dolls on a plane

Aug 21, 2006

    1. Sorry for the bad pun on the topic title! *teehee* But in September I'm going on a trip and going on a plane, I hope to have my girl finished by then and take her with me. But I really hate to think of her squished in a suitcase, so I want to take her with me on the plane. She can share my seat and look out the window! :aheartbea
So I'm asking if anyone else has taken their precious on a plane like I intend to do so; and if so, got any pics to share?

    4. This is Mephi on the plane to Japan. The background is kinda boring, but I like the profile. And I know Mephi liked being out. :)

The baggage screeners were the most inquisitive people! They asked to see my doll and thought he was a she, and was cute! I didn't bother correcting them cause I had a plane to catch, but I thought it was funny.

    7. I just got back (literally, about an hour and a half ago! D: ) from Seattle.

On the way down, I couldn't resist taking pictures of Erik looking out the window. He seemed to enjoy the view.

(I wanted pics of Onyx on the way back...the view was GORGEOUS over mountaintops and rivers....but unfortunately, I was at a WALL seat D: )

BUT.....Erik got a seat all to himself on the way back. X3

(You should have seen the look I got when I attempted to buckle him in for this picture....haha. And the seat belt was too big. Ah well ;) )

    8. I have a few from coming home from NDK this year. . .

Elijah: why am I wearing this stupid hat???
Pete: Why are you not taking pics of my face???

Eli looks scared. . . but Pete will protect him from the snakes. . .

Sadly, Simon and Iikiba were up in the luggage rack in Simon's doll carrier in a suitcase. . . we had all the boys out on the way down, and it almost gave the old lady next to me a heat attack. . . also, the sun was setting in rays of pain and evil, so no pics of anything outside. . .:doh

    10. When I brought Seren (my MSD girl) home from Tokyo to Brisbane, she ended up buckled into the spare seat between my husband and I for most of the flight (except when she and I took a nap). I carried her onto the plane in my arms wrapped in a scarf.

We'll be flying again to Japan in a few months time, and I will have a case for Seren on that trip - I was constantly worried going through security and customs that I might drop her or that she might be bumped.

    13. As long as the package is well padded (like with the pillows from the original boxes or soft blankets), anything would be fine, IMO.

    15. I took my EID hunk Dante on a trip from Germany to Ohio, safely in his Dollcarrier ... he spend most of the time up in the overhead compartment and was just fine there even if I would've loved to take him out for a shot or two but I was traveling with my parents there when I had a window seat and on the way back it was just to crowded ...
The reactions at the security checks was great though xD In Amsterdam the Ladys were squeeing over the 'naked person' in the bag ... and in Detroit going home I had to unwrap him completely 'cause the Lady was paranoid that I might have a chopped up human formed into Dollparts in there ... I mean ... thanks for trusting me to be so crafty but ... common <<

    16. I did a whole photostory with my pukis, and there were several pictures around the airport, and then on the plane.

    17. I took my kid delf bory with me on a trip once. It went well. I kept him wrapped in his blanket in my carry on most the time and he was fine. The only issue I had was on the way back.. the larger airports are alot more paranoid then smaller ones, the lady at the check point wanted me to empty my bag because they saw something weird inside. -.- She was so rude about it, I had told her a few times to becareful, but she had ignored me and kept yanking ony the part of the blanket my dolls head was at. I finally had to snap at her, telling her it was an expensive doll. Then once she was done tearing my carry on up, she left me to put it all back together.. So Id be there ahead of time, with your doll out of your carry on, then after you go through the security check point, put the doll away.

Anyway.. I wish I had the pictures that I had taken still...x.x

    20. When I was coming back from Arizona last year, I took Julian on the plane with me. I had all my belongings in two carry on bags, but put Julian on top of one. That way I could wheel him around and the security folk could see what he was. On the plane itself, I was the only one in my entire row so I was able to sit Julian beside me. here are a few photos:

My trip was fairly uneventful (other than fearing him being stolen when I had to go to the bathroom and couldn't fit my stuff in the stall >_<), but my mom did say she fully expected me to come running out of the airport, Julian hoisted in the air with a mass of security charging after me cause they thought Julian had weed or something stored in him >_> luckily that didn't happen.

    26. I recently moved to El Paso, and as I was paranoid about putting Lili in a suitcase, I carried her with me. Everything went smoothly, aside from me not having enough hands for all my stuff. ^^;
Just put her in her own tray thing through the x-ray/carry on check, and carried on with my day. A couple people stopped and looked at her, but only one guy asked for a photo. He was doing a project with this little paper doll that travels - I think he said he was writing a children's book for a class he was taking. Looks like my little girlie is gonna be in a book! :D

      Anywho, pictures....

This is how she traveled about the airport with me. Though the airport was pretty empty, I was still nervous that someone might waltz up and swipe her, so I kept looking back at her.

They gave us plain plane-shaped crackers. I was amused.
