Got my shipping notice for Arubi last night!!!! /o/

 

Ooohh I'm so excited! That means it will come soon! :-)

 

Ooh, congrats to everyone getting shipping notices! I had to go through a dealer (had to do a layaway to order in time to snag that sleeping head), so hopefully this means mine's on the way to the dealer, and will be on her way to me shortly after!

 

My split partner messaged me this morning saying our order shipped out too! So excited!

Its gonna take awhile to get my heads though, they live on another continent

 

I can't wait to start customizing her!! I am torn between sweet or mori. What are your plans?

 

I have to see my girl first to really get a handle on her character I know I'll love her but I gotta see her face to face. Mine was also purchased through a dealer, dolkus in specifics I got an email saying they were told she was shipped. So excited.

That's great to hear! I ordered through dolkus, too, but I haven't gotten an email from them yet. Fingers crossed!

 

She's now in San Francisco! Should get to Washington Monday or Tuesday
Spent last week working on my faceup and airbrush skills so I can paint her up asap!

Im really surprised to see people are already selling their Arubi. Dollpamm dolls seldomly endup in the marketplace.

 

My Arubi left Customs this morning! So she may arrive as early as tomorrow. I haven't quite decided yet what I want her faceup to be like, but am pretty sure about wanting to use white lacy-patterned temporary tattoos or nail decals on her body somewhere...and I think she's going to have short (maybe fluffy) white hair.

Question to other soon-to-be Arubi owners: Are you planning on having your Arubi's hoof-heels painted to be more "natural"/hoof-like, or more decorative/shoe-like?

 

Saw box opening pictures with my heads and they're gorgeous!

After staring at the blank heads for awhile i'm thinking the open-eyed head will be the boy and the sleeping head will be the girl. I really wanna find them some quadrupedal bodies so they can be semi-anthropomorphic little deer. Finding a body like that for sale is gonna be the hardest part, especially at a reasonable price because I need two of them, eek.

I'm looking forward to seeing yours! Mine's going to be a fairly modern/urban student, with pink (dyed) hair and cute clothes, and maybe some glasses if I can find a good scaled pair that'll look good on her. And I'm planning on natural-style for her hooves, since it was the "animal-ness" of the whole sculpt that drew me in so much in the first place.

 

Kapochka is so cute! I've always planned for a Pukifee someday, but I have to say, I think I like the Dollpamm bebes better. Are they more similar to Pukifees or Pukipukis in size?

 

hello there!! this may have already been discussed in the previous thread, but i was wondering if manjyu was discontinued. she's on my wishlist and i'd hate to see her go, especially since i don't see her as much as i do the other sculpts and i doubt that anyone would put her up for sale. sorry if im being redundant asking this question!!

Since it does say that they might be sold again in the future, it would be worth it to check in periodically and keep an eye on what's available; you can also always ask if there might be one left around. It never hurts to check![/FONT]

 

Arg! I totally missed the discontinued notice! Not that it would help my broke ass anyway! No Yomi for me I guess! I don't think she was very popular, and I always seem to like unpopular dolls that get discontinued.

 

My significant other just picked up Arubi from the post office, so I'll be doing a box opening tonight!

Something I forgot to take pictures of...the places where the different resin colors meet in her upper arms and thighs...they're not glued together, it's possible to pull the NS pieces out of the tan pieces. I was curious whether Dr. Mes may have used these as extra rotational joints, since the fur edging would have been a pretty ideal way to disguise that...but there are very definite deep locks/notches that the NS pieces click into, in only one position, so I guess they're not realllllly meant to move around/rotate. You could still potentially pull the pieces out of the locks and rotate them, though. XD

Oh, that's really interesting... that sounds like it'll make them much easier to blush a different shade from the rest of her body, so even if they don't necessarily move, that's still useful. But it really would be a great way to disguise some extra joints!

 

She's so pretty! Much smaller in person than I had imagined was yours strung super loose too? What color eyes did they send you? Mine were a beautiful green color bit I found them too large looking.

 

She is a little on the loose side, stringing-wise...I also got a deep green for eyes.

 

This is the smallest sculpt I have ever owned, my 5/6 wig is gapingly huge on her.

