Dolls Party in LA 2015 Tea Party!

Aug 3, 2015

1. For discussions relevant to the tea party specifically

2. Could someone please tell me what all was in the most recent email about the tea party event volks sent?
I got in the tea party with the most recent lottery but it seems only the previous winners got the email.

3. Some of the bullets are pasting weirdly for me, but hopefully this reads easily enough.

4. So wait- is the whole Dolpa taking place at the tea party? Waht about the Dolpa dolpa? (I'm not going to any of this, I'm just wondering.)

5. The tea party is a separate event taking place alongside the Dolpa which is why there are now two threads.

6. I'm glad there are two threads - it makes more sense.

7. Thanks thesaraghina :D

8. I'm disappointed to hear that the doll being brought to the event and the doll being entered in the contest have to be one and the same. I'm not looking to be deprived of my carry-around doll while she's displayed for voting or what-have-you, and I already have her outfit planned.

9. Yeah its a bummer. I wanted to take one doll for the tea party and the other for the contest.

10. Copying this post here since it's relevant to the Tea Party.

11. I mean i guess it makes sense, said they said we are only allowed one doll anyways @.@

I'm just wondering what on earth will i have her wear @.@

12. So the dolls for the contest have to have an Alice in Wonderland theme?

13. Yes. I picked up an order today and asked for clarification. It IS Alice in Wonderland.

14. I wonder if they are going to have any doll releases or just the one-offs?

15. I confirmed the faceup on the doll needs to be done by you, the owner, or Volks. No mods are allowed. I heard someone was asking about body mods and haven't heard a word back on that.

Also annoyed about this. I posted a comment on Facebook, but I think I need to send them an email.

16. Oh wait, that's not fair for those of us that are completely talentless! Oh boo, guess I'm out of that contest, lol. Gives me more freedom about who I bring at least.

17. Same here! At least this means that I don't have to be disappointed about the has-to-be-the-same-doll rule, because the doll that I would have entered in the contest has a faceup from the previous owner, not from me, so I couldn't enter her anyway.

18. Oops.
Somehow my response ended up in the wrong thread.
At least I prefer to do my own, crappy faceups. Thankfully Yukinojo is still default because I never got around to him. I'm praying to Mother SD that there will be limiteds for the regular Dolpa attendees.

19. I'm the person asking about body mods, but I still have not heard back from Volks.

20. BTW they just sent out the event info to the second lottery winners.

21. Thanks! I just got mine too :dance I think they might have been waiting for the end of the second lottery payment period since they allowed people to pay until last night (I didn't notice it until today since I paid right when I got the email--I was so excited I got shaky :sweat ).

Macarontea was awesome and forwarded the email to me beforehand but I still feel a lot better getting it myself.

22. Soooo....what do we think this surprise gift lottery is inside the Tea Party? I refuse to be excited about it, but I was curious what maybe some of the past Dolpa goers thought?

23. At all prior Tea Parties Volks has had a doorprize type give away. Often clothes, wigs, eyes and such from the store. There has also been a few of the Sei-tenshis in the past.

24. I just heard from Volks in regards to body modifications on Costume Contest entries. They said they were in the process of contacting Japan on this topic and would let us know soon. Alrighty then... just gonna proceed as if it were a go, for the time being.

25. Today I got an email from Volks saying that they heard back from Japan headquarters and my body-modified doll will be allowed in the costume contest! I had sent a photo of the mods, which are quite extreme, and right out there in the open (a very long neck), just to be sure. So, I assume less extreme mods are okay. If you are not sure, they are probably ready to answer yes or no now. I hope that helps!

26. They just posted a FB update about the one offs and charity auction doll...with no photos.

If I'm reading the instructions correctly, we get one entry form per person so we'll only be able to enter for one one-off.

27. I think that's how it usually works. Makes it tough if you really like more than one though.

28. That's awesome news, I'm glad they'll allow your doll! Mine is sadly still out, because she's got a faceup from her previous owner (not me), and because she would be doll #2 for the Tea Party for me (and I'm just...not willing to haul a doll down there, then have to relinquish it to put it on display and then have no doll to carry around - I want to still have a doll with me).

29. They did a one-entry-form-per-person thing at IDEX, too. We were allowed to enter for more than one doll each there, but of course you can't win more than one. We had to write our name and info and then which dolls we wanted to enter for. Hopefully this will be the same thing, so we won't have to only choose one to go for.

