I'm new at BJDs and cannot decide whether to get Kana senior or the "normal" one yet ^^ But it definitly has to be pink kana!
As there have been a lot positive answers over the times I decided that my first BJD will be from AS! They make lovely looking dolls! And they seem to have improved over the year...

As there was said the senior one will come with double-joints... what does that mean to the doll itself? The posability? Will it be possible to move her a bit more with that? How about re-assembling the doll? Would it get more difficult to handle?
It isn't said on the pages itself, for there are many copied written versions...

And how about the blushing options?
I want to get a really white kana (white as milk, white as light), so how much effect will these three options maybe have on the color? And will the skin get more shiny and plastic like (will it be reflecting more light compared to unpolished ones?)
-Basic polishing for the body(polishing+UV Coat+three<-----three??)
-UV Coat for the whole body including head(no colour)
-Fine polishing for the body inculding fingernails(polishing+UV Coat)

Oh, and about the shipping costs:

I know this page they linked about the shipping costs for all the zones they ship to? But in what kind of currencies? For zone five (my zone) for example:

Additional is no secret (as is first), but what's D and M? Could it mean it's a range for the first 500g? Or what and who and how?

It means the doll has extra joints. It improves flexibility a lot, and hopefully in turn, poseability because of that. reassembling the doll should be made no more difficult or different from stringing a non double jointed doll. There will just be extra joints to go through as far as I am aware. ^^ You are paying more for the increased flexibility.

When they say polishing, I'm pretty sure they mean blushing. so blushing +UV coat
So in answer to your question, it won't make it shiny. If you want her really white I would advise you not to get body blushing, because AS do their body blushing very intense and pink, which will seriously go against the whiteness which you are looking for. ^^;
Unless you have a can of MSC UV cut or have a place you know you can purchase it from, you might want the spray of UV coating on it.
As said before, if you want white then I would advise against the body blushing. I personally like it, but it wouldn't fit what you want. ^^

I can't help you there with the shipping costs though , sorry ^^;; I don't understand it XD

It would be best though to ask Zero as she is the english representative of AS. I'm just obsessed.

we don't mention double joints will make the doll more flexible that's beacuse we are not the first company to produce double jointed doll,so if you are not new in this filed you will know what's the different bettween single joints and double joints,and if you are new and don't know you can send mail to the email address given on the page to ask about.

And as sakuralee said,the blushing itself is good,but if you want white body,you'd better choose remove seamlines or choose UV Coat for the whole body including head,and three means breasts and the .....(you can guess which part on one's body is a secret place).

about shipping:this is not mean where we can send package to ,but mean where EMS can send package to.

Yes, I've clicked on their wig link before but nothing has never loaded.
When I clicked your's it's been about 20mins and only one wig has appeared. The page says it's still loading, but this is quite bothersome >_<;

 

I ordered a Milk white Gus sometime in February and he arrived to me March 11th

How is the quality?

I've never had a french resin doll before and I was astounded by how lovely he is The resin is so smooth and beautiful, and absolutely seamless.

Did the dolls look like the ones in the photos?

I ordered him without a face-up so of course he didn't look exactly like his photos, but otherwise yes, he's just as beautiful as he is on the website.

How is the posability of the doll?

When I recieved him he wasn't too tightly strung ( but not overly floppy either ) so he couldn't really hold his poses himself, but as for the poseability itself, he's actually capable of some really nice natural looking positions that my DoD boys can't. So that's definately a huge plus for me. I've noticed he can't stand though unless he's wearing his shoes and I think it might be because his feet are a bit on the smaller side. He has gotten terribly loose though after the last few months and eneds restringing so that may also be part of it, though he was shipped with wire, which I thought was really nice, so that should probably helps alot.

What kind of skintone do the dolls have? (really pinkish, normal fleshy skintone... comparisons with other companies?)

I got my boy with the Milk white and really is a stark, bright white. I know some people like a creamier white, but this whiteness is perfect for what I want. I've never compared him to another white doll so I can't compare how he looks next to them.

How was the customer service?

