[Adopted] Dollmore Lusion Discussion - Part III!

Hi Kimber

Traveling is the same old Lusion Dahlia head sculpt with a limited edition faceup, outfit and wig. Well, possibly the wig is limited. I haven't really checked it out. There is supposed to be a new Lusion sized sculpt coming out soon.

The dolls all had a price increase across the board at Dollmore. Inflation, basicly. They hadn't had a price rise in some time and it was due. She is a hefty load of resin, and so expensive to make.

Their cost has gone up, Kimber, but how beautiful they are. They don't look grumpy in person, more wistful and a bit somber...but sometimes almost sensuous depending on their head positions, and elegant and nineteenth century one minute, Keene Kid the next. If you can, order her-you will not be disappointed!

 

I have four of the little darlings, and every single one of them but one has been bought for less on the secondary market. Sometimes far less, I'm afraid. So no, I don't think so, but if you don't bond with her, I'd be surprise. I adored mine as soon as she got out of the box-held her on my lap like an idiot, LOL, hugging and hugging. They are so much fun to play with!

 

Are you paying with credit card or Paypal? If it's the latter, just deduct the shipping from your pay. If its the former, contact Jeemon, and tell him you wish to pay with credit card and you are currently being charged for shipping, he will create a special order for you with the price readjusted so that the shipping fee is not included when you put it in your shopping cart.

 

If you pick Paypal just wait and they will send you an invoice with the shipping removed. Are you doing Traveling or...who?

 

Eyes and wigs are easily changed. It's primarily the faceup you're paying extra for, as well as the outfit. I'd study the makeup shots for each doll and see if one appeals more to you than another. Think of eye and wig colours you plan to use most and decide if they'd go with the makeup. Faceups can be changed, of course, but unless you're an artist it can be a major pain.

If you want a special manicure then tell Dollmore in the notes section of the order. You can send a photo of the colour to Jee and they will do your best to match it. My Ivy will have her toenails and fingernails painted this shade of green:

Golden is beautiful, Kimber, but very pale, and in some lights, bland. I'd try Black Dalia personally, as she have more oomph....or if you like Traveling's faceup, go for it. You only live once, and unless you're a mope like me, LOL, you'll only buy one. Go for the gusto, I say...

Singing that old chestnut, Poison Iveeeeeeeeey! She's going to be so gorgeous ,Vicki darling, that I can hardly wait...and she's not even mine. I wonder if they'll make her nails sparkling or matte. You're going to have to get Joy-Joy to make a bracelet for her, you know...

Xen -- anymore photo's of the dreaming head ? I am still waiting for mine to ship and was hoping to get a notice before the 26th. Guess it is quite a wait list on the default face ups.

I'm so close to ordering the Traveling Dahlia..Must stay away from the site! lol I really adore her " dolly "face up look.
Give me strength , no enabling! :-P

My hopes are that the new sculpt will be released by next month and it will be a "basic" and not a full set LE. Those prices for the outfits /LE are just painfully high now. Or, I am hoping to find another Lusion second market, too. Jen is my role model :-) ((hugs))

Yes, as you all probably know I am in hibernating mode until I see that new sculpt! I want it to be awesome! If it doesn't work out, I want either murmuring or black dahlia

Mesadollz /cry so beautiful! You enabler! I have to say though, I also like dreaming too. Sigh, so many dolly choices.

 

I do love Black Dahlia! Her face up is really very versatile. You see how warm the tones are of Murmuring? My photo's are untouched and in natural lighting. I only crop them , and never enhance the color so you all can get a real idea of what it looks like in person. While I take pictures of her in different colored wigs, she really , imo, looks the best as a red head. Black hair also looks smashing on her because she can pull off the heavy color due to having so much color in her face up. I don't think there has been a Lusion with so much coloring before, has there? Did any others have as much cheek blushing?

I had Persphone in that Lemony blonde wig and all I kept thinking is how awesome that would be on the Traveling Dahlia!! So, I ended up putting the long curly red wig on her again.

Gosh, someone order Traveling Dahlia, please??? Just too excited about her, really. The longer she stays available, the more tempted I will be to place an order.
The dress is beautiful, but if it were only more neutral toned to display in my house. It's so pink and would clash with my living room. .. ... ... Unless I keep her in my bedroom :-D All pink, rose, white & cream tones. My husband hates it. LOL

Kimber35 - I don't know if Xen caught your question. It is another Japanese artist doll, very expensive and I am not sure of the exact name. It's awesome, huh? Like breathtaking!!

Lusion's themselves are inspired by porcelain Gothic ball joint dolls by Japanese Artist Koitsukihime.
You can google the name for more info!


I have searched for a bedspread like that for a long time now! The style is difficult to find. It's the ultimate in vintage girly awesomeness. My grandmother had one similar, but it wasn't as vibrant.

P.s and all I can think of is I am BUYING one.. lol

 

You realize that 120cm=47inches= just under 4 feet!!! a 4 foot doll! that is insanity to me. It's like a mannequin at that point. Plus, where would I put her? She would need her own room. aaack.
I mean, honestly, 80cm Dahlia is huge to me... so I know that I wouldn't be able to handle anything over 80cm.