30. Huh -- at NY Dolpa, they definitely let us put in for more than one one-off. (I put in for the girl that Sher wound up winning, and for the one that my daughter did win. And Kira had the dolls I wanted on her entry form.)

We only had one entry *form* per person, but they let us put more than one number down.

(It does sound like we can only put in for a single one-off this time -- which is a shame, because certain dolls are going to be WAY more popular than others, so it makes it more of a gamble. *sigh*)

Hope they clarify that we're allowed to put in for more than one, even if they restrict it to one *win* per person!

-- A <3

31. Oh good, I don't anticipate even being able to afford a one-off, but it could be the same type of form. :)

32. Heh, I have notoriously lousy lottery luck. I'm bringing enough cash to pay for whatever doll I might win, but chances are nill of that. Anyone with amazing lottery luck who isn't interested in entering for a one-off for themselves is more than welcome to enter for me, lol. :)

33. I agree. I saw that and was a bit sad. It makes my decision harder. I really want to get a lieselotte, so I'm going to have to decide how I want to take my chances, which is a bit saddening. I think I may still be going for the newer doll because I really fell in love with her new look moreso then the original.

Also I'm a bit like worried what will be at the tea party because depending on what one off is there, I don't know if everyone will have the money to go in for both. D:

34. Is anyone else having Dolpa dream/nightmares? I had one the other night where I was late and was behind and missing everything and everyone, trying to play catch up. So I guess it is appropriate for the Alice theme? :sweat

I'm really curious on the prices of the Best Selection dolls. I'm curious to know if they will be priced like their regular release prices or like IDEX prices? I think for the most part I am safe from them. I would think that people are able to enter for one Best Selection and one One Off as they are separate drawings. Good luck to anyone trying for them!

35. pris84, I hope you wouldn't be late or missing everything in real time! :)

I'm wishing good luck to everyone too. I'm safe from Best Selection dolls, same with Standards and Coordinate dolls. Though it's sad that there is no big Alice, even if there would be one as one-off or One-for-all, the chance would be really slim :(

36. I agree - if there is a one-off Alice, there will be a lot of us trying for her! I was so hoping she would be a Dolpa release.

37. Haha! I'll probably be okay! I'm usually a pretty early riser on Dolpa days. But there is always a chance to get distracted and miss out on something. I will make sure to bring a watch to keep myself on time. :)

I'm safe from all those dolls too. I still think we may see another Alice/Lorina release in the future, even if it's not at this Dolpa. I'm okay to wait for her. I think One off chances are still better in LA than at the Japanese Dolpa or even the Sumikas. And to win a charity Alice depends on how deep a person's pockets are! :sweat

I guess it depends on what other one offs are offered. I was hoping that Alice/Lorina would be a LA Dolpa release too. I still believe that we are going to see Alice/Lorina again (in the future). It would be so awesome if they let people do pre-orders for her in LA! We can hope? :D

38. Wow. Just wow.

39. Cheshire Shinku!! :o I'm gonna die!!! :D:D I'm excited to even just see her!

40. I honestly thought the same thing! She gave me Kasumi vibes too.
I was too excited and said lottery instead of auction when I first posted.

41. Well, I guess my wallet is safe from the dolls! The Alice is the only one I was hoping for and I can't afford a charity one-off version of her. :) Shinku and Suigintou are super cute though!

42. I'm glad I'm not the only jumble of words and squeals around here then. My husband ran into the room because I screamed when I saw the one offs. heh heh... oops...

43. If it eases anyone's worries, none of those One Offs are on my dolly dream list. I was white-knuckle crossing my fingers hard for a Kaelin, but I guess my advance Dolpa mojo wasn't working.
The Shinku is super super cute, but she isn't a doll for me.

I do look forward to seeing who wins all the dolls! :aheartbea Good luck everyone!! :clover

44. What made me a little confused is that they describe the charity doll as : Base on Super Dollfie® Graffiti Girl “Alice”. That is throwing me for a bit of a loop.

I can see why people thought she was Kasumi because she has Kasumi's wig. SD Yume-Tenshi Kasumi Original Wig, WD150001-3-SM#9 Plus she is on the SDGr body and body blushed like Kasumi.