I was SO happy with how nice my emails were replied to. They were very polite, didn't take forever to actually write back and reassured and worked with me when I was worried about a mix-up on the gender of my boy's body.

How was the packaging? Did they send it with a carrier bag?

My boy came in a bunch of secure bubble wrap, inside his soft, white carrier bag which was inside a pink box which was inside another shipping box. I think they really did do an accurate job on their end on making him secure, but I was surprised to find that even though the outside box looked only mildly beat up, one corner of the pink box he was in was nearly torn off @_@ Not sure what that was about, but you can tell there was care in packaging him, just not sure how much care there was with the post.

Is the store reliable?

How is the resin smell?

I ordered him with a vanilla scent. I can't smell anything about him that smells like vanilla, but at the same time, he doesn't smell like resin does either. He sort of just smells like nothing. Although when my friend sniffed him she swears he smells pretty xD

 

Hi, I might be buying a doll from AS in the future, and I was wondering - how fast does the French resin yellow, compared to normal resin? The person at AS I asked by e-mail told me that it would be the "same quality as" normal resin if I ordered the UV coating as well, which I think means that the French resin will yellow at the same rate as normal resin (if I order the UV coating). However, I need others' opinions about it. =P Does the French resin with UV coating yellow quickly?

Oh, and does the current pink resin from AS fit the colour of a DOT body? I've seen people saying that it is far pinker than DOD's earlier in this thread, but I just want to make sure.

 

I have DoD dolls and it is a little bit more pink, but relatively similar ^^

Me, I own her. XD She is small, smaller than Yo-SD Volks so the clothing may be a tad too big for her. ^^

According to some of my friends, DOD dolls tend to have a more natural colour after yellowing, as their current skin colour is rather pink. I wonder if this is the same with pink-skinned AS dolls, as their dolls are a shade darker than DOD's...

I'm wanting a white skin senior lucifer in the future (hopefully a christmas gift) but I would really like to know what the bodies actually look like. The face is perfect for the character I have in mind, best sculpt I have ever seen for him actually, but I haven't been able to find any pictures of the body. Are the SD's urethane or french resin? There seems to be some dispute over that, and I thought I'd seen that they had a new body style? I just want to know as much about these dolls as I can before I commit. I think I would order from Denver Doll here in the US to save on shipping, so I really just want to know more about the doll.

 

I had ordered an AS Vera back in March. :3 I recieved her on april 4th. It took only about two weeks, total, to get her.

How is the quality?

Amazing. I was scared there would be color differences, but she is beautifully perfect and very nicely strung. My Vera has fallen many many times as well.. and there have been no scratches or dents what so ever. (:

Hrm.. I have some trouble posing her in some ways, but other than that, it's not to tight, and not to loose.

My Vera has the Pinky White tone. She was a little darker than I had expected but.. I am happy with it either way.

GREAT. It was literally one to one service with the owner. I ordered my doll when the old owner was still working there, but recently Zero took over. We talk over MSN sometimes and she's very helpful with everything you need to know.

Ehh.. It didn't come in a postal box.. they just sent her in her official doll box.. which was really tore up and what not. But I didn't care about that. She did come with a pillow like carrying bag.

Has anyone ordered a Senior doll? Is it worth the extra money for the double-jointedness? I only have a couple (very loose) dolls, but if the normal body is comparable to other companies and able to pose well, I'd like to know those comparisons too.

I have the Normal body, Snow Lucifer. He is gorgeous. Although I kind of wish I got Dark insted. It's the eyebrows. Love those crazy brows.

I have the snow version, which is pale but not white more like a soft ivory. In pictures he looks more white.

I bought him at Dollectable so no box for me. I did get the nice carrier bag, with one face shield, extra elastic, two photo (of dark Lucifer) and the wire for additional posing support. He also came with eyes and a wig. Both very nice.

Zero has been great at getting back emails.

He smells like resin but only it you put your nose directly to him. He did not come with the special scents.

Anything else?
I really like their sculps. I had only found out about AS after I bought my doll. I had seen him and fell in love. But then I found their site and there is a lot of things I would have ordered it I had gone through their site. They have stock clothing available as well as other wig and eye options. Plus I really love the Dark Lucifer and Gavin. I haden't seen him. I like way too many of their molds. I think their prices are great as well.