I still hope it's a typo. Can you imagine the price of a 120cm doll? or the weight of shipping? my mind is freaking out. I really hope that this isn't what Jee meant when she said "new sculpt to be released within a month or 2"

You're right, it is like a mannequin. Dahlia is heavy for me to handle, but she isn't too outrageous. I wonder if it would take 2 people to dress a 120cm doll? lol

 

If that is her sister...I LOVE her! BUT the price of the stand alone is $120...so Gawd knows how much her sister would be....
I'd prolly have to sell all my other dolls to buy her...
I think it might be an artist doll though...look at her feet, the toes are curling up a bit...

Yeah I don't think Model 2 "thanatonautes" is supposed to be Dahlia's sister. I think it was just to show the stand works with other art dolls.

I'm hoping that they mistakenly put in the price into the cm line

OMG seriously! I swore I wouldn't buy a doll that is bigger than my 16 month son. haha.

 

I'm so happy to see the new photos here. Work has been keeping me too busy lately and I've fallen behind on comments, but believe me when I say that this thread has been food for the soul.

And finding the discussion of the other 80cm doll, not to mention the news of the 120cm girl to come gave me a jolt that a five shot mocha never even came close to!

Still no shipping news on Ivy. Hopefully someday soon.

 

Mich -- Lol!! I know, I was looking at her, and first thought it could be the sister, then the face looked so familiar! I love the face on that one, but the scary fingers and toes freak me out a bit. She is still rather incredible as a work of art. The sculpt is mesmerizing, isn't it?

Tetra LOL.. rule of thumb, no larger than my child.. good thing mine is now 5'9".. I have so room for interpretation on that one!! :-P

 

Don't get me wrong... I don't mean to be a negative Nancy. If the sister is a slimmer version of Lusion similar to Model 2 "can'tpronouncehername" Then that would be awesome!

I was just so hoping and looking forward to a new Lusion addition. Just a new awesome head. A humongo new sister doll feels like a disappointment to me Not to mention I feel like either Jee didn't understand my question or we were misled. I guess we will have to wait and see, right? I am excited to see how they would even make a 120cm doll work. Bungie cords for elastic??

 

I just posted a question on the Dollmore discussion board, to ask them to confirm that Dahlia's sister will be 120cm. I am so not on board with that concept. I'll post here when I receive their reply.

 

I have to admit I'm intrigued to see a doll that size but I would not be buying one. Between the outrageous cost of her, the outrageous size of her and the room she'd take up, and the fact that my Edel freaks out my fiance a bit so a larger doll would freak him out A LOT, she'd never come home. I'm still hoping it is a typo or something, and that we'll have a beloved same-size friend/sister for our Dahlias.

 

I don't like the larger doll. I also don't think I would spend $120 on a stand... My girl will just have to sit. She has a pillow - I am sure it's more comfortable anyway... 80cm is plenty big for me...

Just imagining trying to lug that one around a doll show to a meetup... Whew!

 

Am I the only one that loves her if she'd be that tall, and a slimmer older looking sister?
I'm sure I could squeeze her in somewhere...but alas, as I say I don't think I could afford her...
I also don't think I'd pay that just for a stand...Natalie~Rose has a lovely small wicker chair to sit in, that was very cheap to buy...

 

The extra 40cm is almost the size of an MSD, I don't think she'd be a Lusion anymore, but a brand new line. X3

 

omg a 120cm. and I thought a 80cm Lusion was big. the new one looks interesting though.

 

Oh!...I could be tempted by 'larger' dollie I am used to big dolls!!... 120cm sister for Lusion??? WOW!!! I do think the second doll is an artist doll and she looks to be 80cm.
I would like one of those big doll stands, it would save me a lot of problems during photo shoots!

@ Kimber35, the asian doll in my shoot with Roisin is Cara, by doll artist Elissa Glassgold....I do have quite a few large artist dolls

 

I have a feeling that the 120cm is a typo from the 120 price of the stand. It has to be.. right? :-)

I got an automatic message from Dollmore when I emailed them today. They're on vacation until the 31st so I doubt anything will be updated until after they get back. I am desperate for new info though!

 

An even larger doll?!?!?! Holy cats. I don't think I could handle a larger one. And as others have mentioned, the cost would be a shock to my bank account! I was just hoping for another head sculpt, not a whole new, bigger doll. Interesting...

I don't know if everyone knew... but there is disastrous flooding in Seoul, where Dollmore is based out of. article here.
I don't know if Dollmore does their casting in-house in Seoul or if they outsource it elsewhere, but I can predict that it might cause lots of delays, especially for faceups! I hope everyone is OK over there. Not much of a summer holiday for them, is it?

If the size thing is true, I wonder why DM is making a brand new doll line rather than expand the Lusions, as there is demand for that. It seems that quite a number of us are not interested in a girl much larger than Lusion, I for one am intrigued, but I doubt I would be getting one until many many years down the line.

I guess they should be commended for doing what they want instead? :3

 

You're right! Wow.. that would be 18 or 20 pounds of resin? Would anyone venture to guess how much they will be asking for a doll that size? It would have to be $2500 usd range or more. What do you all think?

I am so out of it, folks. What is going on at Dollmore? Was that scary girl her older, bigger, just my size sister? You all know I feature the big dolls...but I am not at all sure that I like this girl...Lusion are so sweet. As to the stand, the big Kaiser stands that I am using work beautifully and cost twenty bucks, not one twenty.

It's been all over the papers. God bless and keep them all, poor darlings, safe from harm.