She is gorgeous. I bet her auction price tag goes high, high, high. Is there time to sell a kidney? haha

I was a little surprised to see that there are only 6 one offs. I guess we got spoiled by the 20 - 30 One offs from previous LA and NY Dolpas. :sweat

45. Yea, I think I may hold off.. Depends on what happens with Lieselotte... Shinku is my favorite though of the selection. Ct and shinku! 2 good things for me. I'm sure I can't be the only one to recognize her wig... It's the limited Volks Ran wig. XD

46. Shinku is a totally adorable Cheshire cat!

47. I'm safe. I don't care for any of the one-offs and the Alice, while pretty, is just not my style. Good luck to those who try for them!

48. Noooooooo!!! I was really hoping there would be no Suigintou :( I'm not even attending but at least the event not having the holiest of grails would ease the pain T_T AND she's SD16. Please kill me.

Volks, y u do dis.

Hmm, do we know any price estimates on an SD16 one-off?

49. Just based on past SD16G One-Offs, I would imagine she'd fetch around $1,300 - $1,400. Possibly more for her extra-fancy attire.

50. The one-off are beautiful! It's nice to see Suigintou as the Red Queen, I guess I will need to bring mine with me for sure, lol
If these are all one-offs and Alice only in Charity auction then the only thing is left is to go and quietly cry in the corner....

51. I think I'm safe from most of the one-offs as well. Aside from Williams (which I own one), none of those have ever been on my dream list so I'd rather not put in for one I'm lukewarm about when I know many of these are sought after.

I'd really like to try for a Charlotte though! A 1/3 chance is better than a One Off anyway. I have to ask, can you put in multiple lotto entries and only win once right? It's unlikely I'd even win, but if that's the case I might put in for others too. So excited, and yet dreading seeing all my savings deplete in my account lol.

52. Ah, that link helps a lot! Thank you ^^

53. Why cry? I think you have a very good chance at Alice. Less people than a Japanese Dolpa and only people from the Tea Party will be bidding. Good luck! :)

It says on Volks USA, one entry sheet per person. So I'm guessing that means just one doll to put in for. Good idea though to try for both Charlottes!

54. *crying in the corner*

FOUR of my dream dolls. FOUR of them.

(Hoping and praying that we can enter for more than one one-off, because otherwise, I'll have to be making some hard calculations about "Which one is likely to be the least popular and thus give me the best chance.")

There's no way I'll be able to win the charity auction for that GORGEOUS Alice -- I'm on a major budget, due to all the piddly things that just keep adding up in the past couple of months, and I don't have an auction-winning type of income, sadly.

But I thought I might be able to get a one-off -- and Suigintou, Shinku, and Lorina are all on my desperately-want list (especially the first two, which have been out of my price range since their original release. I was lucky enough to get a secondhand Suiseiseki, and she was still one of my most expensive dolls.)

I'm surprised there are only going to be six -- there were many more at the last US Dolpas. I mean, I'm glad there are any at all -- but it makes the odds of winning worse. (At least there's one boy, and one Yo boy, so that the boy-collectors aren't completely left in the cold!)

Heh -- don't mean to sound ungrateful, I'm DELIGHTED that they are bringing such in-demand dolls as one-offs, because it's the only way I can ever hope to snag Shinku or Suigintou . . . I just wish they were releasing a limited doll at the same time, like an Alice/Lorina re-release, which would mean that people could decide between pre-ordering and going in for one-offs, and more people would be leaving happy, rather than everyone being in competition for just a few dolls.

This is going to be a nail-biting event, for sure!

55. I am sad to say that I am totally safe >_> On on hand I was hoping to bring home a new doll but on the other, I don't have to frantically try to come up with a lot of money to spend...lol I really would love to have an Alice, Lorina or Liesolotte but not at that quantity, my luck has always been horrible at Volks events.

Oh well, I am excited to see everyone and meet people I have know on the internet for ages *Ahsbet*

56. Thank you of course.... :sweat Eh, I had a hope to pay normal price for her that's why I were waiting for re-release, or at least try to pay a normal price ;)

*giving a napkin* I'm wishing you a good luck Ashbet! :)

57. I'm so glad they announced these the same day they announced the Dolpa lottery wins and not after. Knowing I'm safe from them helps for piece of mind.

The only one is White Rabbit and I can't tell from the photos if he'd have the problems I've had with Volks faceups in the past.

They're all really pretty dolls and I'm glad they did these ones. If there had been a Kaelin I'd have been crying.
