls - mainly Sartoriaj - as I’ve been afraid of missing out again! So I’ve resolved to get that under control. I still wish I’d got Jude though!

 

Man the souldoll souloids, especially Walter, are forever the ones that got away. I haven't even seen one on the second-hand market for years.
