Dolls Party in Volks USA Website

OK, here's what you do! You take that $400 you would've otherwise spent on airfare, and you go buy yourself a nice used laptop with WinXP or MacOS on it! Just for those little rare occasions when, y'know, performance actually matters and Vista just gets in the way.... :P

Maybe the problem is all the freeware/shareware that came on your laptop? My laptop has vista premium and in honesty it works just as well as xp did for me. It runs super fast and can play most video games with no problem. Those it can not play is due to my graphics card and not vista. As for internet, my internet connection and speed has never been affected by vista. Of course, many people do not like vista so maybe it just doesn't work for you. Either way I hope you find an answer to your problem and are able to enjoy the event. ^_^

 

Also, if you use IE: first thing, go into IE's options, and turn OFF the Phishing Filter. As soon as you do, your Intarweb should magically seem to run faster. Phishing Filter is mostly useless & slows everything down.

I didn't wanna drag us too far offtopic either, but NabeeRain is also right-- if your computer is brand-new, you're probably running a ton of free crap you don't need or want. Dolpa-hindering free crap! Nyeh. (I work with all flavors of Macs & PCs every day here in the QA lab; they're all annoying in their own ways, but so far Vista wins the prize. :P)

 

RE: *groans* Vista! I really hate Vista. :p You know, Dell sells laptops where you can request Windows XP. In fact, the very laptop that I'm currently using, as I'm typing my post here, was purchased back in May of this year in Windows XP. I told them that I didn't want Vista, and they were more than happy to accomodate me with a Windows XP computer.

Okay, before we get completely off-topic here, I'm just crossing my fingers that I can get onto Volks on November 1st. Thank goodness it's on a weekend (no disrespect to those who work on weekends), considering that a majority of us work weekday jobs... at least from my perspective anyway. *shrugs*

 

Sorry to crosspost, but I got a letter from Mr. Shigeta from our 1001 cranes project. In the letter he says there WILL be another American Dolpa! It will be in June, 2009 in New York!!! I was really worried there weren't going to be any more American Dolpas when they announced the November one was going to be online only.

Now, that is a true Japanese Business way. A complete follow up with a very personalized touch. As mentioned before, holding a DP outside Japan takes so much time and money, it requires so much planning, it is rather difficult for Volks to run DP or a Sumika if the location is not Japanese-friendly (because we must keep in mind that Volks is running everything from Japan while still operating at their regular full speed ahead.)

Thus, if the people can get information and connections to hotels which can be used for holding a DP and help Volks to do planning; I am pretty sure that it is possible to have DP in the midwest in a year or two.

What a beautifully written letter. Wow, that definitely says a lot about Mr. Shigeta. He really cares about any and every Super Dollfie fan out there, and he takes everything into consideration. That's so cool.

Although, I don't live in the Midwest, I have been there more than 7 times, and I wouldn't mind going back again. I've been to Bettendorf, Iowa and tried my luck at the riverboat casino overlooking the Mississippi River, I went on a private boat ride in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, I took a trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, and I've even traveled to various tourist spots in Chicago, Illinois. If there's Dolpa within the Midwest, I would definitely love to go... of course, this time, it'll be on my own terms. *laughs*

 

I'm very intrigued to see what normal Dolpa features they will include, and limiteds and stuff. Also if they charge for online "tickets". I guess we'll know in a month or so right? They seem to release info about the Dolpas in that timeframe from what I remember.

I'm really excited about the on-line Dolpa!! Especially because it seems like my travel plans are always getting messed up around the holidays--this way it's so much easier for me to participate.

I wonder if there will be a way to do a full-choice system for on-line Dolpa?

 

"TICKETS"? as in admission fee?? The admission is free.

As for all the other happy special activities, I sure hope they will be able to include as many of them as possible.

 

It's really happy to see that people are going to have their own meetups during the web Dolpa. Don't forget, everyone, if it's the social aspects of Dolpa you miss, there are other BJD conventions and wouldn't it be great if they grew too? : D

Personally, I hope that this introduces web Dolpas to people in countries and continents that don't have Volks stores or Dolpas yet at all. I live in Australia and it would be great to have an event for all of the rest of us! Even if I were to travel to the US during one of the Dolpas I probably wouldn't be able to attend since I'm not a US member, but if they have international Dolpas and international membership, how fun would that be?

I don't own any Volks dolls, but I'd love a chance to experience a little bit of what Dolpa is like, even if it's just online.

