Dolls in the light

I'm pretty sure I've got some of these. My boy Artemis always whites out no matter what I do. Though sometimes, they look really neat.


Pest was sitting in a sunbeam.

 

Leith at the Morikami Gardens with a bit of glare from the sunlight.





This is Fallon with glare from the flash. It kind of washed out her face-up but her eyes look beautiful!





This shot freaks me out when I look at it. Leith is my first bjd and the thought of him baking in the sun makes me a bit nervous but he seems to have survived it just fine.

 

Not really bad shots, just that the sun in my room muffs up a lot of photos.


Nika on my desk, with the sun outside turning everything blue.

I was taking pictures of Frances in the backyard one morning and found this amazing golden light filtering in through the fence.

This was one of the first shots I took of Deandra, the other shots she was kinda washed out with the sunlight, being WS, but I actually liked this shot, she look's like she is glowing..

I found another light picture that I like.

 

My white Vega merman is self-illuminating. It can drive you crazy waiting till after sunset to photograph him! But also rewarding...





But, washout aside, I have a long and loving relationship with the sunbeam that visits my couch every afternoon.

Sunshine and a Flower

Went to a mini-meet and outdoor garden shoot last spring, before I realized that sunlight could be a little too bright for pics.
Fennel looks all kind of liquidy-soft and marshmallowy in this shot.


And Odette is a little too-bright faced, squinting into the sun.

I randomly sat Marie down in the kitchen so I could get some popcorn, and when I took a look back at her...



...this awesome patch of rainbow light was attacking her neck! XD

First day I got him....I had no idea about lighting for photographs so I totally let the sun glare right into my camera.

Turned out surprisingly nice though^^

 

Early spring light produces some effects I really liked:




Then there's a great accidental light diffraction through a fur wig!

 

This wasn't really planned. I just liked the spot. It wasn't until I started to take the photo that I realised she was sitting in a sunbeam.

These are from last fall. Was coming home from a Saturday half-day of work. Had doll, had camera, hoping to grab some quick shots. The sky was just SO pretty and blue, with those big clouds. Found a spot between the back of a Walmart and a local small airfield, where it was private and fairly open. Even then, had to hold him up above my head with one hand, while snapping (as steady as possible!) with the other!



Was worth the arm cramp, even when some unsettled clouds started passing through!

 

Tried to fit this lens-FX shot into a photostory, but can't. Love the lighting effects between the backlighting and the flowers too much to just let it go, though --




And one for the original concept of this thread -- blazing white, anyone? (This is after major down-adjusting!)

 

Last of the summer sunlight -

 

Glow girl! Love the way her skin and hair seems to glow against the black outfit.

 

My friend Dannyboy has this stunning Sard, who keeps coming over to my house to have his picture taken.





Samir is just standing in front of gold sequins. Sequins are a terribly fun light-source.






Zhaaselin lounges in the same light on a different day.

 

I was excited that I finally got her her red wig, and wanted to use the sunshine to accentuate it; it did that, and more.

 

This totally reminded me of this picture I took...

 

The light playing off the metallic gold in the papers that I used as backdrops look kinda pretty (and very yellow...)

 

Archie tends to look whiter than he actually is when the camera is focusing on Lily.
