Dolls in Water

Ismay is taking a bath from a tub of water. There is real water in the tub.



This one she is washing her face. Poor dear has been locked up in the tower for so long, she would love to bathe in a river or lake!

 

This post actually brings up a question I wanted to ask. Is it okay to submerse a Super Dollfie in water? Will anything get damaged down the road if not right away?
And would anybody have any good suggestions for bubble-bath pictures (what to use to get lots of foamy, long-lasting bubbles)?

 

Water cannot damage anything unless the elastic strings cannot dry properly and end up moldy. If the doll was submersed enough for a good soaking, I would let the doll dry out in a tilted position and place something in each of the joint to allow drainage and the air to circulate while drying. Just a small object to hold the joint open. I wouldn't soak a faceup, although usually a small bit of water doesn't hurt if the face is well sealed. Mine have been in the rain and snow quite a few times.

Another idea would be to seal the lower body in a plastic bag and tape it well to the hips if you photograph them sitting in a bubble bath.

Non water bubble bath alternatives (depending on the look you want) could be shaving cream or hair mousse, cotton balls, clear beads, crumbled packing foam.....and of course, good old photoshop.

 

My friend and I had put our dollshe boys in pool twice. We usually do this before restringing+cleaning/sanding sessions. Since we changed the elastic after the two pool trips, we didn't have problem with them getting floppy.

This is probably my favourite photo shoot. We took Phelan away with us last year and he loved the river. I only put his hand and leg in the water as it was running pretty fast, I didn't want him to be swept away!


I love the way the water ripples around his hand in this last hand one...

and the leg..

was really kinda scary taking the photos a I had to pose him balanced on the rock and then go to another rock away from where I could catch him to take the photos Still, they turned out pretty good! and there was absolutely no damage done to him by the water.

So wait, is it okay to put dolls in water as long as you dry them properly? Do you have to take them apart to dry them properly? Or can you just stick something in the joints so air flows through like someone said earlier?

 

Sukiikus - You unstring them and let them air out to dry. making sure the elastic is fully dry before restringing them

Went to a Pool party... took a few of my mermaid in the water.

 

A couple days ago I took Phoebe to the beach. It was a little difficult to get photos though, since the tide was coming in so fast.

Oh, and VampireAnneke- how did you get the tail on your mermaid? It looks really nice!

In Bangkok Matthieu found a big vase of water with a flower. I wouldn't let him in the water, but he got really close.

 

Emily had a nice, relaxing bubble bath in my sink... she`s not so keen about bathing naked while being watched, thus the suit. Looks like she wants to kill me..
