I was curious if anyone has bought the Dollmore Real Mohair and could answer a couple of questions. Bear in mind I want to get the black color, nothing too crazy. I basically want a doll sized wolf cut. 1: Is it actually real mohair? 2: Are the strands good quality for their price point? 3: Does the hair layer well with itself? 4: Can you boil wash it, or should I use heat tools? Thanks a lot for being patient with me btw
Yes I think dollmore is selling reall Mohair its a natural fiber from an angora goat. So it is the hair trimmed from the goat. It very popular for many kinds of doll wigs, but especially short or fuffy wigs. How it lays will be determined by how you make the wig. Mohair can be styled similarly to human hair keeping in mind it is much thinner in diameter, so be gentle. If you could wash it depends on your wig making method really. If you use a water proof glue you could, but you shouldn't need to.
But they might have finished mohair wigs I didn't really look for that just was looking at what came up first. I think they have a 'real Mohair' distinction because they also sell a synthetic Mohair.
I looked last night and it does just say mohair but I also didn't click on any of the listings so it might have more details in the individual listings.
This is super helpful thank you! I was thinking about sewing the tracks in and because I was working with black in particular, that's why I thought it prudent to wash it to help with staining.
If you just want mohair locks, you could consider purchasing them on Etsy of Ebay and pay much less. Also quicker and less costly shipping. I'm not slamming Dollmore, just an option for you I have owned a Dollmore Lusion in the past. Or, if you want to be even more cost conscious, buy raw fiber and wash/dye the locks yourself.