I'm sure Volks will pull out the stoppers, and try hard to make the online Dolpa a wonderful experience. You'll never know if you like this type of event or not if you don't at least give it a try, right? Give it a try and have fun, everyone!

Man, I wish they'd re-release the yo-sd four sisters for it! ..or even better, four sister yo-tenshis!!!! that would best the best surprise ever!!!!!

 

I haven't heard of anything new yet for this dolpa. I hope we hear something soon too.

 

Well, Yo-Tenshis have only ever been released at Tenshi no Sato in Japan at special events. I highly doubt Volks will ever release any Tenshi outside of Sato so I wouldn't expect any for this web event.

The best LE scenario that I can think of is that the Web Dolpa should allow attendees to choose one previous LE doll from Volks, then we get to buy and own whichever doll we choose. Since there is a set number of attendees, then it would be more difficult to buy more than one doll [unless you give up your choice to your friend or you make several aliases in order to attend]. I would personally choose a SD16 Yukinojo, since there aren't any for me to buy right now.

Though it would be nice if they re-release the dolls that were the popular votes from the surveys. Since people like different sizes it would be good if there was one of each non-sato body type.

As far as One-Offs and rereleases are concerned, I would be overjoyed if they had Elsie, Nagisa, Rio, Sweet Dream Nono, Sweet Dream Nana, Momoko/Rose/Bianka, Sweet Dream Mimi, Kurumi, Luna, Suiseiseki/Souseiseki, or Ran!!! Especially if they had white skin and makeup by Ciera!!!

I still miss the gorgeous Luna One-Off they had at the NY Dolpa. I lost her in the lottery, but her new owner is awesome and let me hold her!!! Also, I've only just discovered the beautiful potential of the Suiseiseki/Souseiseki head, so it's been added to my giant wishlist!!

I just know this Dolpa will be awesome!!! I can't wait!!!

I would like a Williams one-off but he would be so popular... A Sui/Souseiseki would be great. I think I would put in for a Toppi if they do one. SwD Mika too, Elsie, and a SwD Kira or Nana would be great.

I'm hoping they have School MSDs Taachan and Miichan available! I'd like to get the girl! She looks a little like Toppi.

 

I think that's the second best option. If that's the case, then I'll still get a SD16 Yukinojo, since he's the only SD16 boy around.

This will probably be one of the only Dolpas where we'll be able to drink during the event. People can choose to make a game of it, where we drink a shot every time we read the word "Dolpa." If the web Dolpa fails to have a chatroom, then we can all go on our webcams and log onto Stickam.com, which would compensate for the missing social aspect of the event ...and we wouldn't really be drinking alone.

I really do hope that they have one offs for this online event. They're one of the highlights of any Dolpa. And I'd hope that they're at the store, so we can just run right over and grab it. Oh, mysterious web Dolpa.

Ahhh, Ran. The more and more I see her repainted, the more I want her~! :P Here's to hoping for a re-release (and that I'll have enough money saved by then, hee hee). Personally, though, I would just DIE if they re-released Kurumi or Luna (longshot, I know I know).

Well personally I am dissapointed but I can understand why. one ,the u.s economy is at its weakest probably since the great depression , two its making vendors and venue opps more greedy and perhaps maybe they have a bad tasts in their mouth from that horrible theft at the NY dolpa of all those dolls.

My question is this though: Are you going to have to pay to access the dolpa?

Also is it only limited to Volks card carrying members or can any one log on I wonder ?

I dont think you should be hoping for an event like that. Volks will end up doing what they do no need to get false hope up. If its just like the ny ones though Hopefully there will be some good new molds and some nice one offs ^^

How does one go about getting Volks USA membership

 

Reizei-chan- Just buy anything from the website. They'll send you a membership card no matter how big the order is.

 

Can you also get one from buying something at the LA store? I'm going to be visiting it this month.

 

Yup, you can get it if you visit the store as well. I'm pretty sure you give them your information and they'll mail it out to you, at least I think that's how I got mine.

 

Yup yup. That's how it works. Although it would take a while until you get your card, luckily they do tell you your membership number beforehand if you go to the store.

 

I sure hope so too... Oh and sei-tenshi. It's my dream to own one with green wings.

 

You get your card right away if you purchase something in the store. It just has a number on it that is assigned to your membership.

Just a hunch, but I suspect there won't be any rei- and sei-tenshi for this event. Those are usually given away as door prizes in drawings, and...well, there aren't any doors!

 

Oh, I'm sure they'll find a way to randomly select attendees. You can't have a Dolpa without Sei and Rei Tenshi!!!