Just wanted to add that if you don't want to order directly from AS, you can now order the dolls through www.denverdoll.com, which if you live in the US you will save on shipping. It's also just nice to deal with companies that don't have a language barrier also. I'm thinking of ordering a Gabriel or maybe a Gus from them. They are also carrying the clothes, but after reading about the fitting problems, I'm thinking that I shouldn't waste my money.

I've had my Gus girl for about a month now... One of her strings have already either snapped or come undone in her right leg (I actually noticed this about three days after getting her) AND the string tied around the metal S hook thing in her head is fraying and looks like it won't be much longer until it snaps. I don't even take her out or do anything with her. She sits on a shelf... all day, all night.

 

Order date: Did it in a layaway, payment was super easy.

Ship: got a notice on the 12, arrive on the 20th (today)

It's the same thing. If you order from DDE, just make sure what you order is what they have in stock. If you order something that is not in stock, then they will order it from A-S and you will have to wait even longer.

My girl doesn't have a Senior body; for I see no need for it.

The picture of Gus that you see on DDE (that ISN'T the stock photo, but the one of her in the blonde wig) is actually MY doll.

Most people have the Milk Pinky resin colour, as it is more natural looking. I have the Milk, and it is very pale but quite beautiful.

Missie L: Wow, that is something! Did you write them about it? I have Mayou now for over a month and just had to tighten her legs. The first strings are still alright!

Chibi_Fluffy: My Mayou is pink skin and I have to say in light she is quite pale (just a little darker than my really pale skin)
Here is a photo. I know you have to have them really in front of you to tell but I think it can give you an idea of the color. Some more of her are in the arrival gallery of mine.



The blushing however I would call quite pink but I have no comparison to others right now so I don't really know. And it fits really well, so you don't have to think to get a skinned-looking doll or so! *laughs*
If you go some pages back (I think it's the 7th?) there I too prefered white at first. Well, I know now after some searching that they're not really pink that's why I changed to pink. ^^
When my Van arrives I will be able to post some white skin + blushing photos. I haven't seen some so far. ^^
Oh, the blushing options. I had some problems understanding them, too. And so I asked. The answers are also stated by Zero and Sakura_Lee on page 7 in this thread I think. ^^
For the joints I think it depends on what poses your doll should be able to do. I really like the double joints Mayou has. I especially like them on the arms because she can hold (and keep!) her hand to the shoulder of the same arm and that always looks really natural. She also holds poses of her legs better when the knees are bent. I don't know if that would be possible just with normal joints. Also you hardly see their strings. That I like, too. ^^

They told me to restring her. I don't know how, nor do I want to try. I'm a little upset about it all, since I had to pay around $350 in all for her, and the first thing I notice is that one of her strings is snapped.

Luckily my bestie is going to restring her for me. Thank goodness for friends.

"Fine polishing for the body inculding fingernails" is a detailed blushing with UV-coat to protect your dollfie from yellowing.

"UV Coat for the whole body including head" is just the coating without blushing. The doll has no other color than you chose for the skintone.

"Basic polishing for the body" is not as detailed as the fine one with fingernails and so on and has the coating, too.

"Remove seamlines": the doll has no extra color and no UV-coat.

(Please correct me, if I'm wrong)

And I made all the clothes clothes for Mayou (except her custom one) and it didn't rub off yet although my technics aren't the best and I basically put on and take off the clothes to get it right.
So with these experiences I would say: yes!

Don't go for what's cheaper. Go for what you want. This isn't a cheap hobby.
If you want the body to match the head, I would go ahead and get a blushed body. Angell-Studio blushes their doll heads HEAVILY, so if you want it to look right, I would go ahead and get the body blushed by the professionals.

My Gus's body isn't blushed, and it doesn't match her head at ALL. I wish I would have gotten them to blush her body.

 

My Vera's fully blushed, and I have to say it's well worth the extra few dollars Their work is stunning, and I really think she looks better for it