 

I was surprised to see this too. Maybe it just didn't live up to the buyer's expectation.

Restrung my Arubi today! It was quite a battle as the channels are very narrow. But! She can finally stand, as long as I rotate her thighs (the part above the "fur" section) so they are aren't locked into place. Anybody else have problems with this?


Also, she has been standing for 45 minutes, best standing doll I have.

 

My ice arubi has shipped Can't wait to see her, as I've never seen any Dollpamm dolls in person. I'm super curious as to how she poses and such.
Good to know I might need to restring her though! :P

 

I can't wait to see your pictures, @Snow! I loved both of them, and finally had to make up my mind for the Pure Arubi, but I'm dying to see owner photos of Ice Arubi!

I'm really hoping my own just hasn't been getting scanned and will show up today... otherwise she's stuck in Customs and it's more challenging to get things dislodged from there than from the other ways my shipments get "stuck" from time to time. (USPS needs to step up its game here.)

Tiny head is sooo tiny...I decided to try making my own wig for her (a short bob-ish feather wig, currently in-progress) rather than having to hunt down something that actually fits. XD;

I'm halfway decided (unexpectedly) to use the sleeping head as her primary...I've never kept a sleeping head or faceplate in my life, but I really like how hers is sculpted, it's growing on me (additional bonus of not having to find perfect eyes for her).

Facets by Marcia carries a lot of small-size wigs, because she also serves vinyl fashion dolls. You might find something you like there. I'd be interested to know what size fits.

 

I just posted up my Box Opening for my girl, but I thought I'd toss in a little of my wig test here. I've got two of ResinSoul's tinies, who have very similarly-sized heads to Arubi, so I tried out both their wigs. One is a Monique Gold wig (which I believe is sold by Facets), and the other is from For My Doll. I'm fairly sure they're about the same size, and can definitely say the FMD wig is 5.6-5.7 size. It's not QUITE as good of a fit as the Monique one, but I'm hoping maybe the cap for her incoming one will be a bit stretchier and will fit a bit better, and in the meantime I'll plan to get her a wig cap next time I do an order from FMD.

My Arubi is finally coming home today after Canada Post took forever to deliver her. They kept moving her over saying it would deliver the next day and then the next day. It made me so sad. But she's finally coming home today! Did you guys see the new girl he's coming out with? I want her, but I'm worried about the painted on eyes

 

Congrats on finally getting your girl! As for the new one, there's a replaceable eye version too, but with the lack of ankle and wrist joints, I'm not sure if she'll be on topic.

 

I'd be curious about this. Cause it's not like she isn't strung. It makes me sad that just because she's missing a few joints she won't be on topic.

 

I think they changed the rules so ankle joints weren't a problem, but I don't know about the wrists, if they'll rule her out or not...

EDIT: So it does look like the lack of wrist joints makes her OT for DoA:

 

So, after much research, I decided on getting a tan DollPamm Ivi! She's secondhand (found her here on DOA) and on layaway, so she should be here in early November. I'm so happy about getting her! But I just pre-ordered some Makos for her and is 14mm the better eye size for her? And I think I read she takes a 6-7" wig too right? Can anyone help me out? I gotta get ready for this girl!

As for the Pepe Line Pepper, she's adorable but I can really see her being OT until a redo of the body because the wrists and ankles can be seen as a deal breaker.

 

Congrats, @Gothic-Diurnal-Hime! I do have 14mm eyes in my Ivi, and a 6-7 wig, yes. It's a tiny bit loose on her since it has a long ponytail pulling it back, so I've got a small magnet hidden in it to hold it in place.

 

Awe well :-) I suppose will see on her haha. I got my Arubi and posted her box opening in the gallery :-) she's so pretty! I'm so glad I got her full set. I was pleasantly surprised with a second outfit as a gift :-)

i would hate not being able to pose the hands in different positions. I wonder why they decided to design them that way.

 

I think the idea he was going for with the Pepe line was to have an "introductory" or "entry level" bjd. Something with fewer small or moving parts to worry about, and something that probably can be cast and sold for a lower price because of that lesser number of parts. It is unfortunate though, that it looks like she will be off-topic here; I'd love to see what people do with her!
